GROVE, Okla. -- Wavy Lincoln Faught, 72, of Grove died there Tuesday, May 8, 2001. The Owensboro native was a 31-year veteran of the Navy and Air Force and had served in the United States and overseas. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge and Elks Lodge in Grove. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Willadeyne Faught.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara J. Faught of San Diego; two sons, Michael J. Faught of San Diego and Thomas E. Faught of Temecula, Calif.; four daughters, Cindy G. Faught Sudan of Lafayette, Colo.; Mary Ellen Faught of Chula Vista, Calif., and Patricia J. Faught and Rebecca L. Faught, both of San Diego; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services with full military honors areat 11 a.m. PST today at Fort Rosecrans National cemetery in San Diego. Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Okla., is in charge of arrangements. Haskell E. Lane, Sr.

Haskell E. Lane, Sr., age 88 of Sweeden, passed away Friday, May 4, 2007 at his residence, the Metcalfe county native was born March 9, 1919 to the late Eugene Edward Lane and Alverta Asbury Lane and married to Nelda Wood Lane. He was a retired from the Air Force and served in World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He was a member of Washington Meredith Masonic Lodge # 355 F&AM, Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church and Nisbet Alexander Memorial Post # 6937 VFW.

He is survived by his wife Nelda Wood Lane of Sweeden, three grandaughters, Teresa L. Edmonds of Bowling Green, Virginia Lane of Newnan, GA and Melanie Sue Lane of Lexington and eight great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by one son, Haskell "Gene" Lane, Jr.. Services will be officiated by Bro. Essie Hayes with burial in the Sweeden Church cemetery.

Genive B. Meredith

Genive B. Meredith, age 95 of Brownsville, passed away Friday, March 2, 2007 at Edmonson Health Care Center. She was born October 1, 1911 in Edmonson County to the late William Basham and Cordelia Vincent Basham and married to the late Bradley Meredith. She was a housekeeper at Park Mammoth Hotel and a member of Bee Spring Missioanry Baptist Church.

She is survived by three daughter-in-laws, Maggie Meredith of Brownsville, Katherine Meredith of Land O Lakes, Fl. and Carolyn Meredith of Sweeden; Seventeen grandchildren, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by; three daughters, Irene Meredith, Inez Meredith and Nola Mae Vanmeter; three sons, Bradley, Larry Lee and Wayne Meredith. Burial will be in Bee Spring cemetery.

Byron Quinn "Bud" Slaughter, Sr.

Byron Quinn "Bud" Slaughter, Sr., age 87 of Mammoth Cave, passed away Sunday, March 4, 2007 at his residence. The Nolin native was born October 16, 1919 to the late James Wallace Slaughter and Myrtle Lora Watkins Slaughter and married to the late Dorothy " Dot" Slaughter. He was a retired District Sales Manager for B&O (Chessie System) Railroad, a methodist and a World War II Navy Veteran.

He is survived by one son, Byron Q. Slaughter, Jr. and wife Suzanne of New Albany, IN.; two daughters, Sue Anne Effertz of Overland Park, KS. and Deborah K. Marasa and husband Mike of Nashville, TN.; one brother, James W. "June" Slaughter of Hespero, CA; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Services will be officiated by Rev. Alvin Herron with military rites at Nolin Church cemetery.

George E. Young

George E. Young, 91, of 530 Yale Place, Owensboro, died Sunday, May 27, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native retired from American Tobacco Co. after 50 years, was a retired farmer and was a member of First Christian Church for more than 50 years. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was preceded in death by his wife, Beulah M. Young, on Feb. 3, 1998; and four children.

Survivors include two sons, George W. Young of Owensboro and Donald E. Young of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; a daughter, Carolyn Simpson of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Christian Church in Owensboro.

Raymond W. Hayes

Raymond W. Hayes, age 91 of Bee Spring, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Edmonson County native was born August 14, 1915 to the late William Hayes and Julia Metcalfe Hayes and married to the late Maxine Ashley Hayes. He was a World War II Navy veteran, a past member of Washington Meredith Masonic Lodge #355 F&AM and a member of Bee Spring Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Charles Hayes and wife Marilyn of Sweeden; one daughter, Peggy Priddy and husband Steve of Bee Spring; four grandchildren, Danny Hayes of Brownsville, Jeff Hayes of Louisville, Cindy Vincent of Marion, IL and Anna Leigh Powell of Hardinsburg; three great grandchildren, Chelsye and Justin Vincent of Marion,IL and Joshua Noah Powell of Hardinsburg. He was also preceded in death by one son, Alan Hayes. Services are being officiated by Bro. Jerry Patton with graveside military rites by Nisbet Alexander Memorial Post #6937 VFW.

Jackie Ott

Floy Jaquline "Jackie" Ott, age 78 of Brownsville, passed away Wednesday, March 7, 2007 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. The Lansing, MI native was born June 30, 1928 to the late Floyd VanVlerha and Gladys Griffin VanVlerha. She was a retired factory worker for Chrysler, a Baptist and a member of the UAW.

She is survived by her husband Newt Ott, one son, Brian Ott of Hubbardstown, MI; one sister, Shirley Jenner of Coral,MI; two grandchildren, Brian J. and Candy Ott; three great grandchildren, Christina, Michelle and Brandon Ott. She was also preceded in deathy by two brothers Fred and Chuck VanVlerha and a daughter-in-law Judy Ott. Services are being officiated by Rev. Cathy Porter.

Georgia Mae Lain

PHILPOT -- Georgia Mae Lain, 92, of Philpot died Sunday, May 20, 2001, at Hermitage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Owensboro. The Daviess County native was a homemaker and member of Friendship Baptist Church and Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and raising flowers. Her husband, Buel Lain, died Nov. 3, 1988.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Daniel of Owensboro; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Cancer Society, 319 W. 10th Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Murray Gross

Murray Gross, age 77 of Brownsville, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was born April 17, 1929 in Edmonson County. He was a retired truck driver for Scotty's and a member of Asphalt Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife Martha Butler Gross of Brownsville; two sons, Michael and Anthony Gross of Brownsville; three stepsons, Harold Butler of Brownsville, Timothy Howard of Brownsville and Tommy Butler and wife Ginger of Salem, IN; two brothers, Randolph Gross of Anderson, IN and William Gross of Brownsville; one sister, Laurene Stewart of Bardstown and one granddaughter, Latasha Butler. Services will be conducted by Bro. Mendell Parker with burial in the New LIberty cemetery.

Robert Ray Hagan
1 June 2001

PIONEER VILLAGE -- Robert Ray Hagan, 64, of Pioneer Village died Monday, May 21, 2001, at Norton Audubon Hospital in Louisville. The Owensboro native attended Walnut Street Baptist Church. He retired from the Navy in 1974 and had worked for the U.S. Government in Washington, D.C., for 20 years.

Survivors include two daughters, Joni Cosgrove and Stacie Marie Hagan of Menifee, Calif.; five grandchildren; a brother, Clifford Oldham Hagan; and two sisters, Beverly Karr and Betty Kurd.

Services were held May 25, 2001, at Walnut Street Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. EDT Wednesday in Arlington National cemetery in Arlington, Va. Commonwealth Funeral Home in Louisville is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Walnut Street Baptist Church Building Fund or Billy Graham Ministries.

Elmer E. Sanders

Elmer E. Sanders, age 77 of Mammoth Cave, passed away Thursday, February 28, 2007 at the Masonic Home in Louisville. He was born April 12, 1929 in Edmonson County. He was a retired engineer for General Electric in Louisville, a World War II Navy veteran, a member of Harmony Chapter # 273 O.E.S., Boaz Masonic Home Lodge #850 F&AM and Ollie United Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife Mossie Skaggs Sanders of Mammoth Cave; four sons, Cary R. Carter and wife Joanne, David E. Carter and wife Joline, Richard Sanders and wife Lana and Mark Sanders and wife Debbie all of Louisville; one daughter Karen "Rose" Simion and husband Ronnie of Louisville; four sisters, Clorine Demunbrum of Brownsville, Joyce Poteet of Mammoth Cave, Inez Hill of Henderson and Georgie Bell Childress of Mammoth Cave; thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by a son, Randall Sanders. Masonic services will be at 7:30pm Friday at funeral home and military rites will at Ollie cemetery by Nisbet Alexander Memorial Post # 0937 V.F.W.

Melinda Viola Souders

Melinda Viola Souders, age 50 of Brownsville, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007 at Commonwealth Regional Speciality Hospital in Bowling Green. She was born May 17, 1956 in Edmonson County to Paul Souders and the late Betty Lee Rutledge Lucas. She was a home health nurse and a member of Sweeden Missioanry Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Ellis Wayne Souders of Bowling Green, Harley Paul Milburn and wife Veronica of Orlando, FL and Branden Scott Souders of Brownsville; father, Paul Souders and wife Kathryn of Brownsville; one brother, James Theodore Souders of Louisville; one sister, Rose Marie Milburn of Louisville and one half sister, Patricia Ann Souders of North Carolina. Services will be officiated by Bro. Jerry Patton with burial in the Sweeden Church cemetery.

Michael L. Lindsey

LEWISPORT -- Michael L. Lindsey, 56, of Lewisport died Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Baldtown native was a water treatment operator for the city of Lewisport and a member of Lewisport United Methodist Church. He was a volunteer firefighter for Lewisport and was a member of Green River Firefighters Association, Kentucky Rural Water Association, Kentucky Gas Association and American Water Works Association.

Survivors include his wife, Phillis Lindsey; and two brothers, Thomas Lindsey of Owensboro and Lawrence Lindsey of Hawesville.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport. Burial will be in Lewisport cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Edward M. 'Rhubarb' Hubert

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Edward M. "Rhubarb" Hubert, 83, of Tell City died there Friday, May 18, 2001, at Beverly Healthcare. The Apalona, Ind., native retired from General Electric in Tell City after 24 years of service. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a trustee for the Perry (Ind.) County Conservation Club. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and attending auctions. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Gehlhausen Hubert; a son, Mark Hubert; and two daughters, Helen Hubert and Frances Hubert.

Survivors include six sons, Maurice Hubert, Anthony Hubert, Mike Hubert, Randy Hubert and Ronnie Hubert, all of Tell City, and Charles Hubert of Owensboro; five daughters, Ida Holtzman of Tell City, Margaret Dunn of St. Peters, Mo., Eileen Crow of Evansville, Alvina Poehlein of Derby, Ind., and Marietta Walker of Emma, Ill.; 28 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Leslie Hubert of Tell City.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold, Ind. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 10:15 a.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home in Tell City. Prayers will be said at 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Paul Catholic Church or St. Augustine Catholic Church.

Eugene Brooks

Eugene Brooks, 60, of Salem, Indiana passed away Monday, December 4, 2006 at Floyd Memorial Hospital. He was born July 30, 1946 to the late Osie and Edna Meredith Brooks and husband of Mary Beckett Brooks. He was retired from General Electric in Louisville, a member of UAW Local #761 and Mt. Hebron Church of Christ. He is survuved by his wife Mary Beckett Brooks of Salem, one son, Tim Brooks of Salem; one daughter, Tammy Rippy of Salem; two brothers, Reuben Brooks of Brownsville and Junior Brooks of Lindseyville; three sisters, Daisy Nich and Faye Minton of Salem and Mary Gillman of Ohio; three grandchildren. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by; four brothers, Alvie, Albert, Doug and Dottie Brooks and one sister Mary Newman.

Terena Lane Vincent

Terena Lane Vincent, 43, of Bee Spring passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2006 at Greenview regional Hospital in Bowling Green. She was born May 27, 1963 in Bowling Green to James L. and Serena Browning Vincent. She was a home health professional for Lifeline, a teaching assistant for Southern Kentucky Community Action and a member of Midway United Missionary Baptist Church.

She is also survived by one daughter Kolbie Ann Vincent of Bee Spring; a brother Lyle E. Vincent of Bee Spring; a maternal grandmother Margie Browning of Chalybeate and a paternal grandmother Frances Vincent of Brownsville. Graveside services will be conducted by Bro. Bruce Browning with burial in the Brownsville cemetery.

Edith Thompson

Mary Edith Thompson, age 89 of Park City, passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007 at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. The Cumberland county native was born July 8, 1917 to the late Barton and Alta Davis Philpott and wife of the late Irvin Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Park City United Methodist Church.

She is survived by one son, Richard Thompson and wife Rita of Fraser, MI; one daughter, Lou Ira Salley and husband Clyde of Park City; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Nagle, Mary, Greg and Mike Thompson, Heather Melnyk, Randall and Russell Salley and seven great grandchildren. Services will be officiated by Rev. Greg Gallerher with burial in the Evergreen cemetery in Park City. Memorial contributions can be made to Park City United Methodist Church P.O. Box 206 Park City, KY 42160.

Mark Allan Davis

Mark Allan Davis, age 35 of Wingfield, passed away Wednesday March 21, 2007 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. He was born in Bowling Green on May 29, 1971 to the late Allan Ray Davis and Linda Young Davis of Windyville. He was a truck driver for Southern Foods of Bowling Green and a member of Wingfield United Baptist Church.

He is also survived by his wife Stacey Ann Davis of Wingfield; one daughter, Lynda Paige Davis of Glasgow; two stepsons, Hunter Christian Bowling of Bowling Green and Thomas Walker Hazel of Wingfield; stepfather, Ronnie Davis of Windyville; one brother, Kevin Ray Davis and wife Tina of Wingfield; one sister, Ashley Nicole Davis of Chalybeate; paternal grandmother, Betty Joan Davis of Wingfield; two nieces, Rachel Davis and Ashton Johnson; three nephews, Matthew Davis, Trey Johnson and Conner Hazel and several aunts and uncles. Services will be officiated by Bro. Ronald Renfro, Bro. Bobby Joe Meredith and Bro. Mike Lindsey with burial in the Wingfield Church cemetery.

Faye Ware Fraim

Billie Faye Ware Fraim, age 56 of Brownsville, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2007 at The Medical Center at Bowling Green. She was born January 11, 1951 in Bowling Green to the late Dorothy Scarbrough Johnson and married to David Fraim of Brownsville. She was the bookkeeper for Fraim's Body Shop and a member of Fairview United Baptist Church.

She is also survived by one daughter, Teresa Webb and husband A.B. of Brownsville; four grandchildren Benjamin, Sarah Ashliegh and James Webb and Tea' Catt; one sister, Rose Bratcher of Brownsville; four step sisters, Sue Bratcher, Linda Warnell and husband Norman, Ann Bullock and husband Barry, Rose Ellen Garrett and husband Dale all of Brownsville and several Aunts, Uncle, Nieces and Nephews. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Penney Catt and step father Paul Johnson. Services are being officiated by Bro. Malcolm Doyle with burial in the Oak Hill cemetery.

HORSE BRANCH -- Jean Alice Woolen, 66, of Horse Branch died there Monday, May 28, 2001. She was a Grayson County native.

Survivors include her husband, Delmer Woolen; two sons, James Delmer Woolen of Horse Branch and Dewey Ray Woolen of Hartford; a daughter, Carol Minton of Horse Branch; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; seven brothers, Bussie Frank, Jerry Frank, Tom Frank and Jim Frank, all of Caneyville, David Frank of Morgantown, Herman Frank of Rockport, Ind., and Joe Frank of Texas; seven sisters, Catherine Tarrance, Jerline Lacefield, Marjorie Payton, Mary Crain and Linda Bryant, all of Caneyville, and Aline Burden and Brenda Beasley, both of Morgantown; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville. Interment will be in Frank-Embry cemetery in Caneyville. Visitation is from 5 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Marie Minton

Lillian Marie Minton, age 95 of Sweeden, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Medical Center at Bowling Green. She was born in Callaway County, NE on October 7, 1911 to the late Robert Vincent and Hester Vincent and married to the late Lacy Minton. She was a homemaker and a member of Sweeden Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son John Minton and one daughter Linda Elmore and husband John of Punta Gorda, FL.; two grandchildren, Robert J. Minton, Jr. and wife Elizabeth and Tammy Minton; two great grandchildren, Kimberly and Jonathan Minton. She is also preceded in death by one daughter, Loretta Minton Luttrell and two sons Haskel and David Minton.

Robert 'Bob' Harding Jr.
1 June 2001

ST. MARKS, Ind. -- Robert "Bob" Harding Jr., 74, of St. Marks died there Wednesday, May 30, 2001, at his home. The Tell City, Ind., native was a Korean War Army veteran and owned Harding Christmas Tree Farm. He was a member of St. Mark Church and American Legion Post 213. He enjoyed hunting and trapping.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Harding; three sons, Robert Joseph Harding and David Lee Harding, both of St. Marks, and Allen Ray Harding of Clarksville, Ind.; two daughters, Suzanne Marie Buchanan of Mount Vernon, Ind., and Nancy Ann Etienne of Leopold, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Private services will be held at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial will be in St. Mary cemetery in Tell City with military rites conducted by American Legion 213. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Perry County (Ind.) Memorial Hospital or St. Mark Church.

Clara Johnson Webb

Clara Johnson Webb, 85 of Brownsville, passed away Friday, January 12, 2007 at Edmonson Health Care in Brownsville. The Edmonson County native was born September 20, 1921 to the late T.O. and Ollie Lindsey Johnson and married to the late Carl T. Webb. She was a member of Fairview United Baptist Church and worked as a sewing machine operator at Smiths Grove Sewing Factory.

She is survived by one son, Donald Webb (Venetta) of Brownsville; two daughters, Donna Meredith (Terry) of Bee Spring and Sherie Westerfield (David) of Brentwood, TN; eight grandchildren, Debbie Jones, Robbie Meredith, Danielle Webb, Jason Webb, Tracy Webb, Nathan Westerfield, Kristin Westerfield and Mitchell Westerfield; six great grandchildren, Ariel Jones, Angelia Jones, Carissa Webb, Kaylee Webb, Dalton Webb and Callie Webb. She was also preceded in death by one son, Vernal Lee Webb; one daughter, June Webb Ashley and three grandsons, Larry and Terry Webb and Paul Thomas Westerfield. Services will be officiated by Bro. Malcolm Doyle and Bro. Jerry Patton with burial in the Fairview Church cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Edmonson Health Care, 813 South Main Street Brownsville, KY 42210.
