Mary G. Ryles

Mary G. Ryles, 88, Cave City, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at NHC Healthcare of Glasgow, where she resided for the past several years under the loving care of their staff and her caregivers Connie Groce and Charlsie Gray. She was born on August 18, 1921 in Franklin County, KY to the late George W. Webster and Willeana H. Sanford Webster. On April 2, 1948, she married Canby “Red” Ryles who preceded her in death.

They lived in several states during Red’s IBM career. Mary co-owned a beauty shop in Frankfort, KY for several years and later was a nursery school teacher in Minnesota. They retired to Cave City in 1986 and enjoyed the friendliness and kindness of the community.

Survivors include two daughters, Janice Gray Ryles of Ft. Collins, CO, Janet Lynn Ryles of Aurora, CO; two sisters, Wilna Magers and Lillian Webster, both of Cave City and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, George Webster and Robert Webster.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, August 20th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Glasgow Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 5PM Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cave City Baptist Church Youth Ministry.

Alfred “Jay” Lowe III

Alfred “Jay” Lowe III, 61, Robards, Kentucky passed away September 06, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Henderson, KY after a sudden illness. The Fayette County native was the son of the late Alfred Jay Lowe, JR and Jane Jones Lowe. He was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and of the Methodist Faith. He was a retired probation officer for the state of KY.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Ramsey Lowe, Robards; brothers, Scott Lowe (Donna) of Bowling Green, Todd Lowe (Fran) of Louisville; a niece, Becky Bridgeman (J.B.), a nephew, Zack Lowe; great nephews, Ashton and Ayden Bridgeman all of Bowling Green; his mother and father-in-law, Doris & Jerome Ramsey, Franklin, TN; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law of Nashville, TN. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Terry Ramsey.

Funeral services will be at 11AM, Thursday, September 09 at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM and Thursday from 9 AM until time of services.

Darlene G. Ernst

Darlene G. Ernst, 55, Cave City, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at her home after losing her long battle with cancer. The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Will Isenberg and Laura Minor Isenberg Gossett. She was a member of Little Hope Baptist Church and a retired nurse’s aide at TJ Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Ernst, Cave City; a daughter, Christina Creekmore and her husband Steven, Smith Grove; a step-son, Jason Ernst, Ohio; a half sister, Anna Mae Kidwell, Cave City; grandchildren Brynn and Briley Creekmore; and a special friend, Darlene Sexton, Cave City.

Funeral services with Rev. Otis Sturgeon officiating will be at 2 PM Friday, September 17th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 4 PM Thursday.

Rocky Kenneth King - (1956 - 2009)

Kenneth King, 53, Scottsville, died Thursday, November 5, 2009, at the Scottsville Hospital. The Indiana native was the son of the late Herschel and Willie Stinson King. The husband of Carolyn Dodson King, was a member of North Bowling Green Church of God and employed at the Bowling Green Tech College.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Amanda Burnette, Bowling Green, Tiffany King, Scottsville; a son, William King, Scottsville; a sister, Charlotte Vasquez, Bonnieville; two half sisters, Bernice Moon and Evelyn Cummings, both of Tennessee; three grandchildren, Brittany Burnette, Zackary Burnette, Shawn Burnette, all of Horse Cave and several cousins, nieces and nephews

Funeral services with Rev. Stephen Oliver officiating will be at 2 PM Sunday, November 8th, 2009 at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in Glasgow Memorial Gardens. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 3 pm Saturday.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Anna L. Powell Lee

Mrs. Anna L. Powell Lee, 89, Cave City, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 29, 2010. The Barren County native was the daughter of the late Paul and Fannie Williams Powell. She was the widow of Billy Lee, a retired medical secretary and a member of Cave City Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Emma Laura Childress and Jeanette Furlong, both of Glasgow; a brother, Wesley Powell, Glasgow; a brother-in-law, Edwin Bartley; sixteen nieces and nephews, twenty seven great nieces and nephews and eleven great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Eula Mae Bartley; a brother, Thomas R. Powell; a niece, Betty Cox; a great nephew, Brent Lee Powell; a brother-in-law, Carroll Furlong and a sister-in-law, Lois Powell.

Funeral services with Rev. Stephen Cavness officiating will be at 1PM Saturday, October 2nd at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 3PM Friday.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Carroll E. Furlong Scholarship Fund, 122 Groce St., Glasgow, KY 42141.

Virginia Neal Wilson

Virginia Neal Wilson, 87, Cave City, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2010, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow. The Monroe County native was the daughter of the late Stanley Carlton and Clara Howard Smith and the widow of Alan Byron Wilson. She was a member of the Cave City Baptist Church and a retired medical secretary.

Survivors include three sons, Alan Wilson (Debbie), Shepherdsville, Byron Neal Wilson (Tommie), MS, Stephen Wilson (Charlotte), Lexington; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 3PM Saturday, October 16, at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 4 to 8 PM on Friday and 11AM to 3PM Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA, 22312.

Carolyn Jewell Martin - (1960 - 2009)

Carolyn Jewell Martin, 49, Cave City, passed away Tuesday, December 8th, 2009 at UK Medical Center in Lexington. The Barren County native was the daughter of the late John Henry Jewell and Sarah Frances Coomer Watkins, Cave City, who survives her.

She was employed at T.J. Samson Community Hospital for 26 years and a member of the Cave City Christian Church. She was a member of the Cave City Chamber of Commerce, served as secretary for the Cave Country Lions Club and assisted with the Modern Woodmen Junior Club. She and her husband were recently honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Cave City Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband, Douglas L. Martin; a daughter, Amanda Carol (Nicholas) Sturgeon; a son, Jason Douglas (Lisa) Martin and three grandchildren, Easton Martin, Ashton Martin, Lillian Sturgeon, all of Cave City; a brother, William Earnest Finn, Fairview; four sisters, Judy Fancher and Brenda Humphrey, both of Radcliff, Connie Hughes, Glasgow, Donna Harper, Horse Cave and her step-father, Riley Watkins, Cave City.

Funeral services with Rev. Wayne Hensley officiating will be at 2PM Friday, December 11 at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 1PM Thursday.

Rondal Lee Craine - (1938 - 2010)

Rondal Lee Craine, 72, of Cave City, a very dedicated farmer, passed away after a battle with cancer, at 9:31 PM Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at his home with his wife, children and grandchildren by his side. The Barren County native was the son of the late Veachel and Daisy Gossett Craine and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel Hatcher Craine; his children, Ronnie (Ann) Craine, Rhonda “Peggy” (Ricky) Abernathy, Randy Craine, Becky (Philip) Baise, Rochelle (Jay) Coleman; grandchildren, Jeremy (Terri) Craine, Todd (Heather) Craine, Ryan (Sara) Abernathy, Katurah (Josh) White, Tisha Miller, Randy Lee Craine, Trevor Baise, RJ Baise, Abigail Coleman, Adeline Coleman; great-grandchildren, Kiona Craine, Sierra Murphy, Sydney Abernathy, Shelby Abernathy, Jonathan White; a brother, Paul (Margie) Craine; three sisters, Juanita (Kenny) Deweese, Sharon (Richard) Kinslow, Shelia (Melvin) Hatcher; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services with Rev. Chad Hunt officiating will be at 11 AM, Saturday, February 13th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 6 PM Thursday.

Esta Virginia Mowery

Esta Virginia Mowery, 89, Glasgow, passed away Sunday, July 04, 2010 at Glasgow Health and Rehab. The Cave City native was the daughter of the late Curtis and Annie Lee Middleton Buster, a Mormon and a homemaker. She was a US Navy veteran, having served during WW II.

Survivors include a son, James H. Mowery III of Alexandria, VA and a daughter, Brenda Gail Mowery of Louisville.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM Wednesday, July 7th at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 11 AM Tuesday.

Frank J. Trobaugh

Frank J. Trobaugh, 80, Cave City, KY, formerly of Moline, IL, passed away at his home on Saturday, July 10, 2010. He was born April 27, 1930 in Rushville, IL to the late Thomas Franklin Trobaugh and Hazel Spires Trobaugh-Mandrell. He married the former Geraldine “Geri” Lea Hughes on November 16, 1951.

He was a US Army Paratrooper veteran out of Fort Campbell, KY having served during the Korean Conflict. He worked at Caterpillar for three years before going to John Deere Plow and Planter Works in Moline, IL for eleven years. He then transferred to and retired from John Deere Davenport Works after 17 years.

Frank was a reflexologist for many years, a member of American Legion and the Moose Club in East Moline, IL. For approximately thirty years he was a musician who sang and played in local bands. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved watching cartoons with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine “Geri” Hughes, Cave City; two daughters, Brenda Shirley (Wayne), Glasgow, KY, Penny Hathaway (Slim), Cave City, KY; two sons, Darrell Trobaugh (Colleen), Moline, IL, Wendell Trobaugh, Cave City; a sister, Betty Salter (Don) Bartonville, IL; twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Dale Trobaugh and a sister, Ruby Mullens.

Visitation at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday, July 13th. Mr. Trobaugh will then be transported to Esterdahl Mortuary in Moline, IL for final arrangements.

Lee Esther Turner

Lee Esther Turner, 76, Cave City, passed away on Monday, July 12, 2010 at the Jewish Hospital, Louisville, KY. The Alabama native was the daughter of the late James and Ida Belle Walters Locke. She was a homemaker and member of the Cave City Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Leonard Turner, Cave City; two sons, Wendell Turner (Cecilia), Columbus, GA, Leonard Turner, Jr., Pensacola, FL; two daughters, Brenda Perry, Birmingham, AL, Regina Faur, Mobile, AL; two brothers, Bill Locke and Hillian Locke, both of Dothan, AL; two sisters, Joann Thomas and Kathy Locke, both of Dothan, AL; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Thursday, July 15, at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 5PM Wednesday.

Mrs. Alyne Reddnarah

Mrs. Alyne Reddnarah, 70, Cave City, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010, at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow. The Metcalfe Co. Native was the daughter of the late Paul and Flora Bell Harper Riddle. She was a member of Free Bethel Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Luther Reddnarah, Jr, Cave City; a daughter, Deborah Pedigo (David), Cave City; two sisters, Charlene Ison (Phil), Hope, IN, Virginia Smith (Ernie), Columbus, IN and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Riddle and three sisters, Joyce England, Mary Gates and Mayme Riddle.

Funeral services will be at 1PM Tuesday, October 26 at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 3PM Monday.

Anne Elizabeth Davis

Anne Elizabeth Davis, 42, Cave City, passed away Saturday, October 30, 2010 at her residence. The Massachusetts native was the daughter of the late William Patrick (Skip) and Patricia Marie Callahan Farrell.

Survivors include two daughters, Cassandra Schoolcraft, West Springfield, Mass., Skyeanne Carter, Cave City; two brothers, Jay Farrell (Angie), Cave City, Tommy Lemay, MA; five sisters, Phyllis Dobosz (John), MA, Regina Houle (David), MA, Patty Hatfield, MA, Christina Martin, LA, and Courtney Farrell, MA.

Memorial services will be on Thursday from 5 to 7 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Glasgow. There will be no visitation. Cremation was chosen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses, Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 457, Cave City, KY 42127.

Clifford Houchin Coats

Clifford Houchin Coats, 72, Cave City, passed away Monday, November 15, 2010 at T. J. Samson Community Hospital, Glasgow. The Hart County native was the son of the late John and Lottie Houchin Coats. The US Army Veteran was an assistant manager at Houchens Market and member of Servant Valley Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Poynter, Cave City and a brother, Cletus Coats (Betty), Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by a son, John William Coats and a sister, Clydia Gaye Coats.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM Thursday, November 18 at Servant Valley Baptist Church with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be from 5 PM to 8 PM today (Tuesday). Visitation will resume at the church after 10 AM Wednesday and continue until time of service on Thursday.

Willie “Joe” Gossett

Willie “Joe” Gossett, 65, Glasgow, passed away Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. The Barren County native was the son of the late Alvie James and Hattie Lee Doyle Gossett. He was a farmer and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include a son, Chad Gossett (Rhonda), Germany; two daughters, Michelle Carter, Park City, Nicki Johnson (Rodney), Park City; grandchildren, Chandler Gossett, Jorelyn Gossett, Mikayla Carter, Breanna Johnson, Bailey Johnson; three brothers, Paul Gossett (Marcia), Bushnell, IL, Douglas Gossett (Frankie), Horse Cave, Junior Gossett, Cave City; four sisters, Hazel Smith (Mike), Park City, Berthie Adwell, Betty Poynter, Francis Minor (George Woodford), all of Cave City; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, James Gossett and two sisters, Helen Minor and Margaret Gossett.

Funeral services will be at 11 AM Friday, July 16 at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Evergreen cemetery, Park City. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 4 PM Thursday.

Mary Elizabeth Jaggers McGavic

Mary Elizabeth Jaggers McGavic, 86, Cave City, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Hart County Health Care in Horse Cave. The Hart County native was the daughter of the late Richard and Ella Mae Denton Jaggers and the widow of Melvin C. McGavic. She was a member of the Cave City Baptist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jean White Brown, Colleyville, TX.; two brothers, George “Buster” Jaggers (Brenda), Horse Cave, Lenard Jaggers (Ruth), Magnolia; two half brothers, Larry Jaggers (Pat), Canmer, Mark Jaggers, Canmer; two half sisters, Brenda Jaggers, Bowling Green, Linda Jaggers Bennett, Bowling Green; a sister-in-law, Martha Stamper (Sheldon); three grandchildren, Duana Klein (Roger), Craig Brown (Roseanna), Eric Brown (Claudette); three great grandchildren, Alex Brown, Addison Brown, Zachary Brown; a special nephew, Jim McGavic, Horse Cave and several other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce McGavic and a son-in-law, Duane Y. Brown.

Funeral Services will be at 1PM Thursday, October 21st at the Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 4PM Wednesday.

Melvin Carter Harper

Melvin Carter Harper, 66, Cave City, passed away at his home on Monday, November 01, 2010. The Metcalfe County native was the son of the late Jasper and Lillie Jessie Harper. He was member of the Hiseville Masonic Lodge #787, an insurance agent and of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Gossett Harper, Cave City; a son, Tim Harper (Michelle), Orlando, FL; a daughter, Karen McNeill (Matt), Glasgow; four grandchildren, Brittany Harper and Lily Harper of Louisville, Candice and Chance Champlin of Orlando, FL.

Funeral services will be at 1 PM Thursday, November 4th at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel, Cave City, with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Masonic rites will be at 7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Visitation at the funeral home will be after 3 PM Wednesday.
