Richard L. Settles, 75

Richard L. Settles, 75, of Louisville, Ky., died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at his home.

Son of the late Elmer and Katie Bryant Settles, he was born in Marion County, Ky., on Nov. 12, 1930. He was a member of Southeast Christian Church and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was married to Mary Davenport, who preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1994. He married Hazel M. Robertson Root on June 22, 1996. She survives.

Survivors also include four sons, Douglas Settles of Green County, Ky., Dale Warf of Louisville and Thomas D. Root and Frank Root, both of Illinois; three daughters, Teresa Bitner, Pam Johnson and Enola Patterson, all of Illinois; a brother, James Settles of Allen, Ky.; three grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral was Saturday, April 15 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg. The Rev. Clayton Klingenfus officiated. Burial was in Macedonia cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers were Tommy Root, Perry Higgs, Alfred Bryant, Bobby Beauchamp, Ed Soto, Eric Bitner and Nathan Rayburn.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Louisville and can be made at the funeral home.

Myrta Bratcher Stice

Myrta N. Bratcher Stice of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Bowling Green, Ky., Louisville, Ky., and Campbellsville, died on Monday, April 17, 2006.

Daughter of the late Louis and Maude Bratcher, she attended Gulf Coast Church of Christ in Fort Meyers, Fla.

He was married to Amon Stice for 51 years. He survives.

Survivors also include a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Rob Lewis of Fort Meyers; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Leymon Stice of Fort Meyers and Nathan and Kendra Stice of Naples, Fla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Nokie and Bobby Stice of Cape Coral; a brother, Alston Bratcher of Bowling Green; and five grandchildren, Rachel Lewis and Jacob Lewis, both of Fort Meyers, Chad Stice, Shalana Stice and Danielle Stice, all of Naples.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Lindell Bratcher; and three sisters, Alma Lee, Myrna Cook and Nolua Johnson.

Funeral was Friday, April 26 at J.C. Kirby and Son Lover's Lane Chapel in Bowling Green. Burial was in Bowling Green Gardens.

Virgil Warren, 94

Virgil Warren, 94, of Robinson Ridge Road in Knifley, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at Summit Manor Nursing Home.

Son of the late Will and Lettie Warren, he was the oldest member of Robinson Chapel Church.

He was married to Thelma Warren, who preceded him in death in 1999.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Audrey Warren of Columbia, Ky., Eventis and Francis Warren and Russell and Paula Warren, all of Knifley, and Bennie and Betty Warren of Dunnville, Ky.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Bonita and the Rev. George Hancock, Vonda and Frankie Welliver and Linda and Larry Hughes, all of Knifley; a daughter-in-law, Juanita Warren of Columbia; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Welby Warren of Knifley.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Troy Warren; a sister, Dora Warren; 10 brothers, Paul Warren, Oral Warren, Shelby Warren, Olis Warren, Mitchell Warren, John Warren, Joseph Warren, Clyde Warren, Roy Warren and Estil Warren.

Funeral was Saturday, April 15 at Lyon DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. The Revs. Raymond Atwood and George Hancock officiated. Burial was in Robinson Chapel cemetery.

Pallbearers were Bobby Hughes, Steven Warren, Greg Warren, Michael Warren, Anthony Warren, Terry Hancock and Kelly Warren.

Honorary pallbearers were Delbert Warren, Wayne Warren, Jeremy Hughes and Timmy Warren.

Clifford Kyle Collett Jr., 38

Clifford Kyle Collett Jr., 38, of Smith Ridge Road in Campbellsville died Saturday, April 29, 2006.

He was the son of Betty Gilbert of Bradfordsville, Ky. and Clifford Collett of Corbin, Ky.

Survivors also include a daughter, Whitley Nicole Collett of Campbellsville; his step-father, Jim Gilbert of Bradfordsville; a brother, Chris Collett of Corbin; a sister, Savannah Gilbert of Bradfordsville; his grandfather, Olan Hall of Campbellsville; three stepbrothers, John Russell Gilbert of Bradfordsville, Michael Gilbert of Bardstown, Ky., and David Gilbert of Lebanon, Ky.; and two stepsisters, Cindy Gilbert of Campbellsville and Missy Gilbert of Bardstown.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Ryder Collett in 1989.

Funeral was Tuesday, May 2 at Lyon DeWitt Funeral Home Chapel in Campbellsville. The Rev. Gene Shields officiated. Burial was in Poplar Grove cemetery.

Pallbearers were Timmy Humphress, Craig Warner, Mark Sallee, Keith Mann, Chad Warren, Gary Begley and Biggen Burress.

Allene Pierce, 92

Allene Pierce, 92, of Campbellsville, formerly of Green County, Ky., died Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010, at Grandview Nursing & Rehab Center.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Margy Pierce of Campbellsville and Verlon and Brenda Pierce of Bowling Green, Ky.

Funeral was Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg, Ky. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Robert W. Smith, 84

Robert W. Smith, 84, of Woodstock, Ga. died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, in Woodstock, Ga.

Son of the late Howard Smith and Ethel Myers Smith, he was born in Johnstown, N.Y. on March 9, 1926. He was of the Catholic faith, a Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator in the Knights of Columbus, a retired professional fireman for Gloversville, N.Y. and a member of the Teamsters Union. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was married to June M. Beman on April 10, 1948. She survives.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert F. and Alyce Smith of Marietta, Ga.; four granddaughters, Heidi West, Hillary Fitzpatrick, Jetta Smith and Kendra Smith; four great-grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Buddy Smith and Barbara Smith Miller; and several other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Howard Smith.

Funeral was Sunday, Nov. 28 at Palestine Baptist Church cemetery in Campbellsville. Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Thomas A. White Jr., 54

Thomas A. White Jr., 54, of Eubank, Ky. died at 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, in Somerset, Ky.

Son of the late Thomas A. White Sr. and Mary Hovious White, he was born on March 24, 1956, in Adair County, Ky. He professed faith in Christ and was a former millwright.

Survivors include two brothers and two sisters, Rodney White of PeeWee Valley, Ky., Richard Neil Corbin and his wife, Mary, of Louisville, Ky. and Glendora Cecil and Roseanna Lynn Hurst, both of Lawrenceburg, Ky.; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral was Friday, Nov. 26 at Brookside cemetery in Campbellsville. Bro. Daniel Cook officiated.

Evelyn Cox, 78

Evelyn Cox, 78, of Campbellsville, died at 1:25 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, in Campbellsville.

Daughter of the late Ray Powell and Mary Opal Bryant Powell, she was born in Adair County, Ky. on May 31, 1932. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and was a former telephone operator and former employee of Southway Restaurant.

She was married to Billy Cox on Oct. 16, 1960. He preceded her in death on Jan. 31, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Debby Neat of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Vicki and Ronnie Milby of Campbellsville; four granddaughters, Leigh Dragoo of Elizabethtown, Ky., Erica Grant and her husband, Matt, of Murfreesboro, Tena Kelly of Campbellsville and Teri Kelly of Lexington, Ky.; eight great-grandchildren, Sierra Graybeal, Devin Graybeal, Dalton Grant, Cade Grant, Addyson Grant, Carli Dragoo, Brady Dragoo and Isaiah Bradshaw; a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Bobby Hill of Bowling Green, Ky.; and several other relatives and friends.

Funeral was Sunday, Nov. 28 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Richard Lowe and Bro. Delbert Dix officiated. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Dr. Phillip E. Shaw, 74

Dr. Phillip E. Shaw, 74, of Taylor County died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at his home.

Son of the late Donald Walter and Phyllis Eames Shaw, he was born on Oct. 10, 1936, in Elgin, Ill. He had made a profession of faith at an early age and had been a chiropractor from 1964 until 2010.

He was married to Tammy Brummett Shaw, who survives.

Survivors also include five children and their spouses, Jerry and Susan Shaw of Lawrenceburg, Ky., Laura and Scott Caldwell of Indian Harbor Beach, Fla., Tracy and Rod Moore of Greensburg, Ky., Dr. Stephen W. and Brooke Shaw of Greensburg and Ryan Shaw of Marietta, Ga.; four grandchildren, Jordan Moore, Matt Shaw, Bailey Shaw and Casey Caldwell; a brother, Jeff Shaw of Deerfield, Ill.; a sister, Susan Burgess of Columbiaville, Mich.; and several other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Terra Shaw; a granddaughter, Mary Kate Moore; and a brother, Stephen Shaw.

A Celebration of life service is today, Thursday, Dec. 2, from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Dr. Phillip E. Shaw Chiropractic Office, located at 1900 Greensburg Road in Campbellsville. All family and friends are invited.

Donations may be made to the Mary Kate Moore Scholarship Fund and can be made at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home in Greensburg.

Margaret Acree, 83

Margaret Acree, 83, of Campbellsville died at 6:59 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010, in Elizabethtown, Ky.

Daughter of the late Wilbur K. Smith and Myrtie Pearl Durham Smith, she was born in Taylor County on Sept. 7, 1927. She was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church.

She was married to Garland Odell Acree in December 1947. He preceded her in death on Nov. 3, 1969.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law and a son, Ann and Butch Cox and Paul "Dick" Acree, all of Campbellsville; four granddaughters, Lauryn Cox of Campbellsville and Allison Acree, Jennifer Acree and Elizabeth DiNapoli and her husband, Louis, all of Victor, N.Y.; a sister, Frances Smith of Campbellsville; a beloved nephew, Huston "Sonny" Mardis of Campbellsville; and several other nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Allen King Acree; and two sisters and five brothers, Elizabeth Mardis, Elsie Parson, Richard Smith, Huston Smith, Ralph Smith, Albert Smith and Ben Smith.

Funeral was Monday, Nov. 29 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Rev. Brent Gupton and Dr. Charles Hedrick officiated. Burial was in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens.

Sara Pike, 98

Sara Pike, 98, of Campbellsville died at 10:58 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, in Campbellsville.

Daughter of the late Charles Clayton Goodin and Julia Ann Fitzpatrick Goodin, she was born on Aug. 31, 1912, in Adair County, Ky. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.

She was married to Ira Pike on April 4, 1932. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1989.

Survivors include two daughters and a son and their spouses, Rita Faye Caulk of Campbellsville, Geraldine and Wilton Sullivan of Jamestown, Tenn. and Larry and Juanita Pike of Louisville, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ira Lynwood Pike on Sept. 15, 2006; and nine siblings.

Funeral was Tuesday, Nov. 30 at Green River Memorial Baptist Church cemetery. Dr. James E. Jones officiated. Parrott and Ramsey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Roy George Wilson, 57

Roy George Wilson, 57, of Campbellsville died at 1 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, in Campbellsville.

Son of the late Herman Wilson and Alice Paine Wilson, he was born on Oct. 5, 1953, in Taylor County. He was a member of Saloma Baptist Church, a former construction employee and was very fond of going to ballgames with his children when young and enjoyed NASCAR.

Survivors include a son and a daughter and their spouses, Chad and Amanda Wilson of Campbellsville and Jamie and Tommy Wright of Elk Horn, Ky.; a granddaughter, Saylor Alyse Wilson of Campbellsville; two brothers and a sister and their spouses, Danny and Connie Wilson and Darlene and Larry Marcum of Campbellsville and Donald and Debbie Wilson of Moorsville, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral was Saturday, Nov. 27 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. The Revs. John Chowning and Brian Rafferty officiated. Burial was in Brookside cemetery.

Kenneth Peterson, 71

Kenneth Peterson, 71, of Campbellsville died at 9:35 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, in Campbellsville.

Son of Catherine Hartman Peterson of Gillette, Penn. and the late Archie Peterson, he was born December 13, 1938, in Elmira, New York. He was a member of Woodlawn Christian Church, a retired glazier with Central Kentucky Glass Co. and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, served in the United States Army as a military policeman.

He was married to Rosemary Cushman on Aug. 5, 1966. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2000.

Survivors include a daughter and four sons and their spouses, Genie Peterson and Terry Kingsley of Campbellsville, David J. and Kayla Peterson of Lawrenceville, Penn., Martin Peterson and Douglas J. Peterson, both of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Kenneth Andy Peterson of Charlotte, N.C.; a stepson, Edward R. Ostrander of Elmira, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers, Phyllis Peterson Sasenbury and Richard Peterson of Elmira, Robert Peterson of Pittsburgh, Penn., Nils Peterson of Troy, Penn. and Judy Peterson Ameigh of Gillette; and several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends, including his special family at Grandview Nursing Home.

In addition to his father and wife, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Raymond Ostrander; and a grandson, Christopher J. Rice.

Funeral was Saturday, Nov. 27 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville. Minister Larry "Fella" Wilson and the Rev. Brian Rafferty officiated.

Beatrice Whitlow Creason, 87

Beatrice Whitlow Creason, 87, of Greensburg, Ky., died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at the Medco Center of Campbellsville.

She was the daughter of the late William "Bill" Whitlow and Ollie Druin Whitlow.

Funeral was Saturday, Nov. 27 at Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greenburg. Burial was in Green County Memory Gardens. Bros. Robert Knight and Ronda Arnett officiated.
