Virginia S. Morris, 81

Virginia S. Morris, 81, Pewee Valley, died Sunday evening, May 25, 2003, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.

She was the former Virginia B. Sutton and a native of Central City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ovel Dee Morris, who died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Roger Morris of Jeffersontown; four daughters, Janice Raisor and Patsy Foster of Louisville, Donna Adair of La Grange and Marsha Gillihan of Hendersonville, Ind.; a brother, Curtis Sutton of Rumsey; four sisters, Helen Mason of California, Laura Foster of Owensboro, Peggy Hall of Albany, Ga., and Jean Strange of Rumsey; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services took place Wednesday, May 28 at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood.

Visitation was held Tuesday, May 27 at the funeral home.

Burial took place in Harrods Creek cemetery.

Raymond Eugene Shanks, 64

Raymond Eugene Shanks, 64, of Louisville, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at Parkway Medical Center.

He was a native of La Grange and a former employee of the City of Louisville.

Survivors include his son, Raymond Stinson, and a sister, Thelma May.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 21 at Schoppenhorst and Underwood Funeral Home on Market St.

Visitation was held Wednesday, May 21.

The body was cremated.

Fannie Mabel Eggleston, 90

Fannie Mabel Eggleston, 90, Louisville, died early Sunday morning, May 25, 2003, at Baptist East Home in Louisville.

She was the former Fannie M. Davis, a native of Middletown, Ohio, and a retired nurse from Middletown Hospital in Middletown.

Survivors include her daughter, Bethelia Kauffman of Ft. Myers, Fla.; two grandchildren, Scott Kauffman of Louisville and Lorna Kvachuk of Tucson, Ariz.; and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday, May 26 at Floydsburg cemetery. No visitation was held.

Arrangements were held by Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood.

George E. Littrel, 84

George E. Littrel, 84, formerly of Bedford, died at his daughter's home in Shelbyville on Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.

He was a native of Louisville, retired from the Old Louisville Board of Education, a member of the Retired Teachers Association, St. Xavier High School Auxiliary, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. John Catholic Church in Carollton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Marie Littrell.

He is survived by his sons, Michael G. Littrell of Bedford, Patrick G. Littrell of Charlotte, N.C., Denis G. Littrell of Pewee Valley and William G. Littrell of Robertsdale, Ala.; a daughter, Juliana Littrell Wiesenhofer of Shelbyville; a brother, John V. Littrell of Louisville; and sisters, LaVerne Watts of Louisville and Eulaine Fahey of Jeffersonville, Ind.

Services were held Monday, Sept. 29, at St. Aloysius Catholic Chapel in Pewee Valley. The Rev. Jack Caldwell officiated, with burial following in the church cemetary.

Pallbearers were Denis Littrell, Michael Littrel Jr., Anna Wiesenhofer, Brian Littrell, Amy Littrell and John Michael Littrell.

Honorary Pallbearers were Denise Littrell, Maria Littrell, Juliana Littrell, Michael Littrell and Christina Littrell.

David Leonard McKenzie, 41

David Leonard McKenzie, 41, of Bedford, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003 in Bedford.

He was born October 7, 1961 in Ottowa, Ill. to David Thomas McKenzie and Shairlynn Copples McKenzie.

He served in the U.S. Army for 10 years with an honorable discharge at the conclusion of Dessert Storm in 1991. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 158 in Bedford. He was employed by the Kentucky State Reformatory as a correctional lieutenant.

Survivors include his wife, Monika McKenzie of Bedford, formerly of Louisville; two sons, Michael Shane Merritt of Richmond, and Robert Allen Brooks II of Bedford; three daughters, Melissa Dawn Roy of Nicholasville, Kandi Nicole McKenzie of Grove City, Ohio and Nichole Lea Hoagland of Bedford; his father David Thomas and Gloria McKenzie, of Vine Grove; a brother Kurt McKenzie of Radcliff; a sister Deanna Mac Reiter of Radcliff.

Services were held Tuesday, Sept. 30, at Ransdell Funeral Home in Bedford. The Rev. Eddie Parker officiated with interment following at Resthaven Memorial park.

Thelma P. Dempley, 71

Thelma P. Dempley, 71, La Grange, died April 12, 2003, at her home in La Grange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew "June" Dempley, her son, Scott Dempley, and her parents, Ethel and Edgar Powell.

She was a member of Beulah Land Baptist Church, a restaurant cook, a nurse's aid at Mallory Taylor Hospital and a caregiver for senior citizens.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Halstead of Shepherdsville, Susan Bruce of La Grange and Monica Bell of Crestwood; three brothers, Edgar "Sonny" Powell Jr. of Crestwood and Louis Powell and Kenny Powell of La Grange; three sisters, Libby Harvey of Shepherdsville, Jerry Simmons of La Grange and Carolyn Rankin of Crestwood; two grandsons, Chris Halstead and Jordan Dempley, and two granddaughters, Aricka Bruce and Amy Halstead.

Services were Wednesday, April 16, at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home in La Grange, with burial in Harrods Creek cemetery. The Rev. Doug Acree officiated.

Visitation was Monday and Tuesday at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home in La Grange.

Pallbearers were Allen Powell, Rickey Joe Simmons, Kenneth Powell, Randy Redecker, Tom Gratton and Jason Cahen. Honorary pallbearers were Jason Miller, Stan Dempley, William H. Dempler, Joe Dempler, Tom Dempler, Scott Shaw and Fuzzy Shaw.

Imogene Frances Clements Gayhart, 79

Imogene Frances Clements Gayhart, 79, Louisville, died Friday at Hospice and Palliative Care of Louisville's inpatient unit at Norton Healthcare Pavilion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Gayhart.

She was a native of Oldham County, and a charter member and former treasurer of Suburban Christian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Philip C. (Emily) Gayhart and G. Rick (Jean) Gayhart; two sisters, Florence Schulz and Lovey Baker; and four grandchildren.

Services were held Monday, April 14, at Suburban Christian Church, with burial in Duncan Memorial cemetery.

Visitation was Sunday, April 13, at Arch L. Heady & Son Funeral Home in Louisville.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Suburban Christian Church and Hospice of Louisville.

Fred H. Gisiger, 63

Fred H. Gisiger, 63, Sarasota, Fla., died in February 2003.

Services will be held Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m., at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood, with burial in Floydsburg cemetery.

Harold Holderfield, 93

Harold Holderfield, 93, Braden, Fla., died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at Blake Medical Center in Braden.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Zaring Holderfield.

He was a native of Trimble County, a graduate of the old Crestwood High School, a retired construction engineer with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and a member of the Highland Park Lodge #865.

Survivors include his wife, the former Helena Vendrinsky, and three sisters, Helen Browning of Indianapolis, Celia Montgomery of Goodyear, Ariz. and Margaret Covington of Sequin, Texas.

Services were held Saturday, April 12, at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood, with burial in Grove Hill cemetery in Shelbyville. The Rev. Vernon Johnston officiated.

Visitation was Friday and Saturday at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood.

Arlene Smith Parsons, 69

Arlene Smith Parsons, 69, Pewee Valley, died Thursday, April 10, 2003, at Baptist Hospital Northeast in La Grange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald R. Parsons.

She was a native of Jefferson County, a former nurse for Caritas Medical Center in Louisville and a member of Crestwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Alvin "Buzz" (Tracy) Parsons, Jerry D. (Debbie) Parsons and Michael (Barbara) Parsons; two daughters, Sherry (Phillip) Strohmeier and Tammy Sue Parsons; and seven grandchildren, Shannon Parsons, Brittany and Taylor Strohmeier, Dawn Sansbury, Theresa Parsons and Jessica and Steven Probus.

Services were Monday, April 14, at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood, burial at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville. The Revs. Chris Platt and Key Chambers officiated.

Visitation was Sunday, April 13, and Monday, April 14, at Stoess Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Alvin Parsons, Jerry Parsons, Michael Parsons, Phillip Strohmeier, Tracy Parsons and Dave Klosterman.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the memorial fund at Crestwood Baptist Church.

Sarah Genevieve Patterson, 89

Sarah Genevieve Patterson, 89, La Grange, died April 12, 2003, in La Grange.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Marvin Patterson; a son, Marvin Ray Patterson; two great granddaughters, Brandi Renn and Rachel Patterson; and her parents, Nannie M. Reisinger and Claude E. Stout.

She was a registered nurse at Charter Hospital in Louisville and a member of the La Grange Church of Christ.

Survivors include three sons, Mitchell L. Patterson, Alvin D. Patterson and John W. Patterson; three daughters, Shirley Smith, Patty Martin and Dorothy Clark; a sister, Claudia M. Carey; 17 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one great, great grandchild.

Services were Wednesday, April 16, at La Grange Church of Christ, with burial at Louisville Memorial Gardens East. Bro. Louis Schuler officiated.

Visitation was Monday, April 14, and Tuesday, April 15, at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home in La Grange.

Pallbearers were Tim Smith, Michael Smith, Keith Patterson, Donnie Renn, Tony Patterson and Troy Patterson.

Ada Delphia Truax Colyer, 76

Ada Delphia Truax Colyer, 76, Crestwood, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2003.

Survivors include a son, Lonnie DeSpain; a daughter, Cathy Lee Colyer; a sister, Alice Povey; and a brother, Robert Truax.

A private burial will take place in Jeffersontown cemetery. Arrangements will be handled by Foreman Funeral Home in Jeffersontown.
