Edna Meadows

November 13, 1933 - May 12, 2004

Edna Mae Agers Meadows, 70, Georgetown Lane, Glasgow, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at Jewish Hospital in Louisville . A daughter of the late John and Mamie Matthews Agers, she was a retired employee of Kentucky Connectors and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include three sons, Dale Meadows and his wife, Anna, Rodney Meadows and his wife, Linda, and Steve Meadows and his wife, Janie, all of Glasgow; two daughters, Sheila Wood and husband, Dennis, and Kathy Hawkins all of Glasgow; nine grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one aunt; one niece.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Ersie Froedge, and two brothers, Cecil Agers and Fred Agers.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Anna Kirby

May 12, 1906 - May 23, 2003

Anna H. Britt Kirby, 97, Glasgow, died Friday at the Barren County Health Care Center. A native of Barren County, she was a daughter of the late Oscar and Tiny Wyatt Britt. She was a homemaker, a volunteer with the American Red Cross during WW II and a member of the South Green Street Church of Christ.

Survivors include four daughters, Geneva Arlene Meade and husband, Bob, of Indiana, Bernice Knudson and husband, Dave, of Illinois, Geraldine K. Williams and husband, Jim, and Lula Belle Riddle and husband, Robert, all of Glasgow; one son, Kenneth N. Kirby of Indiana; one son-in-law, Paul Pickett of Illinois; 24 grandchildren, including Leslie Wilson and wife, Prytha, Teresa Honeycutt and husband, Wendell, Trent Riddle and wife, Donna, and Freda Wood and husband, Karl; several great-grandchildren, including Brent Wilson, Lesley Honeycutt, Trevor Riddle, Sasha Riddle and Ory Wood; two half-sisters, Evelyn Richey of Louisville and Janie McGuire of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Homer Kirby; one daughter, Glada Ann Pickett; four grandchildren; seven brothers and sisters, Lela Durham, Minnie Lee Emberton, Beckham Britt, Dolly Rean Goodman, Clara Steenbergen, Charlie Britt and Murrell Britt; one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 12 noon Monday at the funeral home.

Charlotte Bryant Leftwich

September 6, 1920 - September 5, 2002

Charlotte Bryant Leftwich, 81, Glasgow, died Thursday at the Barren County Health Care Center. Born in Hiseville, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Banks Howard Bryant. A 1937 graduate of Glasgow High School, she was a secretary until her retirement in 1983. She returned to Glasgow from Tucson, AZ in 1983 after residing there for 25 years and was a member of the Broadway Christian Church. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Glasgow where she served an Elder. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Robert Leftwich.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Russell Bryant Leftwich of Nashville; one daughter, Elaine Wade and her husband, Mike, of Glasgow; one brother, Dr. William H. Bryant and his wife, Dorothy, of Glasgow; one brother-in-law, Rondyl Leftwich and his wife, Ann; two sisters-in-law, Geniece Marcum and Eugenia Martin; four grandchildren, Matthew and Mary Leftwich of Nashville, J.R. and Allen Wade of Glasgow.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Christian Church.

Pluma Pace

Pluma Del Owens Pace, 93, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at home in Nashville, Tn.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Roy Jewell Pace. Mr. Pace was manager of the A&P Grocery Store in Glasgow for 32 years. Other survivors include three children: Bonny Logan and husband Paul (Nashville, Tn.), Mike Pace and wife Donna (Lebanon, Tn.), and Karen Nunn (Glasgow); seven grandchildren: Lesli Claiborne, Paul Logan II, Jeff Nunn, Chris Logan, Brandon Pace, Bo Logan and Will Nunn; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Mitchell Owens and wife Diane (Guthrie, Ok.). She is also survived locally by two sisters-in-law, Lois Norman and Marie Pace; and four brothers-in-law, Harold, James, Louis and Noble Pace, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Thursday and also on Friday until time of the service at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with burial to follow in the cemetery at Neal's Chapel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Willowbrook Hospice Inc., 1164 Columbia Ave., Franklin, TN 37064.

Robert Henry Philpott

January 10, 1949 - January 19, 2009

Robert Henry Philpott, 60, Upton, died Monday, January 19, 2009, at his residence. A son of the late Floyd and Effie Denton Philpott, he was a former automotive detailer.

Survivors include his wife, Mable Sue Philpott; two daughters, Michelle Brown of Buffalo and Tammy Ash of Texas; one son, Robbie Philpott of Upton; one brother, Danny Philpott; three sisters, Mildrene Childress, Donna Paull and Lisa Philpott; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial at Monroe. Friends may call after 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Joseph Allen Reece

December 30, 1940 - July 26, 2008

Joseph Allen “Jodie” Reece, 67 of Savoyard, died Saturday, July 26th, 2008 at his residence after an extended illness. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandpa, son and brother. He was the son of the late Paul Vernon and Mary Lucille Reece and a member of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years Betty Bushong Reece; two sons: Ricky Reece and his wife Vickie of Glasgow and John Reece of Glasgow; two daughters: Beverly Fields and her husband Mitchell of Savoyard and Kimberly Railey and her husband Thomas of Glasgow; four grandchildren: Scott Morgan and his wife Nita, Tasha Wilson and Jerry D. Pippin, Christopher and Megan Railey who will miss their “Poppie” greatly. Four great-grandchildren: Isaiah Morgan, Jeremiah Morgan, Adam Morgan and Jamison Pippin; three sisters: Ann and (John) Bishop, Sue and (Flevel) Davis and Virginia Craine; two brothers: Larry Reece and Bobby Reece. Many nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son Joe Allen Reece and a grandson James Howard Wilson and a great-granddaughter Cheyenne Lynn Morgan.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Roger Poynter officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill cemetery at Randolph. Friends may call after 12 noon Monday at the funeral home.

James Taylor Jessie

January 10, 1926 - March 6, 2002

James Jessie age 76 of the Iron Mountain Road, Park City, died Wednesday, March 6, 2002 at his residence. He was the son of the late Jefferson and Pearl Garrett Jessie. He was a retired machine operator for SKF, a WW II Navy Veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife Melba Zodell Jessie.

He is survived by two daughters: Connie Jessie of Park City and Peggy Hagan and her husband Jimmy of Glasgow. Two Grandchildren: Amy Reynolds and her husband Matthew of Park City. Christopher Hagan of Glasgow. A special friend: Deanna Johnson of Glasgow.

Funeral will be 11:00 AM Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Barnes cemetery in Adair County. Friends may call at the Funeral Home after 10:00 AM Friday.

Lena Lillian Crumpton Oliver

June 4, 1923 - February 23, 2003

Lena Lillian Crumpton Oliver, 80, of Merry Oaks Road died Sunday, February 23, 2003 at the Hart County Health Care Center in Horse Cave, KY. She was the daughter of the late Bryant Crumpton and Ruby Keith Crumpton.

She is survived by one son: Roy (Bill) Pullen and his wife Elizabeth of Cave City; four grandchildren: William J. Pullen, Steven H. Pullen, Teresa A. griffin and Laura L. Merry all of the Indianapolis, IN area; seven great-grandchildren: William J. Pullen, Tammy Pullen, Stephanie Pullen Nasby, Brittany Pullen, Breanna and Hanna Griffin and Joycie Merry; one great-great grandson: Carter Griffin Bogden; two brothers: Cecil Crumpton and his wife Loretta of Coal’s Ben and William Crumpton and his wife Shirley of Cave City; one sister-in-law Dean Crumpton of Coal’s Bin. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe Oliver and her brother Roy Garnet Crumpton

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Shilo cemetery. Friends may call after 6:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Elavesta Martin

June 22, 1910 - September 22, 2005

Elavesta Harlow Martin, 95, Glasgow, died Thursday, September 22, 2005, at Runell’s Family Care Center. A daughter of the late T. H. and Ova Green Harlow, she was a retired seamstress at Handmacher Fashions in Glasgow. She was a member of the Homemakers Club and the Siloam Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Eldora Harlow of Glasgow and Jean Kidd of Louisville; one brother, Garland Harlow of Elizabethtown; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ish Martin; one sister, Maudie Ree Houchens; three brothers, Wendell Harlow, Vincent Harlow and Roy Harlow.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, September 24, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Roger G. Jackman

September 16, 1920 - September 11, 2008

Roger G. Jackman, 87, Glasgow, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, he was a son of the late Guy and Bettie Price Jackman. A life-long farmer, Mr. Jackman was a member of the Barren County Cattlemen’s Assn., Barren County Farm Bureau and the Mt. Tabor Baptist Church. He was a veteran of WW II, having served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie Jewell; one daughter, Beth Jackman Holland and her husband, Dr. Richard Holland, of Greensboro, NC; two grandchildren, Adrienne Holland and Jack Holland of Greensboro; four nephews, Dr. Ben Boone and Dr. David Boone of Dallas, TX, Mark Boone and John Boone of Atlanta, GA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Jackman of Glasgow, and one sister, Lucille Boone of Louisville.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Rev. C. G. Morrison officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Glasgow Chapter 20 DAV will be in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 Saturday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
