Augusta M. Skipworth

June 22, 1910 - December 29, 2001

Augusta M. Skipworth, 91, Glasgow, died Saturday at the Barren County Health Care Center. She was a retired seamstress at Handmacher in Glasgow, a member of the Barren River Rod & Gun Club and the Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club and the widow of the late Burnis N. Skipworth.

Survivors include one son, Fred Skipworth and his wife, Ruth of Hendersonville, TN; one grandson, Chris Skipworth of Hendersonville; three great-grandchildren, Emily, Dale and Trever Skipworth all of Hendersonville; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Fred Skipworth, Jr.

Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Sarah Beatrice Irwin Slinker

December 11, 1910 - April 30, 2005

Sarah Beatrice Irwin Slinker, 94, Big Meadow, died Saturday, April 30, 2005 at the Metcalfe County Nursing Home in Edmonton. She was the daughter of the late James Green Irwin and Dora Lee Schlinker Irwin, the wife of the late E. G. Slinker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.

She is survived by three sons: Durwood Slinker and his wife Emma, Stanley Slinker and his wife Betty and Clay Slinker and his wife Jeannie Carol all of Big Meadow; two daughters: Ruth Elliott of Louisville and Sarah Charlene Newman and her husband Charlie of Salt Lake City, Utah; one sister: Maxine Devore of Knob Lick; seventeen grandchildren: Pam Mayberry, Tina Hough, Glenn Elliott, Donna Slinker, Kevin Slinker, Kent Slinker, Todd Slinker, Lynn Harter, Jane Slinker, Timmy Slinker, Jennie Slinker, Christi Judd, Greg Slinker, Geoffrey Slinker, Deeann Slinker, Sarah Shenole Newman and Scott Newman.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 2, 2005 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Slinker Family cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Helen Thomas

October 17, 1918 - September 17, 2006

Helen Belle Huff Thomas, 87, of Glasgow, died Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the Metcalfe County Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Will Huff and Letha Patrick Huff. She was a member of the Brotherhood Freewill Baptist Church and retired from Handmacher.

She is survived by two daughters: Mary Glass and her husband George of Glasgow and Louise Evans and her husband Bill of Princeton, KY; six grandchildren: Ricky Meek, Diane McCawley, Paula Compton, Charles Meek, Teresa Kidd and Billy Evans; fourteen great- grandchildren; ten great- great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law: Dick Thomas of Glasgow.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Thomas; one great-granddaughter: Kimberly Meek; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Patterson officiating. Burial will be in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 noon on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Betty Jean Smith

November 12, 1940 - October 26, 2006

Betty Jean Smith, 65 of Glasgow, died Thursday, October 26, 2006 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Powell Morgan and Effie Rich Morgan.

She is survived by three sons: Jeffery Huddleston, Loren Dale Huddleston and Terry Huddleston all of Glasgow; two daughters: Elizabeth “Liz” Huddleston and Rita Jessie and her fiancé Kenny Russell both of Glasgow; one brother: Leroy Morgan of Glasgow; one sister: Patricia Graham and her husband Wayne of Glasgow; six grandchildren: Heather Blankenship, Karly Jessie, Chad Morgan, Kenny Morgan, Carrie Lee Cash and Cara Springer; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl Smith; one son: Danny Wayne Morgan, two brothers: Bill Morgan and Robert Morgan; one sister: Mildred Lee.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Sunday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with Bro. John Shepard officiating. Burial will be in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

J. P. Staples

June 14, 1932 - May 3, 2004

J.P. Staples, 71, Arnett Grove Road , Glasgow , died suddenly Monday, May3, 2004. A son of the late Tom and Cora Shader Staples, he was a painter, farmer and avid sportsman. He was a member of the Barren River Rod and Gun Club and the Coral Hill Baptist Church .

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; three daughters, Faye Green and husband, Larry, Sue Elmore and husband, Mark, and Charmaine Staples all of Glasgow; three grandchildren, Traci Lynn Green, David Brock Elmore and John Austin Elmore; one brother, William Richard Staples and his wife, Thelma, of Glasgow; three sisters, Velma Smith, Frances Garner and her husband, Jimmy, and Doris Warf all of Glasgow; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Lee Groce.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2004, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Happy Valley Memorial Gardens. Friends may call after 12 noon Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mae Meek Thompson

1918 - 2008

Mae Meek Thompson, 90, of Glasgow, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital.

She is survived by her husband: James W. Thompson; one son: Bobby Forbis; one step-son: Richard Thompson; one sister: Christine Hopper; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Francis Pedigo and one grandson Perry Pedigo.

Funeral will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Lounell Ballard Smith

October 25, 1939 - March 15, 2002

Lounell Ballard Smith, 62, Blackwood Street, Glasgow, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. A daughter of the late Talbert and Lucille Garmon Ballard, she was a homemaker and a member of the East Fork Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Clifton B. Smith; two daughters, Nancy Lee Smith and Patricia Fay Smith both of Glasgow; five grandchildren, Chris Gentry, Daniel Gentry, Sarah Arms, Matt Arms and Amanda Burnett and her husband, Chad; one great-grandchild, Brittany Nicole Burnett; six brothers, Carlos Ballard of Glasgow, Jimmy Ballard and Joe Ballard of Bowling Green, Preston Ballard of Knob Lick, Robert Ballard of Kino and Herbert Ballard of Lamb; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Kay Smith; two sisters, Lucy Fields and Mary Ballard; and one brother, Garnett Ballard.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2002, at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Friends may call after 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Stephen Roland Salzman

July 30, 1943 - May 19, 2003

Stephen Roland Salzman, 59 of Horse Cave, died Monday, May 19, 2003 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Survivors include his wife: Barbara League Salzman; his parents: Roland Edward Salzman and Ruth Ellen Houseworth Salzman of Fort Worth, Texas; three children: Cindy Devore of Mt Washington, KY, Jay Spivey and Teri Lynn Pate of Illinois; two brothers: Bill and his wife Pam Salzmaon of Fort Worth, Texas and Scott Salzman of Illinois.

There will be a private memorial service. The service is under the direction of the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home.

Lisa Marie Harper Taylor

March 25, 1968 - February 7, 2004

Lisa Marie Taylor, 35, Bowling Green, died Saturday in Bowling Green. A native of Barren County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Delores Flowers Harper.

Survivors include three children, Whitley Taylor and Cameron Garmon of Glasgow, and Aubrey Wright of Tompkinsville; two brothers, Brian L. Harper of Bowling Green and Barry Harper of Glasgow. Several Aunts and Uncles.

Funeral will be 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal cemetery. Visitation will be after 3:30 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home.

Wilma Lou Thompson

May 7, 1941 - March 17, 2002

Wilma Lou Thompson, 60 of Hiseville died Sunday, March 17, 2002 at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Chester Mills and Pauline Parker Mills. She was a member of the Rock Springs Baptist Church and had recently been attending Calvary Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter: Angie Thompson Davis and her husband Craig of Hiseville; two grandchildren: Caleb and Bethany Davis; two brothers: Billy Joe Mills and his wife Ozella of Hiseville and Chestery Byron Mills and his wife Doris of Glasgow; two sisters: Joyce Humphrey and her husband Wendell of Center and Margie Pruitt of Glasgow; two sister-in-laws: Brenda Mills and Rose Mills; Several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Dave Thompson, three infant children and two brothers J. B. Mills and Howard Thomas Mills.

Funeral will be 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Hiseville cemetery. Visitation will be after 6:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.

Ira Wade Trejo

October 25, 2004

Ira Wade Trejo, the infant son of Juan and Elizabeth Ann Trejo of Park City, died Monday, October 25, 2004, at the T.J. Samson Community Hospital .

Along with his parents, he is survived his sister, Selena Ann Trejo, Grandmother, Love Winchester, of Park City, Five Aunts, Minnie Sue Smith, of Albany, Ky., Helen Estes, of Cave City, Donna Matamoros, Wanda Cross, both of Hiseville, Nina Vibbert, of Park City, Eleven uncles, Mikel Winchester, Danny Winchester, Leymon Winchester, Junior Winchester, Lonnie Winchester, Jessie Winchester, all of Hiseville, William Winchester, Lonus Winchester, Stoney Winchester, Bennie Winchester, all of Park City, Ricky Winchester, of Michigan and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ira Leslie Winchester.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October, 28, 2004, at the Evergreen cemetery, in Park City, Ky. Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home are in charge of the arrangements.
