Mary B. Milstead, 96

Mrs. Mary B. Milstead, 96, of Princeton, died Wednesday Nov. 26, 2003, at 8:30 p.m. at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton, following a long illness.

A homemaker and member of Ogden Memorial United Methodist Church, she was born Feb. 15, 1907, in Trigg County, a daughter of the late Allison Lee and Sanoma Mitchell Banister.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Milstead, and two sisters, Sarah Banister and Katherine Banister.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Rose Marie Hill of Louisville; and three stepgrandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 29, at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Steve McVay officiating.

Burial will follow in Princeton Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour Saturday at the funeral home.

Alyne Knight, 85

Alyne Knight, 85, of Princeton, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003, at 2:30 a.m. at her home, following a long illness.

A 60-plus-year resident of Louisville, retired bookkeeper and member and deacon of the First Christian Church in Louisville, she was born July 25, 1918, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late George and Mannie Hobby Boitnott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Knight Jr.; and a brother, Paul Boitnott.

Survivors include six cousins, Anna Dean Hammond, Kenneth Hobby, Marilyn Buntin, Lowell Hobby, Bill Hobby and Jimmie Wallace, all of Princeton.

Graveside services were conducted Monday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m. at Fairmont cemetery in Henderson.

Charles A. Ladd, 73

Charles A. Ladd, 73, of Princeton, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003, at 6:15 p.m. at his home suddenly of an apparent heart attack.

A former deputy sheriff and jailer of Caldwell County, a former Princeton police officer, who had worked at the Western Kentucky Toll Plaza and was former owner and operator of East Court Square Cafe in Princeton, he was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, Clinton Masonic Lodge 82 and Elks BPOE Lodge 115. Born June 16, 1930, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Tilford Andrew Ladd, who died Oct. 15, 1982, and Iva Lou French Ladd, who died April 16, 1973.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Ladd and Tilford Elwood Ladd.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Lois Beck Ladd; two sons, Chuck Ladd of Lyon County and Kenneth Ladd of Caldwell County; a daughter, Cindy Oliver of Mayfield; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Neal Ladd of Aiken, S.C., and Mike Ladd of Caldwell County; two sisters, June Rodman of Austin, Texas, and Mildred Perry of Caldwell County; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Jerry Oliver officiated, assisted by the Rev. Chuck Ladd.

Burial followed in Pool cemetery in Caldwell County.

Masonic services were conducted Monday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marvin Hunt, 66

Marvin Hunt, 66, of Marion, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at 4:50 p.m., at West Kentucky Veteran’s Center in Hanson.

A member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he was a son of Mary Hunt of Marion and the late Eston “Buck” Hunt.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Hunt.

Survivors in addition to his mother include a stepdaughter, Shannon Stout of Marion; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion.

Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 3, after 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bessie George, 95

Mrs. Bessie George, 95, formerly of Caldwell County, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at 10:55 p.m. at Hilltop Nursing Home in Kuttawa, following a long illness.

A retired school teacher in the Caldwell County School System and a member of White Sulphur Baptist Church, she was born March 17, 1908, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Enoch Henry and Sara Virginia Stone Scott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. George, in 1965; seven brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law, Marilu Stevens, Kay and Charles Farmer and Ann George, all of Princeton; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Randy Farmer of Nashville, Tenn., and Bruce and Kim Farmer of Caldwell County; a great-granddaughter, Katherine Grace Farmer; and four sisters, Alma Patterson of Killeen, Texas, Rose Oates of Jonesville, Va., Mildred Blakely of Sturgis and Jettie Scott of Castleberry, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

The Rev. J. Bill Jones will officiate the service, assisted by the Rev. Jason Landreth.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Scott, Bradley Scott, Billy Scott, Royce Patterson, Levi Oliver, Billy Joe Dorroh, Jimmy Moreland and Junior Dunbar.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Kentucky Baptist Home for Children, 10200 Linn Station Rd., Suite 200, Louisville, Ky. 40223-9954.

Virginia McCaslin, 95

Virginia McCaslin, 95, of Princeton, died Friday, Dec, 5, 2003, at 1:35 a.m. at Princeton Health Care Manor, following a short illness.

A retired secretary for Kentucky Utilities and member of Central Presbyterian Church, she was born May 3, 1908, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late E.M. and Ida Mae Williamson McCaslin.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, William E. McCaslin and James W. McCaslin; a sister, Bernice Davis; and a niece, Mary Sue Kukahiko.

Survivors include a sister, Louise McCaslin Smith of Princeton; two nephews, Billy Graham McCaslin of Caldwell County and Joey McCaslin of Princeton; three nieces, Terry Davis Schlunz of Ames, Iowa, Ginny Lou McCaslin Lewis of Princeton, and Anne Smith Lawrence of Los Angeles, Calif.; 20 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. at Cedar Hill cemetery with the Rev. Jim Stahr officiating.

Pallbearers will be Billy Graham McCaslin, Joey McCaslin, Mike Soltys, George Kukahiko, James McCaslin and John Lewis.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Princeton Business and Professional Women’s Club College Fund, Ruby Jones, Treasurer, 516 Cadiz St., Princeton, Ky. 42445.

There will be no visitation.

Rudolph Franz Meyer, 82

Rudolph Franz Meyer, 82, of Decherd, Tenn., died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, in a hospital in Tennessee.

A son of the late Rudolf Andreas Meyer and Else Lothany Meyer, he was a police officer in Germany and was employed at E.J. Brach and Sons from 1953-1987.

Survivors include a son, Steve (Nancy) Meyer of Decherd, Tenn.; a daughter, Janice Roser of Arizona; two granddaughters, Nicci and Alice; a great-grandchild; two stepsons, Gary Johnson of Brentwood, Tenn., (daughter Ashley) and Danny Jones (Lois) of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; and many friends.

A gathering of friends and relatives will be held Sunday, Dec. 14, at 2 p.m. on Northfield Drive in Princeton.

Uneta Wolking, 80

Uneta Wolking, 80, of Princeton, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at 7:28 p.m. at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, following a long illness.

A homemaker and member of Northside Baptist Church, she was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Neddleton, Ark., a daughter of the late A.T. and Nila Cunningham Colson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wolking; a sister, Claytie Aldridge; and a niece, Ginna Lou Gray.

Survivors include a sister, Virginia Gray of Princeton; two nephews, Bubby Gray of Caldwell County and Garnet Scott of Hopkinsville; a niece, Mary Nita Bondurant of Union City, Tenn.; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Private graveside services will be conducted at Mt. Pleasant cemetery in Trigg County with the Rev. Tommy Tackett officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Northside Baptist Church Family Life Center, P.O. Box 463, Princeton, Ky. 42445.

There will be no visitation.

Jim Boyd, 60

Jim Boyd, 60, of Kuttawa, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003, at 8:55 p.m. at Caldwell County Hospital Emergency Room of a sudden apparent heart attack.

Serving his first year of a term as Judge/Executive of Lyon County, he was a retired employee of Atofina Chemical Co. in Calvert City after 34 years, and a member of Kuttawa First Baptist Church. Born April 30, 1943, in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Porter and Eleanor Williamson Boyd.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Boyd, on May 31, 1984.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sara Jean Hooks Boyd; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Byron Jasis of Dycusburg; a grandson, James Jasis; a granddaughter, Jessica Jasis; a brother, Wallace Boyd of Lake City; two nephews, David Boyd and Craig Rogers; his mother-in-law, Margaret Hooks of Kuttawa; and a brother-in-law, Don Rogers of Murray.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 4, at 2 p.m. at Kuttawa First Baptist Church in Kuttawa with the Rev. Carl Nelson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Steve McVay.

Burial will follow in Rolling Hills cemetery in Eddyville.

Pallbearers will be Steve Cruce, Charles Ferguson, Buddy Nichols, Billy Joe Dorroh, Craig Rogers and David Boyd.

Honorary bearers will be Van Knight, Butch McCollum, Judi Stone, Mike Miller, Pippi Hardin, J.R. Gray, Bob Jackson, Berlin Moore, Chris Lasher, G.L. Ovey and Bill Cunningham.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton and from noon until the funeral hour Thursday at Kuttawa First Baptist Church, 316 Walnut St., Kuttawa.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Jim Boyd Memorial Fund, 5th Third Bank, 418 Newman Circle, Eddyville, Ky. 42038.

Sharlotte Newell, 62

Mrs. Sharlotte Newell, 62, of Eddyville, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at 8:35 p.m. at the Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton.

A homemaker and member of Eddyville Church of Christ, she was a daughter of the late James Floyd Lynn and Mellie Rue Downs Lynn.

She was preceded in death by a brother, James Lynn Jr.

Survivors include her husband, Wilbur Newell; three sons, Jeff Newell of Louisville, Jay Newell and David Newell, both of Eddyville; two daughters, Debbie Stewart of Paducah and Jamie Hammons of Princeton; nine grandchildren; a great-grandchild; four sisters, Nancy Musselman and Delores Tucker, both of East Peoria, Ill., Glenda Hrdlicka of Mossville, Ill., and Louise Havel of Clayton, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service were conducted Monday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel in Eddyville.

Bill McCormick officiated the service.

The body was cremated.
