Arvie Hubbard, 86

Arvie Floyd Hubbard, 86, of Grand Rivers, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at 10:01 a.m. at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

A retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Lake City Baptist Church, he was a son of the late Harrison and Peachie Higgins Hubbard.

He was preceded in death by three brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Maretta Hubbard; two sons, Lynn Hubbard and Glenn Hubbard, both of Grand Rivers; two daughters, Jean Walker and Juanita Walker, both of Grand Rivers; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Arthur Hubbard of Princeton.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.

The Rev. Mac Walls and the Rev. James Glover officiated the service.

Masonic rites were conducted at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, P.O. Box 14385, Tampa, Fla., 33690; or to the Memorial Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Tom Lane, 81

Tom Lane, 81, of Eddyville, died Friday, Jan. 23, 2004, at 11:40 a.m. at his home in Eddyville.

retired civil engineer for the state of Illinois, a World War II Army veteran and member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Eddyville, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Ada Meravle Lane.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Gray Lane; a daughter, Lezetta Lane; several brothers; and several sisters.

Survivors include a grandson, Sharonne Lane-Brown of Chicago, Ill.; a brother, Herman Lane of Wedowee, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Eddyville.

The Rev. Maurice Tiell will officiate the service for Mr. Lane.

Burial will follow in Rolling Hills cemetery in Eddyville.

A prayer service was held Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville.

Cora Mae Mount, 82

Mrs. Cora Mae Mount, 82, of Calvert City and formerly of Kuttawa, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at 5:25 p.m. at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City.

A former owner of Ray’s Sport Shop in Suwanee and member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Lyon County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Cora Sizemore Jarrett.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sammy Stinnett; her second husband, Ray Mount; three brothers, Robert, John and A.B. Jarrett; and a sister, Elizabeth Dycus.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Sammy Jr. and Christie Stinnett of Terre Haute, Ind.; a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Joe Jarrett of Eddyville; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel in Eddyville.

The Rev. Steve McVay and the Rev. C.W. Barnhill will officiate the service for Mrs. Mount.

Burial will follow in Kuttawa cemetery in Kuttawa.

Pauline S. Ricker, 76

Pauline Sisk Ricker, 76, of Princeton, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at 3:20 a.m. at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, following a short illness.

A homemaker, she was born Aug. 7, 1927, a daughter of the late Alvey and Myrtle Mullins Sisk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Ricker on Jan. 2, 2000; a brother, James Sisk; and a sister, Bonnie Frame.

Survivors include two sons, B.J. Ricker of Wellington and Paul Ricker of Calvert City; three grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, R.L. Sisk of Sparks, Ga.; a sister, Audrey Wilson of Charleston, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted Thursday, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. at Princeton Memorial Gardens.

The Rev. Dean Ray officiated the service.

Lucy R. Smith, 86

Lucy Richardson Smith, 86, formerly of Princeton, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2004, in Evansville, Ind.

Survivors of Mrs. Smith include her husband, the Rev. Douglas F. Smith; a niece, Effie Walker of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 465 S. Elliott St., Evansville, Ind.

Mildred Freeman, 71

Mrs. Mildred “Pal” Freeman, 71, of Kuttawa and formerly of Louisville, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at 2:25 a.m. at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

A manager of Green Turtle Bay Dry Stack Boat Storage in Livingston County and a member of Harvey Brown Memorial Presbyterian Church in Louisville, she was a daughter of the late George Alous and Pauline Powers Weber.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Guy Walter Freeman; two sons, Walter Lee Freeman of Bentonville, Ark., and George Freeman of Louisville; a daughter, Donna James of Kuttawa; two grandchildren; and a brother, Ernie Weber of Louisville.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, Feb. 4, at Resthaven Memorial Park cemetery, 4400 Bardstown Rd., Louisville.

The Rev. Ronnie Fox will officiate.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Lung Association of Kentucky, Bluegrass Regional Office, 1636 Nicholasville Rd., Suite One, Lexington, Ky. 40503.

Visitation was held at Lakeland Funeral Home Chapel in Eddyville, who also handled arrangements.

Ollie F. Hamby, 59

Ollie F. Hamby, 59, of Marion, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at 7 p.m. at Crittenden County Hospital in Marion.

A Vietnam Army veteran, he was a son of Ina Jean Ryan of Princeton and the late Leamon Hurley.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Kirk.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Sarah Hamby; three sons, Ron Lynn of East Alton, Ill., James Hamby of Providence and Richard Crews of Nebo; a daughter, Jessica Nichols of Dawson Springs; eight grandchildren; three brothers, Bobby Hamby of Marion, Steve Hamby of Clay and Phillip “Woody” Hamby of Diamond; and four sisters, Vilene Hurley and Paula McGill, both of Marion, Jeanie Dulin of Eddyville and Robin Thomas of Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion.

The Rev. Gary Hardesty and the Rev. Tim Rigdon will officiate the service for Mr. Hamby.

Burial will follow in Rosebud cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Saturday until the funeral hour.

Martha H. Nunn, 93

Martha H. Nunn, 93, of Marion died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at 5:25 a.m. at Crittenden County Hospital in Marion.

Mrs. Nunn was a member of Marion United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas D. Nunn.

Survivors include a son, David Nunn of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; a grandson, Ty Nunn of Seagrove Beach, Fla., and a sister, Dorothy Lockhart of Marion

Funeral services were conducted Friday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. The Rev. Wayne Garvey officiated the service.

Burial followed in Mapleview cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Marion United Methodist Church Building Fund, 112 S. College St., Marion, Ky. 42064.

Rev. James N. Dill, 79

The Rev. James N. Dill, 79, of Madisonville, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at 5:50 p.m. at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Born April 16, 1924, in Logan, he was a son of the late William Bryan and Mary Hallie Meador Dill. A United Methodist minister and member of the Kentucky Annual Conference of United Methodist Churches, he entered the pastorate in 1952, serving numerous churches until retiring in 1986, and then still ministered until Nov. 2003. He was an Army veteran, serving during World War II and was active in volunteer missions, even making seven mission trips overseas and three in the United States.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Stuart Dill; a daughter, Marsha Dunn of Hanson; three sons, J. Roger Dill of Louisville, Gerry K. Dill of Taylorsville, and Randall T. Dill of Anderson, S.C.; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a brother, W.E. Dill of Elkton.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville with the Rev. Gary Ball, the Rev. Carline Brown and the Rev. Shane Browning officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at Madisonville.

Pallbearers will be J. Roger Dill, Gerry K. Dill, Randall T. Dill, J.R. Dunn, Jeremy Dunn and Stuart Dill.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Methodist Children’s Home, 2050 Lexington Rd., Versailles, Ky. 40383, or the donor’s local church.

Rev. H.G. Sullivan, 87

The Rev. H.G. Sullivan, 87, of Princeton, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at 1:40 a.m. at Princeton Health Care Manor, following a long illness.

A retired Baptist minister and member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church, he was born Oct. 10, 1916, in Caldwell County, a son of the late John Newton and Ada Belle Riley Sullivan.

Survivors include his wife, Velda Woodall Sullivan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Dorothy Sullivan of Paducah and John and Mary Sullivan of Albermarle, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Tommy Brown of Princeton; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Bill Sullivan of Caldwell County; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. at Walnut Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. David Brown and the Rev. Steve Thompson will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Rowland cemetery.

Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at Morgan’s Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the funeral time at the church on Thursday.

James Robert Ryan, 74

James Robert Ryan, 74, of Princeton, died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at 11:08 p.m. at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, following a short illness.

A retiree of Goldenrod Dairy Co., member, deacon, Sunday School teacher and member of the choir of Calvary Baptist Church, he was born May 29, 1929, in Trigg County, a son of the late Broaddus Clinton and Louise Hutchinson Ryan.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ray Ryan; two daughters and a son-in-law, Dianna and Carroll Boyd of Princeton and Cindy Allen of Cadiz; three grandchildren, Lori Beth Travis, Jessica Allen Boyd and Chelsey Rae Allen; two great-grandchildren, Jonathon Blake Travis and Kaylyn Elizabeth Travis; two sisters, Irene Ethridge of Madisonville and Annie Ward of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Feb. 7, at 11 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

The Rev. Rodney Wallace will officiate the service for Mr. Ryan, assisted by the Rev. Mark Bond.

Burial will follow in Blue Spring Baptist Church cemetery.
