Kathryn L. Taylor, 71

Mrs. Kathryn L. Taylor, 71, of Princeton, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at 7:35 p.m. at her home, following a long illness.

A homemaker, former paramedic for the Caldwell County Ambulance Service and member of First Baptist Church, she was born March 21, 1932, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Thomas Powell and Bessie Bell White Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Randolph Taylor, in 1997; a son, Bob Taylor; and a daughter, Sharon Kay Taylor.

Survivors include two daughters, Terry Wallace and Bess Flynn, both of Princeton; four grandchildren, Michael Randolph Burris, Lacy Perkins, Taylor Flynn and Tanner Flynn; a great-granddaughter, Laura Kathryn Bess Wallace; two brothers, Curtis Lewis of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Jim Ed Lewis of Princeton; a sister, Tommye Vickery of Clarksville, Tenn., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 1 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Tom Hughes officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. Bill Jones.

Burial followed in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were Michael Burris, Tanner Flynn, Craig Aikins, Dennis Glass, Greg Brown and Jim Ed Lewis.

Honorary bearers were D.T. Braden, Ronnie Wallace, Owen Glass, Carrol Murphy, Barry Poat and Bruce Perkins.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Pennyroyal Hospice, 101 W. 18th St., Hopkinsville, Ky. 42240.

Jerline Joyce Boyd, 65

Mrs. Jerline Joyce Boyd, 65, of Eddyville, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at 1:10 p.m. at Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton.

A retired surgical technician for Caldwell County Hospital in Princeton with 45 years of service and a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Lyon County, she was a daughter of the late Lelan Joyce and Stella Peek Joyce.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Linzy; and two brothers, Randy Joyce and Owen Joyce.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Hal Pierce of Dawson Springs; a granddaughter, Alexandria Pierce of Dawson Springs; two brothers, Goble Joyce of Marion and Art Joyce of Eddyville; and two sisters, Betty Kemper of Kuttawa and Faye Stinnett of Dycusburg.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel in Eddyville with the Rev. Joe Farless and the Rev. Terry Davis officiating.

Burial followed in Hebron cemetery in Lyon County.

Louise C. Skees, 66

Mrs. Louise C. Skees, 66, of Princeton, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at 5:47 p.m. at Crittenden County Hospital in Marion, following a long illness.

A homemaker and member of Gospel Temple Pentecostal Church in Princeton, she was born Oct. 8, 1937, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Cordie Cook and Camella Jones McDaniel.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Roy Myers, in 1976,; a daughter, Becky Walls in 2000; a great-grandson, Logan Murphy in 2001; three brothers, Russell, McDaniel, Charles McDaniel and Louard McDaniel; and three sisters, Myrtle Gillian, Tyline Moore and Arnella Gillian.

Survivors include her husband, James M. Skees; two sons, Timmy Myers of Henderson and Michael Skees of Mexico; two daughters, Rachel Wilson and Libby Myers, both of Princeton; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Rex McDaniel of Princeton; three sisters, Gertrude Gray, Jean Dorris and Christine Potter, all of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Mark Engler will officiate, assisted by the Rev. Denzil Sizemore.

Burial will follow in Fredonia cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jason Meeks, Johnnie Meeks, Brian Meeks, Shawn Conger, Pete Travis and Michael Skees.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morgan’s Funeral Home.

Ruby Wynn, 68

Mrs. Ruby Wynn, 68, of Princeton, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at 10:20 p.m. at her home, following a long illness.

A homemaker and member of Southside Baptist Church, she was a daughter of the late James Edward and Maude Mathis Pierce.

She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Edward Hooks; a brother, James Woodson Pierce; and a sister, Edna Grubbs.

Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Wynn; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Doug Hooks of Danville and Danny and Lisa Hooks of Caldwell County; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Tyler and Donna and Bob Cox, all of Caldwell County; four grandchildren, Bobby Patton, Sharon Stovall, Christy Hooks, Cody Thomas Hooks; a great-grandson, Nathan Horner; and a brother, Larry Pierce of Lyon County.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 14, at 1:30 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Ronnie Sivells will officiate, assisted by Bro. Jerald Thorpe.

Burial will follow in Friendship cemetery in Lyon County.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Margaret Duff, 69

Margaret Duff, 69, of Eddyville, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at 11:55 p.m. at her home in Eddyville.

A member of Eddyville Second Baptist Church and retired custodian from the Lyon County School System, she was a daughter of the late Joe and Claudia Wilson McLeod.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Duff Sr., in 1995; five sisters; and three brothers.

Survivors include three sons, Carl David Duff Jr., Jimmy Dale and Gayle Duff, and Robert Wayne and Christine Duff, all of Eddyville; a daughter, Gloria Ann Duff of Eddyville; three grandchildren, Robyn, Samantha and Garrett Duff, all of Eddyville; three brothers, Billy McLeod of Calvert City, George McLeod of Grand Rivers, and Cecil McLeod of Murray; and two sisters, Loudell Brindley of Eddyville and Maude Herring of Calvert City.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 4, at 11 a.m. at Eddyville Second Baptist Church.

The Rev. Wayne Glass will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Rolling Hills cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville and after 10 a.m. Thursday at Eddyville Second Baptist Church.

Caleb Simpson McGowan, 79

Caleb Simpson McGowan, 79, of Gracey, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at 4:06 p.m. at his home of natural causes.

A farmer, former member of C. Camp in Russellville and member of McCarroll Hill Baptist Church, he was born Jan. 9, 1924, in Princeton, a son of the late Luther and Beulah Brandon McGowan.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hattie Irene Palmer McGowan; five sons, George Thomas Anderson, Wayne McGowan and Ronnie McGowan, all of Gracey, Luther T. McGowan and Tony McGowan, both of Hopkinsville; three daughters, Florence Gude and Sheila Dillard, both of Cerulean, and Katie Buckner of Princeton; 26 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Plez McGowan of Hopkinsville; and a sister, Bessie Hopson of Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Dec. 12, at noon at Gamble Funeral Home in Hopkinville. The Rev. Samuel Scott will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Cedar Hill cemetery in Princeton.

Visitation will be held Thursday beginning at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Hester Coleman, 83

Mrs. Hester Coleman, 83, of Princeton, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at 9:30 p.m. at her home, following a long illness.

A homemaker and member of Princeton General Baptist Church, she was born Aug. 28, 1920, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Lindsay and Jessie Oliver Merrick.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Coleman, in 1993; three sons, Ralph Coleman in 1969, Jim Coleman in 2002, and Charles Coleman in 1981; a brother, Hayden Merrick; and three sisters, Audrey Littlefield, Lois Boyd and Bertha West.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Dean and Buster Stewart and Joyce and Tom Farmer, all of Princeton, and Brenda and Seldon Calhoun of Lyon County; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Betty Coleman of Princeton; three brothers, Bill Merrick, Harold Merrick and Herby Merrick, all of Princeton; a sister, Betty Elkins of Paducah; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 11 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

The Rev. Ronnie Sivells officiated the service.

Burial followed in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were David Coleman, Kent Stewart, Michael Calhoun, Dwayne Coleman and Jamie Coleman.

Honorary bearers were Dena Cartwright, Ashley Green, Stacey Patel and Chancie Coleman.

Juanita Hooks, 77

Juanita Hooks, 77, of Princeton, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at 11:35 a.m. at Caldwell County Hospital, following a long illness.

A homemaker, she was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late George Henry and Mamie Purdy Tandy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Egbert Hooks; and a son, Mickey Hooks, in 1969.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Capps of Princeton; two grandchildren, Stephanie Capps of Nashville, Tenn., and Jennifer Capps of Princeton; a great-grandchild, Dylan McKinney; and a sister, Louise Gilkey of Princeton.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 1 p.m. at Princeton Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Richie McKinney officiating.

Visitition will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

Archie Perry, 90

Archie Walker Perry, 90, of Flagler Ave., Holly Hill, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Halifax Medical Center at Daytona Beach, Fla.

A retired engineer from Ford Motor Co., he moved to Florida from Detroit, Mich., in 1975. He was a Princeton native.

Survivors include a son, James Perry of Plainfield, N.J., and a grandchild.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Perry Family Scholarships at Union County College, 1033 Springfield Ave., Cranford, N.J. 07016.

Ida Mae Sitzman, 80

Ida Mae Sitzman, 80, of McCook, Neb., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at her home.

Born June 11, 1923, in Indianola, Neb., a daughter of the late Floyd Elmer and Anna Reiter Peters, she attended Red Willow Public School, was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, was a clerk for Prest Drug and Alco Pharmacy and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Sitzman on May 17, 1993; two brothers, Floyd Peters and Lawrence Peters; seven sisters, Cleo Nelms, Violet Creasman, Wilma Hein, Maritta Howard and Jean Olivieri; and two infant sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Marlys Sitzman of McCook, Neb.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Bill Harper of Wichita, Kan., and Linda and Jim Herbek of Princeton; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Lee and Clara Peters and Dale Peters, all of North Platte, Neb.; a sister, Elsie Manzell of Spokane, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Peters of North Platte, Neb.; a brother-in-law, Joe Olivieri of Albany, Ore.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church.

The Rev. Randy Wahl, pastor of the church, will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park cemetery at McCook, Neb.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Peace Lutheran Church at McCook, Neb.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home in McCook, Neb., is in charge of arrangements.
