Helen Caudill Grote, 101, of Southport, North Carolina, died Thursday, April 15, 2004.

She is survived by a son, Charles E. Grote Jr. of Lawrenceburg; daughters, Betty Rives of Shelbyville, Janis Brock of Southport, North Carolina.

A private family graveside service was held Tuesday at Grove Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Georgetown College. Hall-Taylor Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Rita J. Johnson

Rita J. Johnson, 54, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, April 20, 2004.

She was a native of Rockford, Ill.

She is survived by her husband, Timothy Johnson of Shelbyville; daughter, Amy Engleking of North Vernon, Ind.; a son, Jason Johnson of Edinburgh, Ind.; brothers, Dwayne Trafford of Oklahoma City, Okla., Victor Thompson of Paris, Ill.; sisters, Regina Jones and Brenda Pitts, both of Terre Haute, Indiana, Barbara Gruhle of Columbus, Ind.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Edinburgh Apostolic Tabernacle. Visitation will be 4:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Eskew Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh and 9 a.m. Friday at the church until time of service. Burial will be in Rest Haven cemetery in Edinburgh, Ind.

Mary Elizabeth 'Puddin' Cecil

Mary Elizabeth "Puddin" Cecil, 89, of Louisville, died Friday, May 7, 2004.

She was a native of Shelbyville. She is survived by sisters, Clara Clark, Phoebe Jessee, Jean Lewis and Barbara Ashby, all of Shelbyville; brothers, Douglas Edington and Luther Edington, both of Shelbyville; step-sons, Steve and Mike Cecil.

The funeral was Monday at Evergreen Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Esther B. Grayson

Esther B. Grayson, 83, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, May 9, 2004.

She is survived by two granddaughters, Lana Grayson Reese of Shelbyville, and Leah Grayson Broughton of Graefenburg; caregiver, Judy Grayson of Shelbyville.

The funeral was Wednesday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Shelbyville Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Marion Kidwell Koren

Marion Kidwell Koren, 52, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, May 8, 2004.

She is survived by her companion, Sherry Skelton of Shelbyville; sons, Gary Middleton II and James Michael Kidwell, both of Shelbyville, and Everette "Frankie" Middletown of Lexington; a daughter, Belissa Middleton of Louisville; three brothers, Walter Koren of Greensboro, North Carolina, Michael Koren of Memphis, Tenn., Nicholas Koren of Louisville; a sister, Martha Simpkins of Louisville.

The funeral Wednesday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Diabetics Association.

Charlie S. Moore

Charlie S. Moore, 100, of Finchville, died Monday, May 10, 2004.

He is survived by two daughters, Mary C. Sutherland and Gladys C. Burton, both of Louisville; three sons, Roy J. Moore, Paul E. Moore, both of Louisville, Charles W. Moore of Shelbyville; 30 grandchildren.

The funeral will be noon, Friday at Clay Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Elk Creek Missionary Baptist Church Youth or Brotherhood. Shannon Funeral Service handled the arrangements.

Nancy L. Cottrell Morton

Nancy L. Cottrell Morton, 79, of Louisville, died Thursday, May 6, 2004.

She was a native of Shelbyville. She is survived by a son, Chester F. Morton Jr. of Louisville; a sister, Anna E. Jackson of Louisville; a brother, Willie C. Cottrell of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Ray Stivers

Ray Stivers, 73, of Shelbyville, died Friday, May 7, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Claudia Russell Stivers of Shelbyville; a son, Mark Stivers of Shelbyville; two brothers, Lawrence Stivers of Shelbyville, G.A. "Gusty" Stivers of Jeffersontown; two sisters, Nancy Jones and Eloise Fallis, both of Shelbyville.

The funeral was Monday at Shannon Funeral Home. Burial was in Grove Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of Louisville or Shelbyville First Baptist Church.

James Ritchey

James Ritchey, 87, of Waddy, died Wednesday, May 12, 2004.

He was a native of Shelby County.

He is survived by daughters, Doris Ann Ritchey and Lillie Mae Carriss, both of Waddy; sons, William Paul Ritchey of Avenstoke, Stewart Eugene Ritchey of Shelbyville, Marvin Lee Ritchey of Hatton, James Ritchey Jr. of Waddy; sisters, Dora Frances Luster of Covington, Arva Mae Lacefield of Kokomo, Ind.; brother, Herbert Jesse Ritchey of Huntington, Tenn.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation will be noon-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pigeon Fork cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Pigeon Fork Baptist Church.

Patricia Felix Dickey

Patricia Felix Dickey, 63, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, May 13, 2004.

She is survived by daughters, Susan Casey, Rebecca Felix, both of Louisville, Judy Cunningham of Shelbyville; sons, James Felix II of Bagdad, Robert Felix of Radcliffe; sisters, Helen Mathis of Pinckneyville, Ill., Marie Baldwin of Decatur, Michigan, Martha Hedrick of Williamsport, Ind.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation will be 5-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grove Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to American Cancer Society.

Sarah Elizabeth Bland

Sarah Elizabeth Bland, 76, of Shelbyville, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2004.

She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Higgins; brothers Taylor Webb, George Webb and William Webb; a sister, Mildred Webb and a husband, James Higgins. She is survived by her husband, "Joe" Thomas Bland of Shelbyville; sons Charles Higgins Sr. and Edward Higgins, both of Shelbyville, and Jimmy Higgins of Louisville; stepsons William Evans of Louisville and James Evans III of Shelbyville; daughters Frances Stone and Lena Newton, both of Shelbyville, and Barbara McNeal of Louisville; stepdaughters Barbara Bland Clay of Richmond and Mary K. Evans of Frankfort; sisters Ernestine Stone, Anna Bray and Betty Campbell, all of Shelbyville, and Carrie Johnson of Mumfordsville.

The funeral was Monday at Shannon Funeral Home. Burial was in Calvary cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Ruby Samples Bohannon

Ruby Samples Bohannon, 88, of Georgetown, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Bohannon. She is survived by daughters Barbara Hoffman and Kay Vincent, both of Georgetown. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Bagdad cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 508 East Pike St., Cynthiana, Ky. 41031. Rhonda Jo Bruner

Rhonda Jo Bruner, 39, of Gravel Switch, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004.

She is survived by companion Billy C. Hays of Gravel Switch; brothers Roy Bruner of Shelbyville and John Bruner of Bradfordsville and sisters Molly Howard and Grace Gordon, both of Bradfordsville, Wanda Henson of Manchester and Thelma Thurman of London.

The funeral was Thursday at Bosley Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial was in Haysville Church cemetery.

Joseph D. 'Jody' Ison

Joseph D. "Jody" Ison, 54, of Finchville, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Mancuso Ison; his mother, Florence Ison of Benham and his brother, Nick Ison of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Visitation will be 3-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Shannon Funeral Home. There will be a memorial service at the funeral home 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. There will be another visitation 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Tri-City Funeral Home, Benham, and a memorial service will be held there 1 p.m. Thursday. Burial will follow at Huff cemetery in Harlan County. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Alice Lloyd College or Kentucky Council on Crime and Delinquency Scholarship/Catastrophe Fund, 301 Kentucky Ave., Georgetown, Ky. 40324.

Norman Edward Kirk Jr.

Norman Edward Kirk Jr., 76, of Frankfort, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Wright Kirk of Frankfort and sons Norman Douglas Kirk and Steven Lynn Kirk, both of Frankfort.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, Frankfort. Burial will be in Bagdad cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 208 Steele St., Frankfort, Ky. 40601.

A. J. Martin Jr., 74, of Taylorsville, died Friday, Aug. 13, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Stella Phillips Martin of Taylorsville; sons Robert Edgar Martin of Mason, Ohio and Ray Jesse Martin of Waddy; a daughter, Cynthia Jayne Greer of Decatur, Ind.; a brother, Math Martin of Pleasureville; a sister, Ann Edgar of Shelbyville.

William Ellis Lisby

William Ellis Lisby, 81, of Waddy, died Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004.

A native of Shelby County, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Young and a sister, Lorena Souder. He is survived by his wife, Jean Cook Lisby of Waddy; a daughter, Cheryl Cook of Gates, Tenn.; a brother, Kenneth Lisby of Waddy; a sister, Linda Taylor of Lexington; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 1 p.m. Tuesday at Shannon Funeral Home. Burial will be in Grove Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Salem Baptist Church.
