Nannie Gertrude Spradlin

September 6, 1909 - April 20, 2002

Nannie Gertrude Spradlin age 92 of the Bishop Road Glasgow died Saturday at the Britthaven Nursing facility in Bowling Green. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Myrtie Clark Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Beech Grove Baptist Church. She was the wife of the late Charlie Leo Spradlin and the Mother of the late Glenn Spadlin.

She is survived by two sons: Donald Spradlin and Russell Spradlin both of Glasgow. Six Grandchildren and eleven Great Grandchildren. Three sisters: Martha Potts of Campbellsville Mollie Estes of Ill. And Mae Demumbrum of Ill..

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 5:00 PM Monday.

Lester Byron "Joe" Tanner

December 30, 1943 - April 12, 2003

Lester Byron “Joe” Tanner, 59 of Jackson, TN., died Saturday, April 12, 2003 in Jackson, TN. He was the son of the late Lester and Edith Dillard Tanner and a Veteran of the Vietnam War.

He is survived by his wife Stephanie Tanner; three sons: Joey Tanner of California, Jeff Tanner of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Jimmy Tanner of Illinois; one daughter: Lisa Doan of Hot Springs Arkansas; one grand aughter: Tessa; one brother: Maurice Tanner of Hot Springs, Arkansas; four sisters: Rose Mary Shankle of Jackson, Tennessee, Lillian Glasier of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Carol Porter and Margaret Phifer both of Malvern, Arkansas.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:30 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Everett Smith

April 29, 1939 - April 9, 2006

Everett Eugene “Eddie” Smith, 66, Fountain Run, died Sunday, April 9, 2006, at his residence. A son of the late Mable Hunt and Willie E. Smith, he was a retired farmer and a member of the Peters Creek Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Marie; three brothers, William Rex Smith of Louisville, Harold Ray Smith of Etoile and Carroll Leroy Smith of Fountain Run; three sisters, Margaret Helen Eaton of Louisville, Ruby Jean Gosnell of Glasgow and Kristie Diane Steenbergen of Fountain Run; four nieces, Donna Joy Duke, Diana Rene Smith, Karen Starr McClellan and Sharon Hope Kramer; three nephews, Ricky Darrell Smith, Shaun Michael Steenbergen and Richard Eric Chenault.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Zelma Juanita Doolin and two nieces, Phyllis Lynn Eaton and Jackie Denise Borders.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Jean Parker Jolly Steele

October 7, 1933 - August 15, 2002

Dorothy Jean Parker Jolly Steele, 68, Glenview Drive, Glasgow, died Thursday at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Horace and Verda Ramey Parker. She was a graduate of the Hiseville High School and a retired employee in the housekeeping department of the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.

Survivors include her husband, Ray; three daughters, Linda Sue Jolly and Donna Jolly Wilkinson and her husband, Eddie, of Glasgow; Carolyn Jolly Vincent and her husband, Dwight, of Oakland; five sons, Freddie N. Jolly and his wife, Sandy, Phillip Jolly, William Jolly and his wife, Sheila, and Danny Jolly and his wife, Carol, all of Glasgow, Rick Jolly and his wife, Lana, of Russellville; one brother, Jack Parker of Glasgow; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Freddie Jolly; an infant son and three brothers, Clifton Parker, Willard Parker and Carroll Parker.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Parker cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

James Ray Stell

October 3, 1927 - April 5, 2003

James Ray Stell, 75, Glasgow, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at his residence. A native of Alabama, he was a son of the late Annie Gray and George Washington Stell. He was well known piano tuner and technician and a member of the Glasgow First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah; one son, Larry Stell of Glasgow; three daughters, Janet Shutters and husband, Tom, of New Albany, Janan Absher and husband, David, of Vine Grove, Tina Stell of Glasgow; four grandchildren, Deanna Newill and husband, Perri, David Absher, II, Melissa White and husband, Charlie, and James Absher; two great-grandchildren, Katie Absher and Perri Newill II; one brother, Billy L. Stell and wife, Eloise, of Alabaster, AL; one sister, Bonnie Pounders of Gardendale, AL; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2003, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Carrie Murrel Shaw

August 28, 1932 - July 28, 2001

Carrie Murrel Shaw, 68, Glasgow, died Saturday at her residence. She was a daughter of the late Joseph Edward and Minnie Mae Wilson Sexton and the widow of the late Fred Shaw. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rolling Hills Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Coomer and Michael Coomer and his wife, Paula all of Glasgow; one sister, Christine Clemmons of Justice, IL.; four brothers, Harbert Sexton of Justice, IL., Eugene Sexton of Glasgow, Thurman Sexton and Freeman Sexton both of Edmonton; a step-brother, Paul Shirley of Louisville; several nieces and nephews. A sister, Lena Wilson, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Marcelle Crenshaw Shaw

August 8, 1937 - December 2, 2002

Marcelle Shaw age 65, of Hiseville died Monday, at the Rockcastle Hospital in Mount Vernon, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Reed and Bessie Hayes Crenshaw. She was a homemaker and a member of the Coral Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by One Son: Charles Shaw and his wife Glenda of Hiseville, Four Daughters: Delores Mills and her husband Joie of Hiseville, Rebecca Hansel of Hiseville, Linda Shaw and J. R. Rock of Green County and Michelle Wheeler and her husband James of Hiseville. Seven Grandchildren: Jo Jo Mills and his wife Sami, Kelly Holden, Dawn Holden and Todd Bazemore, Heather Rock, C. J. Rock, Natasha Wheeler, Mike Bragg and Amanda Bragg. Three Great Grandchildren: Tyler Bazemore, Dakota Clark and McKay Bragg. Two Brothers: James and Charles Crenshaw both of Metcalf County. Six Sisters: Margaret Edlin of Florida, Edna Tidwell of Alabama, Lillie Casteel of Louisville, Katie Hagan of Glasgow, Dora Ann Crenshaw and Ora Lee Honeycutt both of Hiseville.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Shaw and Two Brothers: Clay and Allie Crenshaw.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home after 11:00 A. M. Tuesday.

Challman L. Sexton

February 2, 1928 - April 16, 2002

Challman L. Sexton, 74, Peterson Road, Cave City died Monday, April 15, 2002 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. He was the son of the late Oscar Sexton and Lilly Morgan Sexton. He was retired from Southern Explosive and a member of Prices Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Vada Garmon Sexton; Two Sons: Daryl Sexton and his wife Wanda of Prestonsburg, KY and Jerry Sexton and his wife Darlene of Cave City; Two Daughters: Dianne Gaines and her husband Douglas of Glasgow and Elaine Thompson and her husband Brett of Legrande, KY; Ten Grandchildren: Cassandra Honeycutt, LeAnna Newsome, Matthew Sexton, Tabatha Pippin, Adam Gaines, Karli Gaines, Aaron Thompson, Andy Thompson, Kati Thompson and Gary Green; Five Great-Grandchildren: Patrick Johnson, Derek Newsome, Austin Honeycutt, Aleigha Honeycutt and Jacob Pippin; Three Brothers: Ollis Sexton of Edmonton, Kenneth Sexton of Edmonton and Benny Sexton of Columbia; Two Sisters: Inis Shirley of Glasgow and Clara Bragg of Wisdom; Several nieces and nephews. preceded in death by One Son: Harold Wayne Sexton; Two Grandsons: Phillip Daryl, Jr. Sexton and Steven Johnson.

Funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Michael Lynn Vaughn

March 22, 1965 - August 16, 2004

Michael Lynn Vaughn, 39, Glasgow , died Monday, August 16, 2004 , at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville. A native of Barren County , he was a son of the late James Luther and Jewell Dean Chapman Vaughn. He was formerly assistant manager of the lumber yard at Lowe’s of Glasgow and a member of the Grider Memorial Baptist Church .

Survivors include three daughters, Stefany Jane Vaughn, Kassie Mona’ Vaughn and Brittany Ann Vaughn all of Glasgow ; five brothers, James Vaughn, Luther Vaughn, Larry Vaughn and Gary Vaughn all of Glasgow, Willie Vaughn of Campbellsville; one sister, Beatrice Hill of Glasgow; special friend, Nancy Fox of Glasgow ; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Brenda Ann Vaughn.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Delcenia Stockton

December 25, 1917 - September 6, 2003

Delcenia Stockton, 85, Glasgow, died Saturday, September 6, 2003, at her residence. A daughter of the late Minnie and John Boles, she was a domestic housekeeper, a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and Vice-President of the Gleaners Club at First Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late James Herman Stockton.

Survivors include four daughters, Mary Frances Stone, Helen Stockton, Pearl Webb and Phyllis Brummer; five sons, Paul Stockton, Charles Stockton, James Stockton, Robert Stockton and Tony Stockton; four sisters, Minnie Smiley, Marilyn Smiley, Nora Lee Bailey and Pauline Duvall; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with burial in the Barlow cemetery. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home and after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Dorothy Stogdill

Dorothy Marie Mathews Stogdill, 64, St. Peters , Missouri , passed away Monday, December 1, 2003 , at St. Joseph ’s West Hospital in Lake St. Louis . She was a graduate of Glasgow High School and Eastern Kentucky State College. She was a former secretary at Glasgow High School , a former teacher at Hazelwood Junior High School in New Albany , Indiana and was employed by Data Page in St. Peters until her illness forced her to retire this year. She was a member of the St. Louis Community Church in Chesterfield , Missouri .

She was preceded in death by her father, Emmett Mathews and a nephew, Jody Green, both of Glasgow .

She is survived by her mother, Irene Smith of Louisville, KY; two children, Terry Stogdill (Tina) of St. Peters, with whom she resided, and Toni Glamann (Jim) of Washington, MO; four granddaughters, Alyssa and Emily Stogdill and Shayla and Noel Glamann; two sisters, Lois Bowles (Jim) of Mt. Washington, KY and Linda Green (Joe) of Louisville, KY; one nephew and one niece.

According to her wishes, she was an organ donor and the body was cremated.

Memorial services will be held 7:00 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2003 , at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Dorothy Stogdill Memorial Fund, c/o Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home, 801 North Race Street , Glasgow , KY 42141 .
