Pat Boyd

Pat Boyd, 67, of Sandlick Road, Princeton, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at 3:47 a.m. at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton, following a long illness.

A Navy veteran, former owner of Princeton Tire Co., member of Southside Baptist Church, Clinton Masonic Lodge #82, Elks Lodge, V.F.W., American Legion and a Shriner, he was born Sept. 23, 1935, in Caldwell County, a son of the late Dick and Flora Thomas Boyd.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Cansler Boyd; a son, John Boyd of Lexington; two daughters, Beth Pierce of Dawson Springs and Patty Offutt of Princeton; three stepchildren, Bobby D. Cotton and Rob Cotton, both of Caldwell County, and Vickie Moss of Hopkinsville; three grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; a brother, Haydon Boyd of Grand Rivers; two sisters, Odell Hopper and Doris Boyd, both of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 20, at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

Carrell Boyd and Jim Hayden Boyd will officiate.

Burial will follow in Lance Nichols cemetery in Caldwell County with military services at graveside.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy Alexander Gardner

Dorothy Alexander Gardner, 79, of Eddyville, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 5:45 a.m. at her home.

A beautician and homemaker, who enjoyed bowling, gardening, cooking, flea markets and antiques, she was born Feb. 6, 1924, in Webster County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Gardner; a son, Steve; and daughter, Jimmie.

Survivors include a grandson, Christopher Gardner of Madisonville; two great-grandsons, Dylan and Eric Gardner; a brother, Ralph Alexander of Providence; and three sisters, Joyce Wilson of Henderson, Ruth Crowell of Providence and Lucille Edmiston of Madisonville.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. at Townsend-Jones Funeral Home in Providence.

The Rev. Billy Gaines officiated the service.

Burial followed in White Oak cemetery.

Mrs. Edna Ruth Goodwin

Mrs. Edna Ruth Goodwin, 86, of Princeton, died Friday, Feb 21, 2003, at 3:20 a.m. at her home, following a long illness.

Born Nov. 22, 1916, in Trigg County, a daughter of the late Murl Sr. and Annie Ruth Morris Sanders., she was a retired office worker at Cumberland Manufacturing Company and was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Goodwin; a son, Donnie Goodwin; three brothers, Carroll Sanders, Eura Sanders and Clarence Murl Sanders Jr.; and a sister, Robbie Larkins.

Survivors include two sons, Bobby Goodwin of Caldwell County and Ron Goodwin of Tifton, Ga.; six grandchildren, Todd Goodwin, Jennifer Hamett, Jamey Goodwin, Amy Love, David Goodwin and Laura Colombel; eight great-grandchildren, Amanda Goodwin, Forrest Goodwin, Greg Goodwin, Layton Hammett, Jordan Hammett, Jason Goodwin, Emily Love and Trace Colombel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Feb. 23, at 2 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church in Princeton with the Rev. Ronnie Sivells officiating, assisted by the Rev. John Benton.

Burial will follow in Princeton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. until 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton, and from 1:30 until 2 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Warner Abner Adamson

Warner Abner Adamson, 85, 1000 Brookview Dr., Apt. 3, Benton, died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at 2:12 p.m. at Salem Spring Lake Care Center in Salem.

A retired plant operator for Texas Gas Corp., World War II Navy veteran and survivor of Pearl Harbor and member of Princeton Masonic Lodge, he was a son of the late Presley Maxwell and Ida Amy Perkins Adamson.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Whitis Adamson; a daughter, Mary Ann Gammell of Benton; a son, Jim Adamson of Lexington; four grandchildren, Maura Leigh Adamson and Lindsey Gail Adamson, both of Lexington, and Craig Gammel and Cara Gammel, both of Benton; and a sister, Catherine Buhlmery of El Paso, Texas.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. at Collier Funeral Home, Inc., in Benton with the Rev. Don Wilson officiating.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill cemetery in Princeton.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box, Benton, Ky. 42025.

Mrs. Frances Riley, 78

Mrs. Frances Riley, 78, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at 1 p.m. at her residence in Eddyville after a short illness.

A homemaker and member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Lyon County, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Tina Summers Snider.

She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J. Riley Jr.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Ronnie Patton of Eddyville; a granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Amye and Quin Sutton of Kuttawa; three great-grandchildren, Auburn, Warron and Taylyn Sutton of Kuttawa; a sister, Ann Reinle of Taylorsville; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, April 6, at 2 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel in Lyon County.

The Rev. Joe Baker officiated the service, assisted by the Rev. Keith Wilkerson.

Burial followed in Rolling Hills cemetery in Eddyville.

Lowell E. Davis, 87

Lowell E. Davis, 87, of College Station, Texas; formerly of Princeton, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at College State Medical Center at College Station, Texas.

A retired printer for the Evansville Courier and an Army veteran of World War II, he was born Oct. 20, 1915, in Princeton. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #82, life member of Elks Lodge #1115, life member of VFW Post 5595, Printers Union, all in Princeton, and member of First Christian Church of Bryan/ College Station in Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Eva Davis; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Anna Davis of Princeton; a daughter; Ann Pitman of College Station, Texas; five grandchildren; and a sister, Martha McCollum of Memphis, Tenn.

Graveside services will be conducted Thursday, April 10, at 10 a.m. at Cedar Hill cemetery in Princeton.

The Rev. Cliff Jones will officiate the service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Christian Church of Princeton, 510 Hopkinsville St., Princeton, Ky. 42445.

Morgan’s Funeral Home of Princeton is in charge of arrangements.

Justin B. Walker, 22

Justin B. Walker, 22, of Grand Rivers, died Monday, April 7, 2003, at 3:15 p.m. in Livingston County.

Of the Baptist faith, he was the son of Rickey and Patty Conner Walker of Grand Rivers.

Survivors in addition to his parents include a brother and sister-in-law, David and Katie Walker of Grand Rivers; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Walker of Grand Rivers; his maternal grandmother, Barbara F. Conner of Grand Rivers; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 10, at 2 p.m. at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville.

Burial will follow in Dixon cemetery in Grand Rivers.

Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The Rev. James E. Hunter, 69

The Rev. James E. Hunter, 69, of Hazel Green, Ala., and formerly of Princeton, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at his home, following a long illness.

Retired after 50 years in the ministry serving pastorates in Kentucky, Tennessee and Alabama, he was born Sept. 27, 1933, in Princeton, a son of the late Jesse and Hazel Calvert Hunter. He was a graduate of Butler High School in the class of 1951.

He was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Hunter; and a brother, William T. Hunter.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Cox Hunter; a son, Tim Hunter of Spring Hill, Tenn.; three grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Margaret Hunter of Princeton; a niece, Lisa Hunter Polley of Princeton; and several cousins.

Funeral services were conducted in Huntsville., Ala., on Tuesday, April 1. The Rev. Bob Phelps officiated the service.

Burial was also in Huntsville, Ala.

Annie Mary Crump, 90

Annie Mary Crump, 90, of Princeton, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at 11:30 p.m. at Princeton Health Care Manor, following a long illness.

A self-employed housekeeper and member of Shepherd Street Baptist Church, she was born Aug. 10, 1912, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Otis and Edna East Gray.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Handford Crump; a son, Burnice Gray; a daughter, Rebie Mae Gray; and five brothers, Cleotis Gray, William Gray, Ellis L. Gray, Lawrence Gray and Leonard Gray; and a sister, Maggie L. McNary.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, April 11, at 11 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

The Rev. Samuel Scott will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

O K Patton, 80

O K Patton, 80, of Eddyville, died Sunday, April 6, 2003, at 7:25 a.m. at Hilltop Nursing Home in Lyon County, following a short illness.

A member and past Sunday School teacher at New Bethel Baptist Church in Lyon County, a Navy veteran of World War II, member of American Legion 103, Fredonia member of Twin Cities Lions Club and a 50-year member of Joppa Masonic Lodge 167, he retired from Penn Walt Chemical Co. in Calvert City. A past chairman of the Democratic Party of Lyon County, a 40-year member and past president of Machinist Local 1969 and business representative of District 154 of Machinist and Aerospace Workers for 15 years, he was a son of the late Omer Kelly and Tommie Eddith Hobson Patton.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Maurice Patton.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Beverly Meeker Patton; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Jo Patton and Jackie and Vicki Patton, all of Eddyville; a daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Joe Baker of Fredonia; five grandchildren, Amye Sutton, Shanon Young, Nicholas Baker, Jessica Patton and Joshua Patton; three great-grandchildren, Auburn, Warron and Taylyn Sutton; two brothers, Malcolm Patton and Hudson Patton, both of Henderson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 8, at 2 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville, with Dr. Jerrell White officiating, assisted by the Rev. Keith Wilkerson. Masonic services were conducted at 7 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.

Burial followed in New Bethel cemetery in Lyon County.

Edna M. Garner, 80

Edna M. Garner, 80, of Kuttawa, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at 1:10 p.m. at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

A member of Glenn’s Chapel Methodist Church, she was a daughter of the late Doyle B. and Birdie Baldwin Dycus.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Garner in 1990; a great-grandson, Michaa Sizemore; three brothers, Jake Dycus, Clifton Dycus and Hewlett Dycus; and a sister, Virginia Armstrong.

Survivors include a son, James Wendell Garner of Kuttawa; two daughters, Norma Sue Randolph of Frances and LaDon Sizemore of Smyrna, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Julia Hyde of Woodstock, Ill.; and two brothers, Russell Dycus and Marvin Dycus, both of Woodstock, Ill.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at Glenn’s Chapel Methodist Church in Lyon County.

The Rev. James Mullins will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Glenn’s Chapel cemetery.

Dunn’s Mortuary of Eddyville is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Margaret Lorene McPhaill, 75

Mrs. Margaret Lorene McPhaill, 75, of Kettering, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at a hospice home in Kettering.

She was a daughter of the late Ezell and Beulah Skipworth Carver.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Ernest Denford McPhaill; a daughter and son-in-law, the Rev. Larry and Veneta Bassman; two granddaughters, Jennifer and Sarah, all of Seville, Ohio; a sister, Jean White of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, April 5, at 10 a.m. at Necomer Farley Funeral Home in Kettering, Ohio, with the Rev. Larry Bassman officiating.

Burial followed in Valley View cemetery there.
