Mrs. Rosella Horning, 85

Mrs. Rosella Horning, 85, of Madisonville, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. at NHC Healthcare in Madisonville.

Born May 7, 1922, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late Elvie L. and Virginia Calvert Strong, she had worked at The Messenger, was a member of VFW Post 5480 and American Legion Post 6, the Elks Lodge and Union Grove General Baptist Church in Princeton.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tom Anderson; and two brothers, John S. Strong and Buel Strong.

Survivors include her husband, T.J. Horning; a brother, William Burton Strong of Princeton; two nieces; and four nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home. The Rev. Leroy Vaught officiated the service.

Burial followed in Odd Fellows cemetery.

Rowena East, 92

Rowena East, 92, of Eddyville, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at 6:45 p.m. at her home.

A retired secretary with 22 years of service from the Lyon County School System, she was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eddyville and was a member of the Fidelas Sunday School Class, a member of Saratoga Homemakers Club and a member of the Starlight Chapter #471 of the Eastern Star. She was a daughter of the late Hester and Dora Smith Rushing.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert East in 1998; two brothers, Hugh “Buddy” Rushing and Paul Ray Rushing; and a sister, Nina Rushing.

Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Cecil East; a daughter-in-law, Rhoda East of Eddyville; a granddaughter, Deborah Melton of Eddyville; a grandson, Dr. Robert Molloy East Jr. of Washington, Pa.; four great-grandchildren, Trevor East and Ethan East, both of Washington, Pa., Haley Stewart of Kuttawa and Jonah Melton of Eddyville; and a sister, Margaret McCormick of Grayville, Ill.

Funeral services for Mrs. East will be conducted Saturday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at Dunn’s Funeral Home in Eddyville.

The Rev. Harold Anderson, the Rev. Gates Bowman and the Rev. Tim Perdue will officiate the service.

Burial will follow in Rolling Hills cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Gideon International.

William (Bill) Griffith Jr., 73

William (Bill) Griffith Jr., 73, of Caldwell County, died Monday, June 30, 2008, at 3 a.m. at his home, following a long illness.

Born Aug. 31, 1934, in St. Louis, Mo., a son of the late William and Augustine Gui­dorizzi Griffith, he was of the Catholic faith and was a retired printer.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Lou Westergard Griffith; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott William and Patty Griffith of St. Louis, Mo.; a daughter, Cindy Griffith of Princeton; and a grandson, Colt William Griffith.

Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, July 2, at 10 a.m. at Perry cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Morgan’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James "Jimmie" Jones

August 11, 1936 - February 24, 2015

Resided in Fredonia, KY

James "Jimmie" Jones, 78, of Fredonia, KY died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Christina Care Center of Kuttawa after a long illness. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Fredonia.

He was a survived by his wife, Doris Green Jones, Fredonia, KY, one son, James Perry Jones and wife, Mynone, Fredonia, KY, two grandchildren: Robert Denton Jones and wife, Audrey and Shelly Layne Taylor, three great grandchildren: Madelyn Grace Jones, Molly Claire Jones and Jayden Taylor, two step-grandsons: Troy Conrad and wife, Lisa, and Dalen Conrad, one step great grandchild, Thomas Conrad, one brother, Burt Jones, Eddyville, KY, two sisters, Ruth Ann Rushing, Fredonia, KY and Margaret Allen Caudill, Franklin, KY and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd and Thelma Spillman Jones and one brother, Thomas Jones

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until funeral time on Friday at Morgan's Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 PM at Morgan's with Dr. Jerrell White officiating. Burial will follow in the Fredonia cemetery.

Pallbearers are Troy Conrad, Todd Jones, Steve Faughn, Robert Earl Vinson, Arthur Slaughters and Bill Barnes. Honorary pallbearers are Minos Cox, Dalen Conrad, Leon Brasher and Harold Buchanan.

Mary Nell Harper

August 31, 1928 - January 5, 2015

Resided in Princeton, KY

Mary Nell Harper was born August 31, 1928 at Good Springs in Caldwell County. She was a retired worker from Arvin Industries, Kentucky State Penitentiary, Wal-Mart and co-owner of Harper's Greenhouse and Nursery at Flat Rock, KY. She was a member of Good Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She was a resident of Caldwell County.

She was the daughter of Linford "Buster" Harper and Stella Ann Tramel Harper. Mary Nell died January 5, 2015 following a short illness. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Richard Blackburn, one granddaughter Sussann Egbert Lovett and husband, Stephen Lovett, step-grandson, David Blackburn and a step-granddaughter, Kelly Blackburn Dyer.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton with Rev. Lester Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Asher cemetery in Caldwell County.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at Morgan's Funeral Home.

Jan Hull

February 27, 1950 - April 25, 2015

Resided in Metropolis, IL

Jan Hull, age 65 of Metropolis IL (Formerly of Princeton) died on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Baptist Health of Paducah. She was a retired communications supervisor for the Austin Police Department.

Survivors include her parents, Doward & Pauline Stallins of Cape Girardeau MO, two sons, Jason Williams of Lexington, KY, Jeoff Williams & wife, Lori of Plano, TX, one daughter, Shannon Dian Williams of Vienna, IL, three grandcdhildren, Kendall Williams, McKenna Williams, Lincoln Lang and one sister, Dian Stallins of Leander, TX.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jaci Williams.

There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held on Monday, April 27 at 11:00 AM at Blue Spring Church cemetery in Caldwell Co. KY with Rev. Wayne Glass officiating.

Ruth Blackburn

September 24, 1931 - April 29, 2015

Resided in Fredonia, KY

Ruth Blackburn, 83, of Fredonia died Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Princeton Health and Rehab Center following a long illness. She was a homemaker and member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Michael Blackburn of Glasgow KY, three daughters, Lou Ann Gibbs of Columbia TN, Karla Ladd of Hopkinsville KY, Jill McGregor of Princeton KY, ten grandchildren, four great grandchidlren, four brothers, Kenneth Beavers of Marion KY, Donald Beavers of Marion KY, Jerry Beavers of Marion KY, Bill Beavers of Cookeville TN, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Johnson (John) Blackburn, her parents, Carl & Melvin Travis Beavers and two sisters, Grace Baird and Mary Feagan.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 PM at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 2 at Morgan's with Dr. Jerrell White officiating and burial to follow in Fredonia cemetery.

Velma Cummins

February 23, 1938 - May 13, 2015

Resided in Princeton, KY

Velma D. "Tootie" Cummins 77 of Princeton went to be with her Savior on May 13, 2015. She was a lifetime member of Midway Valley Pentecostal Church. She was the eldest of 14 children, an avid seamstress, quilter, loved mud racing her truck and working outside growing flowers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Edward H. Cummins, parents, Raymond Sr. and Irene Newberry, one son, Edward Cummins, Jr., two brothers, Raymond "Dunk" Newberry, Jr. and James "Jimbo" Newberry, three sisters, Francis Holeman, Jeannie Skimehorn and Elizabeth Holeman, two grandchildren, Nicole Cummins and Mickey Cummins Harp, one great grandchild, Isis Cummins.

Survived by six children, Simon A. Cummins of Kuttawa, Joseph and Jill Cummins of Princeton, Rosemary and James Sheets of Graham, Kathy and Jr. Crick of St. Charles, Jonathan and Sookie Cummins of Eutaw AL, Matthew and Lisa Cummins of Princeton and her fur baby, Jesse, six brothers, Albert Newberry of Caldwell Co., Sammy Newberry of Dawson Springs, Charlie Newberry of Dawson Springs, Billy Newberry of Albertsville AL, Andy Newberry of Dawson Springs and Bobby Joe Newberry of Dawson Springs, two sisters, Margaret "Sis" Ladd of St. Charles, Joann Johnson of Dawson Springs, sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She was known to everyone as "Granny".

Visitation and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Morgan's Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until funeral time at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Dennis Walls officiating and burial to follow at Asher cemetery in Caldwell Co.

Pallbearers: Billy Newberry, Simon Cummins, Jr., Neil Foe, Jr., Chris Cummins, Sam Mitchell, Daniel Foe, Jonathan Cummins, Jr., Brother Mitchell.

Honorary Pallbearers: Bobby McGregor, Danny "Chicken Hawk" Hobbs, David Haupt, Mickey Walls and David Grace.

Imogene Lamb

October 22, 1923 - April 27, 2015

Resided in Princeton, KY

Imogene Lamb, 93, of Princeton died Monday, April 27, 2015 at Caldwell Medical Center following a long illness. She was a homemaker and member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Debi Ward & husband, James, Princeton, KY; one grandson, Wade Hart & wife, Cori, Caldwell Co., KY; and two great-grandchildren, Avery and Shelby Hart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Lamb; parents, Clifton and Mary Pugh Ortt; one grandson, Antony Hart; and two brothers, Eugene Ortt and Duel Ortt.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Church cemetery in Caldwell Co., KY.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM Wednesday at Morgan's.

Donnie Ray Orten

August 26, 1941 - May 7, 2015

Resided in Princeton, KY

Donnie Ray Orten, 73, Princeton, KY died Thursday, May 7, 2015 at his home after a long illness. He was a retired Journeyman for the Ford Company and attended Lebanon Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Shelly Orten, Princeton, KY and two grandchildren, Tiffani Orten and Lisa Orten.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira Denzel and Korea Lee Denham Orten, two sons, Arnold Orten and Johnnie Ray Orten and two brothers, Cecil Orten and Kenneth Orten.

There will be no visitation and no services.

Patsy Austin

March 30, 1943 - May 3, 2015

Resided in Princeton, KY

Patsy Austin, 72 of Princeton, KY died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Baptist Health of Paducah after a illness.

She was a retired seamstress and attended First Baptist Church of Princeton.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Austin, Princeton, KY, one son, Kevin Austin and wife, Connie, Princeton, KY, four grandchildren, Amber Austin, Katelyn Austin, Kelsi Austin and Arynn Austin, one great grandchild, Deason Fortson, three brothers, R. B. Davis, Princeton, KY, Gene Autry Davis, Springfield, TN, Donnie Davis, Caldwell County, KY, two sisters, Shirley Mae Rambo, Dawson Springs, KY and Dema Faye Stallins, Hopkinsville, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Nola Mae Harris Davis and one son, Robert Austin.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Tuesday at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Morgan's with Rev. Johnny Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Creekmur cemetery.
