Mr. James 'Waterdog' Johnson, age 71 of Franklin, died Sunday, July 24th, 2011, at the VA Hospital in Nashville, TN. Arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held at 4pm Thursday with Bro. Bobby Joe Forshee officiating. A native of Bristol, TN, he was the son of the late Andrew Franklin Johnson and Zula Hazel Shaffer Johnson. He was retired from the Dana Corp, a member of Living Hope Baptist, UAW Post 2370 and was a Kentucky Colonel since 1999. He was a Army Veteran and served in the Korean Conflict. He was preceded in death by a brother - William Fleenor and a sister - Pat Patrick. Survivors include his wife - Peggie Givens Johnson of Franklin; 2 sons- Dewayne and Barry Johnson both of Franklin; 1 daughter - Kristie West of Franklin; 1 brother - Charles Johnson of Bristol, TN; 1 sister - Louise Dingus of Bristol, TN; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 2pm Wednesday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. John Wesley Gregory, III, age 24 of Franklin, died Sunday, July 24th, 2011, at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Wednesday at 11am with burial to follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of John Wesley Gregory, II of Franklin and Nell Camille Cassetty Norwood of Franklin. He was a member of Round Pond Presbyterian Church. He was preceded in death by his grandfather - John Wesley Gregory, Sr. and a son - Hayden Braxton Gregory. In addition to his parents, he is survived by 1 sister - Lisa Michelle Beck of Alvaton; 1 brother - Steven Gossett Gregory of Franklin; step father - Alan Norwood of Franklin; step mother - Jennifer Gregory of Franklin; 1 step sister - Jessica Lynn Crafton of Lewisburg, KY and 2 step brothers - Jarred Daniel Rowland and Donald Bronson Norwood both of Franklin; paternal grandmother - RoseMary Gregory of Franklin and maternal grandparents - Sterling and Sue Cassetty of Franklin; loyal companion - Valerie Johnson; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 3pm to 9pm Tuesday and after 6am Wednesday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. John Cherry, Sr., age 55 of Woodburn, died Sunday, July 24th, 2011, at his residence. Cremation was chosen. There will be a memorial service held at the Woodburn Community Center from 2 to 4pm Sunday, July 31st. A native of Warren County, he was the son of the late Gilbert cherry and Anna Verna Green Cherry. He had worked at the Kendall Company in Franklin. Survivors include 3 sons - John Cherry, Jr. of Woodburn, Lucas Cherry of Bowling Green and Clinton Cherry of Woodburn; 1 brother - Timothy Cherry of Owensboro, KY; 4 sisters - Betty Deaton of Hazard, KY, Nancy Jo Cherry of Daysville, KY, Ellen Thompson of Rockfield, KY and Ann Garrity of Bowling Green; 4 grandchildren - Tyler Cherry, Caden Cherry, Jessica Phillips and Destiny Cherry.

Mr. Daniel Thomas Adams, age 76 of Bowling Green, died Friday, July 22nd, 2011, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:15am at the Woodburn Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Sulphur Spring cemetery. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Thomas H. Adams and Marie Cavett Adams. He was retired from A&P; Tea Company working in Cleveland, Ohio and in Bowling Green in the meat and produce departments. Mr. Adams was a member for 28 years of the Woodburn Baptist Church and most recently a member at Franklin First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife - Lilly G. Cropper Adams. Survivors include 4 children - Oma Jane Adams Flener and husband Steve of Hartford, KY, Brenda Adams Tucker and husband David of Bowling Green, Thomas Earl Adams and wife Irene of Woodburn, KY and Cindy Adams Boaz and husband Bryant of Floyd Knob, Ind; 1 brother - James Caroll Adams and wife Martha of Warren, PA; 7 grandchildren - Tabitha Boaz Winstead, Christian Skylar Boaz, Abigail Adams, Geneieve Adams, Christopher Adams, Charity Flener Lovitt, Loletuth Flener Calz and Erin Flener Boone; 3 great grandchildren; 2 nieces - Shari Adams and Karen Adams. Visitation will begin at 5pm Monday and after 6am Tuesday at Crafton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church beginning at 10am Tuesday.

Ms. Nancy Haney Johnson, age 70 of Franklin, died Sunday, July 17th, 2011, at the Rosewood Health Care Facility in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11am at Crafton Funeral Home with burial to follow in Green Lawn cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Benton Haney and Mildred Pedigo Haney. She was a retired employee of the Kendall Company. Survivors include 1 daughter - Janet Brewer of Franklin; 1 brother - Wayne Haney of Franklin; 3 sisters- Virginia Bowles and Hazel Stamps both of Franklin and Barbara Jones of Bowling Green; 2 grandchildren - Lacy Engels of Villa Hills, Kentucky and Payton Brewer of Franklin; 1 great grandchild - Hannah Engels; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be from 4 to 8pm Tuesday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Thomas Edward Betts, age 80 of Franklin, died Friday, April 13th, 2012 at the Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, TN. Crafton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11am at the Franklin First United Methodist Church. A native of Amory, MS, he was the son of the late Edward C. Betts and Edna Turner Betts. He was retired business owner of Betts Foods. Mr. Betts was an Army Veteran and a graduate of Becker High School. Survivors include his wife - Betty Everette Betts of Franklin; 2 daughters - Patricia D. Stevens and husband Sam of Amory, MS and Debe B. Newton and husband John of Franklin; 1 brother - Bob Betts of Tupelo, MS; 2 sisters - Dorothy Stivale of Amory, MS and Mary Fields of Starksville, MS; 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

Mr. Jan Erik Svensson, age 64 of Franklin, died Saturday, April 14th, 2012 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 3pm at Crafton Funeral Home. A native of Sweden, he was the son of the late Sven Svensson and Karin Svensson who survives in Sweden. He was a professional motorcycle racer and instructor and an automotive engineer. He was an AMA and AHRMA member.Survivors include 1 son- Richard Svensson of Sweden; 1 brother - Bengt'goran Svensson of Sweden; long time companion - Angel Carmichael of Franklin; 5 step children - Lisa Reeves and husband Jeff of West Virginia, JoAnn Meeks of Florida, Alan Meeks of Texas, James Carmichael of Franklin, Joshua Carmichael of Germany; 13 grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to BRASS PO Box 1941 Bowling Green KY 42101 or to AHRMA Benevolent Fund 2375 Midway Road SE Bolivia, N.C. 38492.

Jane Elizabeth Buck Ike, age 86 of Franklin, formerly of Lodi, New York, died Saturday, April 14th, 2012 in Franklin. She is survived by 2 sons Jim and John Ike of New York and a daughter, Nancy Matthews of Franklin, KY. Cremation was chosen. Visitation will be at Crafton Funeral Home Tuesday, April 17th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Simpson County Animal Shelter, 2194 Ditmore Ford Road, Franklin, KY 42134 or the charity of ones choice.

Mrs. Virginia L. Haney Bowles, age 78 of Franklin, died Wednesday, April 11th, 2012, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 11am with burial to follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Benton Haney and Mildred Pedigo Haney. She was retired from Potter & Brumfield. She was a member and past president of the Simpson County Homemakers and American Legion Women's Auxiliary and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son - Rex Randall Bowles and a sister - Nancy Johnson. Survivors include her husband - Rex Bowles of Franklin; 1 son - Phil Bowles and wife Lisa Caudill Bowles of Franklin; 1 brother - Wayne Haney of Franklin; 2 sisters - Hazel Stamps of Franklin and Barbara Jones of Bowling Green; 5 grandchildren - Deanna Bowles Hall of White House, TN, Scott Bowles of Lexington, Rachel Bowles, Carson Bowles, Hunter Bowles all of Franklin; 1 step grandson - Josh Eden of Franklin; 9 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 12 noon Friday and after 6am Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Donald M. Kirby, age 86 of Woodburn, died Sunday, April 8th, 2012, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1pm at the Woodburn Baptist Church in Woodburn. Burial will follow in Green Lawn cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Harry Kirby and Isabel Byrum Kirby. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Woodburn Baptist Church. Mr. Kirby was a World War II Navy Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife - Louisa Stanley Kirby, a brother - Ollie 'Spudie' Kirby, a sister - Annie Reid 'Susie' Rhea. Survivors include 3 sons - Joseph Kirby and wife Jane of Aiken, South Carolina, Wayne Kirby and wife Jane of Alvaton and David Kirby and wife Carla of Louisville; 1 daughter - Joyce Kirby Eichelberger and husband Dale of Bowling Green; 4 brothers - Bruce Kirby of Savannah, Georgia, Lindsey Kirby of New Richmond, Ohio, Brent and Lewis Kirby of Franklin; 6 grandchidren - Jeffrey Kirby, Jason Kirby, Kate Killian, Daniel Kirby, Lou Ann Karavayev and Cora Kirby; 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Friday and after 6am Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church on Saturday beginning at 11am. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodburn Baptist Church.

Mr. Ricky Daryle Carter, age 57 of Franklin, died Saturday, April 7th, 2012 in Franklin. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 7pm at Crafton Funeral Home. A native of Whiteland, Indiana, he was the son of the late Eugene Carter and Betty Jo Walker. He is preceded in death by a daughter - Katie Jo Carter. He is survived by 3 daughters - Jacinda Carter of Indianapolis, Indiana, Casey Fowler of Alvaton and Ashley Carter of Franklin; step son - Ricky Wise of Fortville, Indiana; 2 sisters - Terry Dirk and Cathy Bolton Walker; 1 brother - Wayne Walker; grandchildren - Taylor Hernly, Tyler Johnson, Kaya Carter, Jada Johnson, Seth Gregory, Ryan Gregory, Hunter Mitchell, Gavin and Jacob Adams, Chyna, Shawn and Lily Wise. Visitation will begin at 5pm Wednesday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Delores Ann Anderson Sadler, age 59 of Franklin, died Sunday evening, April 1st, 2012 at her residence. A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 2pm at Crafton Funeral Home. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Walter F. Anderson and Diane Anderson. Survivors include 1 daughter - Tammy Lowhorn of Franklin; 1 son - William Sadler of Franklin; brothers and sisters - Lillian Bailey of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Alvin Anderson of Cadiz, KY, Bruce Anderson of Franklin, Becky Jenkins of Franklin, Joyce Bewley of Franklin, Tina Burchett of Franklin and Gloria Johnson of Franklin; 2 granddaughters - Heather and Destiny Lowhorn of Franklin. Visitation will begin at 12 noon Tuesday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Ronnie Gentry, age 56 of White House, TN died Wednesday, March 21st, 2012, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 10am with burial to follow in Shady Grove cemetery. A native of Jackson County Tennessee, he was the son of the late Daniel Gentry and Ruby Guy Gentry. He was a realtor. Survivors include his wife - Patsy Allen Gentry of White House; 2 daughters - Angela Billings of White House and Amy Wetzel of LaVergne, TN; 3 brothers - Terry Gentry of Springfield, TN, Larry Gentry of Portland and DeWayne Gentry of White House; 1 sister - Patsy Covington of Arizona; 5 grandchildren and a nephew - David Ward Gentry. Visitation will begin Friday at 5pm and after 6am Saturday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. Ewell Payne, age 95 of Franklin, died Sunday, March 18th, 2012, at the Commonwealth Regional Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1pm at the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church (8229 Friendship Road, Crossplains, TN) with burial to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Orlinda. A native of Robertson County Tennessee, he was the son of the late Robert and Mildred Payne. He was preceded in death by a loving wife - Anna Bell Gatewood Payne and a loyal son - Clifton Malcolm Payne. He leaves to mourn with memories two dedicated sons, Leonard Ewell Payne (Shirley) of Rochester, NY and Johnny Raymond Payne (Paulette) of Easley SC; a caring and devoted daughter, Sylvia Payne Goodner (Wayne) of Franklin who served as his caregiver for many years. The wake will be from 6pm to 8pm Thursday at Crafton Funeral Home.

Mr. James E. Groves, age 81 of Franklin, died Thursday, March 15th, 2012, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Sunday at 2pm with burial to follow in the Restlawn Memorial Gardens. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Jewell Groves and Laura Bell Groves. He was a member of Mitchellville First Baptist Church where he served as deacon and was a retired school bus driver with the Simpson County Board of Education. He was preceded in death by a son - David Groves and a sister - Helen Groves. Survivors include his wife - Betty Groves of Franklin; 2 daughters - Kim Ladd and husband Danny of Franklin and Marsha Pardue and husband Sterling of Portland; 1 brother - Gene Groves and wife Mary of Franklin; 1 step son - Ricky Biggers and wife Debbie of Westmoreland, TN; 1 niece, 3 nephews, 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2pm to 9pm Saturday and after 6am Sunday at Crafton Funeral Home.
