Willie Edward Jackson, 78

Willie Edward Jackson, 78, of Dawson Springs, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 12:40 a.m. at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

retired employee with 17 years of service with Speed Queen, member of Poole Missionary Baptist Church, a World War II U.S. Army veteran with 4-1/2 years service and a lifetime member of the VFW Post 5359, he was born Feb. 21, 1926, in Lyon County, a son of the late Willie and Belle Goodrich Jackson.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Patton.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Audrey Ausenbaugh Jackson; a daughter, Wanda Faye Morris of Madisonville; a son, Jeffrey Dale Jackson of West Virginia; a grandson, Kevin Dwayne Morris; and a great-grandson, Hunter Matthew Morris.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Beshear Funeral Home in Dawson Springs. The Rev. Jeff Graham will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Rosedale cemetery in Dawson Springs.

Pallbearers will be Frank Hunt, David Hunt, Willie Adams, Larry Ausenbaugh, Scotty Alexander and George Ausenbaugh.

Honorary bearers will be Kevin Dwayne Morris, Hunter Matthew Morris and Ray Morris.

David W. Jenkins Sr., 48

David W. Jenkins Sr., 48, of Marion, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at 11 a.m. at his home.

He was a member of Life in Christ Church.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Jenkins; two sons, David Jenkins Jr. of Pittston, Penn., and Jimmy Jenkins of Asheville, N.C.; a daughter, Melissa Nolan of Asheville, N.C.; six grandchildren; four brothers, Richard “Punky” Jenkins, Butch Jenkins and Mike Jenkins, all of Vista, Calif., and Dennis Jenkins of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and five sisters, Patty Jenkins, Carol Jenkins, Sally Jenkins, Nancy Jenkins and Gale Jenkins.

Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Crowell cemetery.

Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements. There was no visitation.

Elsie Crouch

Elsie Crouch, 75, of Marion, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 5:15 a.m. at her home.

A retired employee of Moore’s Business Forms and member of Marion Baptist Church, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Stacy Asbridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Crouch; a brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 11, at 1 p.m. at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion. The Rev. Darrell Clarke and the Rev. David Winders officiated the service.

Burial followed in Tyners Chapel cemetery.

J.C. Beckett, 83

J.C. Beckett, 83, of Lyon County, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at 10:45 a.m. at River’s Bend Retirement Center, following a long illness.

A World War II veteran, retired owner of Beckett’s Plumbing & Heating Co. of Eddyville, member of Second Baptist Church of Princeton, Clinton Masonic Lodge #82, Rizpah Shrine Temple, American Legion, V.F.W. and Twin Cities Lions Club, who had served on the Port Authority Board in Lyon County, he was born July 9, 1920, a son of the late Arthur Beckett and Estelle Turpin Beckett Gresham.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Joshua Beckett.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Clady Lamb Beckett; a son, Dennis Beckett of Eddyville; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Chad and Sarah Beckett of Princeton; and a great-granddaughter, Rachel Beckett of Princeton.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Curtis Harrell will officiate the service, assisted by the Rev. Mark Bond.

Burial will follow in Rolling Hills cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Heart Association, 333 Guthrie St., Suite 207, Louisville, Ky. 40202.

Mrs. Wilma Board, 78

Mrs. Wilma Board, 78, of Princeton, died Friday, June 4, 2004, at 5:20 a.m. at Princeton Health Care Manor, following a short illness.

A retired factory worker and member of Southside Baptist Church, she was born March 18, 1926, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Will Ed and Ollie Lee Boyd Morse.

She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mae Byrd, Lois Watson, Katherine Jean Morse and Georgia Endicott.

Survivors include her husband, Shellie Board; a daughter, LaNell Lax of Caldwell County; and two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Melissa and Jon Ortt of Princeton and Jennifer and Ryan Akers of Santa Claus, Ind.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, June 6, at 3 p.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton. The Rev. Ronnie Sivells will officiate, assisted by the Rev. John Benton.

Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Larry Baker, Harold Baker, Clifton McGregor, Darrel Dearing, Dewey Heaton and Robert Haley.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Virginia R. Gregory, 71

Virginia R. Gregory, 71, of Grand Rivers and formerly of Between the Rivers, died Thursday, June 3, 2004, at 5:45 a.m. at her home in Grand Rivers.

A member of Friendship Baptist Church in Livingston County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Daisy Strickland Odom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Tidwell; a brother, Clarence Odom; and a sister, Mary Heater.

Survivors include a son, Dennis Heater of Benton; a daughter, Jerri Preston of Grand Rivers; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Odom of Grand Rivers and Lewis Odom of Las Vegas, Nev; and a sister, Johnnie Riley of Benton.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, June 5, at 11 a.m. at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville. The Rev. Lewis Brinker will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Sardis cemetery in Between the Rivers.

Leola Barrett, 84

Leola Barrett, 84, of Kuttawa, died Monday, June 7, 2004, at 9 a.m. at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

A member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Grace Lee Fitts Wells.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bobby” Barrett Sr.; and two brothers, William Wells and James Earl Wells.

Survivors include a son, James Barrett Jr. of Osh Kosh, Wis.; a grandson, James R. Barrett III of Horse Shoe, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Bailey Barrett and Baxter Barrett of Horse Shoe, N.C.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 11, at 2 p.m. at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville. The Rev. Mickey Lewis officiated the service.

Burial followed in Pleasant Hill cemetery.

Helen Stewart, 76

Helen Stewart, 76, of Hopkinsville, died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, at 5:45 a.m. at her home.

A homemaker, waitress at C&J; Restaurant and member of Stokes Chapel Church in Todd County, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Molly Croft.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Guy Jerry Blythe and Woody Blythe.

Survivors include her husband, Douglas Stewart; her stepmother, Ruby Croft of Princeton; three sons, Frankie Blythe and Larry Blythe, both of Hopkinsville, and Ralph Blythe of Cadiz; two daughters, Brenda Hester of Paoli, Ind., and Jennifer Stewart of Pembroke; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Diane Armstrong of Smithland; two brothers, Bobby Croft and James Croft, both of Princeton; three stepdaughters, Patricia Leneave and Sue Stewart, both of Hopkinsville, and Sandra Mann of Fairview; two stepsons, Bobby Stewart and William Stewart, both of Pembroke; and a stepsister, Betty Looper of Princeton.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 10, at 2 p.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz.

The Rev. Gary Chapman and the Rev. Bobby Weatherfor officiated the service for Mrs. Stewart.

Burial followed in Dunning cemetery in Caldwell County.

Mary Egbert, 86

Mrs. Mary Egbert, 86, of Princeton, died Tuesday, June 15, 2004, at 5:30 p.m. at Caldwell County Hospital, following a long illness.

A homemaker and member of Northside Baptist Church, she was born July 19, 1917, in Trigg County, a daughter of the late Fred and Katherine Wood Wheeler

She was preceded in death by a son, Byron D. Egbert on Feb. 24, 2000; and a daughter, Sarah Cook in 1997.

Survivors include three sons, Don Egbert of Dawson Springs, Jim Egbert of Murray, and Ralph Egbert of Lexington; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a cousin, Robert Jewell Thomas of Paducah.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday, June 17, at 11 a.m. at Morgan’s Funeral Home in Princeton.

The Rev. Tommy Tackett officiated the service for Mrs. Egbert.

Burial followed in Cedar Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Lou Ann Wolford

Mrs. Lou Ann Wolford, 82, of Madisonville, KY, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at 6:00 P.M., at her residence.

Born July 8, 1923, in Rushville, IN, she was the daughter of the late Paul Phillips and Gladys Wallace Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Wolford in 1982.

Mrs. Wolford was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Hopkins County Historical Society where she worked and volunteered.

She is survived by two sons, James W. Wolford of Owensboro, KY, and Mike D. Wolford of Madisonville; one sister, Jeanne Woolsey of Daleville, IN; a cousin, Mary Louise Lang of Tampa, FL, and four grandsons, Scott Wolford of Atlanta, GA, Charles Wolford of Owensboro, Phillip Wolford of Columbus, OH, and Patrick Wolford of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be Thursday, June 15, 2006, at 10:00 A.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Dr. Don Davis officiating. Graveside services will be held at Fairview cemetery in Linton, IN, at 3:00 P.M. EST on Thursday afternoon.

Visitation will be Wednesday, June 14, 2006, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 8:00 A.M. until the service time on Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may take the form of donations to the Hopkins County Historical Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mr. Elton Vernon Morris

Mr. Elton Vernon Morris, 88, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, June 11, 2006, at 1:12 P.M., at his residence.

Born May 30, 1918, in Christian County, KY, to the late Walter and Mary Martin Morris. In addition to his parents, a daughter, Sandra Kay Martin, also preceded him in death.

He was a member of First Church of God and a U. S. Army WWII veteran. He retired from Island Creek Coal Company after 42 years as a coal miner. He was a member of the UMWA and an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Gladys Franklin Morris of Madisonville; two daughters, Rita Dame and Paula Crick, both of Madisonville; one son, Vernon “Buddy” Morris of Morganfield, KY; nine grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at 2:00 P.M., at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Robert White officiating. Burial will follow in Grapevine cemetery with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 6 and VFW Post 5480.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 13, 2006, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., and from 12:30 P.M. until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Crick, Kevin Crick, Brad Morris, Chase Dame, Erik Dame and Troy Dame.
