Rodney Lee "Brass" Mills

August 05, 1941 - May 08, 2005

Rodney Lee “Brass” Mills, 63 of Hiseville died Sunday, May 08, 2005 at his residence. He was the son of the late Arthur Lee mills and Hazel Jewell Ball Mills and an employee of Green River Water Company.

He is survived by one brother: William Nathan “Billy” Mills of Hiseville; four nieces: Tonya Bright of Camner, Shellye Russell of Horse Cave, Wendy Gibson of Edmonton and Brandy Mills of Center; three great-nephews: Justin Bryant, Colin Edwards and Mason Edwards; three great-nieces: Brittany Bryant, Lindsey Thomas, Whitley Gibson.

He was preceded in death by one sister Shirley Mills Owens and one niece Rhonda Owens Thomas.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Naomi Lougene Powell

August 1, 1930 - June 15, 2001

Naomi Lougene Powell, 70, formerly of Glasgow, passed away Friday in Charleston, West Virginia. The Barren County native was a daughter of the late Luther and Vera Moore Kidd. She was a retired employee of T.J. Samson Community Hospital, having worked in Medical Records and a member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Tabor and her husband, William of Dyer, IN, Pamela Steele and her significant other, Jeffery Boards of Indianapolis, Penny Elsea and her husband, Randy of Charleston; five grandchildren, Ayrick Steele, Matthew Tabor, Katie Tabor, Amariah Elsea and Andrew Elsea; two brothers, Malra Kidd of Glasgow and Oakley Kidd of Cisco, TX; two sisters, Gladys Thompson of Henderson, KY and Wilma Jo Trujillo of Millington, TN; two aunts, Virgie Edwards and Mary Kidd; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Ellen Powell and one brother, Everett Kidd.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Lois Jean Poynter

March 11, 1935 - February 23, 2006

Lois Jean Poynter, 70, Glasgow, died Thursday, February 23, 2006, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Mrs. Poynter was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Craine and husband, Ronnie, of Park City, Pauletta Casteel and husband, Eddie, and Donna Birge and husband, Kevin, all of Temple Hill; one step-son, Dale Poynter and wife, Georgia, of Indiana; five brothers, Orville Vibbert, Jr. of Haywood, Faye Vibbert and wife, Carrol, and Bobby Vibbert all of Fountain Run, Quenton Vibbert and wife, Peggy, of Smiths Grove, Ralph Vibbert and wife, Robin, of Dry Fork; one sister, Elvie Coulter of Glasgow; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Roger Walden and Roger Poynter; two sons, Ronnie and Donnie Walden; her parents, Orville and Laurie Vibbert; one brother, Charles Wendell Vibbert.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Cecil Wayne Reece

February 12, 1930 - January 19, 2005

Cecil Wayne Reece, 74, Hiseville, died Wednesday, January 19, 2005, at his residence. A son of the late Leonard and Annie Simmons Reece, he was a farmer, a farm implement dealer and a tire dealer. He was a long-time member of the Big Meadow Baptist Church and a member of the Hiseville Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Reece; two daughters, Vicki Woodward and husband, Bud, and Pam Goode and husband, Billy, all of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Bradley Goode and wife, Alicia, Andy Woodward, Brandon Goode and Kristina Goode; three great-grandchildren, Alizabeth Cole, Max Goode and Brianna Goode; two sisters, Frances Means and husband, Joe, of Hoopeston, IL, Joyce Woehlert and husband, Larry, of Avon Park, FL; one brother, Goebel Reece of Indianapolis; special friends, Marcella (Gordon) Morrison and Inez Morrison of Hiseville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Bernice and Malcolm Reece and one sister-in-law, Berniece Reece.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2005, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or T. J. Samson Hospice.

Dale G. Rigdon

May 15, 1930 - March 24, 2001

Dale G. Rigdon, 70, Glasgow died Saturday, March 24, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Hart County, he was a son of the late Virgil A. Rigdon and Laura Doyel Rigdon. He was a deacon of the Grider Memorial Baptist Church, a printer at The Print Shop, leader of the 4-H Horse and Pony Club for 37 years and a National Appaloosa Horse Judge.

Survivors include his wife Frances Rigdon; one daughter, Judy Tarter and her husband, Johnny of Smiths Grove, KY; one granddaughter; Amy Tarter of Smiths Grove; one brother, Huston Rigdon of Cave City, KY; two sisters, Lorene Smith of Attica, IN and Christine Grimes of Lexington, NC.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Cave City cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Barren County 4-H, c/o Paula Tarry, 936 Happy Valley Road, Glasgow, KY 42141.

Mary Lou Lawson

June 8, 1915 - February 5, 2007

Mary Lou Lawson, 91, Glasgow, died Monday, February 05, 2007, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. Born in Metcalfe County, she was the daughter of the late Louis Oliver and Hadie Lemmons Oliver and a member of the Coral Hill Church of God.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Lou Ella Lewis of Glasgow, Shirley Pierce and husband, Donald, and Goldie Nichols all of Bowling Green; one son, Junior Lawson and wife, Donna, of Glasgow; 3 sisters, Lois Riley, Katherine Wood and Pearl Jennings all of Glasgow; one brother, Marion Oliver of Frankfort; 19 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Lawson, and a grandson, Johnny Pierce.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2007, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

David Allen Kessinger

1954-2001

David Allen Kessinger age 46 of the Oil City Road, Glasgow died Today (Monday) at this residence. He was the son of William Clinton Kessinger and Mary Evelyn Davis Kessinger who survive. He was a machine operator at Dana Corp and a member of the Bethel Independent Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a Brother: Scotty Kessinger.

Besides his parents He is survived by a Son: Travis Kessinger of Glasgow. Two sisters: Sharon Kimbrough of Bowling Green and Becky Bushong of Lucas. One Niece: Scotty Danyell Crews. Two Nephews: Willie Albany and Clint Bushong.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5:00 P.M. Tuesday.

Jewell Garnett Lowery

April 29, 1938 - October 19, 2001

Jewell Garnett Lowery, 63, of Glasgow died Friday, October 19, 2001 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Lois Lowery and Anna Bacon Lowery. He was retired for Farmers Rural Electric where he had worked for 40+ years. He was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Deloris Gosser Lowery; Two daughters: Darlene Turner and her husband Clyde of Glasgow and Charlotte Wilson and her husband Tracy of Edmonton; One grandson: Tanner Wilson of Edmonton; One nephew: Charlie Lowery of Glasgow. He was preceded in death by one brother Gary Lowery.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Billy Mills

April 6, 1944 - March 26, 2008

William N. “Billy” Mills, 63, Hiseville, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at his residence. A son of the late Hazel Jewell Ball and Arthur Lee Mills, he was a retired farm laborer and a member of the Rock Spring Baptist Church.

Survivors include four daughters, Tonya Bright (J. D.) of Canmer, Shellye Russell (Randy) of Horse Cave, Wendy Gibson (Stevie) of Edmonton, and Brandy Brown of Center; 6 grandchildren, Brittany Bryant, Justin Bryant, Mason Shirley, Colin Edwards, Emma Brown and Whitley Gibson; two step-grandchildren, Neil Bright and Taylor Bright; one brother-in-law, Rondel Owens of Hiseville; one great-niece, Lindsey Thomas of Hiseville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Rodney Mills; one sister, Shirley Mills Owens; and one niece, Rhonda Owens Thomas.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29, 2008, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Donald William Morgan

January 13, 1926 - July 11, 2004

Donald William Morgan, 78, of Glasgow, died Sunday, July 11, 2004 at the T. H. Samson Community Hospital . He was the son of the late Virgil Newton Morgan and Pansy Lucille Nichols and a navy veteran of WWII.

He is survived by his wife Violet E. Morgan; two daughters: Joyce Morgan Underwood and her husband of Columbus, IN and Mary Morgan Christensen and her husband of Glasgow; one son: Donnie Morgan and his wife Sue of Columbus, IN; one step-daughter: Shirley Rhoton and her husband Eddie of Glasgow; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; one brother: Richard “Buck” Morgan of Glasgow; four sisters: Helen Hagan of Hartford City, IN, Loretta Jenkins of Hartford City, IN, Earlene Speidel of Hartford City, IN and Laure Mae Lyons of Glasgow.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Bowles cemetery . DAV chapter 20 will provide military honors at the cemetery. Visitation will be after 11:00 A. M. Monday at the funeral home.

Bessie B. Matthews

April 2, 1916 - May 22, 2002

Bessie Beam Matthews, 86, Glasgow, died Wednesday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Allen County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Rena Tabor Beam. A retired factory worker, she had been very active with the Senior Citizens Club and “The Girls’ Friday Rook Club”. The widow of the late B. F. Matthews, she was a member of the Glenview Christian Church.

Survivors include five children, Nancy Richardson and her husband, Sam, of Glasgow, John Matthews and his wife, Gail, of Alvaton, Billy Matthews and his wife, Carolyn, of Glasgow, Tommy Matthews and his wife, Linda, of Hiseville and Madonna Young and her husband, Mike, of Etoile; twelve grandchildren, Ellen Sullivan, Kevin Richardson, Jack Matthews, Ben Matthews, Will Matthews, Melissa Russell, Mark Matthews, Melanie Patterson, Bo Matthews, Todd Matthews, Tara Young and Patrick Young; one sister-in-law, Margarette M. Alexander of Glasgow; one brother-in-law, John T. Matthews of Cave City; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, William R. Beam.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society, Josh’s Friends or a charity of your choice.
