Roy Hagerty

February 10, 1943 - November 09, 2005

Roy Hagerty, 62, of Glasgow, died Wednesday, November 09, 2005 at his residence. He was the son of the late Elcie Hagerty and Carrie Harlan Hagerty. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife JoAnn Hagerty; two sons: Raymond Hagerty and his wife Kimily and Jonathan Hagerty both of Glasgow; one daughter: Ann Hagerty of Glasgow; eight grandchildren: Tobias Hagerty, Timothy Hagerty, Jared Sanchez, Andrea Hagerty, Bryson Bailey, Mercedes Hagerty, America Thurman and Joseph Hagerty; one sister: Lorene Hagerty of Glasgow.

Funeral will be 1:00 Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Deweese cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 A. M. Friday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow at the cemetery.

Dr. Lewis Dickinson

Dr. Lewis Dickinson, 87, died peacefully on Friday, January 28 in Glasgow, Kentucky. A graduate of Glasgow High School, he received a degree from Transylvania University and then attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He received his MD degree in December 1942, the same month he married Selma Goodman, his loving wife for 52 years. She preceded him in death in 1994.

After his internship, he reported for active duty with the U. S. Army. Eventually assigned to the 10th Mountain Division, he trained with the ski troops of the 10th Mountain at Camp Hale, Colorado. The Division was deployed to Italy and saw fierce action against the German army. Captain Dickinson was awarded the Bronze Star for courage under fire.

Following the war he completed specialty work in diabetes and internal medicine before returning to Glasgow where he established a medical practice with his brother, Dr. John Dickinson, who was a surgeon. For many years, Dr. Dickinson was Glasgow’s only specialist in internal medicine. Dr. Lewis was later joined in practice by his son, Dr. L. G. Dickinson. He brought electrocardiography to T. J. Samson Hospital and Glasgow.

Dr. Dickinson was a member of the Kentucky Medical Association since 1949. Dr. Dickinson was a Fellow in the American College of Physicians since 1955, as well as a member of the Society of Internal Medicine. He was a member and past president of the Kentucky Diabetes Association. He served as a member of the Area Health Planning Council. While he practiced internal medicine, he devoted significant study to diabetes, especially working with diabetic children.

Dr. Dickinson served as board member for the Kentucky Heart Association. In July, 1969, he was elected chairman of the Mammoth Cave Mental Retardation Regional Board and was instrumental in gaining the Mental Health Center in Glasgow. He served for 15 years as chairman of the Utilization Review Committee at the T. J. Sampson Community Hospital.

He was deacon, elder and trustee at First Christian Church, Glasgow, Kentucky, and with his wife was sponsor of the Chi Rho youth group. He was an active supporter of Boy Scouts of America, and attained Eagle rank. He had a long association with Rotary Scout Camp, including helping to build some of the original cabins. Among his extensive interests, he was an accomplished amateur botanist and expert on ferns. He frequently provided lectures to local groups using slide photography. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hiking and travel with wife Selma. He was active in the Glasgow Lions Club.

Dr. Dickinson was a beloved father and grandfather. He is survived by four children, Jeanne Dickinson White and husband John White, Marietta, Georgia; Dr. L. G. Dickinson and wife, Sherry Dickinson, Jake Dickinson and wife Pat Dickinson, Temple Dickinson and wife Jan Wussow Dickinson, all of Glasgow. His grandchildren are Lucy White Carlson, Jefferson Dickinson, Kathy Dickinson Glass, Paul White, John Dickinson, and Benjamin Temple Dickinson. Eight great- grandchildren also survive. Other survivors include brother- in- law, Jack Goodman and his wife Bonnie as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held, Saturday, 5pm- 7pm at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, North Race Street, Glasgow. Visitation will continue Sunday, 1pm at First Christian Church, 1100 N. Race Street, Glasgow with funeral services at 2pm. Burial will be in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Glasgow First Christian Church Building Fund or to Rotary Scout Camp, c/o Benny Dickinson, 107 Trigg Court, Glasgow, KY 42141.

Cecil G. Frazier

August 15, 1920 - February 11, 2003

Cecil G. Frazier, 82, Glasgow, died Tuesday at his residence. A native of Monroe County, he was a son of the late Linzie G. and Nola J. Copass Frazier. He was a retired employee of the Barren County Highway Department, a veteran of WW II and a member of the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice; two sons, Melvin Thomas Frazier of Columbus, IN, and James Ray Frazier of Glasgow; one daughter, Sharon Faye Johnson of Glasgow; one foster daughter, Threase “Teresa” Bragg of Glasgow; four brothers, Oscar Frazier of Columbus, IN, Ernest Frazier of Taylorsville, IN, Earl “Buddy” Frazier and Reggie Frazier both of Glasgow; one sister, Letha White of Glasgow; 8 grandchildren; 10 great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Melvin T. Frazier, Jr. and Tony Lynn Frazier; three brothers, Paul, Sam and William “Rowdy” Frazier; three sisters, Mary “Mag” Shelton, Bessie “Ann” Jobe, and Ruby Perry.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Paul Douglas Hurt

April 23, 1935 - January 11, 2008

Paul Douglas Hurt, 72, of Glasgow died Friday, January 11, 2008 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Paul Dallas Hurt and Edna Jane Harris Hurt. He was retired from SKF Tyson Bearing. A member of the Temple Baptist Church, Jaycee’s and a member of the DAV Chapter 20 Color Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Delsie Shaw Hurt; one son: Douglas Gyle Hurt of Lexington; two brothers: Jessie and his wife Aleen of Lecta and Richard Hurt and his wife Donna of Glasgow; four sisters: Melba Richey and her husband Victor of Owensboro, Laverne Eudy of Hiseville, Patricia Spears and her husband Ed of Glasgow and Paulette Shirley and her husband Nolan of Glasgow. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral with Bro. Dennis Hibbard officiating. Burial will be in the Hurt- Defevers cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ewell Greer

November 21, 1930 - May 15, 2006

Charles Ewell Greer, 75, Knob Lick, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A son of the late Harry and Elise Freeman Greer, he was a retired farmer and a member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Roger Greer and wife, Maria; five daughters, Marilyn Williams and husband, Harry, Joan Baker and husband, Don, Rita Wilson and husband, Terry, Sherry Bratcher and husband, James, Anita Vance and husband, John; 14 grandchildren, Amy Rich (Thomas), Natalie Travis (Matt), Amanda Forrest (Greg), Nena Walters, Tiffany Bennett (Aaron), Kristen Childress (B.J.), Jonathan Greer (Amiee), Derek Wilson, Tonya Saltsman, Dustin Phillips, Jenna Pace (Eric), Drew Saltsman, Emilee Wilson and Trevor Phillips; 8 great- grandchildren; his companion and caregiver, Alice Byrd; Alice’s children, Eddie Estep, Brenda Horton (Dave), Pam McCuiston (Tony), Mark Byrd (Stacy; Alice’s 6 grandchildren and 4 great- grandchildren; one sister- in- law, Blanche Greer; four nieces.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florine Johnson Greer; one brother, Stanley Greer and two sisters, Eileen Ramey and Emma Jean Rust.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Neal Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Big Meadow cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Joseph B. Harlow, Sr.

August 7, 1929 - April 5, 2001

Joseph B. Harlow, Sr., 71, Griderville, died Thursday, April 5, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community. A native of Barren County, he was the son of the late William E. and Ellery Vanzant Harlow, a retired farmer and a member of the Salem Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son: Joseph B. Harlow, Jr. and his wife, Tina of Glasgow; three daughters: Carolyn London and her husband, David of Hiseville, Debbie Gerald and her husband, Roger, and Bonnie England and her husband, Ronnie all of Glasgow; one half- sister, Imogene Clark of Louisville; a special friend, Nell Francis; five grandchildren; four great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Conchita "Penny" Wood Harlow.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

James Elvin Garner

July 12, 1925 - January 13, 2006

James Elvin Garner, 80, of Glasgow died Friday, January 13, 2006 at the NHC Nursing Facility. He was the son of the late Herdis L. Garner and Lela M. Hurt Garner. A retired farmer/electrician and a Marine veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his wife Frances Staples Garner; one daughter: Carolyn Garner; one son: Jay Garner of Glasgow; two grandchildren: Angie King and her husband Todd of Glasgow and Brad Sharp and his wife Sherry of Glasgow; five great- grandchildren: Myles, McKinley, Morgan, Mason and Madison; one step great- grandchild: Matthew; one brother: Henry P. Garner of Glasgow.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Roger Lee Garner and one sister Virginia Garner.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be between 2:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lucille Farris Graham

June 25, 1910 - May 30, 2004

Lucille “Dee” Farris Graham, 93, Griderville, died Sunday, May 30, 2004, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Ed Shelton Farris and Bertha Walton Farris. She was the widow of the late Lt. Col. Charles Graham, a homemaker and a member of the Hiseville United Methodist Church .

Survivors include one niece, Gail Jackson and her husband, Ralph, of Cave City; two great- nephews, Shelton Farris and his wife, Cindy, and Ralph Farris Jackson and his wife, Kim, all of Cave City; two great- great nephews, Nicholas and Will Jackson; one sister- in- law, Mary Spillman Farris Newberry.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Gloria Harwood

July 15, 1941 - February 13, 2007

Gloria (Jean) Harwood, 65, Fountain Run, died Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She was a former employee of Fruit of the Loom and Kentucky Apparel in Fountain Run. She was a member of the Tracy United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Marion Dean Harwood; three daughters, Missy Cunningham of Bowling Green, Ronda Edwards of Franklin and Linda Wilson of Ft. Run; one son, Robert Eckert of Bowling Green; her mother, Nettie (Pug) Oller; seven grandsons, Christopher Treichelt, Woody Woodson, Josh Tamayo, Cody Edwards, Jonathan Anderson, Justin Southerland and Shelby Edwards.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007, at the Tracy United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & S

Tasha Marie Cardwell Eatmon

January 10, 1979 - August 6, 2002

Tasha Marie Cardwell Eatmon age 23 of Villa Drive Horse Cave died suddenly Tuesday at her residence. She is the daughter of Ricky and Donna Logsdon cardwell who survives. She was a homemaker.

Besides her parents she is survived by her husband: Jimmy Eatmon of Horse Cave. Three Daughters: Robin Fleming, Sarah Marie Eatmon and Summer Louann Eatmon all at home. Maternal Grandparents: Jake and Peggy Logsdon of Indianapolis Indiana. Paternal Grandparent: James Cardwell of Bowling Green. Two Brothers: Ricky Cardwell of Horse Cave and Stanley Chapman Jr. of Glasgow. Two Sisters: Melissa Helson of Bowling Green and Barbara Cardwell of Horse Cave.

Funeral will be 4:00 P.M. Thursday at the Light House Church in Horse Cave with burial in the Horse Cave cemetery. Friends may call at the church after 2:00 P.M Wednesday. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home is in Charge of the Arrangements.
