Leslie E. Knapmeyer Arnold, 53, of Peebles, Ohio, formerly of Covington, died Thursday at her home.

She was a member of Peebles Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, Tom Arnold; a son, Ron Roeding of Baltimore; daughters, Karen Adkins of Georgetown, Ohio, and Jennie Arnold of Peebles; brothers, Don Knapmeyer, Roger Knapmeyer and Chuck Knapmeyer, all of Erlanger; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, with visitation there from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday and at Brooke-Lafferty-Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Peebles, from 4 to 8 tonight. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Peebles. Memorials are suggested to Peebles Church of Christ, 6050 Steam Furnace Road, Peebles, Ohio 45660, or Hospice of Hope, Georgetown, Ohio.

Debby Caldwell, 42, of Crestview Hills, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She had received a double-kidney transplant and a pancreas transplant.

A brother, Dave Kennedy, died in 1989.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Caldwell; a son, Adam Caldwell of Lexington; her mother, Rita Kennedy of Covington; brothers, Roger Kennedy of Covington and Robert Ken nedy of Marietta, Ga.; and sisters, Karen Garner and Donna Kennedy of Covington.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Pius Church, Edgewood, with visitation 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes. Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45103 or Kidney Foundation, 2330 Victory Parkway East, Cincinnati 45206.

Floyd A. Cheek, 82, of Cincinnati, formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Thursday at Three Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Miami Heights, Ohio. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired carpenter.

Survivors include sons, Frank Cheek of Arcata, Calif., Robert Cheek of Highland Heights and Gary Cheek of Lauderhill, Fla.; a daughter, Dee Yi of Cincinnati; a brother, General Cheek of Chatham, Ill.; sisters, Emily Osborne of Baxter, Verda Bedwell of Westminster, Md., Dolly Strunk of Coldiron, Nannette Baker of Pleasant Hill, Calif., Kathleen Partin of Middlesburg and Lillian Seipp of Baltimore; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights, with visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Cemetery Mausoleum, Ft. Thomas.

Ruby Agnes Gulley Dampier, 69, of Cynthiana, died Thursday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington. She was a homemaker and a member of Judyville Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carlos C. Dampier; a son, Clarence A. Dampier of Cynthiana; daughters, Iva Sanders-Small and Joyce Harney of Cynthiana, and Wilma Booth of Carlisle; sisters, Ethel Underwood of Flemingsburg, Hazel Fraley of Kettering, Ohio, and Betty Bramel of Florida; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana, with visitation 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Bourbon County. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington 40504.

Christopher Duffner, 26, of Covington, died July 19 at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte, N.C. He hijacked a bus on I-77 in Columbia, S.C., and passengers overpowered him when the bus reached Charlotte. Authorities are waiting for results of an autopsy. He was a forklift operator for Klee Wholesale in Newport.

Survivors include brothers, Joseph Duffner of Covington and Danny Duffner of Bethel, Ohio; sisters, Laura Ross of Walton, April Foust of Nicholasville, Cheryl Risheberger of Villa Hills and Norma Vickers of Alexandria.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow, with visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Christopher Duffner Memorial Fund, c/o Huntington Bank, 300 Elm St., Ludlow 41016.

Lisa A. Humphries, 34, of Erlanger, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. Arrangements are pending at Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Elsmere.

Dutt Jones, 82, of Ft. Thomas, died July 19 at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Va. He was the retired owner of Dutt's Barber Shop, Highland Heights, and a former employee of National Lead of Ohio. He was a member of Newport Eagles. He was an Army veteran.

Survivors include daughters, Nadine Uchmann of Highland Heights and Lorrine Poppe of Virginia; sons, David Jones of Ohio, Wayne Jones of Alexandria, Doug Jones of Elsmere, Gilbert Jones of Fayetteville, N.C., Dutt A. Jones of Ft. Thomas; sisters, Cora Wells of Hamilton, Ohio, Amanda Schmitt of Georgia, Martha Clark of Michigan, Isbella Wenger of West Virginia; brothers, Hugh Crawford of Highland Heights and Reid Crawford of Georgia; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights, with visitation 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Mary Ellen Kabitsch, 57, of Taylor Mill, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice, Covington. She was a retired teacher who taught at St. Benedict and in Kenton County.

Survivors include her husband, Richard W. Kabitsch; a son, Michael J. Kabitsch of Ft. Wright; a daughter, Kathy McKenzie of Ft. Mitchell; a sister, Linda Shakleford of Kettering, Ohio; two grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 12:05 p.m. Monday at Mother of God Church, Covington, with visitation from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington 41014.

Gordon S. McNeill, 78, of Ludlow, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired car man for Ortner Freight Co. He was a member of Bromley Vets and Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. He was also a member of Ludlow Senior Citizens Center and was a Senior Olympics award winner.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Matracia McNeill; sons, Gordon "Butch" NcNeill and Ronald McNeill of Independence and Frank McNeill of Covington; daughters, Janet Gardiner of Bromley and Fran Drohan of Ludlow; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Covington. Urban "Butch" Seiter, 83, of Ft. Thomas, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East in Ft. Thomas. He was a retired meat cutter and owner of Heimerdinger Meats, Cincinnati. He was a member of Bellevue Vets and Newport Elks, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Dorothy Hargraves Seiter, died in 1987.

Survivors include a sister, Virginia Brown of Newport.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Thomas Church, Ft. Thomas, with visitation 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today at Dobbling Funeral Home, Ft. Thomas. Bellevue Vets services will be at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to St. Thomas Church, 26 E. Villa Place, Ft. Thomas 41075, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Larry W. Teegarden, 55, of Covington, died Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a former car salesman in West Palm Beach, Fla., and a veteran of the Vietname War.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hopper Teegarden; a son, Chad Teegarden of Covington; daughters, Tracy L. Teegarden of Ft. Mitchell, Kamma Teegarden of West Palm Beach; sisters, Wilma Teegarden of Covington, Shirley Evans of Elsmere; five grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington. . Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington. Memorials are suggested to the family, c/o Barbara Teegarden, 801 Willard St., Covington 41014. Don Catchen and Son Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Mentor's Celeste Goebel, church organist

Celeste Goebel made an impact on her community, both as a public servant and as a neighbor.

Mrs. Goebel, 75, of Mentor, died Saturday afternoon at her home.

She was a homemaker and the former postmaster at the Mentor post office. "That was when we had our own post office, in the general store," said Mrs. Goebel's daughter, Bonnie Backer of Mentor.

The Mentor post office was closed in the late 1970s, though Mrs. Goebel remained a visible member of the community as the organist at Mentor Baptist Church.

"She was the organist there for 30 or 35 years," said her daughter.

Debby Young of neighboring California recalled Mrs. Goebel playing the organ at Christ mas celebrations and other special events at her church, California Methodist.

"She was an accomplished musician, and a really cultured person," said Peggy Schoulties of Mentor. "She was always tremendously friendly to me, and would lend me books when I was a teen-ager."

In addition to her daughter, survivors include her husband, J. V. Goebel; a son, James Goebel of Cincinnati; brothers, Aubrey Clift of California; a sister, Bernice Bass of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Mentor. Memorials are suggested to the church or the charity of the donor's choice.

Eleanor Bailey, 76, of Newport, died at 5:25 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. Arrangements are pending at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport.

Jewell V. Bates, 90, of Florence, died at 7 p.m. Saturday at Arbors at Milford Nursing Home in Milford, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of South Side Baptist Church, Covington. Her husband, Gentry K. Bates, died in 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay Bates Shearer of Fairfield, Ohio; a brother, Smiley George Haynie of California state; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the church, 1501 Holman Ave., Covington 41011.

Services were this morning at Radel Funeral Home, Highland Heights. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Cemetery Mausoleum, Ft. Thomas.
