David A. Cross

March 6, 1961 - November 14, 2004

David A. Cross, age 43, died at his residence Sunday, November 14, 2004 . He is a son of Gladys M. Stephens Lytle and the late Lee Roy Cross. He is also survived by his wife, Cindy C. Cross; two daughters, Amber Nicole Cross and Chasity Lee Ann Cross; one son, William Kyle Cross and one grandson, Matthew Dylan Cross-Stotts; his mother, Gladys Lytle and stepfather, Ron Lytle.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 17, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call after 12:00 Noon Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lorene Cross

May 20, 1932 - March 11, 2005

Lorene Cross, 72, Glasgow, died Friday, March 11, 2005, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Annie Wyatt. She was a homemaker and a member of the Westwood Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, E. O. Cross; four sisters, Brenda Waller and husband, Cliff, of Louisville, Archie Dee Hofer, Ersie Lykins and Willa Dean Jones all of Glasgow; two brothers, Jim Bob Wyatt and wife, Juanita, of Louisville, and Depp Wyatt and wife, Ruth Ann, of Temple Hill.

Services will be held 12 noon, Saturday, March 12, 2005, in the Chapel of Evergreen cemetery, 4623 Preston Highway, Louisville, with entombment to follow. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Dr. J. J. Crouch

March 31, 1921 - September 1, 2004

Dr. James Jesup Crouch, Jr. was born March 31, 1921 in Elkton, Todd County, Kentucky, the son of James Jesup and Margaret (Hollins) Crouch. In 1938 he entered Western Kentucky State College (now Western Kentucky University ) in Bowling Green, Kentucky for pre-veterinary studies. In 1941 he enrolled at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. He served in the Army Specialized Training Program of the Veterinary Corps. Elsie Schneiter and James Crouch were married in 1944. After graduation from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, he interned at LaCenter, Kentucky under Dr. W. M. Coffee. In 1945 Elsie and Jim moved to Glasgow, Kentucky where he founded the Animal Clinic on West Main Street . He helped organize the South Central Rural Telephone Cooperative and served a four year term as its first president. He served as president of the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association in 1966 and was named Kentucky Veterinarian of the Year in 1974. Jim Crouch served as an elder and trustee of the Glasgow First Christian Church. While at the Animal Clinic of Glasgow his partners included Doctors Nelson A. Pott, Edwin A. Page, Bobby A. Guilfoil and Steve Webb. In 1995 he retired from veterinary practice. In 1998 he founded By-products for Cattle and traveled across Kentucky and Tennessee helping cattle farmers increase productivity with a cost-effective nutritional supplement for beef and dairy cows. On the afternoon of September 1, 2004, while on one of these trips, he fell asleep while driving on Interstate-65 south of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and died a few hours later from chest injuries sustained in the single vehicle accident. He lived 83 good years. He will be missed by family and friends.

He leaves behind his wife of 60 years Elsie Crouch, a daughter Mary Louise Sawyer and her husband James Sawyer of Albemarle, North Carolina; four sons: John Crouch and his wife Kay of Louisville, Kentucky; Dr. Richard Crouch and his wife Cheryl of Murray, Kentucky; Tom Crouch and his wife Dianne of Lexington, Kentucky; Joe Crouch and his wife Kathy of Lexington, Kentucky; nine grand-children: Ginger Spickler and her husband Joshua of Memphis, Tennessee, Stephen Crouch and his wife Kim, James C. Crouch and Elizabeth Crouch, all of Louisville, Martha Crouch and Susannah Crouch of Lexington, John Sawyer of Charlotte, North Carolina, Christopher Sawyer of Albemarle, North Carolina, David Crouch of Murray, Kentucky; two brothers: Billie T. Crouch and his wife Nancy of Elkton, Kentucky and David Crouch and his wife Georgia of Elkton, Kentucky and one sister Virginia McKee of Franklin, Tennessee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4PM to 8PM on Saturday, September 11 at Hatcher & Sadler Funeral Home, Glasgow, and from 1PM to 2PM, Sunday, September 12 at the First Christian Church, Glasgow, followed by a memorial service at 2PM at the church. Burial will be at Glenwood cemetery in Elkton, Kentucky . In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Building Fund of the First Christian Church, Glasgow, Kentucky or to the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library, Glasgow.

Claudean Crowe

February 14, 1926 - August 27, 2002

Claudean Crowe, 76, Cranbrook Drive, Glasgow, died Tuesday, August 27, 2002, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Monroe County, she was a daughter of the late Huey and Bessie Turner Jones, a retired employee of Mallory Capacitor in Glasgow and a member of the Faith United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Lyons and her husband, Phil, of Cave City, and Kaye Shipley and her husband, Harold David, of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Randy Matthews and his wife, Brandi, Rene’ Matthews, Ryan Matthews, Brad Shipley and Brandon Shipley; one great-grandson, Tres Matthews; two sisters, Lucy Clarkson and Ruby Ford, both of Tompkinsville; a brother-in-law, Carlos Crowe and his wife, Ruth, of Tompkinsville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlos Crowe and five sisters, Dorothy Harlan, Louree Turner, Mildred Deweese, Ruth McPherson and Nell Turner.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2002, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with entombment in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.

Jeanette London Crume

January 29, 1946 - March 8, 2008

Jeanette London Crume, 62 formerly of Hiseville died at her home in Beaver Dam. A daughter of the late Willis and Ruby London. She was a loving nurse for 35 years.

Survivors include her husband Kurt Crume of Beaver Dam, two daughters Sherri Strader Harlow of Beaver Dam and Karen Strader Dilley and husband Kerry of Hiseville. Three grandchildren Hunter Harlow, Jackson Harlow, and Maycie Dilley. Three step children and four step grand children. Four brothers Ralph London of Hiseville, Donald Ray and Wayne London of Illinois, Charles Emery of Florida. Two sisters Helen Binion of Illinois and Judy Coomer of Hiseville; several nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by two brothers Sammy and Wendell London; 4 sisters Virginia Emery, Kathleen Meredith, Frances Morrison, and Joyce Abston.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Wendell Morgan officiating. Burial will be in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bonnie Frances Curd

April 30, 1919 - February 15, 2005

Bonnie Frances Curd, 85, Glasgow, died Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at Rosewood Health Care Center in Bowling Green. She was a daughter of the late Garner and Pernie Whitney Barlow and the widow of the late Lawrence A. Curd.

Mrs. Curd was the last surviving graduate of the Class of 1937, the last graduating class of the Glasgow Training School, the forerunner of Ralph Bunche School. She was a graduate of Western Kentucky State College and an employee of the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library where she served as librarian with the Glasgow Bookmobile. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was also a member of Senior Missionaries, Gleaners Club, Magic Circle and Senior Choir.

Survivors include two sons, John Curd and wife, Pam, of Louisville, and Robert Curd and wife, Julia, of Glasgow; four sisters-in-law, Louise Duncan of Detroit, Wanda Duncan and Sarah Duvall both of Louisville, and Beatrice Curd of Glasgow; eight grandsons; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence A. “Larry” Curd, II, one daughter, Jeanette Massey, and one brother, Garner Barlow.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 19, 2005, at First Baptist Church with burial in the Oddfellow cemetery. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library or the First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Laura F. Curd

August 26, 1917 - January 1, 2002

Laura F. Curd, 84, Glasgow, died Tuesday at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late James A. and Laura Everett Curd. She was a retired employee of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration in Washington, DC and prior to that, she was employed by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics with 32 years service.

Survivors include her sister, Ann Curd of Glasgow; her nephew, Bill E. Curd and his wife, Karon of Cave City; her niece, Kathy Earls and her husband, Wayne of Glasgow; two sisters-in-law, Virginia “Shine” Curd of Cave City and Grace Curd of Glasgow; three great-nephews, Will Curd of Cave City and Brent and Chris Earls of Glasgow. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William Curd and Frank Curd, and by a sister, Margaret Curd.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lawrence A. Curd II

August 26, 1947 - August 18, 2001

Lawrence A. Curd II, 53, of Glasgow died Saturday, August 18, 2001 at his residence. He was the son of Bonnie Curd and the late Lawrence A. Curd of Glasgow, a member of the First Baptist Church in Glasgow, and a former salesman for the Oxmoor and Perkins Automotive Groups in Louisville.

Besides his mother he is survived by; one son: Nicholas Curd of Phoenix, Arizona; two brothers: John Curd of Louisville, Kentucky and Robert Curd of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one sister: Jeanette Massey of Bowling Green, Kentucky; 3 grandchildren; 6 nephews and a host of other friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 A. M. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Oddfellow cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00-3:00 P.M. and 6:00-9:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Herschel Lewis Curtis

- January 28, 2004

Herschel Curtis, 76, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004 at The Medical Center in Bowling Green. He was the son of the late Samuel Curtis and Birdie Veluzat Curtis.

He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Peers cemetery. Visitation will be after 7:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Naomi Curtis

September 20, 1918 - March 22, 2008

Naomi Curtis, 89, of Glasgow, died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the Rosewood Health Care Center in Bowling Green. She was the daughter of the late George Goad and Alice Emberton Goad.

She is survived by one son: Gary Proffitt of Bowling Green; two grandsons; one brother: Warren Goad and his wife Cleva of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husbands: Basil Proffitt and Rev. G. N. Curtis; five brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be after 4:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Midlothian cemetery in Midlothian, Texas.
