Mr. Raymond Roy Young, 77, of Madisonville, KY died at 7:20 A.M. Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Born November 19, 1928 in Bloomington, IL he was the son of the late Coy Oscar Young and Alta Boswell Young. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Cleo J. Young on January 14, 1987 and two brothers.

He was a retired machinist for General Electric in Tell City, IN and a retired minister of the Apostolic and Pentecostal faith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and an avid fisherman and golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Datha Gary Young of Madisonville; two daughters, Janice Wynn of New Albany, IN and Anita Brooks of Smyrna, TN; one stepson, Chuck Bridges of Naples, FL; four sisters, Ava Wilson of Milwaukee, WS, Gladys Rustemeyer of Bloomington, IL, Dorothy Barbee of Lafayette, IN and Helen Thomas of West Lafayette, IN; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 P.M. Thursday, May 11, 2006 at the Praise Temple with Rev. Philip Cook and Rev. Richard Sisk officiating. Burial will follow on Friday with graveside services at the Rest Haven Memorial Park in Lafayette, IN at 2:30 P.M. Pallbearers will be Cloyd Wynn, Jerry Brooks, Thad Wynn, Mike Ekbundit, Shea Brooks and Lee Stephens. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Holum and Mark Russell.

Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the Praise Temple.

Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the Praise Temple 725 W. Noel Ave, Madisonville, KY 42431 or the Mahr Cancer Center in Madisonville.

Barnett-Strother Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mr. Clarence F. Scott, 73, of Madisonville, KY, died at 8:30 A.M. Monday, May 8, 2006, at Brighton Cornerstone Healthcare in Madisonville.

Born May 8, 1933 in Hopkins County, KY. He was the son of Nathaniel H. Scott and Mable Shadrick Scott. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jeff Scott; one sister, Mary Beth Long and one brother, Curtis Scott.

Mr. Scott was a retired coal miner for Green River Coal Company and a US Army Veteran.

Surviving are two daughters, Robin Guynn and Jill Scott, both of Madisonville; one son, Kurt Scott of Manitou, KY; one brother, Alton Scott of Manitou and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 12, 2006, at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff E. Scott, Nathaniel A. Scott, Logan T. Scott, Daniel L. Gipson, Timothy Kenney and Jeff Guynn.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and after Noon Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Brown

Mrs. Margaret “Ann” Brown, 72, of Madisonville, KY died at 5:48 P.M. Monday, May 1, 2006 at her home.

Born May 29, 1933 in Webster County, Kentucky she was the daughter of the late James E. Corbin and Trudy Sigler Corbin.

She was a member of the Providence First Baptist Church, the Library Board, the Mothers Club and the Pakendahl Club.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Douglas E. Brown of Madisonville; one daughter, Rebecca Brown Gatti of Louisville, KY; four sons, Douglas E. Brown II of Henderson, NV, Eric C. Brown of Marshall County, KY, Carl J. Brown of Crittenden County, KY and Barton L. Brown of Springfield, VA; two brothers, James E. Corbin Jr. of Urbana, IL and Carl S. Corbin of Providence, KY; eighteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Memorial service to celebrate of the life of Margaret Ann Brown will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 5, 2006 at Providence First Baptist Church with Rev. Alan McCutchen and Rev. Mack Gibson officiating.

Memorials may take the form of donations to the Madisonville Door of Hope Pregnancy Care Center, 1805 S. Main St., Madisonville, KY 42431 or the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Mildred "Millie" Cunningham

Mrs. Mildred Kathryn (Millie) Grissom Cunningham of Madisonville, Kentucky formerly of Hawthorne, Nevada died at her home on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at 4:54 P.M.

She was the daughter of the late Rollie P. and Alice Brown Grissom of Martin, TN. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, George Lee Cunningham, on November 16, 1986, and her oldest son, George Donald (Donny) Cunningham on July 8, 2005.

She and her husband were members of the Assembly of God Church since 1945, beginning in McAlester, Oklahoma, then Hawthorne, Nevada, and Earlington, Kentucky, and was very active in every department of the Church. Some of the areas in which she served were teaching Sunday School for many years, leader of the Women’s Missionary Council and teacher and sponsor of the young peoples group. She was also a member of the Queen of the Lake Rebekah Lodge #20 in Hawthorne, Nevada, and a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Hawthorne. She worked and retired from Fidel’s Clothing and Department Store where she was a sales clerk and cashier.

After retiring to Madisonville with her husband, she volunteered at Waddill Avenue Elementary School for several years and was a volunteer at the Christian Food Bank of Hopkins County. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, ceramics, and all types of crafts.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy W. and Karen L. Cunningham, and daughter-in-law Jamie Cunningham of Madisonville; three sisters, Verna Jackson, Audell Collier, and Beulah Grace all of Martin, TN; a brother-in-law, Dick Grace of Martin, TN; three grandchildren, Kari Lee Cunningham Holt (Husband J.D.) and Lisa Marie Cunningham O’Brien (Husband Sean) of Madisonville and Troy Don (Wife Anna) Cunningham of Evansville, IN; seven great-grandchildren, Hayden Holt, Tristin Holt, Landon Holt, Raegan Holt, Brittany Cunningham, Madison Cunningham, and Preston Cunningham and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 3, 2006, at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove cemetery in Madisonville.

Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and on Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until the service.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Green River Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Higdon

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Higdon, 88, of Madisonville, KY, died at 7:15 P.M. Thursday, April 20, 2006, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Born September 28, 1917 in Kuttawa, KY. She was the daughter of Mark Malloy Sexton and Effie Boughter Sexton. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Ida Lou Kennedy and one brother, A. K. Sexton.

Mrs. Higdon was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Earlington, KY.

Surviving is her husband Walter Francis Higdon and one son, Jewell Ray Galloway of Madisonville.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 24, 2006, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Bruce Fogle officiating.

Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Monday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home.

A prayer service will be held at 6:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials may take the form of donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mr. William E. "Bill" Arnold

Mr. William E. “Bill” Arnold, 80, of Madisonville, KY died at 10:15 P.M. Monday, April 17, 2006 at his home after a lengthy illness.

Born November 17, 1925 in Madisonville, KY he was the son of the late James Lawson Arnold. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, James Ernest “Jim” Arnold on June 24, 2003 and one sister Betty Roberts Martin.

He was a manager and salesman for Central Mine Supply and a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a WW II Army veteran, having served in the Signal Corp in Europe. He was a 50 year member of the Madisonville Masonic Lodge # 143 F&AM.; He was a Life Member of the V.F.W. Post #5480 and a member the American Legion Post #6. He was a life member of the Hopkins County Historical Society and an Honorary Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lanna Niswonger Arnold of Madisonville; his 97 year old mother, Eldee Wilkey Arnold of Madisonville; two sons, Bob Arnold of Bowling Green and Steve Arnold of Louisville; three grandchildren, Tara Arnold Griffith and her husband, Jeff of Bowling Green, KY, Kelli Arnold of Georgetown, KY, AFC Curtis Arnold of Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma City, OK; one great-granddaughter, Kylee Arnold of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister-in-law, Jean Fowler Prow of Madisonville; two nieces, Terri Messenger of Driftwood, TX and Gayla Darling of Spring, TX and one nephew, David Roberts of Hendersonville, TN;

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, April 21, 2006 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Lon Lorton officiating. Burial will follow in the Odd Fellows cemetery in Madisonville.

Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday and on Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the services at the funeral home.

Memorial gifts may take the form of donations to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Mrs. Minnie L. Gunn

Mrs. Minnie Gunn, 91, of Nebo, KY died at 10:05 A.M. Friday, April 14, 2006 at the NHC Healthcare in Madisonville.

Born July 27, 1914 in Christian County, KY she was the daughter of the late George Robert Bowers and Bertha Mae Tucker Bowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel L. “Mutt” Gunn on April 10, 1998, two sisters, Jenny Lou Buchanan and Eula Shelton, one brother, Hewlett Bowers, two sons, Franklin D. Ezell and Arthur E. Ezell and one great grandson, Shawn Johnson.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She is survived by Mrs. Mike “Donna” Groves of Slaughters, Mrs. Carroll “Sheila” Wiles of Clarksville, TN, Mrs. B.W. “Libby” Butler of Manitou, KY and Mrs. William “Clara” Johnson of Stevenson, MI. Mrs. Larry “Nancy” Livers of Pueblo, CO, Gregory Ezell of Jeffersonville, IN; ;twelve grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Tim Dukes officiating. Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call on Monday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and on Tuesday from 9:00 A.M. until the service at the church

Mr. Jerald "Jerry" Wayne Lynn

Mr. Jerald Wayne “Jerry” Lynn, 61, of Nortonville, KY, died at 8:10 A.M. Friday, April 14, 2006, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville.

Born June 13, 1944 in Madisonville, KY. He is the son of J. L. Lynn and Ernestine Moore Lynn. H was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Jimmy Lynn on November 15, 2001 and one son, Jerald Darren Lynn in 1966.

Mr. Lynn was a coal miner in Hopkins County for several years. He was owner and operator of Lynn’s Wrecker Service. He was a member and active board member of Trinity Gospel Tabernacle in Nortonville for many years and made several mission trips. He was an all around town handyman.

Surviving are his wife of 33 years, Lorraine Hunt Lynn; his mother, Ernestine Moore Lynn of Madisonville; one daughter, Cathy MacDonald of Nortonville; one son, Wesley Lynn of Madisonville; two sisters, Yvonne Roth of Evansville, IN and Rita Roberts of Providence, KY; two brothers, Barry Lynn of Madisonville and Phillip Lynn of St. Louis, MO and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at Trinity Gospel Tabernacle in Nortonville with Pastor Howard Jones officiating. Burial will be in New Salem cemetery in Nortonville.

Pallbearers will be Mike Payne, James Owen, Shannon Owen, Steve Thresher, Scott Rice and Don Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Herrick, Charles Moore, Joey Lynn, Andrew Hopper and Zachary Hopper.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Monday and after 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the church.

Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville is in charge of the service.

Memorials may take the form of donations to Trinity Gospel Tabernacle, PO Box 1086, Nortonville, KY 42442.

Mr. Cory Nathan Stevens

Mr. Cory Nathan Stevens, 25, of Hanson, KY died at 10:50 P.M. Friday, April 14, 2006 on Stagecoach Road, Madisonville, KY.

He was born May 8, 1980 in Henderson, KY.

He was a picker at the Carhartt Cutting Facility and a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church. He was a 1998 graduate of Madisonville-North Hopkins High School where he was a member of the Future Farmer of America. He loved to travel and hang our with family and friends.

He is survived by his parents; Donnie and Nancy Watson Stevens of Hanson; two sisters, Alisha Stevens Brown and Amanda Rae Stevens, both of Hanson.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. William Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Branch cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Bruce, Matthew Vaughn, Nathan Rainwater, Judd Cartwright, Jarrod Markham, Jon Ratliff and Chad Larkins.

Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the service at the funeral home.
