Sylvia Lou Boyette, age 45 of Caneyville, Ky. passed away Friday October 28, 2011 at her residence.

She was born on July 17, 1966 in Leitchfield, Kentucky, the daughter of Wilson L & Laura Dockery Lindsey. She was a Coordinator for Caneyville School FRC and a member of the New Harvest Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Boyette of Caneyville, 2 sons, Andrew & Christian Boyette both of Lexington, her mother Laura Lindsey, of Caneyville, 5 sisters, Pat Mudd, Sheila Mashburn & Charlotte Crume all of Caneyville, Cheri Lindsey of Leitchfield & Kathy Lindsey of Welchs Creek, 3 brothers, George Lindsey of Louisville, Brad Lindsey of Leitchfield, & Jordon Lindsey of Houston, Texas.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 31, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville with Rev. Roger Taylor officiating with interment in the Smith cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville 4-9 Sunday and after 9:00 A.M. Monday. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Caneyville School FRC.

Glenn L. Tilford
(October 15, 1937 - October 29, 2011)

U.S. Veteran
Glenn L. Tilford, age 74, of Falls of Rough KY, passed away Saturday, (October 29, 2011) at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.

He was born on October 15, 1937, in Short Creek, KY, the son of Ormond Robert and Catherine Carter Tilford. He was a retired Kentucky State Trooper and detective, a former Grayson County Judge Executive for two terms, a Veteran of the US Navy and was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Smith Tilford, one son, Todd Tilford (Lidija) of Minot, North Dakota, one daughter, Deborah Tilford of Gallatin, TN, one granddaughter, Chelsea Hurley, and two brothers Dan and Jerry Tilford of Falls of Rough. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Tilford.

Cremation was chosen and there will be a memorial service at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday (November 2, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.

Harry Carl Buddy Ward III
(November 16, 1965 - October 24, 2011)

Harry Carl Buddy Ward III, age 45, of Jasper, IN, formerly of Leitchfield, passed away Monday, (October 24, 2011) at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN.

He was born on November 16, 1965, in Louisville, KY, the son of Harry Carl Buddy Ward II and Katie Smothers. He was a music store owner and was a member of the Abundant Life Family Worship Center in Washington, IN.

He is survived by his wife, Tammi Ward of IN, two sons, Seth Ward and John Carroll both of IN, three nieces, Melissa Horsley, Pam Logsdon and Devonna Miller.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday (October 27, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro Roger Allen, David Wayne Mathias and Tom Spencer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday (October 26, 2011) There will be a Going Home Celebration at the Victory Temple Church/4245 Baden Strasse/Jasper, IN 47546 Friday 6:00 p.m. (October 28, 2011)

David Clifton Craine
(January 29, 1963 - October 23, 2011)

David Clifton Craine, age 48 of Caneyville, Ky. passed away Sunday October 23, 2011 at his residence.

He was born on January 29, 1963 in Hopedale, Illinois, the son of Frank Clifton Crain & Kaye Mowery Comerford. He was raised in Caneyville by Frank & Bertha Crain. He worked as a sawmill operator with Dunaway Timber.

He is survived by his wife Pamela Craine of Caneyville, 1 son Daniel Craine of Caneyville, his mother Kaye Mowery Comerford of Illinois, 1 half sister Kathy Overfelt & 1 half brother Chris Hollonbeck, his grandmother Bertha Crain, several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father F. C. & grandfather Frank, and uncle Randall Craine.

A Memorial will be Saturday October 29, 2011 at 12:00 noon. Family will receive friends from 9:00-1:00 at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville. There will be no service, cremation was chosen.

Shirley Philpott
(May 27, 1937 - October 26, 2011)

Shirley Philpott, age 74, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (October 26, 2011) at the Audubon Hospital in Louisville, KY.

She was born on May 27, 1937, in Caneyville, KY, the daughter of Willie and Nola Fraim Wilkins. She worked as a lab technician for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company, and retired in 1989 after thirty years of service. She loved to fish, loved her dogs, and especially loved her grandchildren. She was a member of the Rockford View United Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of nearly thirty-nine years, Hewett Philpott of Leitchfield; two sons, Chuck Spalding of Leitchfield, and Louis Spalding of Louisville; one daughter, Pam Kamer (Mark) of Louisville; two brothers, Nachel Wilkins of Louisville, and Thirstle Wilkins of IL; one sister, Aline Swift of Leitchfield; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday (October 30, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Joe Watson will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday, and from 9:00 a.m. Sunday until time of service.

Bonnie Frances Escue
(February 23, 1945 - November 2, 2011)

Bonnie Frances Moore Escue, age 66 of Falls of Rough, KY passed away Wednesday (November 2, 2011) at the Twin Lakes Regional Medical Center in Leitchfield.

She was born February 23, 1945 in Louisville, KY the daughter of the late Audie and Willie Snyder Moore. She and her husband Clifton attended the Macedonia Baptist Church in Breckinridge County, KY. Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.

Bonnie is survived by her husband Clifton Escue of Falls of Rough, KY her children, Robert Pettrey and his wife Tracy of Owensboro, KY, Mitzi Kiper of Falls of Rough, Jeffrey Lee Pettrey of Louisville, KY and Leslie South and her husband Charlie of Caneyville, one brother, Leonard Moore of Leitchfield and one sister Ellen Hayes of Leitchfield.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (November 5, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield with Bro. Wendell Sandefur officiating and burial in the Duff cemetery.

Floyd Hayes
(July 25, 1926 - November 2, 2011)

Floyd Hayes, age 85, of Leitchfield KY, passed away Wednesday, (November 2, 2011) at the Owensboro Medical System in Owensboro, KY.

He was born on July 25, 1926, in Anneta, KY, the son of Elza and Alma McGrew Hayes. He was a retired auto body repairman, a veteran of World War II, a member of the Big Clifty Masonic Lodge # 599 and the Leitchfield American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Dolus Meredith Hayes, two daughters, Judy Jones of Gallatin, TN and Flo Navarro of Millwood, KY, a son, Jason Hayes of Millwood, two grandchildren, Patrick Langston of Millwood and Robert Langston (Sandy) of Leitchfield, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bill Hayes and two sisters, Della Mae Lile and Florene Robertson.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday (November 5, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro Buddy Brooks will be officiating. Burial will be in the Layman Memorial cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Hayes, Robert and Patrick Langston, James Wilaby and Anthony and Steve Meredith.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service.

There will be a Masonic service on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral Home.

Barbara Magolis Burgin
(June 3, 1943 - November 2, 2011)

Barbara Jean Magolis Burgin, age 68 of Caneyville, Ky. passed away Wednesday November 02, 2011 at Bowling Green Medical Center.

She was born on June 3, 1943 in Charlestown, West Virginia, the daughter of Carlos & Ruby Igo Elkins. She was a Caregiver for several years.

She is survived by her husband Doran Burgin of Caneyville, 2 sons Frank Magolis & Adrin Doran Burgin, 3 daughters Mary Jeffers, Patty Duford & Edith Coleman, her mother Ruby Elkins, 3 brothers Danny, Ernie & Bobby, 2 sisters Eva Driggers & Becky Elkins. Also surviving are several grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 brother & 2 sisters and 1 child.

Visitation will begin at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyvlle from 10:00 a.m Monday until funeral time at 1:00 P.M. Bro. Gabe Layman will be officiating. The visitation will resume on Monday after the funeral until 8:00 p.m.

Cremation was chosen.

In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Dermitt Funeral Home.

Leroy Staples
(January 26, 1922 - November 5, 2011)

Leroy Staples, age 89, of Leitchfield KY, passed away Saturday, (November 5, 2011) at the Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown, KY.

He was born on January 26, 1922, in Barren County, KY, the son of the late Henry and Minnie Huff Staples. He was a retired lineman for Warren Rural Electric, a World War II Army veteran who was a Bronze Star recipient, an elder of the former Eveleigh Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was presently attending the Clearview Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mayme Dyer Staples, two daughters, Sue Anne Brooks (Thomas) of Rineyville, KY and Marla Storm (Russell) of Huntingburg, IN, three grandchildren, April More (Mark) and Taylor and Hayley Storm, four great grandchildren, Carissa, Kaite, Amber and Ashlee More, three brothers, Ellison, Milburn and Follis Staples all of Glasgow, KY, three sisters, Bess Riddle and Madell Bagby both of Glasgow and Peggy Polson of Scottsville, KY.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Staples and one sister, Mary Lois Perkins.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday (November 9, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey cemetery in Hestand, KY.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday until time of service.

Charles William "Jiggs" Nash
(September 6, 1936 - December 28, 2011)

Charles William “Jiggs” Nash, age 75, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Wednesday, (December 28, 2011) at Norton’s Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

He was born on September 6, 1936, in Grayson Co., Kentucky, the son of Albert and Stella Farris Nash. He was a retired painter at Fort Knox, and helped his son and grandson run the family business, Nashcar.

He is survived by his wife, Ruie E. Nash of Leitchfield; two daughters, Debbie Sims of Tennessee, and Nancy Allen of Leitchfield; one son, Charlie Nash of Leitchfield; two sisters, Velma Blair of Indiana, and Nellie Woodcock of Bowling Green; one brother, Junior Nash of Leitchfield; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Natoma, a son, William, his parents, three brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (December 31, 2011) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Chester Shartzer will be officiating. Burial will be in the South Union cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service.

Albert Lee Roof
(April 22, 1939 - January 5, 2012)

Albert Lee Roof, age 72, of Millwood, KY, passed away Thursday, (January 5, 2012) at his residence.

He was born on April 22, 1939, in Millwood, Kentucky, the son of Alva and Nora Willis Roof. He was a retired mechanic.

He is survived by a daughter, Wilma Duncan of Louisville; three sons, Alvin and Stoney (Debbie) of Millwood and Gary of Clarkson; four sisters, Norma Jean Winchell, Emmy Hardin and Jerline Newton all of Millwood and Connie Frames of Horse Branch; one brother, Lester Roof of Leitchfield; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Louise, his parents, and two brothers, Dale Roof and Bobby Roof.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon Saturday (January 7, 2012) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Wayne Clemons will be officiating. Burial will be in the Kefauver cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Friday and from 9:00 a.m. Saturday until time of service.
