February 9, 1925 - July 8, 2003

Bernice Harp Reece, 78, of Glasgow, died Tuesday, July 08, 2003 at the Glasgow Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Marshall Harp and Myrtle Glass Harp. She was a member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church

She is survived by one son: Jerry Reece of Glasgow, two daughters: Carolyn Belcher and her husband William and Judy Bowles and her husband Jr. all of Bowling Green; one brother: Travis Harp and his wife Carolyn of Glasgow; three sisters: Jerline Glass of Glasgow, Barbara Smith and her husband J. Larry of Coral Hill and Vernada Cook and her husband Eunell of Chalbeate Springs; four grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Malcolm Reece, two brothers: Mearl Harp and Jessie Harp; one sister: Juanita Emmitt.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Big Meadow cemetery. Visitation will be after 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lonnie Paul Jessie

November 16, 1966 - September 10, 2005

Lonnie Paul Jessie, 38, Cave City, died Saturday, September 10, 2005, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. A native of Barren County, he was a self employed carpenter and a member of the Samson Street Church of God.

Survivors include his parents, Lonnie and Joyce Pennington Jessie of Cave City; two sons, Dakota Jessie and Tyler Jessie both of Glasgow; one daughter, Sierra Jessie of Glasgow; the children’s mother, Melissa, of Glasgow; one sister, Angela Ramsey and Chris Page of Bon Ayr; one niece, Charlie Ramsey and friend, Cory, of Cave City; one nephew, Josh Ramsey of Cave City; one great-nephew, Isaiah Ramsey and one great-niece, Zoe Ramsey, both of Cave City.

He was preceded in death by one nephew, Billy Paul Ramsey; one brother-in-law, Charles “Rat” Ramsey; maternal grandparents, Paul and Elsie Pennington; paternal grandparents, Charlie and Polly Jessie.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Richard V. O'Brien

May 8, 1945 - June 25, 2001

Richard V. O達rien, 56, of Glasgow died Monday, June 25, 2001 at the Bowling Green Medical Center. He was the son of the late Frank O達rien and Maxine Garrison O達rien. He was the husband of the late Suzanne Hodges O達rien. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Survivors include his daughter: Kim O達rien of Elkhart, IN; one granddaughter: Andi House of Elkhart, IN; one brother: Pat O達rien and his wife Janet of Glasgow.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joe Frank Nichols

June 12, 1929 - December 25, 2002

Joe Frank Nichols, 73, Glover Road, Glasgow, died Wednesday, December 25, 2002, at the Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany, IN. He was a son of the late Thomas Dick Nichols and Rosa Alice Atnip Nichols. He was a retired employee of SKF Industries with 25 years of service and a veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Carol Nichols Taylor and her husband, Douglas, of Eighty-Eight; three grandchildren, Cynthia Shirley of Tompkinsville, Rochelle Wood and her husband, Shad, of Glasgow, Michael Taylor of Eighty-Eight; four great-grandchildren, Jesse and John Taylor Shirley and Trevor and Shadda Wood; two sisters, Blondell Emberton of Glasgow and Dickie Jacobs of Walsburg, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Lucille Glass Nichols.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Bowles cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Jimmy Russell

February 15, 1915 - April 19, 2008

James Banister “Jimmy” Russell, 93, formerly of Glasgow, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2008, in Franklin, TN. Mr. Russell, the oldest of eight children, was born to Claude and Hester Russell on February 15, 1915 in Uniontown, KY. He served in WW II, participating in four invasions and receiving the Purple Heart. He lived in Glasgow, KY from 1937 until 1999 when he and his wife, Eleanor, relocated to Franklin, TN. While living in Glasgow, he was employed by the U. S. Postal Service for 30 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Eleanor Miller Russell, Franklin, TN., son, Thomas B. Russell (Phyllis), Paducah, KY., daughter, Emily Alice Harper (Hugh), Franklin, TN., grandchildren, Thomas Baird Russell, Nashville, TN., John Banister Russell (Katherine), Memphis, TN., Russell Bratton Williams, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Sarah Frances Williams, Knoxville, TN., sister, Louellyn Russell SCN, Louisville, KY., and cousin, Sarah Smith (Donnie), Louisville, KY.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Glasgow with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, 4205 Hillsboro Pike, #216, Nashville, TN 37215; Broadway First United Methodist Church, 701 Broadway, Paducah, KY 42001; or the charity of your choice.

Ronnie Lee Mosier

March 4, 1944 - May 1, 2004

Ronnie Lee Mosier, 60, Owl Springs Road, Glasgow, died Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the Medical Center at Bowling Green . A native of Metcalfe County, he was a son of the late Earl and Nellie Jane Dubree Mosier. He was a retired setup man in the molding department at Sorensen’s in Glasgow and a member of the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Green County .

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Fields Mosier; two daughters, Misty Jane Mosier Estrada and Melody Ann Mosier Harrison and her husband, Todd, all of Austin, TX; one step-son, Larry Fields and his wife, Demetris, of Glasgow; eight grandchildren, Tashia Elizabeth Escobar, Cody Richard Benjamin, Alexis Kayleigh Griffin, Emily Brooke Harrison, Chandler Court Harrison, Blake Micheal Harrison, Michael Edward Fields and Shelly Bow Smith; one great-grandchild, Allie Marie Anderson; three brothers, Boyd Mosier and wife, Versie, of Summer Shade, Gene Mosier and wife, Sue, of Knob Lick, Larry Mosier and wife, Judy, of Summer Shade; one sister, Eloise Lynn of Summer Shade; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ella Mae Parrish and two brothers-in-law, Curt Parrish and Eugene Lynn.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Dora Elsie Norris

September 6, 1901 - October 6, 2002

Dora Elsie Norris, 101, formerly of Barren County, died Monday in Indianapolis. A daughter of the late Miles and Ollie Watson, she was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Vernon Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Lorene Spradlin and her husband, Homer, of Indianapolis; a daughter-in-law, Grace Norris of New Castle, IN.; two grandchildren, Lisa Blight and her husband, Chris, and Sondra Jo Harris all of Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Wendy Marie Blight, Matthew Harris and his wife, Pam, and Lana Harris; four great-great grandchildren, Tasha, Mariah, Gwen and Allison Lindsey Harris.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Henry Norris and one son, Miles Allen Norris.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Refuge cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Thursday at the funeral home.

Philip Byron Poynter

February 18, 1950 -February 22, 2001

Philip Byron Poynter, 51, formerly of Glasgow, died Thursday in Bowling Green. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Elmer E. and Cornelia Williams Poynter. He was an automobile salesman, having worked for Gillie Hyde Ford in Glasgow and Greenwood Ford in Bowling Green. He was a member of the Jaycees and an avid sportsman. He had coached Little League for 11 years and was a member of the Coral Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Katherine “Jennie” Poynter; twin daughters, March and Sarah Poynter both of Bowling Green; one brother, Rondel Poynter and his wife, Nancy of Glasgow; one sister, Sandra Spillman and her husband, Tommy of Paducah; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Saturday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Coral Hill Baptist Church.

Martha Jo McCoy

August 15, 1914 - December 4, 2003

Martha Jo Melton McCoy, 89 of Glasgow, died Thursday, December 4, 2003 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital . She was the daughter of the late Sam Melton and Earlie Guthire Melton. She was a member of the Columbia Avenue Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband: Lewis G. McCoy; one son: Billy Jo Melton of Cumberland County; four sisters: Loretta Slaughter of Cumberland County, Emogene Melton of Glasgow, Lois Melton of Cumberland County and Inaree Capps of Cumberland County; nineteen nieces and nephews including Patrick Melton and Angela Hoffman. She was preceded in death by two brothers: Roy and Norman Melton.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens . Visitation will be after 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Gary T. Kinslow

July 3, 1958 - October 17, 2004

Gary T. Kinslow, 46, Griderville, died Sunday, October 17, 2004, in Bowling Green . Born in Louisville, he was a son of Gus Kinslow and Jeanette Anderson Gardner. He was a fork lift operator at SKF in Glasgow and a veteran with the United States Marines.

Along with his parents, he is survived by one brother, Greg Kinslow and his wife, Rebecca, of Hiseville; two sisters, Tammy Susan Kinslow of New Albany, IN, and Carla Jean Kinslow of Houston, TX; one nephew, Sam Kinslow; one niece, Emily Kinslow; five aunts, Frankie Peden and husband, Rollin, Nell Houchens and husband, Ruel, Margaret Crain and husband, Oscar, Betty Staples and husband, Kenneth, and Hazel Earls; five uncles, Charles Kinslow and wife, Ella, Roy Kinslow and wife, Margie, Leslie Kinslow and wife, Wanda, Benny Anderson and wife Ruby, and Garnet Anderson and wife, Cinda; several cousins.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Patty Steen Marsh

November 3, 1924 - October 14, 2003

Patty Steen Marsh, 78, Glasgow, died Tuesday, October 14, 2003, at the NHC Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was a homemaker and a member of the Hiseville Christian Church. She had been a resident at NHC for the past 34 years. Her parents were the late J. P. “Pat” Steen and Willie Anderson Steen.

Survivors include three children, Jennifer Elrod (Frank) of Starkville, MS, Debra Miller of Denver, CO, and Sam Marsh II (Terri) of Kansas City, KS; two brothers, Joe Steen (Sara) of Louisville and Doug Steen (Joyce) of Glasgow; one sister, Sue Pedigo (Don) of Glasgow; one step-sister, Sue Calvert (Cecil) of Scottsville; two grandchildren, Andrea Elrod and Sam Marsh III; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Anita Gentry; a brother-in-law, James Gentry; a step-brother, Aaron Turner and her step-mothers, Christine Crawford Steen and Nellie Turner Steen.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2003, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
