Haggie Mae Maddox, 94, of Taylorsville, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.

A member of The Church of God of Prophecy in Taylorsville, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney Maddox; a daughter, Christine Wise; sisters Ada Jewell, Myrtle Norton and Georgia Goodlett and several grandchildren. She is survived by a son, John Byrd of Shelbyville; a daughter, Shirley Dillinger of Taylorsville; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Church of God of Prophecy, Taylorsville. Visitation is 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesday and 9-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Greenwell-Jenkins-Houghlin Funeral Home, Taylorsville, and noon-2 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Expressions of sympathy to the family may be made to Greenwell-Jenkins-Houghlin Funeral Home.

Kathryn Marie Henninger Mercer

Kathryn Marie Henninger Mercer, 82, of Hardinsburg, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.

A native of Breckinridge County, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Mercer. She is survived by a son, Burns Mercer of Hardinsburg; daughters Lorna Robinson of Shelbyville, Betty Keown of Cumming, Ga. and Janet Shrewsbury and Pam Taul, both of McQuady; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hardinsburg United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Cave Spring cemetery, Westview. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Breckinridge Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or the Hardinsburg United Methodist Church Building Fund. Trent-Dowell Funeral Home, Hardinsburg handled the arrangements.

James Earl Ritchie

James Earl Ritchie, 61, of Centerfield, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.

He is survived by a son, Tim Ritchie of Waddy; daughters Pam Willard and Sandy Milburn, both of Jeffersontown and Angela Adcock of Shelbyville; his father, Virgil E. Ritchie; a brother, Forrest Lee Ritchie of Centerfield and sisters Faye Hawkins of Taylorsville, Ethel Rison of Centerfield, Monica Carman of Prospect and Glenda Walker of New Albany.

A private memorial service will be held. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Diabetes Society or American Heart Association. Heady Radcliffe Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Wanda Ritter

Wanda Ritter, 60, of Shelbyville, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004

She is survived by sons Mark Stucker of Shelbyville and Chris Stucker of Taylorsville; a daughter, Jennifer West of Frankfort; brothers Gary Ritter of Frankfort, Ronald Byrd Ritter of Shelbyville and Allen Ritter of Taylorsville; a sister, Betty Walker of Taylorsville; her companion, James Ashby of Shelbyville and eight grandchildren.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Shannon Funeral Home. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grove Hill cemetery.

Robert W. "Bob" Sams

Robert W. "Bob" Sams, 53, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Sams of Shelbyville; sons Robert E. Sams and Kyle Sams, both of Shelbyville; parents Eldon and Doris Sams of London; a brother, James Sams of London and two nephews.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Grove Hill cemetery.

Sarah A. Shupe

Sarah A. Shupe, 84, formerly of Shelby County, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lauren A. Shupe and sons John Scott Shupe and James Ross Shupe. She is survived by sisters Frances A. Cramb of Nashville, Tenn. and Betty Moore of Martin, Tenn.; three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral was Sunday at Brown Funeral Home, Clinton with the Rev. Lynn Humston officiating. Burial was in Clark's cemetery.

James L. 'Hawkeye' Spencer

James L. "Hawkeye" Spencer, 52, of Taylorsville, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.

He is survived by his mother, Anna Spencer of Louisville; brothers Anderson Spencer of Louisville and Dennis Spencer of Shelbyville; sisters Lucy Mathis of Louisville and Barbara Spencer of Taylorsville; his companion, Ella Louise Carpenter of Taylorsville; several nieces, nephews and cousins and friends at Taylorsville IGA.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Second Baptist Church of Taylorsville. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Valley cemetery, Taylorsville. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Second Baptist Church of Taylorsville. Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Taylorsville handled the arrangements.

Lena Helen Parks Tindle

Lena Helen Parks Tindle, 86, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.

A native of Henry County, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garnett Tindle. She is survived by daughters Barbara Ann Williams of Louisville and Carolyn Sue Bradley of Shelbyville; sisters Elanor Payton and Gertrude Yount, both of Louisville; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home, Shelbyville. Visitation is 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grove Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Billy Duncan Williams

Billy Duncan Williams, of Glenview, formerly of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004.

He was a retired builder and developer and owner of Builders Home Furnishings, House of 2nds and North Carolina Furniture. He and his wife were also owners of the Beef and Board Dinner Theatre, Shelbyville for over 14 years.

He is survived by his wife, the former Lou Ellen Carwile of Glenview; daughters Cheryl Stuck of Louisville and Cathy Hargrave of Texas; sisters Mrs. Ralph Perry of Portland, Tenn., Mrs. John Eeccloo of Canada and Mrs. John Atkins of Glasgow; brothers Fred Williams of Franklin and James Williams of Nashville, Tenn.; two grandchildren and one step grandchild.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Arch L. Heady & Son Hikes Point Funeral Home, Louisville. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Cave Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Kentucky & Southern Indiana Stroke Association, 3900 Shelbyville Rd., Suite 7, Louisville, Ky. 40207.

Charles Adams

Charles Adams, 75, of Shelbyville, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Sara Stucker Adams of Shelbyville; daughters Debbie Case of Shelbyville and Becky Adams of Frankfort; brothers Ralph Gilbert Adams of Gulf Shores, Ala. and Raymond Lee Adams of Louisville; one grandchild; and four step grandchildren.

The funeral was Thursday at Shannon Funeral Home. Burial was in Grove Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Edith Shuck Aldridge

Edith Shuck Aldridge, 64, of Shelbyville, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2005.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Wiley Aldridge Sr.; daughters Peggy Sue Riddle of Shelbyville, Deborah Gerber of Louisville, and Teresa Aldridge of Campbellsville; a son, Robert Aldridge Jr. of Hardinsburg; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in New Castle cemetery.

Paul Bohannon

Paul Bohannon, 68, of Frankfort, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Bohannon. He is survived by brothers Billy Gene Bohannon of Simpsonville, Robby Bohannon of Louisville, Bobby Bohannon of Mt. Eden, and Ray Thomas Bohannon of Shelbyville and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The funeral was Tuesday at Shannon Funeral Home. Burial was in Grove Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the WHAS Crusade for Children.

Garnelia Butts

Garnelia Butts, 72, of Mt. Eden, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005.

She is survived by her husband, John Butts of Mt. Eden; sons Gregory Wilder of Westport and Larry Wilder of Taylorsville; a daughter, Kathy Paulsen of Mt. Eden; stepsons John Thomas Butts of Sacramento, Calif. and Steven Butts of Mt. Eden; stepdaughters Cheryl Fortner of Mt. Shasta, Calif. and Leeanne Thomas of Pleasanton, Calif.; a brother, Henry Butts Sr. of Mt. Washington; sisters Marjorie Warren of Daytona Beach, Fla., Genevieve Lilly of North Carolina, and Brenda Smith of Frankfort; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral was Wednesday at Shannon Funeral Home. Burial was in Grove Hill cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Mt. Eden Christian Church.

Ruby Hurst Cook

Ruby Hurst Cook, 88, of Lawrenceburg, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2005.

She was preceded in death by a son, Donald Edward Cook, sisters Alma Merryman and Dora Lee Quaerna, and several stepsisters and stepbrothers. She is survived by her husband, George M. Cook; daughters Peggy Catlett of Shelbyville and Theresa Damron of Frankfort; sisters Isabelle Royalty of Lawrenceburg and Willie Mae Hinson of South Carolina; a stepsister, Mary Love Bowman of Louisville; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawrenceburg cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Anderson County Senior Citizens, 160 Township Square, Lawrenceburg, Ky. 40342.

Joe Dixon

Joe Dixon, 64, of New Castle, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005.

He is survived by his wife, Rosie Crouch Dixon of New Castle; daughters Tammy Dixon and Donna Samples, both of New Castle, and Missy Beach of Carrollton; sons Donny Dixon of Crestwood and Wade Troxel of New Castle; sisters Elizabeth Spurr of Indianapolis, Ind. and Hallie Summitt of Shelbyville; and 13 grandchildren.

Franklin D. 'Punker' Holt

Franklin D. "Punker" Holt, 90, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2005.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Mae Disponett Holt; sisters Mattie Peyton, Mable Stratton, Janie Disponett, and Madge Stratton; and a brother, Randolph Holt. He is survived by daughters Shirley Sea of Shelbyville, Linda Yocum of Naples, Fla., and Kim Lynch of Lawrenceburg; sons Franklin D. Holt Jr., Robert Eugene Holt, and Kenny Holt, all of Lawrenceburg; a brother, Kenneth Holt of Lawrenceburg; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was Wednesday at Gash Memorial Chapel. Burial was in Lawrenceburg cemetery.

Betty Rose Horn

Betty Rose Horn, 61, of Shelbyville, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005.

She is survived by a son, James Robert Lee Horn of Idaho Falls, Idaho; sisters Belinda Puckett of Shelbyville and Deanna Pruitt of Edmonton; a brother, Raynold Vincent Sr. of Louisville; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was Tuesday at Hager Funeral Home. Burial was in Salem Baptist Church cemetery.

Hallie Reading Keith

Hallie Reading Keith, 78, of Frankfort, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2005.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Winford Martin Keith, and brothers Alvin Reading and Howard Edward Reading. She is survived by sons Garry Wayne Keith of Shelbyville and David W. Keith of Frankfort; daughters Charlotte Elaine Cardwell of Lawrenceburg and Barbara Sue Masters of Waddy; a sister, Elizabeth Meece of Indiana; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was Tuesday at Bellepoint Baptist Church, Frankfort. Burial was in Owenton cemetery. Harrod Brothers Funeral Home, Frankfort handled the arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Bellepoint Baptist Church, 622 Kentucky Ave., Frankfort, Ky. 40601.
