Shelby Dennis Gillon

April 17, 1939 - January 4, 2004

Shelby Dennis Gillon, 64, Bowling Green, formerly of the Red Cross Community, died Sunday, January 4, 2004, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Preston and Elizabeth Johnson Williams Gillon, a retired serviceman for Pepsi and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include one son, Allen Gillon and his wife, Angela, of Glasgow; three daughters, Marla Wood and Janie Lyons and her husband, Jimmy, of Bon Ayr, Penny Garner and her husband, Todd, of Glasgow; eight grandchildren, Nick Wood, Timmy Wood, James Lyons, Jake Lyons, Nichole Gillon, Shelby Garner, Hannah Gillon and Mason Gillon; one brother, Randy Gillon and his wife, Joan, of Bowling Green; one niece, Anna Beth Gillon; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Rose Inman Gillon.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Old Zion cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Jerry Kash Franklin

August 26, 1939 - June 25, 2003

Jerry Kash Franklin, 64, Crossville, TN, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, in Ontario, Canada. A native of Ohio, he was a son of the late Homer E. and Mary Katherine Hampton Franklin. He was a retired plant manager for Colbert Packaging Company in Crossville and an avid fisherman and camper.

Survivors include his wife, Nijole; one son, Kenneth Ray Franklin and his wife, Karen, of McHenry, IL; one daughter, Kimberly Dawn Lindquist and her husband, Lars, of Chicago; five grandchildren, Amber, Kenneth, Justin, Chelsie and Mason; one brother, Douglas H. Franklin and his wife, Janice, of Columbia, MO; one sister, Karen Hellard of Glasgow; his step- mother, Velma Franklin of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Romilda Franklin.

Visitation will be held from 3- 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with cremation to follow. Memorial Graveside Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 4, 2003, at the Glasgow Municipal cemetery.

Aaron Hernandex

July 1, 1988 - November 10, 2001

Aaron Hernandez, 21, Glasgow, died Saturday in Glasgow. He was born July 1, 1988 in Ebano, Mexico and was an employee of B.R. Retreading in Glasgow. He is the son of Margarito Hernandez and Marie Hernandez Medina of Mexico.

Local survivors include his wife, Barbara Hernandez; a brother- in- law, Francisco Suarez of Summer Shade; a nephew, Francisco Hernandez and his fiancée, Tammi Valtierria of Summer Shade; and his parents- in- law, Barbara and Steve Graham of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date near Ebano, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Theodore "Teddy" Grabowski

Theodore "Teddy" Grabowski, 81, died Sunday March 25, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Frances Grabowski and Bertha Peitonicz Grabowski. He was a veteran of WWII, an avid saxophone player and a restaurateur in Florida.

He is survived by two grandchildren: Terry Maggert of Glasgow and Heidi Maggert of Nashville, TN. One brother: Walter Grabowski.

Memorial service will be held 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 3, 2001 at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home in Hollywood FL. Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Fred Hunter Funeral Home.

Mary Elizabeth Elmore

February 20, 1914 - November 6, 2004

Mary Elizabeth Barrick Elmore, 90, Glasgow , died Saturday, November 06, 2004 , at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . Born in Barren County , she was the daughter of the late William Haskel Barrick and Ruby Rose Forbis Barrick and the wife of the late Wilborn “Red” Elmore.

Mrs. Elmore was a 1934 graduate of Glasgow High School and a former bookkeeper and homemaker. She was a faithful and lifelong member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church .

She was a devoted mother and grandmother to three children, Margaret Simmons and her husband, Charles, of Jacksonville, FL, Jennifer Sherrell and her husband, Tim, of Allen County, KY, Michael Elmore and his wife, Carol, of Hendersonville, TN; four grandchildren, Susan Simmons, Matthew (Matt) Elmore, Sarah Sims and Ashley Sims.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, R.C. Barrick, and one sister, Bessie Jewell Barrick Jackson, both of Glasgow .

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cedar Grove cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Larry Damon Ferguson

November 3, 1952 - June 27, 2008

Larry Damon Ferguson, 55, Glasgow, died Friday, June 27, 2008, at the Barren County Health Care Center. A son of Juanita Mills and the late Ernest Damon Ferguson, he was a former orderly at T. J. Samson Community Hospital and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Melody Sue Ferguson; one son, Larry Bruce Ferguson and his wife, Carrie K. of Alexandria, VA; his mother Juanita Mills Ferguson of Glasgow; one brother, Marty Ferguson of Glasgow; one sister, Carolyn Haas of Bristol, IN; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one nephew, Ronnie Lee Haas.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Horse Cave cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Jimmy N. Freeman

May 11, 1935 - July 24, 2001

Jimmy N. Freeman, 66, Evans Road, Glasgow, died Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at his residence. Born May 11, 1935 in Gum Springs, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Ervin and Nona Mae Freeman Rowden. He was reared in Garner and later moved to Peoria, IL where he graduated from Manual High School. He then joined and later retired as a Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force, during which time he served in Vietnam and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

Survivors include three sisters, Ann Bailey of Glasgow, Linda Mulligan of Batesville, MS. and Diana Webb of Creve Coeur, IL.; two brothers, Donald Rowden of East Peoria, IL. and Robert Rowden of Ethel, MO.; An aunt, Fayrene Cole and an uncle and aunt, Cutter and Clarice Dickens all of Searcy, AR.; other relatives and a host of friends, including Howard and Helen Noe of East Peoria, IL.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Honor Guard from Wright- Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Herschel Hughes

February 8, 1932 - March 8, 2008

Herschel Lovon Hughes, 76, of Hiseville died Saturday, March 08, 2008 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital, after an extended illness. He was a retired dairy cattle dealer and an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by his wife: Mary Jo Culver Hughes; one son: Mark Hughes and his wife Letitia; one daughter: Trudy H. Weaver and her husband Murl; four granddaughters: Tiffany Toliver and her husband Chad, Tara Hogue and her husband Ryan, Mariah Hughes and Malena Hughes; two great- grandchildren: Sierra Toliver and Grayson Toliver; three sisters: Beatrice Firkin and her husband Jude, Jewell Rigdon and her husband Elmer, Katherine London and her husband Jack; one brother: Jimmy Hughes; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Samuel and Louie Beatrice Hughes.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Peden officiating. Burial will be in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy make take the form of donations to the American Heart Association.

Francis "Pat" Hildebrand

June 17, 1921 - July 31, 2005

Francis Paralee “Pat” Hildebrand, 84, Glasgow, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Louisiana, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Moore Foreman. She was a former resident of Tompkinsville for many years and had moved to Glasgow two years ago to be near her daughter, Gracie. She was a homemaker and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Tompkinsville and Anacoco, Louisiana.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Cecil and her husband, John, of Florida, and Gracie McCoy and her husband, Philip, of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Belinda McMillan and husband, Bill of Florida, Melissa Cecil and husband, Richard Griffin, of Mobile, AL, and Tina Steen and husband, Les, of Glasgow; four great- grandchildren, Logan, Tyler, Hannah and Emma; one cousin, Juanita Wood of Winfield, LA; one brother- in- law, Bobby Joe McGurit of Texas; one sister- in- law, Merle Crews of Shreveport, LA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2005, at the Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, Louisiana with burial in the Warren cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 noon Thursday at the Warren Meadows Funeral Home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Warren cemetery Fund, c/o Jerry Hildebrand, 3594 Warren Church Road, Many, LA 71449.

There will be no local visitation. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

B. L. Eubank

November 26, 1931 - June 11, 2003

B. L. Eubank, 71, Glasgow, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Elizabeth Pickett and Vester White Eubank, Sr. He was a farmer, a member of the Church of Christ and a devoted song leader.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth McFarland Eubank; two daughters, Lori Anderson and her husband, Billy, of Glasgow, Angela Marksbary and her husband, Scott, of Bon Ayr; five grandchildren, Ben Anderson, Emily Marksbary, Traci Anderson, Ellen Marksbary and Rob Anderson; five sisters, Lois McFarland and Naomi Kinslow of Glasgow, Frances Webb of Hodgenville, Barbara Cook of Louisville and Ruth Faye Yates of Nashville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Eubank and Vester Eubank, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Bowles cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Brooks Gibson

February 15, 1925 - January 20, 2002

Brooks Gibson, 76, of Glasgow died, Sunday, January 20, 2002 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Marshall Edward Gibson and Ruby Sneed Gibson. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Smiths Grove, a member of the Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV, a veteran of WWII. He was also a avid mule trail riding enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife Mary Alice Pedigo Gibson; One Son: Donnie Edward Gibson of Glasgow; four daughters: Rita Diane Davis of Glasgow, Lori Lynn Gibson of Glasgow, Alice Faye Gibson of Louisville, and Julia Annett Keown of Brownsville. Nine grandchildren: Tammie VanBuren and her husband Rob, Susan Gibson, Sherry Douglas and her husband Brian, Patrick Hale and his wife Natasha, Joshua Hale, Jennifer Hale, Ronnie (Eddie) Atkins, (Tammy) Christi Youakem and her husband Brian. Three step grandchildren: Larry Wayne Keown and his wife Marlena, Kevin Ray Kewon and his wife Renee and Kimberly Taylor; nine great- grandchildren; 9 step- great- grandcildren; one sister: Laverne East of Bowling Green; two brothers: Marshall Gibson, Jr. and his wife Margie and Joe Gibson and his wife Jackie both of Bowling Green. Several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Charles Gibson.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Big Meadow cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home after 1:00 P.M. Monday. Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will do military honors at the graveside.

Robert John Hagedorn

May 8, 1932 - May 12, 2001

Robert John Hagedorn, 69, of Glasgow, died Saturday, May 12, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born March 8, 1932 in Oak Park, Illinois, he was a son of the late A.L. and Lillian Wessel Hagedorn. He retired as a manager of R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company in Glasgow in 1994 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the United States Marine Corps.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene Wakefield Hagedorn, daughter of Louise and the late L.K. Wakefield of Glasgow; two daughters, Hillary Hagedorn Bomball, her husband, Eric, and their daughter, Emily, of St. Louis and Meredith Hagedorn of Palo Alto, California; one brother, William Hagedorn, his wife, Jane, and their son, Lewis, of Morton Grove, Illinois.

Memorial service will be 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Friends may call after 6:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to T. J. Samson Home Health Agency or Cardiac Rehabilitation Center.
