Mrs. Rosie Mae Herrington Vaughn, age 78 of Franklin, died Friday, June 10th, 2011, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Sunday at 3pm with burial to follow in the Beech Grove cemetery in Allen County. A native of Allen County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Nina Herrington. She worked for the Kendall Company. Survivors include 6 daughters – Virginia Crawford, Brenda Fleming, Faye Malone, Diane Barnes, Sandy Lack and Teresa Malone all of Franklin; 1 son – Terry Vaughn of Franklin; 1 sister – Bonnie Mansfield of Scottsville; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 2pm Saturday and after 6am Sunday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Billy Horne, age 70 of Franklin, died Wednesday, June 8th, 2011, at the home of his daughter, in Antioch, Tennessee. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Services will be held Sunday at 2pm at the Elevated Baptist Church with burial to follow in Shady Rest cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Garlester Horne and Ella Griffin Horne. He had worked at the Lenk Company and most recently at the Franklin Walmart. He was a member of the Elevated Baptist Church and an Army Veteran. Survivors include his wife – Donnie Smith Horne of Franklin; 1 daughter – Daphne Hayes of Antioch, TN; 1 brother – Arthur Lee Horne of Louisville; 1 grandson – Carlton Jeffrey Hayes, II of Antioch, TN. The wake will be from 6 to 8pm Saturday at Elevated Baptist Church.

Mr. William G. Moore, age 88 of Franklin, died Wednesday, June 1st, 2011, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Monday at 11am at the Woodburn Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodburn cemetery. A native of Waynesburg, KY, he was the son of the late Boyd Moore and Stella Potter Moore. He was a painter and a member of Woodburn Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife – Emma Owens Moore of Franklin; 1 daughter – Shirley Lorenzo of St. Petersburg, FL; 2 sons – Mike Moore of Bowling Green and Jimmy Moore of Mitchellville, TN; 4 grandchildren – Austin Douglas Moore, Jerry Adams, Johnny and Ryan Moore. Visitation will begin at 9 am Monday at Woodburn Baptist Church.

Mr. Billie Rhea Gann, age 69 of Cross Plains, TN, died Thursday, June 2nd, 2011, at the North Crest Medical Center in Springfield, TN. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Sunday at 3pm with burial to follow in McKendree Chapel cemetery. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Elzie Ray Gann and Lucille Gant Gann. He was equipment operator. Survivors include his wife – Betty Redferin Gann of Cross Plains; 2 daughters – Lisa Ward of Reed, KY and Stacey Stevens of Scottsville; 3 step daughters – Joyce Farmer, Vinnie Evans and Bertha Hanford all of Franklin; 2 step sons – Charles Evans of Orlinda and Johnny Evans of Franklin; 1 sister – Melinda Conner of Frankliln; 3 brothers- Robert Earl Gann of Franklin, Roy Gene Gann of Franklin and Roger Gann of Florida; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2 to 9pm Saturday and after 6am Sunday at Crafton Funeral Home.

A former Franklin resident, Mr. James Warren Redman, age 93 of Williamsburg, KY went to be with his Savior Tuesday, May 31st, 2011, at Baptist Regional Medical Center in Corbin, KY. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10am at the Franklin First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Sulphur Spring cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Guy Redman and Vertrice Bond Redman. He was retired from the Pet Milk Company and also from Southern States Coop. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member and deacon of Franklin First Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mr. Redman was preceded in death by his wife Anna Jewell Travelstead Redman. Survivors include a son – David Redman and wife Shelby of High Ridge, MO; a daughter – Diane Jamison of Williamsburg, KY; four grandchildren – David Redman and wife Judy of High Ridge, MO, Dan Redman and his friend, Sandi Wirt of Naples, FL, Kellye Grimes and husband Donnie of Williamsburg, KY and Mike Jamison and wife Melynda of Danville, KY; five great grandchildren – Shea Redman and his friend, Heather Smith of Imperial, MO, Courtney Redman of Kirksville, MO, Kali Redman of Naples, FL, Malorie Redman of High Ridge, MO and Hailey Grimes of Williamsburg, KY; 1 great great grandchild – Skyler Redman of Imperial, MO; 2 brothers – Raymond Redman and wife Margaret and Howard Redman and wife Sue all of Franklin. Visitation will be begin at 7pm Thursday and after 6am Friday at Crafton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 9am Friday.

Mr. James Henry “Jimmy” Harp, age 68 of Franklin, died Tuesday, May 24th, 2011, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Friday at 11am with Rev. Tim Menser officiating. Burial will follow in Old Brush cemetery in Portland. A native of Robertson County TN, he was the son of the late Henry Harp and Molly Groves Harp. He was preceded in death by a brother – Billy Joe Harp. Survivors include 3 daughters – Jeannie Madison and Judy Bunch both of Franklin and Teresa Jones of Cottontown, TN; 1 sister – Marie Mayes of Franklin; 2 grandchildren – Tyler Madison of Franklin and Kasey Jones of Cottontown, TN and several nephews. Visitation will begin at 1pm Thursday and after 6am Friday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fannie “Polly” Smith Wade, age 98 of Franklin, entered into rest Thursday, May 19th, 2011, at the Medco Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Monday, May 23, at 11am with burial to follow in Greenlawn cemetery. The Simpson County native was born December 23, 1912. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Franklin and the Mildred Sunday School Class. A homemaker and retired employee of the Lenk/Drackett Co., she was the daughter of the late Benton Smith and Ruth Hughes Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Hubert Vreeland Wade, a son – Wilford S. Wade and four siblings – Zula Mayhew, Kathleen Phillips, Russell Smith and Lee Smith. Survivors include her daughter – Rita Bracken of Franklin; granddaughters – June Brown and husband Kenny of Franklin and Jill Duncan and husband Tim of Russellville; great grandchildren – Kelly Davidson and husband Lucas of Bowling Green, Alex Brown of Los Angeles, CA and Carly Duncan of Russellville; sister in law – Myrtle Smith of Franklin; brother in law – Lucian Wade and wife Wiladean of Louisville and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin Sunday at 12 noon and after 6am Monday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Margaret Hollis Brown King, age 63 of Franklin, died Thursday, May 19th, 2011, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 1pm with burial to follow in Greenlawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Brown, Jr. and Alma Dillard Wooten. She was an employee of Franklin Precision and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband – Danny King of Franklin; 1 daughter – Hollie Kilmon of Franklin; 2 sons – Cory Pitts and Daniel King both of Franklin; brother and sisters – Jerry Bilbrey of Horse Cave, KY, Terry Bilbrey of Franklin, Doris Payne of Adolphus, Mary Eben of Bryant, Texas, Jackie Wooten of Franklin, Robert Brown of Texas, Carol Brown of Colorado, Susan Brown of Texas; 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Visitation will begin at 11am Friday and after 6am Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Paul L. Morgan, age 91 of Franklin, died Sunday, May 15th, 2011, at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday at 11am with Bro. Denny Burchett and Bro. Butch Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard. A native of Robertson County Tennessee, he was the son of the late Henry Morgan and Rena Empson Morgan. He was retired from Potter & Brumfield and was a farmer. Mr. Morgan was a member of Middle Baptist Church and an Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife – Wilda Goostree Morgan. Survivors include 1 daughter – Linda Morgan Payne and husband Rondal; 1 son – Dr. Frank Morgan and wife Candace of Moultrie, Georgia; 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 4pm Tuesday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Dorman Jackson, age 90 of Franklin, died Thursday, May 12th, 2011, at Highland Manor Nursing Facility in Portland, TN. Crafton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Cremation was chosen. There will be no visitation or service. Burial will take place at a later time in Billings Union cemetery in Billings, Oklahoma. A native of Terlton, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Kenneth E. Jackson and Gertrude Norris Jackson. He was a heavy equipment salesman and a World War II Coast Guard Veteran. Survivors include 2 sons – Stan Jackson and wife Debra of Franklin and Brad Jackson of Colorado; 6 grandchildren.

A former Simpson County resident, Mrs. Betty Jane Graves Houk, age 84 of Bowling Green, died Sunday, May 15th, 2011 at the Colonial Manor Care & Rehabilitation Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 2pm with burial to follow Wednesday in Sand Knob cemetery in Breckenridge County Kentucky. A native of Leitchfield, KY, she was the daughter of the late Roy B. Graves and Ruth Clagett Graves. Mrs. Houk graduated from the Norton’s School of Nursing and was a registered nurse at the Grayson County War Memorial Hospital, Breckenridge Memorial Hospital and retired from Ireland Army Hospital in Ft. Knox. She was a member of the Franklin First United Methodist Church and was a past president and treasurer of the Simpson County AARP. She was preceded in death by her husband – Mora Clinton Houk and a son – John Allen Houk. Survivors include 1 daughter – Alison Houk of Bowling Green; 2 sons – David Houk and wife Carol of Franklin and Brian Houk and wife Beverly of Franklin; 1 sister – Mary Helen Bojanowski of Frankfort, KY and a grandson – Clinton Houk of Owensboro, KY. Visitation will begin at 10am Tuesday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rhoda Crafton Rowland, age 89 of Franklin, died Friday, May 13th, 2011, at the Skyline Hospital in Nashville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11am at Salmon’s General Baptist Church with burial to follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. A native of Sumner County Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Jeff Crafton and Mary Lindsey Crafton. She was retired from Potter & Brumfield in Franklin had worked at T.O. Trerice Gage Company. She was a member of Salmon’s General Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was a charter member and president of the W.M. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Rowland was preceded in death by her husband – Wyllys Rowland and a brother – Millard Crafton. Survivors include 2 sons – Mike Rowland an wife Carolyn and Ron Rowland all of Franklin; 2 sisters – Dorothy Gomer and Merle Lowe both of Franklin; 1 brother – J.L. Crafton of Franklin; 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Visitaition will begin at 12noon Sunday and after 6am Monday at Crafton Funeral Home. An Eastern Star Service will be held Sunday at 7pm at Crafton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 10am Monday.

Mrs. Evangeline Bryant Bishop, age 80 of Franklin, died Tuesday, May 10th, 2011, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held Friday at 11am in the Bethany Church of Christ cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Spencer Bryant and Sarah Thomas Bryant. She was a homemaker and a member of the Bethany Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband – William Franklin Bishop. Survivors include 2 son s- Billy G. Bishop and Ronald D. Bishop both of Franklin; 3 grandchildren, 1 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 11am Thursday and after 6am Friday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Getty Barnett, Jr., age 84 of Franklin, died Friday, May 6th, 2011, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Sunday at 2pm with Bro. Eddie Toney officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsdale cemetery. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Getty Barnett, Sr. and Ruth Ferrell Barnett. He was a retired truck driver and a member of Stevenson United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife – June Ellen Jenkins Barnett of Franklin; 1 sister – Madell Carroll of Louisville; a special family friend – Jay Douglas Harlan and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10am until 8pm Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Halton Sloan, age 87 of Franklin, died Tuesday, July 12th, 2011, at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Thursday at 2pm with burial to follow in Green Lawn cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Willie and Pearl Sloan. He was a retired employee of the Kendall Company and a World War II Army Veteran. Mr. Sloan was a member of the Stevenson Methodist Church, Simpson Benevolent Lodge #177 and Eastern Star Ruth Electa 17. Survivors include his wife - Mae Ellis Sloan of Franklin; cousins - Carl & Shirley Sloan and Larry Sloan all of Indiana; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 4pm Wednesday and after 6am Thursday at Crafton Funeral Home. A Masonic and Eastern Star Service will be held Wednesday 7pm at Crafton Funeral Home.

A former Simpson County resident, Mrs. Mary Evelyn Kirkland Pinson, age 88 of Portland, died Friday, July 8th, 2011, at the Sumner Regional Medical Center in Gallatin, TN. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Monday at 1pm with burial to follow in Green Lawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late James Arthur Kirkland and Jennie Thaxton Kirkland. She was a retired employee of the Kendall Company and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a sister - Eurie Cothern. Survivors include a daughter - Terry A. Webb and husband Jackie of Portland; 1 sister - Christine Berry of Franklin; 4 grandchildren - David Graves, Jennifer Graves and Jeffrey Graves all of Portland and Jaska Tornquist of Westmoreland; 6 great grandchildren - Autumn Graves, Alex Graves, Dakota Hinson and Trevor Graves all of Portland, Allie and Jack Tornquist of Westmoreland. Visitation will begin at 2pm Sunday and after 6am Monday at Crafton Funeral Home.
