Elizabeth Virginia Calvert

March 17, 1921 - March 20, 2001

Elizabeth Virginia Calvert, 80, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Edgar Eaton and Mollie Taylor Eaton Shoemake, and the wife of the late George Calvert. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and a retired Sales Representative for Sears in Glasgow for many years.

She is survived by her brother J. C. Eaton and his wife Nevada of Noblesville, IN; 2 brothers-in-law: Charles Jeffries of Glasgow and Jack Parker of Florida; Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Ruby Lee Jeffries and Mary Lewis Parker.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Friday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 A. M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lottie F. Calvert

September 18, 1937 - March 12, 2005

Lottie F. Calvert, 67, Glasgow, died Saturday, March 12, 2005, at the Glasgow Health & Rehabilitation Center. A native of Adair County, she was the daughter of Paudine Reece Fletcher of Glasgow and the late Walter M. Fletcher.

After graduating Glasgow High School, Lottie entered the business community. She has been an insurance agent for 45 years, having been former co-owner of Martin and Calvert Insurance Agency which later became Calvert & Nunn Insurance Agency. During her career she received numerous sales awards. She was a member of the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Board of Directors of the Museum of the Barrens. She was an avid antique and jewelry collector, an avid University of Kentucky fan and a member of the First Christian Church of Glasgow.

Along with her mother, she is survived by one son, Brad Calvert of Glasgow; one granddaughter, Rachel Calvert of Glasgow; one sister, Jean F. Aspley and her husband, Joe Billy, of Lexington; two nephews, Darrell Fletcher and wife, Joetta, and Lynn Fletcher and wife, Judy, all of Columbia; one niece, Paula J. Aspley of Lexington.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Townsend Calvert and one brother, J. W. Fletcher.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday and after 12 noon Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center, 200 W. Water Street, Glasgow, KY 42141.

Mattie Eaton Calvert

June 3, 1915 - March 21, 2003

Mattie Eaton Calvert, 87, Tracy, died Friday at the NHC Health Care Center. A daughter of the late Carroll and Mary “Dolly” Bryant Eaton, she was a homemaker and a member of the Tracy United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Billy Ervin Calvert and his wife, Linda, of Tracy; one sister, Sally Brownfield and her husband, Dee, of Glasgow; a sister-in-law, Mrs. J.C. “Nell” Eaton, Jr. of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Calvert; a daughter, Lana Calvert; three sisters, Zula Eaton Russell, Lennie Eaton and Janell Eaton Albany; four brothers, Willie Eaton, Floyd Eaton, Garnett Eaton and J.C. Eaton, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Fountain Run cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Sunday at the funeral home.

Annie Lou Carter

September 6, 1914 - September 23, 2001

Annie Lou Carter, 87, Gary, Indiana, died Sunday, September 23, 2001 in Gary. Born September 6, 1914 in Hiseville, she was a daughter of the late Bryan and Annie Steen Strader. In 1933, she married William A. Carter and moved to Gary. She was a member of the Marquette Park United Methodist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution and a Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League.

Survivors include two sons, William Carter, Jr. and his wife, Ann, of Munster, IN., and Bryan Carter and his wife, Carolyn, of Memphis; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1971; five brothers, Ulysses J. Strader, Charles Strader, Bryan Woods Strader, Bruce Strader and Sam Strader; one sister, Frances Ward; and a special friend, Ben McReynolds.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Marquette Park United Methodist Church, (215 N. Grand Boulevard, Gary, IN 46403) would be appreciated.

Carolyn "Carrie" Lessenberry Carter

1908 - 2001

Carolyn “Carrie” Lessenberry Carter, 92, of Hiseville died Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at the Barren County Health Care Facility in Glasgow. She was the daughter of the late Bob and Kate Parrish Owen and late husbands Bob Lessenberry and Gilbert Carter. A lifetime resident of Hiseville and the Coral Hill community, a retired schoolteacher with the Barren County School System. She was a member of the Coral Hill Church of Christ and a Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer.

Survivors include several cousins, including Norma Lyons of Glasgow, and special friends Carl & Viola Whitaker.

Funeral will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 P. M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Jimmie Marie D. Carter

January 10, 1927 - September 30, 2006

Jimmie Marie Carter, 79, Glasgow, died Saturday, September 30, 2006, at her residence. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Huston and Myrtle Brooks Dismon. She was a retired beauty operator and a member of the Peter’s Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Essie Edward Carter; one son, Wendell Elmore of Floyd Knobs, IN; three grandsons, Bryan Elmore of Georgetown, IN, Kevin Elmore and Benjamin Elmore, both of Indianapolis; 5 great-grandchildren; 5 step-children, Bruce Carter of Dayton, OH, Denise Blythe and Michael Edward Carter of Louisville, Roger Carter of Denver and Mary Ferrell of Vine Grove; one sister, Doris Bow Hiatt of Glasgow; 12 step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including Patty Wilson of Glasgow.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Shelton and Kathy Apple; one brother, Ralph Dismon.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 2, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

William Glenroy Carter

03/08/1920 - 02/10/2001

William Glenroy Carter, 80, Glasgow, died Saturday at the Glenview Health Care Center. A native of Hart County, he was a son of the late Elmer and Emma O’Banion Carter and a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Dee Carter; five children, Tony Carter and his wife, Darlene of Indianapolis, Anna Mary Carter of Tempe, Arizona, Glenda Carol Brown and her husband, Rodney of Alexandria, Virginia, William Edwin Carter and his wife, Debbie of Fort Mills, South Carolina and Paulette Wasylycia and her husband, Tony of Glasgow; nine grandchildren, Michael Carter, Michelle Coffman, Christopher Carter, Jason Carter, Carter Brown, David Woodcock, Scott Woodcock, Josh Fisher and Louann McCain; one sister, Cleota Gentry of Hardyville; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Joe Thomas Carter, who died at birth, a brother, R. T. Carter and a sister, Alyne Carter Thompson.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Horse Cave cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Arkley Cary

May 26, 1931 - January 5, 2007

Arkley Estes Cary, 75, Glasgow, died Friday, January 05, 2007, at the Rosewood Health Care Center in Bowling Green. A native of Cumberland County, he was the son of the late Vernie and Mary Jane Compton Cary. He was a retired farmer, a veteran, having served with the Unites States Marines and had been attending the Living Faith Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Cary and Marsha Cary and her husband, James Mercer, all of Bowling Green; one grandson, Shane Mercer; one sister, Nell Morgan and her husband, Ralph, of Glasgow; one nephew, Chip Morgan of Glasgow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Greta Mansfield Cary.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2007, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Jimmy Earl Catron

March 29, 1947 - September 9, 2002

Jimmy Earl Catron, 55, of Glasgow, died Monday, September 09, 2002 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Tennessee, he was the son of the late Otto and Dorothy Wright Catron. He was a disabled miner and an artist and had been a resident of NHC Health Care in Glasgow for the past 30 years.

Survivors include three sisters, Audrey Reliford of Columbia, Lucille Hardin and her husband, Don, of Breeding, and Frances Johnson of Poland, Indiana; two nephews, Jack Catron and Shawn Reliford; six nieces, Paula Gregory, Tina Hunter, Janice Bowlin, Connie Everett, Pamela Hicks and Penny Poe.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the NHC Health Care Center Chapel with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 11:00 a.m. Thursday at NHC Chapel.

Andrew R. Caylor

August 18, 1917 - February 2, 2003

Andrew R. Caylor age 85 of the B. C. Proffitt Rd. Glasgow died Sunday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Calvin and Chlorice Geist Caylor. He was a clock and watch repairman.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth LaBianco Caylor. One Son: Andrew J. Caylor. Two Daughters: Kathy and Norma Caylor all of Glasgow. Five Grandchildren: Menno Miller Jr. of Alabama, Lydia Ann Duane of Pa., Simon Miller and Joshua Miller both of Mo. And Caleb Miller of Ok., Four Great Grandchildren also survive.

He was preceded in death by a daughter Elizabeth Ann Miller.

Funeral will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2:00 PM Monday

Flora Mae Chambers

February 27, 1907 - June 24, 2003

Flora Mae Chambers age 96 of Glasgow died Tuesday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Hayward and Goldie Johnson Spillman, a homemaker and a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

She is survived by 3 Sons: Jessie Frank chambers and his wife Opal. Richard Lee Chambers and his wife Carolyn, Earnest Chambers and his wife Marilyn and all of Glasgow. Three Brothers: Drewey Spillman, Harry Spillman and Jr. Spillman all of Glasgow. One Sister: Violet Stephens of Calif. Seven Grandchildren and Four Great Grand children also survive.

She was preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Bell, Isabel, Pauline and Anna. Three Brothers: Elsworth, Robert and Willard Spillman.

Funeral will be 3:00 PM Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Pleasant Church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 P.M. Thursday.

John Thomas Chaney

October 8, 1949 - September 28, 2002

John Thomas Chaney, 52, Glasgow, died Saturday at his residence. He was a pharmacist, an entrepreneur and an avid golfer. He was owner of Edmonton Drugs, Inc.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie; two sons, Luke Chaney of Lexington and Matthew Chaney of Knoxville; three step-children, Stacy Mills of Glasgow, Kathy Mills of Nashville and Andy Mills of Bowling Green; his parents, T.F. and Emily Chaney of Three Springs; one brother, Robert Chaney of Glasgow; one sister, Emilea Sasser of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews, including Stuart Chaney and Chad and Jason Sasser.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Beatrice Chapman

June 10, 1938 - February 10, 2006

Beatrice Chapman, 67, of Glasgow died Friday, February 10, 2006 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. She was the daughter of the late Virgil Miller Tarry and Aline Morgan Tarry and the wife of the late Cecil Wayne Chapman. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church.

She is survived by six children: Danny Chapman of Glasgow, Kathy Crain of Smiths Grove, Debbie Stinson of Glasgow, Martha Smith and her husband Darrell of Smiths Grove, Emma Poe and her husband David of Smiths Grove and Timmy Chapman and his wife Christine of Brownsville; fourteen grandchildren: Tony Wayne Chapman, Steve Daniel Chapman, Beverley Star Anderson, Melissa Wood, John Gentry Chapman, James Robert Chapman, Rachel Michelle Smith, Joshua Lee Smith, Crystal Chapman, Brittany Poe, Jeremiah Chapman, Jessica Chapman and Brian Chapman; fifteen great-grandchildren; four brothers: Robert Tarry, Joe Tarry, Ray Tarry and William Tarry; four sisters: Emma Pedigo, Francis Carnahan, Carolyn Lundie and Martha Tarry.

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by on brother: Hadie Tarry and on granddaughter: James Ann Chapman.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 15, 2006 with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
