Robert L. Clarkson

Robert L. Clarkson, 70, of Louisville, Ky., died on Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at Baptist Hospital East in Louisville.

He was a native of Monroe County, Ky., and was a retired employee of General Electric after 36 years of service.

Clarkson was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army.

He was married to Margaret Morris Clarkson, who preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Thomas L. Clarkson, Joseph B. Clarkson, Melissa Bentley, David A. Clarkson and Steven L. Clarkson; one sister, Buena Trulock; two brothers, Charles Clarkson and Carlos Clarkson; and four grandchildren, Joseph Bentley, Michael Bentley, Shelby Rae Clarkson and Matthew Clarkson.

Funeral was at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial was in Resthaven Memorial Park.

Hazel Marie Cox

Hazel Marie Cox, 89, of Jackson Tower in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Taylor County Hospital in Campbellsville, after an illness.

Daughter of the late Sam Allen Garrett and Alta Mae Garrett of Marion County, Ky., she was a member of Crescent Hill Separate Baptist Church.

She was married to Hershel Cox, who preceded her in death in 1974.

Survivors include one son, Ray Cox of Campbellsville; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, three brothers and four sisters, Robert Cox, Curtis Cox, Albert Garrett, Bennie Garrett, Mitchell Garrett, Goldie Gribbins, Ida Mae Tungate, Mary Elizabeth Sapp and Dorothy Cox.

Funeral was at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 20 at Fairview Baptist Church. Burial was in Tallow Creek cemetery. The Rev. Robert Morris officiated.

Pallbearers were Terry Cox, Curtis Cox Jr., Jammie Morris, Billy Miller, Donnie Bright and Henry Ford.

Albert Holtzclaw

Albert Holtzclaw, 72, of Saloma Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2002, in Sidney, Ohio.

Son of the late Joshua Holtzclaw and Lula Blair Holtzclaw, he was born on March 2, 1930 in Adair County, Ky., and was a member of Saloma Baptist Church.

Holtzclaw was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army.

He was married to Jewell Copley on Dec. 15, 1956. She preceded him in death on March 7, 1995.

Survivors include two sons, Joey Holtzclaw of Campbellsville and Mark and Rhonda Holtzclaw of Sidney, Ohio; four grandsons, Jeffrey Holtzclaw of Campbellsville, Matthew Holtzclaw, Josh Holtzclaw and Tyler Holtzclaw, all of Sidney, Ohio; and one brother and two sisters, John Holtzclaw and Emma Lou Mings, both of Campbellsville, and Minnie Sublett of Louisville.

Funeral was at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 30 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Brookside cemetery. The Rev. John Chowning officiated.

Pallbearers were Duane Copley, Greg Copley, Junior Copley, Wally Copley, Jim Maupin, J.W. Maupin, Eugene Mings and Preston Pyles.

Carl Hunt

Carl Hunt, 73, of White Rose Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at his home.

Son of the late Hulette Hunt and Dionas Hunt, he was born on May 4, 1929 in Taylor County, Ky., and was a member of Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church.

Hunt was a former employee of Carnation Milk Company for 24 years. He was a member of Mystic Tie Masonic Lodge #450 F&AM; for 40 years.

He was married to Laquita Burress on June 8, 1952. She survives.

Other survivors include one daughter and three sons and their spouses, Judy and Roger Wilson, Larry and JoAnn Hunt, Gary and Tammy Jo Hunt and Greg and Michelle Hunt, all of Campbellsville; eight grandchildren, Dana Barrett of Cave City, and Trena Wilson, Misty Roller, Mandy Hunt, Alex Hunt, Millie Hunt, Andy Hunt and Emily Hunt, all of Campbellsville; two great-grandchildren, Kendall Roller and Brooklyn Roller, both of Campbellsville; and four sisters and four brothers, Sylvia Parrott, Darlene Gilpin, Phyllis Phillips, Coleman Hunt, Shelby Hunt and Terry Hunt, all of Campbellsville, Beverly Duggin of Louisville and Buel Hunt of Augusta, Ga.

Funeral was at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 2 at Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Dr. L.D. Kennedy, the Rev. Howard Pryor and the Rev. Fred Miller officiated.

Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Charles Keith Burress, Mike Burress, Rodney Burress, Alex Hunt, Andy Hunt, Stevie Hunt, Stewart Hunt, Tony Hunt, Travis Hunt and Barry Parrott.

Honorary pallbearers were Cary Barrett, Darrell Hunt, Gee Phillips, Kenny Roller and Eddie Sprowles.

Ethel Eloise Judd

Ethel Eloise Judd, 74, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2002, at Metzmeier Nursing Home in Campbellsville.

Daughter of the late Coy Judd and Bessie Shuffett Judd, she was born on Aug. 2, 1928 in Jefferson County, Ky., and was a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church.

Judd was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom.

She was married to William Graham "Rusty" Judd on June 26, 1948. He preceded her in death on Aug. 29, 1997.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter, Barry Judd of Greensburg, Allan Judd of Marietta, Ga., and Connie Ford of Campbellsville; one sister, Vickie Bright of Greensburg; and four grandchildren, John Ford of Campbellsville, Russ Judd of Greensburg, and Andrew Judd and Samuel Judd, both of Marietta, Ga.

Funeral was at 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 30 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. Larry Wilson and Bro. Dee Dowdy officiated.

Pallbearers were Homer Simpson, Glen Bright, Dale Judd, Bill Simpson, Shorty Bloyd and Tim Simpson.

John Powell Jr.

John Powell Jr., 74, of Bowling Green, Ky., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Rosewood Health Care in Bowling Green.

Son of the late John Powell Sr. and Ester Ford Powell, he was born on Feb. 27, 1928 in Campbellsville, Ky., and was a member of Moose Lodge, and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include one son, James Powell of Ohio; two daughters, Tina Wooley of Campbellsville and Katherine Coleman of Bowling Green; one brother, Raymond Joseph "Joe" Powell of Campbellsville; one sister, Mary Edith Graham of Mt. Gilead, Ohio; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Esther Powell; one brother and two sisters, Guy Bright, Marie Pierce and Maudie Kelley; and one grandson, Jonathan Powell.

A private graveside service was at Davis-Hoffman Veterans cemetery.

J.C. Kirby & Son Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Barbara Jean Brown

Barbara Jean Brown, 49, of Hamlet, N.C., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Moore Regional Hospital in Southern Pines, N.C.

Daughter of Raymond "Bill" Walters of Campbellsville and the late Augusta Brown Walters, she was born on June 26, 1953 in Taylor County, Ky., and was a member of Early's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Brown was a former employee of Leggs Hosiery.

She was married to Brent Brown on Jan. 18, 1969. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 1998.

Survivors include two sons, one daughter and two daughters-in-law, Kevin and Kimberly Brown of Hamlet, N.C., and Shane and Karen Brown and Christina Brown, all of Rockingham, N.C.; five grandchildren, Sarah Brown of Bloomfield, Ky., Kelsey Brown of Hamlet, N.C., and T.J. Brown, Alyssa Brown and Brent Holder, all of Rockingham, N.C.; and one brother and one sister, Mitchell Walters of Radcliff, Ky., and Patty Brown of Edmonton, Ky.

She was also preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Ryan on June 18, 1995.

Funeral was at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Paul J. Dicken officiated.

Pallbearers were Wesley Bryant, Wally Cundiff, Mike Humphress, Jeff Richardson, Tony Sallee and Sonny Walters.

Geneva Darnell

Geneva Meadows Darnell, 71, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2003, at Green Hill Manor Nursing Home in Greensburg.

Daughter of the late Nathan Meadows and Della Posey Meadows, she was born on June 2, 1931 in Green County, Ky., and was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

Darnell was a former machine operator for American Needlecraft.

She was married to Cecil Loyd "Buck" Darnell on Nov. 11, 1950. He preceded her in death on Sept. 16, 1993.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, James Loyd "Peediddle" and Kim Darnell of Greensburg; one daughter, Christie Darnell of Greensburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Chester and Cymbelline Meadows of Greensburg; and one sister and brother-in-law, Lorene and Alvin Pierce of Greensburg.

Funeral was at 10 a.m., Monday, Jan. 27 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Darnell cemetery. The Rev. Dwight Forderhase and the Rev. Frank Roberson officiated.

Pallbearers were Kenny Darnell, Ralph Clark, Mike Darnell, Larry Handy, Kelvin Ford and Ricky Williams.

Honorary pallbearers were Billy Judd, Clinton Kelly, Mary Moss, Regina Jeffries, Barbara Jean Rattliff and Mary Sue Hancock.

Reeda Harmon

Reeda Harmon, 87, of Columbia, Ky., died on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Daughter of the late George and Bessie Burton Cook, she was a member of Lovedale Church, and had worked at David R. Webb factory in Edinburgh, Ind.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Delois and Samuel Stapleton of Columbia; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Elvin "Buddy" and Della Jean Harmon and Jerry Harmon, all of Columbia; one brother, Roy Cook of Columbia; three sisters, Rosa McGaha of Columbus, Ind., Ruby Burton of Columbia and Shirley Parson of Campbellsville; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Edward Harmon on Feb. 2, 2001; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 1 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 26 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Burial was in Lovedale cemetery. The Rev. Clifton Cowan and Bro. Dewey Rooks officiated.

Pallbearers were Jimmy Harmon, Terry Harmon, Mike Harmon, Billy Harmon, Harold Stapleton, Bob Richardson, Jerry Curry and Winfrey Harmon.

Alma Rosella Richardson

Alma Rosella Richardson, 82, of North Central Avenue in Campbellsville, Ky., died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, after an illness.

Daughter of the late Omer and Flossie Roberts Cox of Campbellsville, she was of the Baptist faith and was a retired, self-employed Real Estate agent.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Geneva "Jackie" and C.R. Friend of Campbellsville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, all of Campbellsville; and one brother and sister, Lawrence Cox and Ruth Osborne, both of Campbellsville.

Funeral was at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 24 at Lyon-DeWitt Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Burial was in Chappel cemetery. Bro. Jessie Rogers officiated.

Pallbearers were James Friend, Gary Osborne, Pat Weber, Darrell Dudgeon, Larry Cox and Lynn Osborne.

Howard Russell

Howard Russell, 79, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, Ky.

Son of the late Terry Wood Russell and Ella Pearl Marcum Russell, he was born on Friday, July 13, 1923, in Green County, Ky.

Russell was a mechanic for RL Implement and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.

He was married to Tillie Thompson in June 1940. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Barry Russell, Ben Russell and Gary Dean Russell, all of Greensburg; one daughter, Wanda Beyer of Louisville; two daughters-in-law, Debbie Russell and Beverly Russell, both of Greensburg; two sons-in-law, Robert Beyer of Louisville and Philip Milby of Greensburg; one brother, Ned Russell of Magnolia; one sister, Isabelle Nunn of Louisville; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by one son, James H. Russell on June 22, 1943; and two daughters, Dorothy Louise Milby on May 31, 1998, and Roseline Russell on Feb. 21, 1941.

Funeral was at 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. Burial was in Wilson cemetery with Military Rites. The Rev. Richard Johnson and the Rev. Ivan Jones officiated.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Green County Emergency Management Services and can be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Philip Cox, Randy Sullivan, Buck King, Mark Thompson, Morris Nunn, Donnie Clark, Ricky Penick, W.J. Milby and Jimmy Russell.
