Margie Elliott, 57, of Dry Ridge, died Thursday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Zion Baptist Church, Cincinnati.
Survivors include her husband, Edward Elliott of Dry Ridge; a son, James Elliott of Walton; daughters, C. Renay Roberts of Dry Ridge, Marlana Nelson of Loveland, Ohio, Teresa Bosley of Parris Island, S.C., and Andrea Kannady of Williamstown; brothers, Bill Layers of Pittsburgh and John Layers of Sardinia, Ohio; and a sister, Eva Shaffer of Amelia, Ohio.

Harmon S. Overbey, 86, of Mt. Olivet, died Friday at Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Lexington. He was a retired farmer and former member of the Kentucky House of Representatives. As a state representative he sponsored the bill that gave 18-year-olds the right to vote in Kentucky elections.
He was a member of Piqua Christian and Mt. Olivet First Christian churches and of Mt. Olivet Lodge No. 291 F&AM, Riley M. See American Legion Post, and a former member of Mt. Olivet Lions Club.
His wife, Virginia Roseamond Godbey Overbey, died June 24. Survivors include a son, William Harmon Overbey of Crescent Springs; a daughter, Nancy Lelia Overbey Linville of Mt. Olivet; and four grandchildren.
Services and visitation are pending. Burial will be in Piqua Christian Church Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Olivet Christian Church or to the charity of choice. Kain and Kabler Funeral Home, Mt. Olivet, is handling arrangements.

Sue Elizabeth Teremi, 76, of Covington, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a retired clerical worker for R. L. Polk Co., Cincinnati and a member of Imanuel Baptist Church, Covington.
Her husband, Peter Teremi Jr., died earlier this year. A son, Peter Teremi, died in 1994. Survivors include a son, James Teremi of Wascilla, Alaska; a brother, Charles Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at Radel Funeral Home, Newport, with visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Lorene Baskin Vance, 71, of Covington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Covington.
Survivors include her husband, Charlie P. Vance; sons, Charles Leonard Vance of Dallas, Howard Vance and Edward Vance, both of Covington and Hilliard Vance of Elsmere; daughters, Constance Goldsby of Covington, Malvonia McCauley of Lemon, Calif., and Phyllis Pass of San Diego; sisters, Ella Baker, Cora Simms and Nettie Morris of Cincinnati, and Lueaver Jasper of Covington; 21 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the church, with visitation from 5:30 p.m. Burial will be in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington. Jones and Simpson Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.

Dr. Robert Charles Smith, medical pioneer, devoted father
Dr. Robert Charles Smith was a pioneering medical authority who opened the first mental health units at the old Boothe Hospital and St. Elizabeth Medical Centers.
He also opened the electroencephalogram departments at St. Luke and St. Elizabeth hospitals. And he was a member and an assistant trustee of the Kentucky Medical Association and a past president of the Northern Kentucky Medical Society.
Besides being an outstanding doctor, Mr. Smith was a family man who encouraged his children to excel, said daughter-in-law, Terry Burt of Alexandria. Two of Dr. Smith's sons became doctors, as well.
"He always thought education was the key. He loved to read and knew history. We always wanted him to play Trivial Pursuit because he knew all the answers," Mrs. Burt said.
Dr. Smith, 78, of Northport, Fla., and Highland Heights, died Friday at his home in Highland Heights.
He enjoyed his hobbies as much as medical practice, Mrs. Burt said.
He was an excellent wood carver; he gardened and grew fruit trees; he studied birds and was a solid electrician. He also made a habit of attending his grandson's basketball games.
"He was very quiet, very easy-going," Mrs. Burt said.
"He was an outstanding person. He was born in Cincinnati and grew up in Covington and he loved to travel."
Dr. Smith was a member of American Psychiatric Association, the Ohio State Medical Association, the Covington Scottish Rite and the Syrian Temple in Cincinnati. He was a member of the American Medical EEG Association and was a Founding Fellow of the American Geriatrics Society. After retiring, he taught wood carving at Campbell County Senior Center.
Dr. Smith also was an Army veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include his wife, Dorothy Eicher Smith; sons, Dr. Victor R. Smith, Dr. R. Christopher Smith and Mark T. Smith, all of Cincinnati, and Bill Burt of Alexandria; daughters, Mel issa F. Hall of Scottsburg, Ind., Pamela A. Reed and Carol Speaks, both of Highland Heights; a sister, Gay Garnett of Conroe, Texas ; 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Paul Episcopal Church, Newport. Dr. Smith's body is being donated to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Warren Gaston Adams, 73, of Erlanger, died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was an electrical engineer with Litton Industries and Aerojet General Corp. He also was a member of Florence Masonic Lodge No. 949 F&AM, Indra Consistory Scottish Rite and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a Merchant Marine during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Sally Amistoso Adams; a daughter, Kathleen Adams of Erlanger; sons, Daniel Adams of Fayetteville, Ohio, Michael Adams of Linden, Mich., and Richard Adams of Demossville; sisters, Juanita McIntosh of Lenoir City, Tenn., and Nancy Feldon of Denver, N.C.; a brother, Blake Adams of Sanford, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Camp Nelson Cemetery, Nicholasville. Earl M. Arnsparger, 81, of Latonia, died at 10:40 p.m. Sunday at his home. He was a retired owner/operator of Earl's Barber Shop, Latonia, and a former truck driver. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 203. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of Disabled American Veterans.
His wife, Gladys Louise Arnsparger, died in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Gary E. Arnsparger of Edgewood, and a grandson.

Jewell Louise Beckett, 100, of Butler, died Sunday at River Valley Nursing Home in Butler. She was a farmer and a member of Butler Baptist Church.
Survivors include a nephew, John Beckett of Butler; and a cousin, Jim Beckett of Butler.

James M. Broadaway, 77, of Ludlow, died at 4 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired driver with Square Deal Cartage Co., Detroit, and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Ludlow. He was a member of the church's Methodist Men organization; a member of the Teamsters Union and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Broadaway; a daughter, Karen Parrott of Ludlow; and two grandchildren.

Nora Caswell, 81, of Walton, died at 2:48 a.m. Monday at Grant Manor Nursing Home, Williamstown. She was a retired caregiver with Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence.

Jack Stanley Cecil, 81, of Latonia, died at 9:50 p.m. Sunday at Rosedale Manor Nursing Home in Latonia. He was a retired executive market representation manager with Ford Motor Co., and a member of St. Mark United Church of Christ, Latonia, where he sang in the church choir. He also was a volunteer with St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington, and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Marie Dirkes, 67, of Ft. Wright, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday at Gallatin Health Care Center, Warsaw. She was a homemaker and a member of Emergency Support Team of Ft. Wright and Ft. Wright Garden Club. Her husband, Nicholas B. Dirkes, died in 1995.

Stanley Morris Dougherty, 81, of Highland Heights, died Monday at his home. He was an insurance adjuster with Continental Life Insurance, and a member of First Baptist Church, Cold Spring. He also was a Shriner, a member of the Scottish Rite, a past president of the Cincinnati Claims Association and an Army veteran of World War II.

Gladys Streeter Fullerton, 92, of Florence, died at 7:01 a.m. Monday at her home. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Covington, and a former member of Florence Woman's Club. She also was a member of Boone County Garden Club and the Cincinnati chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her husband, A. W. Fullerton Jr., died in 1993.

Frank George Glaizer, 82, of Florence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired tool and die model maker with A. O. Smith Co. in Tipp City, Ohio, and a former member of the Elks Lodge in Troy, Ohio. He also was a member of the Tipp City Eagles, and an Army veteran. His first wife, Jane Glaizer Crawley, died in 1986. His second wife, Virginia Bausman Glaizer, died in 1994. A daughter, Virginia Millhouse, died in 1988.

Robert Goebel, 67, of Alton, Ill., formerly of Villa Hills, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday at his home. He was a superintendent of maintenance with the sanitation departments in Bromley and Kansas City, Kan., and with St. Frances Martyr of St. George Convent Church in Alton. His first wife, Dorothy Jane Goebel, died in 1985.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Mary Goebel; daughters, Sister Raphaele O.S.F. of New Jersey, Joyce Goebel of Taylor Mill, Jean Miller of Latonia, Janet Cropper of Edgewood and Judy Tingley of Erlanger; sons, James Goebel of Shreveport, La., and John Goebel of Las Vegas; and 13 grandchildren.
