Mildred Holman Dickinson

September 19, 1912 - August 27, 2004

Mildred Holman Dickinson, 91, Glasgow, died Friday, August 27, 2004, at NHC Health Care Center. Born in Beckton, KY, on September 19, 1912, she graduated Glasgow High School and married Dr. John Dickinson on October 28, 1938. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Christian Church of Glasgow .

Survivors include three daughters, Martha Dickinson of Ellsworth, Maine, Ann Beal of Chatham, Virginia, and Joan Walker of Durham, North Carolina ; one son- in- law, Henry Walker; four grandchildren, Aaron Walker of St. Paul, Minnesota, Jonathan Beal of Washington, DC, Ike Walker of Acton, Massachusetts, and Madeline Beal of Berkeley, California; one granddaughter-in-law, Liz Walker; one sister-in-law, Anna Holman; one brother-in-law, Dr. Lewis Dickinson; numerous nephews, nieces and their children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be from 5- 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Lyron "Mousie" Forrest

October 26, 1926 - December 14, 2002

Lyron “Mousie” Forrest, 76, of Glasgow died Saturday, December 14, 2002 at his residence. He was the son of the late Lemore Forrest and Lector Jennings Forrest. He was a WWII Air Force veteran and a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife: Violet Copas Forrest; one son: Steve Forrest and his wife Betty of Glasgow; one step- daughter: Brenda Owen and her husband Gene of Glasgow; two step- grandchildren: Kim Landrum and her husband Bobby and Lori Steger and her husband Robert of Glasgow; two step- grandchildren: Mandy Steger and Chase Landrum; two brothers: Wendell Forrest of Louisville and Carol Forrest of Glasgow.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Southern Kentucky or the Glasgow Baptist Church.

Gladys Harbison

Gladys Harbison, 93, died Sunday, June 16, 2002 at the Medco Center in Franklin. The Glasgow native and her late husband, Lawrence, owned and operated a local grocery for 40 years. A member of the First Christian Church of Glasgow, she was active in many community and service clubs.

Survivors include an only son, Charles; four grandchildren, David, Clay and Kristina, all of Bowling Green, and Dan of Scottsville; and two great- granddaughters, Jessica and Meredith.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 19th, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow, followed by burial in the Hiseville cemetery.

Ann Dickson

September 2, 1930 - October 27, 2003

Ann Dickson, 73, Glasgow, died Monday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Pearl Lowery and H. H. Thomerson. She was retired manager of Jr. Foods # 4 on Happy Valley Road after more than 20 years of service and was presently a part- time cashier at Wal- Mart in Glasgow and a member of Bethel Independent Baptist Church .

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Forrest and her husband, Steve, and Deborah Jessie and her husband, Ricky, all of Glasgow; one son, Wayne Cross and his wife, Kathy, of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Lori Steger, Ricky Parsons, Tim Cross, Jeremy Goodman and Shaun Goodman; one brother, John Thomerson and his wife, Mae Dell, of Glasgow; one sister- in- law, Opal Thomerson of Glasgow; eight great- grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Dickson; and three brothers, Raymond Thomerson, Roy Thomerson and Joe Thomerson.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens . Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Thelma Lee Grider

September 26, 1915 - November 7, 2003

Thelma Lee Grider, 88, Griderville, died Friday, November 7, 2003, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . A native of Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late John and Edna Vaughn Patton. She, along with her late husband, Ernest, was owner and operator of Grider’s Grocery at Griderville and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Glasgow.

Survivors are two sons and their wives, J. L. and Sue Nell Grider of Griderville and Kenneth and Karen Grider of Danville, IL; one sister, Mable Holman of Glasgow; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Mary Revels and the late Bruce, of Morris, IL, Jim Grider, Jr. and friend Donna of Glasgow, Leslie Harper and Roger of Burbank, IL, Sheila Hodges and Jamie of Goodnight, Kevin Grider and Sharon of Hardyville, Liz Stanik and Mike of Palos, IL, Chris Grider and Sherri of Plainfield, IL; twelve great- grandchildren, Ami Revels and Aaron Revels of Morris, IL, Katelynn Landers, Ashley Landers and James L. “Jimbo” Grider III of Burbank, Brian Hodges and Sarah Hodges of Goodnight, Kenny Grider and Kellie Grider of Hardyville, Tommy Stanik of Palos, Jacob and Vincent Grider of Plainfield; four step- great- grandchildren; one great- great grandson, Dakota Revels of Morris; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Pamela Sue Grider and William Lee Grider; three brothers, Bentford Patton, Printis Patton and Cue Patton; and one sister, Seretha Morgan.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery . Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Ollie Bell Dillard

June 4, 1933 - February 1, 2004

Ollie Bell Dillard, 70, of Glasgow died Sunday, February 01, 2004 at her residence. She was born June 4, 1933 in Marrowbone, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Lucy Gibson Ballard. She was a member of the East Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years: Floyd Neal Dillard; three sons: Carl N. Dillard and his wife Shelia, Terry L. and his wife Shelia and Bobby L. Dillard and his wife Linda all of Glasgow; four grandchildren: Jeffrey Dillard and his wife Amber of Hickory North Carolina, Diana M. Dillard and her fiancée Curtis Smith of Ohio, Gregory M. Dillard of Glasgow and Jenny Shreffler and her husband Shawn of Pennsylvania; one great- grandchild Haley Shreffler; four step- grandchildren: John Myers, Samantha Myers, Trava Myers and Brandon; two brothers: Martin Ballard and his wife Nina and Clarence Ballard and his wife Mary; several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers: Hunter Ballard, Fred Ballard, Talbert Ballard, Marvin Ballard and Lesko Ballard; one sister: Mattie Ward.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home. Friends may call the funeral home after 4:00 P.M. on Monday.

B J Flowers

June 28, 1956 - October 31, 2005

Barbara “BJ” Neal Flowers, 49 of Glasgow, died October 31, 2005 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of Emma Lee Byrd Ballard and the late Marvin Ballard.

Besides her mother she is survived by her husband: James Flowers; two daughters: Kaneca Neal and her fiancé Robert Tarry and Amanda Browning and her husband Chris; three grandchildren: Jacob Zackary Williams, Shelby Browning and Christopher Thadius Browning three brothers: Marvin Samuel Ballard and his wife Marilyn, Phillip James Ballard and his wife Becky and Harold Eugene Ballard; two sisters: Jennie Sue Martin and her husband Eugene and Shirley Temple Toms and her husband Jessie; fourteen nieces and nephews and seventeen great- nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Locust Grove cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:30 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Kelly Sue Elmore

September 7, 1968 - October 21, 2005

Kelly Sue Elmore, 37, Salem, IN, died Friday, October 21, 2005, in Indiana. She was the daughter of Virginia Reece Craine of Greensburg and the late Omer Lewis Miller.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Christopher Page of Cave City and Caleb Elmore of Jeffersonville; one brother, Jerry Miller of Center; one sister, Cindy Bedwell of Indiana; maternal grandmother, Lucille Reece of Greensburg.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Houk cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Annie Harper

November 18, 1916 - May 12, 2006

Annie Pearl Simmons Harper, 89, Glasgow, passed this life Friday, May 12, 2006, at NHC Healthcare Center in Glasgow after an extended illness. A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Jim Simmons and Martha Glass Simmons and the wife of the late Millard Depp Harper. She was a homemaker, a health care worker and a member of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include four sons, Bobby Depp Harper of Hiseville, Kenneth Ray Harper (Ellen) of Horse Cave, William Larry Harper (Joetta) of Indianapolis, and Jerry Dale Harper (Bibianna) of Greenfield, IN.; one daughter, Martha Carol White (Bobby) of Glasgow; one daughter- in- law, Patricia Harper Bragg (Wallace) of Cave City; fourteen grandchildren, Robert Harper (Roberta) of Cave City, Loretta McCarter (Doc) of Indianapolis, Sherry Minton (Mike) of Park City, Kenneth Harper, Jr. (Robin) of Cave City, Dana Carpenter (Chad) of Cave City, Michelle Williams (Jeff) of Cave City, Ricky Harper (Beverly) of Cave City, Jimmy White (Diane) of Glasgow, Sandy Corbin (Kenneth) of Glasgow, Lynn Naughle (Tommy) of Indianapolis, Billy Harper (Valerie) of Indianapolis, Joshua Harper of Indianapolis, Jonah Harper of Norfolk, VA, and Jessica Carr (Eric) of Indianapolis, two step- grandchildren, Larry Wayne Gore (Linda) of Glasgow and Kenny Dale Gore (Jo) of Cave City; several great- grandchildren, great- great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Rondel Lee Harper; one granddaughter, Teresa Pearl Harper; two brothers, Brack Simmons and Robert Simmons; three sisters, Susie Renick, Lucy Word and Mary Houchens.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Norine J. Hassel

May 5, 1920 - March 15, 2003

Norine J. Hassel, 82, Glasgow, died Saturday, March 15, 2003, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Vincennes, IN, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Emma Gedde Jording. She was a retired bookkeeper for the Boeing Corporation and a member of the Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her husband, Carl; two daughters, Patricia Powers and husband, Stephen, of Dallas, Cindy Godfrey and husband, Michael, of Atlanta; one granddaughter, Melissa Pelton and husband, Lance, of Ft. Worth; one great- grandson, Lance Pelton, Jr. of Ft. Worth.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, March 18, 2003, at the Glasgow Municipal cemetery under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. There will be no visitation.

Lillian Jones Gumm

January 9, 1909 - June 20, 2008

Lillian Jones Gumm, 99, Glasgow, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at the NHC Healthcare Center. A daughter of the late Cassie and Isabelle Steenbergen Jones, she was a retired clerk at Glasgow National Stores and a member of the Glasgow Baptist Church.

Survivors include six nieces and nephews, Bernice Shelton and Floyd Ray Jones of Glasgow, Fred Jones of Norwalk, CT, Larry Wheat, Sue Herald and Greta Lane of Illinois.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Gumm; one sister, Vera Wheat; four brothers, Floyd Jones, Ewell Jones, Earl Jones and Charlie Jones.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 23, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
