Deltrice Taylor, 85

Deltrice Taylor, 85, of Columbia, Ky., died at 5:10 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, at Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, Ky., after an illness.

Daughter of the late Hugh Elec and Lura Ann Bryant Giles of Adair County, Ky., she was a member of Barnetts Creek United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

She was married to Joe Taylor, who preceded her in death on Oct. 17, 1995.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Edward Taylor and his friend Phyllis of Jamestown, Ky., and Garnett and Loueda Taylor of Russell Springs; four daughters and four sons-in-law, Retha and Jack Miller of Knifley, Ky., Margie and Earl White of Liberty, Ky., Mary Lou and Jr. Cunningham of Russell Springs and Gladys and Jim Bates of Dunnville, Ky.; a special caregiver, Gay Wilson; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

Funeral was Friday, Sept. 17 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. The Rev. Travis Adams and Bro. Troy Long officiated. Burial was in Pellyton cemetery.

Pallbearers were Danny Miller, Barry White, Brently Taylor, Mitchell Cunningham, Kevin Taylor, Chris Taylor and Brad Taylor.

Raymond Vannice, 77

Raymond Vannice, 77, of Jonathan Drive in Campbellsville, Ky., died at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 19, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Son of the late Harry Vannice and Dora Dorsett Vannice, he was born in Baker, Ill., on Aug. 25, 1927. He was a member of Palestine Baptist Church, a retired farmer and a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict.

He married Mary Aline Sluder on July 16, 1953. She survives.

Survivors also include seven daughters and four sons-in-law, Bonnie and Dan Ackley, Brenda Vannice and Susan Vannice, all of Campbellsville, Cathy and Larry Tungate and Wanda Peavey, all of Elkhorn, Ky., Julie and William Fisher of Bradfordsville, Ky., and Ruth and Tom Warren of Elizabethtown, Ky.; three sons and three daughters-in-law, Terry and Cindy Vannice, Randy and Barbara Vannice and Jeffrey and Lois Vannice, all of Campbellsville; 18 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Albert Vannice of Sheridan, Ill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren; one great-grandson; one brother, Louie Vannice; and one sister, Delores Pfortmiller.

Funeral was on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Danny Pace officiated. Burial was in Lebanon National cemetery with military honors by the Marion County Veterans Honor Guard.

Pallbearers were Timmy Fisher, Adam Tungate, Larry Tungate, Scotty Tungate, Andy Vannice and Larry Wethington.

James E. Wilcoxson, 66

James E. Wilcoxson, 66, of Roland Street in Campbellsville, Ky., died at 3:45 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, in Campbellsville.

Son of the late Edgar Wilcoxson and Vera Wright Wilcoxson, he was born in Green County, Ky., on July 21, 1938. He was of the Baptist faith and a retired employee of Campbellsville Water Co.

He was married to Annie Philyaw Wilcoxson, who survives.

Survivors also include one daughter, Jamie Rogers of Campbellsville; two sons, Keith Wilcoxson and Ronnie Wilcoxson, both of Campbellsville; four step-sons, Carl Whitaker and Jeffrey Whitaker, both of Campbellsville, Larry Whitaker of Tennessee and Thomas Whitaker of Frenchburg, Ky.; one step-daughter, Janie Dile of Greensburg, Ky.; five grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; foster parents, George and Gertrude Haynes of Campbellsville; four foster brothers, Raymond Haynes of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Eddie Haynes, Gordon Haynes and Marvin Haynes, all of Campbellsville; one foster sister, Liz Gilbert of Campbellsville; one half brother, Edgar "Pete" Wilcoxson of Washington; and three half sisters, Martha Janes of Florida, Lou Anna Frazee of Florida and Mary Helen Stack of Illinois.

Funeral was Monday, Sept. 20 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Pastor Bob Cutler and the Rev. George R. Gaddie officiated.

Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers were Kevin Farmer, Todd Ford, A.D. Gaddis, Hal Gore, Chad Mardis and George Pike.

Harold E. Antle, 83

Harold E. Antle, 83, of Columbus, Ind., formerly of Campbellsville, Ky., died at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004, in Indiana.

Son of the late Claude Antle and Lou Ella Biggs Antle, he was born in Taylor County, Ky., on April 25, 1921. He was a member and former elder of World of Pentecost Church, a retired machinist from Cummins Engine Co. and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

He married Amanda L. Combs on Dec. 24, 1941. She survives.

Survivors also include two sons, Doug Antle of Coral Springs, Fla., and Larry Antle of Columbus; one sister, Nan Biggs of Illinois; five grandchildren, Charmaine Horan, Bryan Antle and Holly Erakine, all of Coral Springs, and Sydell Gant and Darren Antle, both of Columbus; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Funeral was Saturday, Sept. 25 at World of Pentecost Church in Indiana. The Rev. Dan Mitchell officiated. Burial was in Garland Brook cemetery.

Zelma Miller, 70

Zelma Miller, 70, of Columbus, Ind., died at 2:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at St. Francis Select Specialty Hospital in Beech Grove, Ind.

Daughter of the late Lillard and Hattie Denny Wayman, she was born in Elkhorn, Ky., on April 3, 1934. She was a member of Cathedral of Praise Church of God in Columbus and was a homemaker.

She married Callie Miller on June 3, 1954. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1988.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Henderson of Columbus, Frances Russell of Ottawa, Ill., and Janie Pittman of Seymour, Ind.; five sons, Steve Miller, Reese Miller and Norman Miller, all of Columbus, Rodney Miller of Streator, Ill., and Edgar Ray Miller of North Vernon; five step-children; two sisters, Stella Lynch of Edinburgh, Ind., and Alma Ford of Campbellsville, Ky.; four brothers, Donald Wayman of Campbellsville, Joe Wayman of Mannsville, Ky., Harold Wayman of Elkhorn and Junior Wayman of Taylorsville, Ind.; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Vernon Wayman, Charles Wayman and Edgar Wayman; and one grandchild.

Funeral was Wednesday, Sept. 22 at Hathaway-Myers Chapel. The Rev. Bob Vance officiated. Burial was in Garland Brook cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to any charity.

Walter Lee Parrott Sr., 87

Walter Lee Parrott Sr., 87, of Greensburg, Ky., died on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at his home.

Son of the late Fred Lee Parrott and Bess Truman Young Parrott, he was born in Taylor County, Ky., on July 29, 1917. He was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, owner and operated of Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and former owner of Saloma Store and Huckster. He was also a member Greensburg Masonic Lodge #54 F&AM;, Scottish Rite SJUSA, Kosair Shrine, Lebanon Commandery #56 R&SM;, Knights Templar, American Legion Rod Lowe Post #124, James L. Pruitt VFW Post 5813, Green Count Sportsman Club, Green County Rotary Club and Green County Fire and Rescue Honorary Fireman.

He married Rose Houser on Oct. 12, 1957. She survives.

Survivors also include two daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann Lee and Mike Judd of Greensburg and Nancy and Greg Smith of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; one son and daughter-in-law, Walt Jr. and Deana Parrott of Greensburg; six grandchildren, Reyn Judd, Leah Rose Judd, Olivia Parrott and Gracie Parrott, all of Greensburg, and Nicole Smith and Andrew Smith, both of Lawrenceburg; one sister, Helen Simpson of Greensburg; one sister-in-law, Joyce Parrott of Campbellsville, Ky.; and one brother-in-law Henry Allen Buchanan of Campbellsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert "Bob" Parrott; and one sister, Louise Buchanan.

Funeral was Thursday, Sept. 23 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. The Revs. Ferrill Gardner, Mike Akridge, Kevin Brantley and Freddie Norris officiated. Burial was in Greensburg cemetery with military rites.

Pallbearers were Walt Parrott Jr., Jerry Morgan, Reyn Judd, Andrew Smith, Mike Judd, Lyndell Petty, Nicole Smith, Olivia Parrott, Greg Smith, Todd Bloyd, Leah Rose Judd and Gracie Parrott.

Honorary pallbearers were his nieces and nephews, Terry and Judy Dabney, Charlie Foreman and past and present employees of Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home.

Carl Allen Parrott Jr., 47

Carl Allen Parrott Jr., 47, of Boils Road in Campbellsville, Ky., died at 11:13 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, in Louisville, Ky.

Son of Karen Brooks Parrott Hennessey of Senoia, Ga., and the late Carl Allen Parrott Sr., he was born in Beech Grove, Ind., on Aug. 28, 1957. He was a member of Truth Tabernacle in Campbellsville.

He married Sandra Kay Acree on May 10, 1997. She survives.

Survivors also include two sisters, Lisa Sharpton and Christina Wright, both of Senoia; and his grandparents, Jim and Dana Wasson of Senoia.

Funeral was Tuesday, Oct. 5 at Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church cemetery in Campbellsville. Cannon David Epps officiated.

Daisy Mary Peters, 75

Daisy Mary Peters, 75, of Campbellsville Retirement Home in Campbellsville, Ky., formerly of Elizabethtown, Ky., died on Monday, Oct. 4, 2004.

Daughter of the late Samuel and Prudence Lyvers, she was born in Bardstown, Ky., on Aug. 22, 1929. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church and was a homemaker.

She was married to George A. Peters Sr., who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah A. and Michael Burris of Campbellsville and Delores and Cissy Butzer of Linville, Ind.; one son and daughter-in-law, George A. and Rose Peters Jr. of Rineyville; one sister, Gladys Mary Wheatley of Springfield, Ky.; four grandchildren, Christopher Sampley, Christina Cox, Kyle Butzer and Andrew Butzer; and five great-grandchildren, Amber Sampley, Michelle Sampley, Brianne Cox, Steven Cox and Mackenzie Butzer.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6 at St. James Catholic Church in Elizabethtown. Burial will be in St. James cemetery.

Mary Riggins, 94

Mary Riggins, 94, of Columbia, Ky., died on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at 4:25 p.m. at Medco Center of Campbellsville, Ky.

Daughter of the late Solomon and Katherine Vance McFarland, she was a long-time member of Columbia Christian Church.

She was married to Paul Riggins, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Gladys and Russell Montgomery of Campbellsville and Jean and John Jr. Collins of Providence, R.I.; four grandchildren, Barry Montgomery, Doug Collins, John Collins III and Kim Montgomery Mills; and seven great-grandchildren, Ben Montgomery, Becky Montgomery, Clay Collins, Morgan Collins, Logan Collins, Meg Mills and Matthew Mills.

Funeral was Sunday, Oct. 3, at Columbia Christian Church. Bros. Raymond Martin and Terry White officiated. Burial was in Columbia cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Columbia Christian Church Debt Retirement Fund and may be left at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were John Collins Jr., Doug Collins, Barry Montgomery, John Collins III, Tommy Mills and David Martin.

Grissom Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Roxie Ozell Davis, 84

Roxie Ozell Davis, 84, of Green County, Ky., died on Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, at Jane Todd Crawford Hospital in Greensburg, Ky.

Daughter of the late Frank and Annie Wright Davis, she was born in Green County on June 12, 1920. She was a member of Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church of the Nolynn Association.

She was married to Boyce Cutler Davis, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Scottie and Pat Davis of Greensburg; two daughters and three sons-in-law, Reeda and Jim Woolf of Hickory, N.C., and Zora and Jasper Clymer of Greensburg and Junior Wooldridge, all of Greensburg; three sisters, Wanain Judd of Elizabethtown, Ky., Orvenice Bishop of Greensburg and Athena Vaughn of Bowling Green, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Boyce Davis Jr.; two daughters, Gay Wooldridge and Willow Norris; and one sister, Media Tucker.

Funeral was Wednesday, Sept. 29 at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg. Bros. Keith Sullivan and David Dickens officiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church cemetery of the Nolynn Association.

Pallbearers were Wilford Davenport, Kevin Davis, Mitchell Price, David Ogles, Terry Greenwell, George Waldrop, Troy Clymer, Bruce Clymer, Cole Davis and Michael Price.

The Rev. Joseph Ignatius 'J.I.' Dawson, 71

The Rev. Joseph Ignatius "J.I." Dawson, 71, of Dunedin, Fla., died on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at Mease-Dunedin Hospital in Dunedin.

Son of the late Louis P. and Mary Edna Flaherty Dawson, he was a native of New Haven, Ky., and was ordained a Roman Catholic priest on May 26, 1962. He retired from active ministry in 2002 after 40 years of service. He had been assigned to several area churches including St. Francis of Assisi Church in St. Francis, Ky.; Cumberland Catholic now Holy Cross Catholic Church in Burksville, Ky.; St. Bernard Church in Clementsville, Ky.; Sacred Heart Church in Liberty, Ky.; and Holy Name of Mary Church in Calvary, Ky., and Our Lady of Fatima Church in Phillipsburg, Ky., from which he retired in 2002.

Survivors include four sisters, Miriam Hagan of New Haven, Ky., Catherine Aline Pytlesky of Lawrenceburg, Ind., Mary Camilla Dawson of Louisville, Ky., and Mary Ann Bowling of Kennesaw, Ga.; three brothers, Louis William Dawson of Louisville, Francis Xavier Dawson of Fairfield, Calif., and George Thomas Dawson of Baltimore; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Robert Francis "Bobby" Dawson.

Funeral was on Monday, Oct. 4 at St. Catherine Church in New Haven, with burial in St. Catherine Church cemetery, New Haven. The Most Rev. Thomas C. Kelly, Archbishop of Louisville, officiated.

Joseph L. Greenwell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Lee Haydon, 59

Bobby Lee Haydon, 59, of Loretto, Ky., died at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at his home.

Son of the late Russell and Eva Tatum Haydon, he was born in Washington County, Ky., on Aug. 8, 1945. He was a school bus driver and a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was married to Mary Ann Haydon for 39 years. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Eva Lynn and Bradley A. Hall of Houston, Texas and Kimberly S. and Timmy G. Jones of Loretto; one son, Tommy Lee Haydon and his friend Nina Thomas of Campbellsville, Ky.; eight sisters and six brothers-in-law, Maymie Jane and Virgie Lee Hill of Springfield, Ky., Lily Josephine and Billy Mudd of Bloomfield, Ky., Texie Louise Oldham of Fairdale, Ky., Betty Sharon and Freddie Hagan of Holy Cross, Ky., Mary Frances and T.J. Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, Pamela Kay Hartley of Fairdale, Linda Gayle and Charles Edward Johnson of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Nancy Joyce and Roy Glenn Walker of Campbellsville; one brother and sister-in-law, William Earl "Billy" and Tammy Haydon of Beattyville, Ky.; and eight grandchildren, Pat Short of Indiana, Levi Haydon, Lincoln Haydon, Tyler Jones, Brittany Jones and Janice LeaAnn Jones, all of Loretto, and Megan Hall and Logan Hall, both Houston, Texas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Nancy Haydon and Maymie Rucine and Robert Tatum.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in St. Francis, Ky. The Rev. R. Joseph Hemmerle will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Marion County Honor Guard.

Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto is in charge of the arrangements.
