Michael Wayne Scott, 18, of Covington, died at 4:58 a.m. Friday at Tri-County Baptist Hospital in LaGrange.

Survivors include his mother and father, Susan Price of Harrison County and Michael V. Scott of Covington; and grandparents, Bud Rust and Joyce Bailey, both of Covington.

Private services were Tuesday. Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence, handled arrangements.

Janet L. Melvin Searp, 72, of Ludlow, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. She was a retired waitress with American Airlines and a member of Sts. Boniface and James Church, Ludlow. She also was a volunteer with St. Charles Care Center, Ft. Wright, and a member of the St. Charles Care Center Auxiliary. Her husband, Jerry J. Searp, died on June 4.

Survivors include daughters, Debbie Arkenau of Butler and Jo Rene Hass of Lexington; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, 41014, or St. Charles Care Center, 500 Farrell Drive, Covington, 41011.

E. B. Tomlin, 74, of Taylor Mill, died at 10:15 a.m. Monday at his home. He was a retired yard laborer with Southern Railroad Co., and a member of AFL-CIO Brotherhood of Railway Employees.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Tomlin; a son, Jim Gilbert of Latonia; daughters, Sue Gilbert of Taylor Mill, Carla Rowland of Latonia and Carol Bataglia of Burlington; sisters, Rose Shinkle of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and Pearl Hardin of Stockridge, Ga.; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Ruth M. Faulhaber Vater, 85, of Highland Heights, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Alexandria Chapter No. 337 of Order of the Eastern Star. She also was a member of Alexandria United Methodist Church and Women's Missionary Society. Her husband, Gerald Vater, died in 1986.

Survivors include sisters, Katherine Faulhaber of Highland Heights and Corine Clift of Alexandria.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.

Omer A. Webster, 78, of Independence, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday at his home. He was a retired electrician with Norfolk and Southern Railway and Safety Car Co., Ludlow. He was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church. His first wife, Elizabeth Carr Webster, died in 1976. His second wife, Sally Dallas Webster, died in 1996.

Survivors include daughters, Dorline Long of Pittsburgh, Betty Sharon of Ft. Mitchell, Irna R. Clore and Terri Hammons-Vinson, both of Erlanger; sons, Alan A. Webster of Erlanger and David O. Webster of Ft. Mitchell; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Chloie F. Willman, brought kindness to oversight job at Bracken schools

Chloie F. Willman had many duties as Pupil Personnel Director with Bracken County Schools. If a child was absent, she made sure there was a good reason.

Despite the disciplinary aspects of Mrs. Willman's job, she is remembered for her compassion.

"She thought a lot of her students. If they didn't have the money to buy their own clothes, why, she'd do it," said her son Bill Willman, of Brooksville.

Mrs. Willman, 90, of Brooksville, died Tuesday at Robertson County Health Care Center in Mt. Olivet. She was a member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and Brooksville Methodist Church. Her husband, Dennis N. Willman, died in 1988.

Mr. Willman said his mother looked out for everyone, never speaking an unkind word about anyone.

"I'll remember her personality was great, and that I never wanted for anything," Mr. Willman said.

Mrs. Willman was born in Peebles, Ohio, and moved to Bracken County when she was 33.

She was director of pupil services 15 years.

Other survivors include three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Brooksville Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church.

Rosie M. Ammerman, 84, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Moriah Christian Church, Pendleton County; Mt. Moriah Ladies Aide; and was active in the Arts and Crafts Shop at Bedford Housing, Falmouth. Her husband, Steve Ammerman, died in 1969.

Survivors include daughters, Julia McClanahan of Falmouth and Janet Dickerson of Butler; sons, John Ammerman of Crittenden and Frank Ammerman of Butler; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Butler Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the church.

Jeanne D. Fry, 78, of Ft. Wright, died at 10:05 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.

Kathryn Gibson, 38, of Southgate, died at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at her home after an extended illness.

Survivors include a son, Bryson Gibson at home; a daughter, Angel Gibson of Ft. Mitchell; her mother and stepfather, Carol and Bob Devenny of Ft. Mitchell; her father, Raymond Gibson of Alexandria; and a sister, Terry Warfield of Ft. Mitchell.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell.

Elizabeth Tritsch Hallman, 91, of Covington, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Ft. Thomas. She was a retired quality control inspector with Liebel Flarsheim and a member of Epworth Methodist Church, Covington. Her husband, John Hallman, died in 1979.

Survivors include a son, Gilbert Hallman of Punta Gorda, Fla.; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

Anne Marie Jurtsen, 78, of Florence, died at 4:24 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband Robert Andrew Jurtsen, died in 1983.

Survivors include daughters, Pat Tanner of Florence and Diane Price of Louisville; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 7730 U.S. 42, Suite C6, Florence, 41042.

Henry Clayton "Hank" Kelley, 71, of Mt. Olivet, died Wednesday at Columbia Hospital, Maysville. He was a retired employee with Rotex Corp., Cincinnati, and a member of Kentontown Christian Church. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Mullikin Kelley; daughters, Kathy Kelley of Crestview, Fla., Audrey Kelley of Gulf Port, Miss., Vickie Schoonover of Florence, Kimberly Hellebush of Ft. Thomas, Holly Kelley of Mt. Olivet and Robin Kelley of Kihei, Hawaii; brothers, Winford Swearingin and Ron Swearingin, both of Batavia, Ohio; a sister, Billie Jean Stoffel of Batavia; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Shannon Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Hope, 1 West McDonald Parkway, Maysville, 41056. Robertson County Funeral Home, Mt. Olivet, is handling arrangements.

Oma L. Lewis, 83, of Newport, died at 3:51 p.m. Tuesday at Colonial Heights nursing home, Florence. She was a homemaker and a member of Faith and Love Fellowship Church, Newport.

Survivors include her husband, Ivan D. Lewis; and a brother, Robert O. Clark of Detroit.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Pete Padgett, 88, of Auburndale, Fla., died Sept. 20 at his home. He was an inspector for Ford Motor Co., Cincinnati. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Auburndale, and Westwood Baptist Church, Cincinnati.

Survivors include his wife, Lavern Padgett; daughters, Jean Kelsey Meeker of Oklahoma and Joan Cole of Newport; a brother, Earl Padgett of Cincinnati; a sister, Lena Mae Oaks of Cincinnati; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

James H. Rider, 69, of Cincinnati, formerly of Warsaw, died Wednesday at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was a retired employee of CSS Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Wilma Nelson Rider; sons, Steve Rider and David Rider; a daughter, Linda Ames; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
