Roy McClain Sr., 99, of Mount Eden, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003.

Survivors include sons Roy McClain Jr. of Georgetown, Ind. and Truman McClain of Mount Eden; and daughters Doris Sweasy of Taylorsville and Kaye Martin of Finchville.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Briar Ridge Christian Church. Visitation is 2 to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Taylorsville and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Albert Phillip Theiss
9 July 2001

Albert Phillip Theiss, 98, of 1601 Frederica St., Owensboro, died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Hermitage Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. The Owensboro native was a retired brick mason and masonry contractor, orginally having been in partnership with his father, and was former superintendent for Whittenberg Construction. He was a member of St. Stephen Cathedral and T.P.A. His wife, Hazel Davis Theiss, died Jan. 11, 1997.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan T. Henderson of Phoenix; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marvin Glenn Turner

Marvin Glenn Turner, 50, of Crestwood, died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Charlotte Turner; daughters, Barbara Rogers of Shelbyville, Laura Criswell of Trimble County, Kim Billingsley of Ridley Park, Penn., Karen Popp of Crestwood, Pam Carman of Carrollton and Teresa Turner of Crestwood; his mother, Annabelle Turner of Bagdad; sisters, Loretta Rogers of Bagdad and Virginia Franklin of Alton; and brothers, Art Turner of Louisville, Eddie Lee Turner of Bagdad, Larry Turner of Texas and Wayne Turner of Shelbyville.

The funeral was Saturday at Arch L. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home.

Raymond Wilson

Raymond Wilson, 88, of Pleasureville, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Ammons Wilson; a son, George Wilson of Pleasureville; daughters, Nadine Adams of Cincinnati, Maxine Royse of Bowling Green and Geri Taylor of Pleasureville; and a sister, June Garrett of Shelbyville.

The funeral was Monday, Dec. 1, at Sholar Funeral Home.

Walter C. Cox

Walter C. Cox, 85, of Lawrenceburg, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Susie Camic Cox; a daughter, Teresa Reynolds of Frankfort; a son, Bobby G. Cox of Lawrenceburg; sisters, Elsie King of Muncie, Ind., Oneida Stratton of Shelbyville and Louise Rucker of Lawrenceburg; and brothers, Paul Cox and Harold Cox of Shelbyville.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at Clark-Sunset Funeral Home in Frankfort. Visitation is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. before the service.

Alma Floyd Garrett

Alma Floyd Garrett, 75, of Anderson, Ind., died Nov. 25, 2003.

Survivors include her husband, Dewey F. Garrett; sons, William H. Garrett of Anderson and Timothy Dewey Garrett of Spring Lake, Mich.; brothers Doug Floyd of Graefenburg and Glen Floyd, Leonard Floyd, David Floyd and Richard Floyd of Bagdad; and sisters, Barbara Taylor of Bagdad and Dolly Martin of Louisville.

The funeral was Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home.

Christiene J. Slack
9 July 2001

FORDSVILLE -- Christiene J. Slack, 78, of Fordsville died Saturday, July 7, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native was a housewife and member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Her husband, Dewey Slack, died Sept. 9, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Danny Slack of Fordsville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Shrader of Pattyville; and a sister, Margaret Jo Cooper of Louisville.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is after 3 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bonnie V. Quire

Bonnie V. Quire, 60, of Beechridge, Ky., died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003.

Survivors include her husband, Carl T. Quire; a daughter, Carla Gayle Winans of Beechridge; sons, Billy Ray Quire of Pleasureville, Michael Robin Quire of Bagdad and Nathan Thomas Quire of Beechridge; brothers, Millard Earl Ashcraft of Pewee Valley, Harold Ashcraft of New Castle, Eugene Ashcraft of Lake Lavilla, Ky.; Jimmy Ashcraft of La Grange, Ernest Ashcraft of Irvin and Owen Ashcraft of Gainesville, Fla.; and sisters, Mary Donaway of Prospect, Ethel Bramble of Rushville, Mo., Cora Lee Donaway of Nicholasville and Rose Hall of New Castle

The funeral is 1 p.m. Thursday at Faith Baptist Church. Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home in Frankfort, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Miguel Adalberto Castaneda and Carlos Efrain Castaneda

Miguel Adalberto Castaneda, 28, and Carlos Efrain Castaneda, 25, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, in a shooting at their home.

They were natives of Tepecoyo Department, La Libertad, El Salvador and bricklayers.

Survivors include their father, Miguel Adalberto Castaneda, and a brother, Rodrigo Castaneda of El Salvador.

They were preceded in death by their mother, Rosario Zaldana Castillo.

A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Webb Funeral Home with visitation from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Funeral services and burial will be in El Salvador.

Warren 'Corky' Chesher

Warren "Corky" Chesher, 60, of Waddy, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Bonita Dawson Chesher of Waddy; sons Brad Chesher of Louisville and W.D. Chesher and Robert Earl Chesher of Waddy; daughters Tammy Chesher and Kim McKinley of Shelbyville and Lisa Blum of Mount Washington; his mother, Gladys Gaines Chesher of Shelbyville; a brother, Bobby Chesher of Shelbyville; and a sister, Kathy Baker of Shelbyville.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Friday at Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation is 2 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday.

C. William Taylor Jr.

C. William Taylor Jr., 79, of Richmond, Ind., formerly of Shelbyville, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2003.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Conn Taylor; daughters, Frances Moore, Nancy Brewer and Mary Eck; and a brother, John M. McCann.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Richmond.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home in Richmond.

Lora Deana Wilhoite Shuck

Lora Deana Wilhoite Shuck. 99, of Cropper, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003.

Survivors include sons Earl Shuck of Cropper and Robert Carroll Shuck of Sligo.

The funeral was Thursday at Sholar Funeral Home.

Sarah Perry Burger

Sarah Perry Burger, 86, of Taylorsville, formerly of Shelbyville, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003.

Survivors include a nephew, John Saunders of Shelbyville.

The funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home in Frankfort. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Opal Satterly Stakelbeck

Opal Satterly Stakelbeck, 84, of Crestwood, formerly of Shelby County, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003.

Survivors include sons Dale L. Stakelbeck and William Don Stakelbeck; daughters, Lisa Stamper and Holly Mitchell; and sisters, Alberta Atherton, Betty Hammond and Evelyn Satterly.

The funeral is 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Stoess Funeral Home in Crestwood. Visitation is 3 to 8 p.m. Friday.

James Meredith Daniel

James Meredith Daniel, 84, of Lexington, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004.

Survivors include children, Mililani Basberg of Shelbyville and James Meredith Daniel Jr. and John Franklin Daniel II of Eddyville; sisters, Jane Allen and Frances Pennebaker of Lexington; and a brother, Richard Daniel of Winter Haven, Fla.

A graveside service was held Monday at Lexington cemetery.

Wanda Sue Farley

Wanda Sue Farley, 46, of Phyllis, Ky., died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004.

Survivors include her husband, Raymond Farley; a son, Roy Ricketts Jr. of La Grange; daughters, Kathy Bruner of Shelbyville and Tina Moore of Taylorsville; her mother, Cora Mullins McIntyre of Louisville; stepsons, P.J. Farley and Raymond Farley Jr. of Phyllis and Troy Ricketts of Frankfort; stepdaughters Crystal Gail Conley of Kermit, W.Va. and Robestra Picklesimer of Ashland, Ky.; brothers, Bobby McIntyre of Kansas, Mo., Elmer McIntyre and Raymond McIntyre of Louisville and James McIntyre of Kokomo, Ind.; and sisters, Lisa Logan of Finchville, Cora Cockrell and Helen Glosser of Kokomo, Shirley Wry of Modesto, Calif. and Betty Preston of Pleasureville.

The funeral was Monday at Shannon Funeral Home.

Hawkins

The infant daughter of Danielle Hawkins and Tommy Satterley of Waddy was stillborn Friday, Feb. 13, 2004.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her grandmother and stepgrandfather, Lenore and Kevin Goodlett of Salvisa; grandfather and stepgrandmother, Barron and Kim Hawkins of Waddy; grandmother, Melanie Edwards of Waddy; great-grandmother, Dixie Estes of Irvine; great-grandmother and stepgreat-grandfather, Betty and Donald Walls of Lawrenceburg; great-grandfather, Ralph Satterley of Waddy; and great-great-grandmother, Viola Satterley of Waddy.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fox Creek cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Arvin L. 'Shorty' Wood

Arvin L. "Shorty" Wood, 79, of Shelbyville, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Catherine Rucker Wood; sons, Bobby Wood and Ricky Wood of Shelbyville; daughters, Barbara Adams and Carol Whiddon of Shelbyville; a brother, Clinton Wood of Louisville; and a sister, Wilene Adams of Pleasureville.

The funeral was Tuesday at Sholar Funeral Home.
