Lou Nell Alexander, 51, of 818 Jackson St., Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at Riverside Manor Nursing Home in Calhoun. The Owensboro native was a member of 10th Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include her companion, Carlene Crite Sr. of Owensboro; a daughter, Clara Louise Crite of Owensboro; her mother, Clara Mae Alexander of Owensboro; two brothers, Donnie Alexander and Randall Alexander, both of Owensboro; a sister, Shirlene Simmons of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday at 10th Street Baptist Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Iron Ore Hill cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to 10th Street Baptist Church Soup Kitchen.

Angela Rose Ovington
(July 14, 1917 - November 13, 2011)

Angela Rose Ovington, 94, of Bowling Green died at 8:49 am, Sunday at her residence. The Louisville, Kentucky native was born July 14, 1917, a daughter of the late William and Lillian Thompson Rose. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ovington; one daughter, Debbie Rose Ovington, two sons, Joseph Lampe and William Lampe; three sisters, Martina Stokes, Virginia Johnmann and Susan Marker. Mrs. Ovington was a former waitress for the Brown Hotel Tea Shop, a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green and the Ministry of Praise Group.

She is survived by one daughter, Lillian "Barbara” and husband, Ed Parker of Bowling Green; four grandchildren, John and Amanda Lampe and Joseph and Stephen Parker. five great grandchildren, Andrew, Christian, Jessica, Emily and Meghan; several nieces and nephews. Visitation for Mrs. Ovington will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Monday, November 14, 2011 in the Pentecost Room at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Prayer services will be at 6:30 on Monday in the Pentecost Room. Additional visitation will be from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm, Tuesday, November 15, 2011 in the Pentecost Room at the church. Funeral Mass will be at 1:00 pm Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Graveside services will be on Wednesday at the Calvary cemetery in Louisville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Bowling Green.

Irene Caswell Miller
November 5, 1926 - March 5, 2015

Irene Caswell Miller, 88, of Bowling Green, Kentucky passed away March 5, 2015 in Nashville, TN. Mrs. Miller was born in Munfordville, Ky on November 5, 1926, daughter of the late Clarence and Maude Caswell. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tim Terry Miller and dear beloved friend, Hugh Hulsey. Mrs. Miller was an active member at both West Side United Methodist Church and Faith United Methodist Church. She was retired from the Bowling Green Independent School System as the cafeteria manager of Dishman McGinnis Elementary for 37 years. Mrs. Miller loved entertaining, traveling, music, and dance. Mrs. Miller is survived by her two daughters, Sheila Renfro of Lexington, KY and Kim Woodward (Eric) of Nolensville, TN; three grandchildren, Melissa Renfro-Brumley (Jessica) of Louisville, KY, Brad Renfro (Becky) of Bowling Green, KY, and Drake Woodward of Nolensville, TN; 1 great-granddaughter, Hannah Renfro and 1 great grandson, Jayden Renfro. Cousin Betty Jane McFarland of Elizabethtown, KY. Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitations will be from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Monday, March 9, 2015 and again from 9:00 am - 10:00 am Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home. Evelyn Baur

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Evelyn Baur, 78, of Tell City died there Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Oakwood Healthcare Campus. The Perry County, Ind., native retired in 1984 from General Electric Co. in Tell City after more than 30 years and enjoyed quilting, ceramics, gardening and animals, especially birds. Her husband, Victor Baur, died in 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Richard L. Baur and Michael N. Baur, both of Tell City, and Mark L. Baur of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and a brother, Floyd Alvey Jr. of Tell City.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Alzheimer's Association.

Betty Wilson Scott

MADISONVILLE -- Betty Wilson Scott, 67, of Madisonville, formerly of Calhoun, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at her home in Madisonville. The Webster County native was a homemaker and had retired from Colonial Terrace Nursing Home in Sebree. She was a member of Sebree First Baptist Church and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Gene Wilson, on March 20, 1991; a daughter, Judy Ann Henry, on July 2, 1991; and a stepdaughter, Linda Cates, on March 27, 1994.

Survivors include her husband, David Scott; a son, Larry Gene Wilson of Sebree; two daughters, Linda O'Nan of Sebree and Darlene Daniel of Henderson; four stepdaughters, Mary Brown and Sherry Bruce, both of Madisonville, Nelda Hopper of Lisman and Dana Hallum of Nortonville; seven grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Shelby Drake and Beulah Drake, both of Providence, and Lena Boles of Evansville; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Elba. Richard J. Blink
December 10, 1944 - March 5, 2015

Richard J. Blink, 70, of Bowling Green passed away on March 5, 2015 at his residence. Mr. Blink was born in Lansing, IL and was the son of the late John Richard Blink and Katie Vandrunen Blink. Mr. Blink was a member of Grace Community Church of Bowling Green and an Army veteran. He was a retired general contractor and the former owner of Western Kentucky Home Inspection Service. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 9, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held on Monday, March 9,2015 at 2:30 p.m. at Fairview cemetery. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Sunday, March 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Grace Community Church.

Charles E. 'Chuck' Sandefur
13 July 2001

FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- Charles E. "Chuck" Sandefur, 64, of Fort Pierce, formerly of Hammond, Ind., and Sebree, died there Sunday, July 8, 2001, from cancer. The Sebree native retired as owner of Sandefur Transport in Gary, Ind.

Survivors include his companion, Barbara Sandefur; two sons, Charles L. Sandefur of Griffith, Ind., and Brian Sandefur of Knoxville, Tenn.; five daughters, Audrey Gunnum of Hebron, Ind., and Debra Thornton and Laura Wheeler, both of Fort Pierce, Leisa Decker of St. John, Ind., and Ashley Sandefur of Whiting, Ind.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Curtis Sandefur and Wayne Sandefur, both of Hammond, Ind., and Don Sandefur of Greenville; and a sister, Norma Jean Dickinson of Madisonville, Tenn.

Services are at 11 a.m. today at Tompkins Funeral Home, Hanson chapel in Slaughters. Burial will be in Springdale cemetery in Sebree. Visitation is after 9 a.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a local Hospice organization.

Ruth J. Otterson, 70, of 1708 Lee Court, Owensboro, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Livia native retired from Clark Security Agency at the Indiana Michigan Power Plant and was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church. Her husband, Fred F. Otterson, died in 1974.

Survivors include a son, Robert Otterson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two sisters, Faye Butchart and Dorothy Sandy, both of Owensboro.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Rose Gray Lawson

CANNELTON, Ind. -- Rose Gray Lawson, 72, of Cannelton, formerly of Hawesville, died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Cannelton native was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Hawesville and of VFW Post 2939 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bingo and euchre. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Shadwick, in 1966; her second husband, Sherill Lawson, in 1983; and a son, Carl Shadwick, in 1991.

Survivors include four sons, Tom Shadwick of Decatur, Tenn., Cletus Shadwick of Lewisport, Charlie Shadwick of Hawesville and Michael Shadwick of Tucson, Ariz.; eight daughters, Delma McManaway, Barbara Laslie and Mary Jo Taylor, all of Hawesville, and Dorothy Reynolds and Ruth Greer, both of Tell City, Ind., Kay Haycraft of Lewisport, Becky Riley of Cannelton and Bessie Ramsey of Derby, Ind.; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a brother, Marian Gray of Tell City; four sisters, Martha Carpenter of Lincolnton, N.C., Mildred Riley of Lewisport, Shirley Perkins of Miami and Barbara Eganlauf of Pemberton, N.J.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Immaculate Conception Church in Hawesville. Burial will be in Serenity Hills in Hawesville. Jane Phalan Long
October 18, 1929 - March 5, 2015

Mrs. Jane Phalan Long, 85, of Bowling Green, died on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Greenwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the daughter of the late Robert Allen and Sarah Elizabeth Phalan. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Phalan Durham and two brothers, Robert Albin Phalan and James Edwin Phalan.

Mrs. Long was a homemaker, and an active member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School for 35 years, and sang in the church choir for many years. She was a member of the Johnnie Massey Clay Circle, as well as a Golden Patron Member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church Board of Missions.

Survivors include: her husband, Robert Clifton Long; a son, James Clifton Long (Marlene) of Bowling Green; two daughters, Brenda Jean Long Powell (David) of Franklin, TN and Patricia Dianne Long Harper (Doug) of Bowling Green; a brother, William Earl Phalan of Memphis, TN; four grandchildren, Robert Linsey Long of Bowling Green, James Christopher Long of Bowling Green, Jason Motter Powell of Chattanooga, TN, and Sarah Jane Powell of Maryville, TN; nine great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 9, 2015 at Bowling Green Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 11:00am with burial following at Fairview cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home from 3:00 - 7:00pm with another visitation on Monday at Bowling Green Cumberland Presbyterian Church from 10:00 - 11:00am.

Charlie Ewen Clark Jr.

WHEATCROFT -- Charlie Ewen Clark Jr., 76, of Wheatcroft died there Wednesday, July 11, 2001, at his niece's home from cancer. He was a Union Steward and a 53-year member and past master of Wheatcroft Masonic Lodge 881 Free and Accepted Masons. He was elder and treasurer of Cumberland Presbyterian Church and an Army veteran of the European theater of World War II.

Survivors include three brothers, William "Waldie" Clark of Clay, Wendell Clark of Wheatcroft and Freddie Clark of Dixon; a sister, Hilda Beckner of Wheatcroft; a niece, Sherree Mantooth of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Wheatcroft. Burial will be in Oddfellows cemetery in Clay. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Vanover Funeral Home in Clay and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Masonic services are at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Gerald Harris Frost
June 22, 1940 - March 2, 2015

Gerald Harris Frost, 74, of Bowling Green, formerly from Dade City, FL and Russellville, KY, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessee Raymond Frost and Elizabeth Cox Frost, his grandparents George W. and Flossie J. Cox, uncle Charles Cox and wife, Marjorie Ann Latson Frost.

Gerald graduated from Pasco High School in Dade City, FL and went on to get his BS Degree from Middle Georgia College and an MBA from Louisiana Tech University. As a young man, he served in the Navy as a Corpsman with the US Marines during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After his tour in the Navy, he would continue to serve his country in the Coast Guard, retiring as Lt. Commander in the Coast Guard Reserve. In his civilian career he leveraged his military leadership and discipline as a hospital administrator. He was also an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, Russellville, KY and a past member of Kiwanis as well as Chairman of Barren River Area Child Advocacy Center of Bowling Green, KY.

Gerald is survived by his wife Debra Frost, son Todd Frost (Kristie) of Arkansas, daughter Kimberly Frost Hopper (Warren) of Bowling Green, KY, son Mark Frost of Dallas, TX, grandchildren Joshua and Anna Tess of Little Rock, AR, Chloe Hopper of Bowling Green, KY, stepchildren Warren Hopper of Bowling Green, KY and Kimberly Hopper Fedderly (Kyle) of Whitefish, MT and brother-in-law William Latson (Wanda) of Jonesboro, GA.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Hodges Funeral Home in Dade City, FL with burial in the Floral Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Friday from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Hodges Funeral Home

HATFIELD, Ind. -- Clara "Jean" Everett, 83, of Hatfield died Thursday, July 19, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. The Mackey, Ind., native was a homemaker and member of Bethel Church in Hatfield. A daughter, Norma Stanley, died in 2000.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Roy Everett; a son, Charles Henry Benton of Evansville; a daughter, Geneva Fark of Evansville; a stepdaughter, Gayla Everett of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Arendell of Summerville, Ind.

Betty Ann Sweeney
July 6, 1934 - February 20, 2015

Betty Ann Sweeney, 80, of Bowling Green, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Bowling Green Medical Center. Mrs. Sweeney was born in Evansville, Indiana on July 6, 1934, a daughter of the late Wilbur Simon Kuhlenhoelter and Lillian Gerdis Kuhlenhoelter. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Sweeney and a son, James Albert Sweeney. She retired from Holley Performance after 41 years of service and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was a recipient of the Sophia Award for Outstanding Senior Citizen, a member of the Legion of Mary, a member of the Altar Society at St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a Eucharistic Minister. Survivors include one son, Gregory Sweeney (Alicia) of Smiths Grove, Kentucky; one daughter, Angela Brisendine (Jim Liskey) of Dover, Tennessee; one brother, Bill Kuhlenhoelter (Rosey) of Evansville, Indiana; six grandchildren, Jacob Sweeney of Oakland, Kentucky, Anthony Lockhart of Lexington, Kentucky, Johnathon Sweeney of Bowling Green, Casey Sweeney of Rockfield, Kentucky, Stacey Cole of Bowling Green and Daniel Scott Sweeney of Bowling Green; several great grandchildren Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00 am Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with burial in St. Joseph Catholic Church cemetery. CENTRAL CITY -- Thelma Mefford, 85, of Central City died Thursday, May 24, 2001, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville. The Muhlenberg County native was a homemaker and a member of Horton's Chapel Church of Christ in Belton.

Survivors include her husband, Odus Mefford; two sons, Eldon Reynolds of Russellville and Leymond Reynolds of Glasford, Ill.; three daughters, Virginia Cartwright of Belton, Dimple Stahl of Hammond, Ind., and Linda Stewart of Washington, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Gertrude Bohelski of New Jersey, Bertha Hott of Indianapolis and Glendean Gilmore of Oklahoma; and two half brothers, Eldon Pendley and Bennett Pendley, both of Rosewood.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Horton's Chapel cemetery in Belton. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Phyllis Ann Mahnke
February 17, 2015

Phyllis Ann Newman Mahnke, 66, of Rockfield, passed away February 17, 2015, in Russellville. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Robert Mahnke, her parents and a sister. Survivors include four children, Melissa Blythe (Chris) of Glasgow, Clinton Dean Mahnke of Louisville, Theresa Sherman (Craig) of Russellville, Jessica Mahnke Cherry of Auburn; six grandchildren, Shenee Blythe, Heaven Blythe, James Cherry , Jerrica Cherry, Joanna Cherry, Kyrstin Sherman; two brothers, Basil Newman and Donald Newman.

She is also survived by several friends and other family members. Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 noon on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home with burial in Fairview cemetery. Hugh Eugene Williams

CENTRAL CITY -- Hugh Eugene Williams, 82, of Evansville died Monday, July 2, 2001, at his home. The McLean County native worked for Evansville Association for the Blind for 31 years and was known as "Big Daddy" on citizens band radio.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Brummett Williams; a son, Harold Williams of Evansville; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bobby Williams and Ed Williams, both of Central City, and Steve Williams of Knoxville, Ark.; a sister, Helen Stirsman of Cincinnati; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Cherry Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Julian Vance Durbin
(July 14, 1921 - March 30, 2015)

Julian Vance Durbin, 93, of Bowling Green died Monday, March 30, 2015 after a brief illness. Mr. Durbin was born July 14, 1921 in Bowling Green, a son of the late Joseph Leslie and Lillie Vance Durbin and was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Betty Durbin; two brothers, Joseph Leo and Arthur Durbin; and three sisters, Patricia Nusz, Beatrice Matthews, and Irene Durbin. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and served in the Navy in the Pacific theater during World War II, where he was discharged as a Lieutenant, Sr. Grade. He was part owner of Durbin's Department Store, and also worked for Neely-Harwell and Company and the Kentucky Museum at Western Kentucky University. He was a past member of the Knights of Columbus, the St. Joseph Parochial School Board, The Elks Club, The Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, the Bowling Green Board of Zoning and Development, and the Downtown Merchants Association. Mr. Durbin is survived by nine children, Ellen Micheletti, Anne Powers (Bernie) of Owensboro, KY, Tom Durbin, David Durbin (Sandy) of Brentwood, TN, Susan Supinger (Larry) of Florence, KY, Clare Brinkley, Joan Durbin, Bob Durbin (Hollie), and Charlie Durbin; nineteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm Monday, April 6, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a lifetime member, followed by the rosary at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Entombment will be in the St. Joseph Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donation to St. Joseph's restoration fund. Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
