Mrs. Sherrie Ann Smith, age 57 of Indian Mound, Tenn., died Saturday, April 26th, 2008, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 2pm with Bro. Jarvis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Warren County Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late James Martin, Jr. and Gene & Carol Thurmond who survive. In addition to her mother and step father, she is survived by her husband - Don Smith of Indian Mount, TN.; 3 daughters - Shellie Vazquez and husband Humberto of Russellville, Tiffany Sanford and husband Mark of Russellville and Angela Greer of Adairville; 1 sister - Terrie Mincy of Franklin; 2 brothers- James Martin, Jr. of Adairville and Mark Martin of Springfield, TN.; grandparents - Cecil and Juanita Beach of Bowling Green; 8 step children - Harold D. Smith, Jr., Richard D. Smith and Jerry Smith all of Lubbock, Texas, James F. Smith and Donald Smith both of Indian Mound, Donna Jean Baker of Columbus, GA, John F. Smith of Hopkinsville and Benjamin Smith of Camp LeJune, N. C.; 10 step grandchildren and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 6 to 9pm Monday and after 6am Tuesday at Crafton Funeral Home.

A former Franklin resident, Mrs. Phyllis Denney Nipper, age 72 of Louisville, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 11am. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Nipper was a Harlan County Kentucky native. Survivors include her husband - Gene Nipper of Louisville; 1 son - Stan Baker of Franklin; 2 daughters - Kelly Rainwaters of Auburn and Pam Baker of Franklin; 1 sister - Guynetch Evans of Middlesboro, KY; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 2pm Friday and after 6am Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Archie Eugene Saxton, Jr., age 31 of Franklin, died Tuesday, April 15th, 2008 at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Sunday at 2pm with burial to follow in Sulphur Spring cemetery. A native of Mayfield, Kentucky, he was the son of Archie Saxton, Sr. and Deborah Senter Saxton who both reside in Franklin. In addition to his parents he is survived by 2 brothers - Mitchell and Jeremy Saxton of Franklin ; 1 sister - Sherrita Saxton of Franklin; paternal grandparents - Marie & Ben Saxton of Mayfield, Ky. and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents - Gene & Mary Senter. The wake will be from 6 to 8pm Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. James E. Cook, age 71 of Franklin, died Thursday evening, April 17th, 2008, at the Alive Hospice in Madison, TN. Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3pm at Smyrna Church in Allen County. A native of Madison, Tennessee, he was the son of the late James Cook and Ruth Jones Cook. Mr. Cook was a retired employee of Ford Glass Plant in Nashville. Survivors include his wife - Patricia Sutton Cook of Franklin; 2 daughters - Cindy Carroll and husband Danny and Tanya McCuthcheon and husband Jerry.; 2 step sons - Greg and Patrick Fox. Visitation will be from 2pm to 3pm Sunday at Smyrna Church.

Mr. Brad Thomas Humphrey, age 33 of Franklin, died Wednesday, April 16th, 2008, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 1pm with burial to follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of Tommy Humphrey who resides in Franklin & Gloria Morris Brassell who also resides in Franklin. He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Russellville and a member of the 1993 Franklin Simpson graduating class. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife - Shea Holloway Humphrey of Franklin; 3 sons- Dean Austin Canler, Evan Thomas Humphrey and Gram Carson Humphrey all of Franklin; 2 sisters- Cindy Metheney of Franklin and Wendy Stewart of Scottsville; 2 brothers - Corey Brassell of Greenville, KY and Michael Perry of Scottsville; father & mother in law - Jerry & Carol Holloway of Russellville; maternal grandfather - Thel Morris of Brentwood, TN; step mother - Janice Humphrey of Franklin and several aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step father - Mark Brassell; maternal grandmother - Earlene Goad; paternal grandparents - J. C. & Mattie Humphrey. Visitation will begin at 4pm Friday and after 6am Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. John Classick, Jr., age 84 of Franklin, died Monday, April 14th, 2008, at the Medical Center in Franklin. Cremation was chosen. Crafton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A funeral mass will be held Friday at 2pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in Greenlawn cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard. A native of Memphis, Tenn., he was the son of the late John F. Classick and Mildred Classick. He was an auto serviceman in California. Mr. Classick was a World War II Army Veteran. He is survived by 3 children and 2 step childrenand a granddaughter - Nichole Boyd of Markruz, California. Visitation will be from 5 to 9pm at Crafton Funeral Home with a Rosary Service being held at 7pm.

Mrs. Catherine Perkins Waddell, age 96 of Franklin, died Monday evening, April 14th, 2008, at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3pm at the Living Waters Church in Franklin. Bro. Jim Hightower will officiate and burial wil follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Hart County Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Edward Jackson Perkins and Nora Belle Elkins Perkins. She was retired from General Electric and had worked at Medco Center in Franklin. She was an active member of Living Waters serving on numerous committees. She was preceded in death by her son - Jim Waddell and daughter - Wanda Rawls. Survivors include 1 brother - Bobby Perkins and wife Imogene of Louisville; 5 grandchildren - Ricky Rawls and wife Judy of Portland, Randy Rawls and Cathy Marklin both of Franklin, Tammy Wimpsett and husband Jeff, Cindy Waddell and husband Ricky both of Bardstown; daughter in law - Ann Waddell of Bardstown; 5 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 9am Wednesday and after 6am Thursday at Crafton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church from 12noon until funeral time.

Mrs. Lucille Hunton Hamm, age 86 of Franklin, died Monday morning, April 14th, 2008, at the Hopkins Nursing Home in Woodburn. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1pm at Macedonia General Baptist Church with Bro. Roger Putman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Claude Hunton and Mayme Hayes Hunton. She was a member of Macedonia General Baptist Church and worked and Lenk Company. She was child care giver and took care of numerous children in the community over the years. She was preceded in death by her son - Steve Hamm. Survivors include 3 children - Betty Roberts of Franklin, Glenn Hamm of Portland, TN. and Judy Pitt of Franklin; 1 brother - Buck Hunton of Woodburn; 3 sisters Jonell Baldwin of Bowling Green, Nannie Rhodes of Leitchfield, Ky. And Irma McCue of Lakeland, FL.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 5pm Tuesday and after 6am Wednesday and Thursday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Harlan H. “Skip” Mylin, age 72 of Franklin, died Tuesday, April 8th, 2008 at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral service will be held Monday at 1pm at Crafton Funeral Home with burial to follow in White’s Chapel Church cemetery in Drake, Ky. A native of Buck, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Herbert J. Mylin and Hazel Handel Mylin. He served in the U.S. Army after graduation. He was a carpenter, worked at High Steel and farmed in Quarryville, PA, New Columbia, PA. and in Franklin, KY. Skip inherited and enjoyed the knowledge of antique guns and had a passion for auctions. Survivors include a son - H. Andrew Mylin of State College, PA.; 1 daughter - Brenda Hartley of Quakertown, PA.; 6 brothers - Richard Mylin of Ronks, PA., Dean, Larry, John and Stuart Mylin all of Quarryville, PA., Daniel Mylin of New Providence PA.; 3 sisters - Sally Sanders, Merridee Chaloupka and Kathy Adams all of San Antonio, Texas; 4 grandchildren; Nathaniel, Alyssa, Lucy & Jack. He was preceded in death by his step mother - Kathryn Mylin and a brother - Roger Dale Campbell. Visitation will be from 10am to 1pm Monday at Crafton Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or White’s Chapel Church.

Mr. Rick Stanley, age 49 of Franklin, died Wednesday evening, April 9th, 2008, in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 2p.m. with Rev. Matthew Sickling officiating. Burial will follow in the Sulphur Spring cemetery. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late James Stanley and Lucille Mooneyhan Stanley which survives of Franklin. He was a member of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church, a Kentucky Colonel, and a graduate of Franklin-Simpson Class of 1976. He was an employee of Mansfield Chevrolet in Russellville, Greenup Real Estate and an auctioneer. Survivors include: Son- Alan Stanley--Franklin, Tenn., Brother- Glyn Stanley--White House, Tenn., 2 Nieces, 1 Nephew, 1 Great Nephew, and 1 Great Niece. The family has requested that friends call Crafton Funeral Home after 2p.m. Friday and after 6a.m. Saturday.

Mr. Norman N. Neff, age 73 of Franklin, died Friday morning, April 4th, 2008 at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Monday at 11am with Bro. Brad Stephens and Bro. Doug Meredith officiating. There will be no burial - cremation was chosen. A native of Montgomery County Ohio, he was the son of the late Walter Neff and Ida Keener Neff. He worked for Brown Printing in Franklin for 20 years and was employed for 28 years at McCall Corporation in Dayton, Ohio. He attended Emanuel Bohemian Church. He was a mason of King Hiram Lodge 88 in West Alexandria, Ohio, member of the Antioch Shrine Temple in Dayton and the Franklin Shrine Club. Survivors include his wife - Marlene Neff of Franklin; 3 children - Walter T. Neff of Franklin, Connie Johnson and husband Merle of West Alexandria, Ohio and Rochelle Uhls and husband Eddie of Adolphus, Kentucky; 1 brother - Walter Richard Neff of Xenie, Ohio; 5 grandchildren - Casey Johnson and wife Megan, Lindley Johnson, Adriana Whitman, Ann Marie Uhls and Luke Uhls; 3 great grandchildren - Makenzi Johnson, Adisyn Johnson and Aubri Johnson. He was preceded in death by a son - Adrian Neff and 2 brothers and a sister - Emmertt Neff, Phyllis Reynolds and Larry Neff. Visitation will begin at 4pm Sunday and after 6am Monday at Crafton Funeral Home. Masonic service will be held Sunday evening at 7pm at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. William Gann, age 67 of Franklin, died Saturday, April 5th, 2008, at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 1pm with Bro. Ronnie Carter, Bro. Chuck West and Bro. Dean Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Carl Gann and Fannie Oliver Gann. He was an employee of Potter & Brumfield for 41 years and Lavatta for 5years. Mr. Gann was a Kentucky Colonel, member of Woodlawn Baptist Church and member of the Masonic Lodge #177. Survivors include his wife - Sandi Tinsley Gann of franklin; 4 children - Terri Cummins, Dana Gregory, Ashley Gann Grifin and Clay Gann all of Franklin; 2 brothers- Ernest Gann of South Carolina and James Gann of Franklin; 1 grandson and 1 great granddaughter. Visitation began at 7pm Sunday and will begin again after 6am Monday and Tuesday at Crafton Funeral Home. Masonic services will be held Monday at 7pm at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nobie Groves Summers, age 94 of Franklin, died Monday, March 31st, 2008, at Hopkins Nursing Facility in Woodburn. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Friday at 10am with burial to follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Groves and Alice Dillard Groves. She was preceded in death by her husband - Ernest Summers, a daughter - Bernice Bray, 2 brothers - Paul and Herschel Groves and a sister Molly Harp. Survivors include 7 sons - John William, Leroy, Donnie, Jerry and Gary Summers all of Franklin, Jake Summers of Indianapolis and Carl Summers of Oakland, Florida; a half sister - Anna Pearl Hunter of Franklin; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to 8pm Thursday and after 6am Friday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mary Edwards Spencer, age 56 of Franklin, died Thursday, morning, April 3rd, 2008, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville as a result of complications of pneumonia. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3pm at Sulphur Spring Baptist Church with burial to follow in Sulphur Spring cemetery. Rev. Russell Trotter and Rev. Matthew Sickling will officiate. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of Charles M. Edwards and Lucy Hatter Edwards who survive in Franklin. She was a 1969 graduate of Franklin Simpson High School and retired as Senior Vice President of Simpson County Bank (now Regions) after 33 years of service. Mrs. Spencer and her husband Dale were longtime volunteers of the Shaker Museum at South Union. She was a member of the Sulphur Spring Baptist Church where she was the teacher of the 3 year old Sunday School class, a member of the church choir and served in may other positions over the years. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband - Dale Spencer of Franklin; 1 sister - Glenda Edwards Johnson and husband Claud of Franklin; 1 niece - Kim Johnson Wren and husband Zak of Franklin; 1 nephew - Ryan Johnson and wife Jessica of Franklin; 3 great nephews; 1 brother in law - Howard Spencer and wife Judy of Russellville; mother in law - Dovie Spencer of Auburn. Visitation will be from 3 to 9pm Saturday and after 6am until 11am Sunday at Crafton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state Sunday at the church from 1pm until funeral time at 3pm. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Shaker Museum at South Union, POB 177, Auburn, KY 42206.
