Emma Lee Clifton, 64, of Ludlow, died Sunday at her home. She was a retired lead clerk with Cincinnati Bell Telephone and a member of Taylor Mill Pentecostal Church. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers and a former member of Elsmere Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Robert E. Clifton, died in 1996.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Clifton of Ludlow; daughters, Barbara Shaffeld of Taylor Mill and Cynthia Johnson of Crescent Springs; brothers, James "John" Bond of Florence and Robert Bond of Union; a sister, Juanita Andress of Edgewood; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Home-Health Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington 41014.

Opal C. Collier, 85, of Florence, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at Tri-County Extended Care Center in Fairfield, Ohio. She was a retired waitress with 326 Club and 514 Club, both in Covington, and Crickett Club in Cincinnati. She was a former resident of Florence Christian Center.

Survivors include daughters, Joyce Ann Graber of Cincinnati and Virginia Dougan of Salisbury, N.C.; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Grayce Ross Ford, 87, of Owenton, died Saturday at Owen County Memorial Hospital in Owenton. She was a homemaker and a member of Owenton First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, R.C. Ford Jr.; a son, Dr. Charles R. Ford of Owenton; daughters, Lucy Ford Southerland of Frankfort and Betsy Ross Ford of Atlanta; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, Seminary Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton. Memorials are suggested to Owen County Volunteer Fire Department, 408 S. Main St., Owenton 40359.

Carl D. Green, 75, of Georgetown, died Saturday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown. He was a retired employee of Hughes Candy and Tobacco Co., Georgetown, and a member of VFW Post No. 7054, Georgetown. He was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include sisters, Edna Bell of Williamstown and Marilyn Stephens of Florence.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at IOOF Cemetery, Corinth. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Tucker, Yocum and Wilson Funeral Home, Georgetown. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U.S. 42, Suite C6, Florence 41042.

Mary A. Hill, 65, of Lakeside Park, died at 9:32 p.m. Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Thomas P. Hill, died June 3. Survivors include sons, Paul G. Hill of Ft. Wright and Charles T. Hill of Lakeside Park; and a brother, James O'Connell of Lakeside Park.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Ft. Mitchell. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U.S. 42, Suite C6, Florence 41042. Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger, is handling arrangements.

Mary Hyland, 86, of Park Hills, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

Steve Lemmond, 54, of Burlington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a customer service agent with Delta Airlines, a member of Steele Creek Masonic Lodge in Charlotte, N.C., and an Army veteran of the Vietname War.

Survivors include his wife, Sally Sims Lemmond; sons, Jamie Bryan Lemmond and Jason Lemmond, both at home; his mother, Jessie Lemmond of Charlotte; and a grandmother, Grace Lemmond of Charlotte.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home in Charlotte. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 tonight at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron, and from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Home. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery in Ft. Mill, S.C. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington 41014.

Vinia Marie Luttrell, 53, of Walton, died at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a cook with Regency Manor Nursing Home, Independence.

Survivors include a daughter, Ethel Luttrell of Independence; her mother, Doris Gersper of Independence; sisters, Jacqulyn Barnes of Florence and Mary Stolz of Independence; and brothers, Sam Gersper and Mike Gersper, both of Independence, and Bill Gersper of Richmond.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at noon Tuesday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

John G. Massey, 76, of Taylor Mill, died Sunday at Grant Manor Health Care Center, Williamstown.

Arrangements are pending at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.

Charles E. Newberry, 72, of Florence, died at 3:20 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Cincinnati. He was a retired lithographer with Hennegan Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Florence Baptist Church. He was a former Florence city council member. He was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of 513th Parachute Infantry Co. I Association.

Survivors include his wife, June Taylor Newberry; daughters, Charla Rollins and Terry White , both of Florence, Lana Moser of Ft. Mitchell and Tracy House of Elsmere; his father, Elsworth K. Newberry of Villa Hills; and 10 grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Mausoleum, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to charity.

Anna M. Oster, 86, of Covington, died at 11:29 a.m. Sunday at St. Charles Care Center in Covington. She was a retired beautician and a member of St. Anthony Church, Taylor Mill. Her husband, John Oster, died in 1972.

Survivors include nephews, Philip Lambert of Indianapolis, Bob Lambert of LaGrange, Ind., and Tom Lambert of Huntingburg, Ind.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Care Center. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Ft. Wright. Connley Bros. Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.

Joseph Earl Poole, 82, of Beaver Lick, formerly of Verona, died at 8:35 p.m. Saturday at his home. He was a retired Covington city worker, working on grounds maintenance in Devou Park. He was a member of All Saints Church, Walton. His wife, Sarah Poole, died in 1984.

Survivors include daughters, Rose Dawalt of Big Bone, Jean Phipps of Walton and Nell Jo Nantz of Taylor Mill; sons, Jim Poole of Florence, Richard Poole of Warsaw and Donnie Poole of Verona; sisters, Agnes Acra of Hebron, Margaret Waddell of Covington, Dorothy Bowin of Erlanger, Liz Herring of Walton, Thresa Ryan of Dry Ridge and Loretta Cuzick of Williamstown; brothers, Tony Poole of Williamstown and Bob Poole of Independence; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton-Stanley Funeral Home, Verona. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Verona. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Home-Health Hospice, 401 E. 20th St., Covington 41014.

Oma R. Sargent, 82, of Dayton, died at 5:10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital Est, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Minor Sargent, and her son, John J. Sargent, both died in 1963.

Survivors include daughters, Sylvia Burns of Dayton and Sarah Schwarberg of Bellevue; sisters, Lilly Brewster of Columbus, Ohio, and Betty Banks of Harrison, Ind.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Baltimore Pike Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Delpha Wisener, 90, of Latonia, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.

Frieda Ashcraft, art club member

Frieda L. "Fritzie" Ashcraft, homemaker and longtime member of the Covington Art Club, died Monday at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport. She was 90.

Mrs. Ashcraft was a petite lady with firm convictions and a love of art and music that she passed on to her daughter. "She saw to it that I took piano lessons and made sure I went to church every Sunday," said her daughter, Juanita J. Dougherty of Ft. Mitchell. "I learned to appreciate music and art from her."

Mrs. Ashcraft did enamel work at the Covington Art Club and was an avid bridge player.

She and her husband, the late Julius C. Ashcraft, were married in 1928. He was an engineer for the Standard Oil Co. for 35 years and also built homes. The Ashcrafts lived in Latonia and later in Boone County in a home Julius built. He built a new home for the family in Crestview Hills in the late 1960s and they lived there for nearly 20 years. In the late 1980s they moved to Ft. Mitchell, near their daughter.

"They were very close to their grandchildren, Scott and Stephanie," Mrs. Dougherty said. "They took trips with them, watched them grow up."

During their retirement, the Ashcrafts wintered in Florida. Mrs. Ashcraft was a member of Lakeside Christian Church in Lakeside Park.

Julius Ashcraft died in 1992. Mrs. Ashcraft moved to the Baptist Convalescent Center a few years ago.

Other survivors include a sister, Minnie Caldwell of Demossville; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Highland Mausoleum, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the church building fund, 195 Buttermilk Pike, Lakeside Park 41017.
