William K. Hadley

October 31, 1929 - March 24, 2003

William K. “Bill” Hadley, 73, Glasgow, died Monday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Cumberland County, he was a son of the late Clarence and Nettie Cooksey Hadley. He was a retired employee of Sorensen’s in Glasgow and a longtime gunsmith.

Survivors include his wife, Violet; one son, Robert Blake Hadley of Glasgow; one daughter- law, Brenda Hadley of Glasgow; one brother, Ed Hadley of Marrowbone; two sisters, Kathryn Shaw of Subtle and Nell Brown of Dubree; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, William K. Hadley, Jr. and Jerry Wayne Hadley.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Carlos E. Gordon

January 27, 1922 - December 28, 2003

Carlos E. Gordon, 81, formerly of Glasgow , died Monday, December 29, 2003 , at Medco Center in Franklin . The son of the late Ruth Ferguson and George Dibbrel Gordon, he was a commercial artist and a United States Navy Veteran of WW II.

Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Caldwell and her husband, Richard, of Springfield , TN ; one son, Michael Gordon and his wife, Robin, of Kingston Springs , TN ; three grandsons, Richard C. L. Caldwell II, Joshua M Caldwell and Zachary M. Gordon; one granddaughter, Hannah Marie Gordon; one great- granddaughter, Kaitlyn Caldwell; one nephew, Eddie Atnip and his wife, Alice, of Glasgow; two great nieces, Kathy Atnip and Allison Atnip Chambers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Vernolean Atnip.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2003 , at the Glasgow Municipal cemetery . Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Blake Gentry

December 31, 2005 - May 27, 2008

Christopher Blake Cooper Gentry, 2 year old son of Chris Gentry and Jessica Jessie of Glasgow, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital from complications of pneumonia.

In addition to his parents, Blake is survived by one sister, Kaitlyn Gentry; grandparents, Roger and Sue Gentry and Tony Jessie; great- grandparents, Garnet and Charleen Allen, Frances Cooper, Robert and Shirley Davidson and Raymond and Jean Jessie; two aunts, Brandi (Mark) Welsh and Kimberly (James) Campbell; an uncle, Harley Jessie; four cousins, Landon, Dakota and Alexia Campbell and Justin Welsh; a special family friend and caregiver, Tabbitha Melton; several great aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by a grandmother, Jeanie “Nana” Davidson and a great- grandfather, Walter “Tommy” Cooper.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Nora Alice Hardin

March 26, 1910 - April 27, 2005

Nora Alice Wheeler Hardin, 95, Glasgow, died Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at her residence. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Josephine Wood and Francis Marion Wheeler, a homemaker and a member of the Parkwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Betty Claywell and her husband, William, of Nobob, Patty Schroerlucke and Judy Workman and her husband, Harold, all of Louisville, Connie Hart and her husband, Bill, of Glasgow; one son, Larry W. Hardin and his wife, Rose, of Summer Shade; a daughter- in- law, Sharon Hardin of Glasgow; 14 grandchildren, Debbie Claywell, Gary Hardin, Michael Claywell, Carrie Schueler, Jerry Hardin, Johnny Keys, Laura Caudill, Teresa Biller, Patrice McMurtrey, Timothy Keys, Kelly Anderson, David Hardin, Joe Hardin and Kasey Hart Lee; 21 great- grandchildren, Lindsey Claywell, Kyle Claywell, Karen Jeffries, Alex Schroerlucke, Michael Schueler, Daniel Schueler, Justin Rinfrow, Jessica Caudill, Ashley McMurtrey, Hunter McMurtrey, Rachel Keys, Kerstin Keys, Wyatt Keys, Michael Hardin, Megan Hardin, David Hardin, Konnor Anderson, Kelsea Anderson, Evan Lee, Lacy Biller and John Thomas Biller; two great- great grandchildren, Austin Willis and Allie Jeffries; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rupert Alton Hardin; one daughter, Jerry Sue Hardin; one son, Joe Grant Hardin; two grandchildren, Allen Schroerlucke and Miranda Hardin; one great- grandson, Kevin Bartley; five sisters, Alma Wheeler, Bertha Jones, Lucy Hicks, Nadean Leath and Frances Martin; one brother, Bill Wheeler.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Ruth S. Fox

August 28, 1925 - September 14, 2003

Ruth S. Fox, 78, Sebring , Florida , died Sunday, September 14, 2003 in Avon Park , FL.

Mrs. Fox was born August 28, 1925 to Floyd and Gertrude Shelley Smith in Metcalfe County . She was a retired teacher, having taught in the Glasgow City Schools for 28 years. She was a member of the Glasgow Golf and Country Club and the First United Methodist Church in Glasgow . She and her husband retired to Sebring in 1989.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Carl J. Fox of Sebring; one son, Carl J. “Jim” Fox III, and his wife, Sarah, of Prior Lake, Minnesota; eight grandchildren, Tommy Staples, Jr. of Glasgow, Chrisn King of Cave City, Carl James Fox IV of San Francisco, Mikki Owens of Moron Air Base in Spain, Sarah Fox of Bowling Green, and Andrew Fox, Georgia Fox and Jackson Fox all of Prior Lake; eight great- grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Pamela Staples and Deborah Fox.

Memorial Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m. , Sunday, October 19, 2003 , at the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens . A friendship gathering will be held at the First United Methodist Church immediately following the service until 4:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the T.J. Samson Community Hospital Hospice Program . Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Cynthia Evans

February 16, 1960 - July 2, 2007

Cynthia Evans, 47, Glasgow, died Monday, July 02, 2007, at her residence. A native of New Orleans, she was a daughter of Severo and Henrietta Gonzalez. She was a homemaker and a member of the Refuge Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband, John; two sons, Ricky Evans and wife, Mandy, of Arkansas, and Brian Evans and wife, Misty, of Glasgow; three daughters, Melissa James and husband, Jesse, of Glasgow, Jessica Barnes and husband, Brad, of Houston, and Dawn Evans of New Orleans; eight grandchildren, Brian Evans, Allison and Kristin Barnes, Jacob James, Alyiah Evans, Jayden Evans, Shailey Evans, Alexis Evans and another expected in November; her mother, Henrietta Gonzalez of New Orleans; one brother, Randy Gonzalez of New Orleans; two sisters, Shelia Gagne of New Orleans and Sandy Evans of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 5, 2007, at the Refuge Church of Christ. Cremation will follow. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Lena B. Davis

January 20, 1919 - August 14, 2008

Lena B. Davis, 89, Glasgow, died Thursday, August 14, 2008, at her residence. A daughter of the late Jim and Dora Taylor Likens, she was a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Shelby Jean Gillock (William “Buddy) Joyce Martin and Judy Wooten (Danny); one son, James Larry “Rooster” Davis (Martha); 11 grandchildren, Mike Gillock (Marsha), Glen Gillock (Sherry), Lori Tyler (Roger), Rita Billingsley (Chris), Steve Wooten (Shanna), Scott Davis (Cammy), Stacy Martin, Shelly Wooten (Keller), Chris Davis, Jason Wooten (April) and Gina Williams (David); one sister, Marie Slayton; 11 great- grandchildren; 5 step- great- grandchildren; 1 great- great- grandchild on the way; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Ewing “Moon” Davis; one daughter, Phyllis Davis; 4 sisters; 2 brothers; 1 great- granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Lola Lee Davis

July 6, 1910 - January 12, 2004

Lola Lee Davis, 93, Glasgow , died Monday, January 12, 2004 , at the Glasgow Health & Rehab Center . The daughter of the late Charlie and Martha Smith Houchens, she was a homemaker and a member of the Peters Creek Baptist Church .

Survivors include two daughters, Christine Shipley of Bowling Green and Catherine Wiley and her husband, William, of Glasgow ; one son, J. T. Davis of Scottsville; four grandchildren, Carolyn Shirley, David Wiley, Gary Davis and Barry Davis; several great- grandchildren and great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ester Davis.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Minnie Gaye Davis

September 30, 1934 - April 1, 2004

Minnie Gaye Davis, 69, Glasgow , died Thursday, April 01, 2004 at the Glenview Heath Care Facility. A native of Barren County , she was a daughter of the late Ethel Strode and John “Ped” Bowles. She was a homemaker and was co- owner with her husband in the Davis & Sons Produce in Glasgow and a member of the Trinity Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband, Lonnie; five children, Tim Davis and his wife, Sherri, Sheila Forrest and her husband, Doug, DeWayne Davis and his wife, Tonja, all of Glasgow, Twona Gaunt and her husband, Barry, and Kim Bowles and her husband, Steven, all of Bowling Green; ten grandchildren, April Craine and husband, Todd, Barry Forrest, Stephanie Jones and husband, Dustin, Chad Morrison, Corey Morrison, Luke Davis, Katie Beth Davis, Jake Davis, Andi Davis and Sara Davis; one brother, Andrew Bowles of Glasgow; three sisters, Maude Adams of Columbus, IN, Ella Kinslow and Phyllis Stephenson of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Christine Dean

June 19, 1919 - January 21, 2006

Christine Frances Culver Dean, 86, Glasgow, died Saturday, January 21, 2006, at the Barren County Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late John and Ellen Cox Culver. She was a retired employee of Kentucky Pants Co. with 32 years of service.

Survivors include her husband, Leslie Dean; one daughter, Martha Leslie Martin and her husband, Danny, of Glasgow; two grandchildren, Nathaniel Johnson and his wife, Lindsay, of Boulder, CO, and Eli Johnson of Lexington; two step- grandchildren, Andrea Smith and husband, Chris, of Glasgow, and Heather Wilson and husband, Jeff, of Cave City; one step- great- grandchild, Laura Wilson; one sister, Ella Lewis Johnson of Glasgow; two sisters- in- law, Mary Gatewood Culver and Louise Culver, both of Glasgow; special friend, Jamie Buchanan of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Clara Franklin, Stella Peden, Madeline Calvert and Hattie Lou Groce; four brothers, Bronner, Hughie, Stanley and Lawrence Culver.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ashton Todd Houchens

Ashton Todd Houchens, Stillborn son of Richard David Houchens, Jr. and Kimberly Todd Houchens was born January 26, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Besides his parents he is survived by one Brother Richard Logan Houchens, His Paternal Grandparents are Richard Houchens and his wife Effie of Glasgow. Barbara Langford and her husband Dewey of Glasgow. Maternal Grandparents are Thelma Groce and her husband Bobby, Larry Todd and his wife Doris. The Paternal Aunts and Uncles are Chris Houchens and his wife Lori. Stacy Sturegon and her husband Keith. Charlie Rich. The Maternal Aunt: Teena Stout and her husband Marlon and there Son Tanner. The Maternal Uncle is Michael Todd and his wife Heather.

Graveside service will be 10:00 AM Monday at the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home
