He was a retired coal miner.

ROSE, Gertrude of Jackson Branch, Elkhorn City, Pike Co., Kentucky died May 6 1998 kidney failure; daughter of the late J. W. "Bill" and Sarah Ann (Bentley) Rose, she was born: August 7 1923 in Pike Co., Kentucky; married : Victor BARTLEY, December 22 1939, children, one boy: Billy Bartley of Jackson Branch; 3 girls: Christine Lucas of Shelby Gay, Kentucky; Wilma Jean Kelly of Ashcamp, Kentucky; Judith Ann Slone died: February 1998. She was baptized July 1968 by Elder Dallas Ramsey, Elder Clardia Sanders. She also leaves, one brother, Charley Rose of Flatwoods, Kentucky; one sister, Betty Swiney of Shelby Gap, Kentucky. Buried at the Johnson Memorial Park, South Mayo Trail, Pikeville, Kentucky. Arrangements were under the direction of the Bailey Funeral Home.

BARTLEY, Jessie Teamus "Poppy" born: Ashcamp Kentucky October 1 1891 son of Noah and Mary Ann (Stiltner) Bartley, married : Georgia Ann WALLACE, 1910; 11 children; 5 boys: Hustler, Luther, Mannis, Vernon, and James T.; 6 girls: Pearlie, Maxie, Alpha, Hester, Mary and Anna Mae. On June 20 1942 he joined the Ashcamp Church of Old Regular Baptist where he served as Clerk, and Custodian for many years. After the death of his first wife, he married Rushie Clevinger, 1969. In April 1991, he entered the Mountain View Heath Center in Elkhorn City, Kentucky where he remained until his death in 1996. He Care centered honored him each year on his birthday from age 99 through 105, the family chose not to have a 106th birthday celebration.

Jonathan Baldwin of Bowling Green, Kentucky; daughters: Mary Elizabeth Flood of Mount Clemens, Michigan; Anna Marie Bowens of Newton, West Virginia; Nancy Parsley of Williamson, West Virginia; Judy Hensley of Church Ill, Tenn; Patricia Hall of Myrtle Beach, SC; Leona Baldwin of Huddy, Kentucky; Susan Newson of Pikeville, Kentucky; Louise Sturgill, Rebecca Bentley and Bernice Thacker all of Canada, Kentucky. She was a charter member of the Sidney Missionary Baptist Church.

He worked as a coal miner for several years on Pond Creek; at the time of retirement he worked at Chemthron in Huntington, West Virginia; he was also a Army Veteran.
