Caleb Randall Blankenship, infant son of Vestil and Lisa Blankenship of Stopover, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, November 2, 2003, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Mary Tammy Blankenship.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents Randy and Ruby Blankenship of Stopover, Kentucky; and paternal grandparents Tracy and Merlene Blankenship, also of Stopover, Kentucky

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 12 noon on Tuesday, November 4, 2003, at the R. S. Jones and Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Blankenship cemetery at Stopover with Rev. Willie Gordon officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of R. S. Jones and Son Funeral Home, Phelps, Kentucky

Lena Carol McCoy Robinson
Lena Carol McCoy Robinson, 60, of Odenville, Al., formerly of Freeburn, Kentucky and Williamson, W. Va., passed away Friday, October 31, 2003, at Odenville, Al.

Born March 20, 1943, in Freeburn, Kentucky, to the late Homer McCoy and Sadie Hatfield McCoy, she attended Phelps High School at Phelps, Kentucky Lena was a born again Christian and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Juanita McCoy, who was stillborn.

Surviving are her husband, Henry Robinson of Odenville, Al.; stepson Vernon Robinson (Donna) of Richmond, Kentucky; daughters, Melanie Rutherford (Mike) of Bristol, RI, and Robin Robinson of Odenville, Al; brothers, William McCoy (Virginia) of Logan, W. Va., Reese McCoy (Kathy) of Mt. Morris, Mich. and Danny McCoy of Flint, Mich.; sisters, Kathleen Eldridge of Woodstock, Ga., Cheryl Pender (Ronnie) of Fenton, Mich., and Laura McCoy of Fenton, Mich.; paternal aunt, Brookie Gannon of Plymouth, Mich.; maternal uncle, Nick Herald of Wadsworth, Ohio; grandchildren, Michael Rutherford Jr. of Bristol, RI, Madison Rutherford of Bristol, RI and Andrew Robinson of Odenville, Al.; step grandchildren Mandy Hensley (Derek) of Richmond, Kentucky, Cindy Mullins (Solomon) of Richmond, Kentucky and Casey Robinson of Richmond, Kentucky; step great grandchildren, Rhiannon Mullins, Kaitlin Mullins, Lauren Hensley and Logan Hensley, all of Richmond, Kentucky Lena is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003, 2 p.m., at Kilgrove Funeral Home, 1651 Ashville Road, Leeds, Al, 35094, 205-699-3181.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 5, 2003, from 1:30 - 2 p.m.

Kelly Messer, 66, passed away Monday, November 3, 2003.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 6, 2003, 1 p.m., at Dingess Freewill Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 4, 2003, 2 p.m. at the church and continue until time of the service on Thursday.

Marie Hackney Stacey, 89, of Hilliard, Ohio, formerly of McAndrews, Kentucky, passed away Sunday night, November 2, 2003 at Mill Run Gardens, Hilliard, Ohio.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete but visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2003 at Rogers Funeral Home, Belfry, Kentucky

Arrangements will be announced later by Rogers Funeral Home.

Jackie Blackburn

Jackie Blackburn, 69. of Lookout, Kentucky, died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital, Pikeville, Kentucky

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at Bailey Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Blackburn Family cemetery at Lookout, Kentucky

Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Dennis Clark

Dennis "Red" Clark, 93, of Pinsonfork, Lower Johns Creek, Kentucky, died Saturday, Nov 22, 2003, at University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky

Born March 6, 1910, he as a son of the late Henry and Emma Pinson Clark.

He was also preceded in death by his wife Ethel Clark; brother, D.H. Clark Sr.; sisters, Elizabeth Burnette, Lena Damron, Mamie Ratliff, and Gracie Phillips.

He is survived by daughter Shalimar (John) Lebreche of Lower Johns Creek.

Funeral services will held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at the Community Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Pinson Family cemetery.

Visitation will be held after 2 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.

Thurman Mullins

Thurman Gene Mullins, 72, of Hatfield, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2003, at Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

Born May 24, 1931, in Clintwood, Va., to the late Donald B. Mullins and Clercie Mullins, he was a retired coal miner. Mr. Mullins was a member of UMWA Local #1530, a 41-year coal miner, secretary of Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Stanley Mullins; brothers, Aubrey and Harold Mullins; and sisters, Ella Mae Rose and Vroncie Ann Stanley.

Surviving are his wife, Mary June Ferrell Simon Mullins; sons, Ronnie Mack (Myra) Mullins of North Matewan, W. Va., Lonnie Don (Sheila) Mullins of Pikeville, Kentucky, Carlos Lyn (Nancy) Mullins of Chicago, Ill., stepson, John Eric (Loretta) Simon of Williamson, W. Va.; daughter, Anna Mae (David) Harrison of North Matewan, W. Va.; brother, Walter Lee Mullins of Clintwood, Va.; sisters, Lavon Colley of Clintwood, Va., Audrey Rose of Clintwood, Va., Bonnie Mullins of Bellville, Mich. and Madge Desnacido of Norfolk, Va.; five grandchildren, Christopher, Justin, Christina and Robbie Mullins and Nicholas Thompson; two step grandchildren, Seth and Zack Simon, and two great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Sidney Mullins.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2003, 1 p.m., at Mullins Funeral Home, Clintwood, Va. with the Rev. L. Myers Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at the Hill Ridge cemetery, Clintwood, Va. Serving as pallbearers are Robert, Justin, Christopher and Nicholas Mullins and David Harrison.

Visitation will be held 6 p.m. Saturday night at Rogers Funeral Home and Sunday at 6 p.m. at Mullins Funeral Home, Clintwood, Va.

Special services Saturday night at 7 p.m. with Rev. William Akers.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry, Kentucky

Leroy E. Garrison III
Leroy Elsworth (Bone) Garrison III, 39, of Belfry, Kentucky, died Nov. 12, 2003 at his residence.

Born Jan. 28, 1964 in Georgia, he was a son of Janet Faye McDivitt Garrison of Belfry, Kentucky, and the late Leroy Garrison Sr.

Besides his father, he also was preceded in death by one sister, Ellen Garrison.

He formerly owned a heating and cooling service and was disabled. He was a member of the Victory Baptist Church at Hampton, Va.

Surviving are a sister, Judith Elaine "Judy" Lipscomb of Hampton, Va.; three nieces, Ashley, Mahaly and Courtney Lipscomb, and a special friend, Billie Rolen of Belfry, Kentucky

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, at the Rogers Funeral Home of Belfry. Officiating ministers will be Bob Werntz and Buddy Kendrick.

Burial will take place at the Blackburn family cemetery at Belfry, Kentucky

Pallbearers will be Gary Venturino, Tommy Conley, J.T. Varney, John Stanley, Bruce Varney, Shane Stanley, Jerry Hackney, Gary Bostic and Clemmit Dillard. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Pecco, Buddy Kendrick, Robert Hall and Jonah Varney.

Visitations will be after 6 p.m. Friday and any time Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home.

Cecil James
Cecil James, 65, of Lovely, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2003, at his home.

He was born November 27, 1937, in Martin County, Kentucky, to John and Cora Ward James.

Surviving are his step-grandchild, Brian Maynard; and brothers and sisters, Jimmy James of Lovely, Kentucky, Warmie James of Ft. Gay, W. Va., Russell James of Lovely, Kentucky and Junie Bowens of Kermit, W. Va.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, 2003, 1 p.m., at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield, Kentucky, with Rev. Lonnie A. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the James cemetery, Lovely, Kentucky

Visitation will be held Wednesday and Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. each evening, at Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield, Kentucky

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Richmond-Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky

Kristopher Shawn Luster
Kristopher Shawn Luster, 28, of Raccoon, Kentucky, died Monday, November 10, 2003, in Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W. Va.

Kristopher was born February 7, 1975, in Pike County, a son of Ernest Lloyd Luster and Lana May Luster. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Ernest Roy Luster and his maternal grandfather, James Virgil May.

Kristopher was a graduate of Johns Creek High School and the Lexington Electronic Institute. He was employed by McCoy Elkhorn Bevins Branch.

Other than his parents, Kristopher is survived by one brother, Eric Kip Luster of Chicago, Ill.; paternal grandmother, Judy Luster of Raccoon, Kentucky; and maternal grandmother, Alta May of Raccoon, Kentucky; and his special cousins, Ricky May, Robby May, Shane May, Chad Adkins, Patrick May, Tambra Justice, Courtney Johnson, Lannie Goff, Jr., Stormie Goff, Brittany Nichols and Vicky May.

Visitation will be in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, November 11, 2003 from 6 - 10 p.m.; Wednesday, November 12, 2003, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, November 13, 2003, at 1 p.m. with ministers Paul Dean Justice, Donnie Harris and Chester Ray Varney. Entombment will follow in Annie E. Young cemetery, J. U. Thacker Mausoleum, Chloe Road, Pikeville, Kentucky

The family is being served by the Thacker Memorial Funeral Home, 745 Hambley Boulevard, Pikeville, Kentucky

Heather Montgomery Mackey
Heather Montgomery Mackey, 28, of Shelbyville, Kentucky, died on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, in Shelbyville following injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at the Shannon Funeral Home in Shelbyville with Dr. Ed Erwin and the Rev. Steve Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Grove Hill cemetery in Shelbyville.

Juanita G. Hager
Juanita G. Hager, 99, of Gilbert died on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2003, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, Kentucky

She was born on Jan. 16, 1904, in Isaban, W.Va., a daughter of the late Henry and Ida West Radford. She was a retired public cook and a member of the Horsepen Southern Baptist Church at Sharon Heights, Hampden, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, William French Hager; two sons, Claude and Danny Hager; one granddaughter, Juanita "Cookie" Jones; five brothers, Herbert, Clarence, Howard, Charlie, and Norman Radford; and three sisters, Virginia Grubb, Christina Tompert and Henrietta Radford.

Mrs. Hager is survived by three sons, Lowell Thomas (Brenda) Hager of Jessup, Md., Jerry Grayson (Helen) Hager of Kettering, Ohio, and James Earnest Hager of Baltimore, Md.; five daughters, Sylvia (Earl) Hurley of South Williamson, Kentucky, Melvia Ann (Ersel) Jones of Covington, Va., Lorraine (Grant) Fuller of Justice, Romaine (Buster) Cook, of Laurel, Md., and Sharon (Jerry) Lester of Manessas, Va.; one sister, Myrtle Lowe of Gilbert; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m., Tues-day, Nov. 4, 2003, at the Mounts Funeral Chapel in Gilbert with the Revs. Frank Rowe and Shawn M. House officiating. Burial will follow in the Hatfield cemetery in Sharon Heights, Hampden.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call at the funeral from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3.

Johnny Slone
Johnny Slone, 84, of Pikeville, Kentucky, died on Friday, Oct. 31, 2003, at the Pikeville Methodist Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 3, 2003, at the Justice Funeral Home with Robert Warricks, Michael Elswick, Paul Varney and David Coleman Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young cemetery at East Shelbiana, Kentucky

Visitation will be Sunday after 6 p.m., at the Rocky Road Primitive Baptist Church with special services at 7 p.m.

Elmer G. Roark
Elmer G. Roark, age 81, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Aflex, Kentucky, died peacefully at Riverside Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003. He was a caring and giving man who always thought of others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lon Sr. and Lessie Roark; sister and brothers, Bert, Ray, Bill and Lon Jr.

He will be greatly missed by his sister Jacqueline and brother Jack Roark; nieces and nephews Twinkle (Rodney) French, Janice Snyder, Tom (Vicki) Roark, Kathy (Ralph) Tryon and the joys of his life, Kayle and Gavin French; sisters-in-law Juanita Roark and Ann Roark.

Elmer was a WWII veteran and retired from Columbus Auto Parts.

Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Schoedinger-Norris Chapel, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio, where the funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Pastor David Thomas will officiate. Interment will be at Sunset cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Elmer's memory to Girl Scout Troop #1831, c/o Sandy Murdock, 2706 Holt Road, Grove City, OH 43123.

Caroline 'Wootsie' Ball
Caroline "Wootsie" Ball, 91, of McCarr, Kentucky, passed away Nov. 13, 2003, at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Kentucky

Born August 30, 1912, in Pike County, Kentucky, to the late Emsey Hatfield and Cora Sullivan Hatfield, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Ball was a member of Bluesprings Freewill Baptist Church for 31 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James T. Alley; her second husband, Earl T. Ball; daughter, Ruby Hatfield; brothers, Emsey Jr., Willard, Roy and John Calvin Hatfield; and sisters, Ethel, Goldie, Bessie and Stella.

Surviving are her granddaughter, Pamela (Acie) Hager of Ransom, Kentucky; grandson, Rick Hatfield of Wittensville, Kentucky; half brothers, Tommy Hatfield of Ransom, Kentucky and Wayne "Junior" Edwards of McCarr, Kentucky; sisters, Opal Justice of Brookville, Ind., Fern Hager of Hardy, Kentucky and Ruth Maynard of Clarksville, Tenn.; six great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were held Nov. 16, 2003, at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel with burial following in the Buskirk cemetery at Buskirk, Kentucky
