GREENVILLE -- Bella Allison, 84, of Greenville died there Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Belle Meade Nursing Home. She was a Gary, Ind., native. Her husband, Oscar David Allison, died April 27, 1997.

Survivors include two sons, Tom Ramsey of Jacksonville, Fla., and John Sarafin of Hammond, Ind.; a daughter, Lynne Bosley of Bowling Green; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Millie Elibasich of Merrillville, Ind.

Services will be private. There is no visitation. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

Kirk Bradley

Kirk Bradley, 85, of Utica died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Bozeman, Mont., native was a retired electrician and a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Utica Masonic Lodge, Acacia Eastern Star and Owensboro White Shrine of Jerusalem. He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 1701, Green River Valley and Kentucky Bee Association. His wife, Ruby Bradley, died Dec. 16, 1990, and a son, Anthony Bradley, died March 8, 1999.

Survivors include a companion, Cova Hale; a daughter, Marceil Arnold of Glen Ellyn, Ill.; three grandchildren; a sister, Mary Alice Caudill of South Point, Ohio; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Masonic services are at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Diabetes Association, 1941 Bishop Lane, Suite 110, Louisville, KY 40218 or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 120 Wall St., New York, NY 10005.

Donald F. Campbell

Donald F. Campbell, 73, of 2210 Scherm Road, Owensboro, died Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, native was a general practitioner with practices in North Dakota, Oregon and Oklahoma. He was a private pilot and FAA physician. He was a magna cum laude graduate from the University of Manitoba Medical School, receiving two gold medals for academic honors. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Campbell.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Paula Marilyn Jones Campbell; two sons, Glen Campbell of Fort Worth, Texas, and Scott Campbell of Norman, Okla.; two daughters, Cheryle Balazs of Norman and Dawn Campbell of Broken Arrow, Okla.; five stepdaughters, Sue Atwood of Palmdale, Calif., Cate Lauzon of Owensboro, Blair Guest of Missoula, Mont., Cynthia Morey of Portland, Ore., and Marsha Steffen of Tualatin, Ore.; 18 grandchildren; and two sisters, Alison Hermon of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and Janet Grishon of Huntington Beach, Calif.

Private services were held. Burial was at Old Kildonan cemetery in Winnipeg. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro handled arrangements.

Floyd R. Baggarly

BEAVER DAM -- Floyd R. Baggarly, 84, of Beaver Dam died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native retired as a coal miner from Peabody Coal Co. and was a Methodist. He was a local musician and played on Central City radio and channel 13 in Bowling Green. He was a member of the Ohio County Senior Swingers band and Rockport Lodge 312 F&AM. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ettah Knight Baggarly, and his second wife, Mary Elizabeth Benton Baggarly, on Feb. 11, 1993.

Survivors include a son, Charles Leroy "Chuck" Baggarly of Maceo; four daughters, Martha Kay Black of Echols, Wilma Faye Smith of Owensboro, Mary Fanny Ward of Hartford and Linda Goff of Beaver Dam; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Baggarly of Beaver Dam; and two sisters, Katie Thomas of Bradenburg and Carrie Iglehart of Hodgenville.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Sunnyside cemetery in Beaver Dam. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Masonic services are at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

George R. Martin Sr.
30 January 2001

George R. Martin Sr., 76, of 2830 Choctaw Drive, Owensboro, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was an electrician with NECA-IBEW Local 16 in Evansville. He retired from Indiana-Michigan Power Plant and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church and American Legion and enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, fishing, flea markets and spending time with family.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martie Jane Woodward Martin; a son, George R. "Bob" Martin Jr. of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Linda Jane Frantz of Owensboro and Patricia Kathryn "Kathy" Hall of Pleasant Ridge; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Sylvia Warner of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Gloris Benefield of Owensboro.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Bells Run cemetery in Ohio County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today, 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

William 'Jack' Stockton
26 January 2001

William "Jack" Stockton, 93, of Whitesville died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a member of Whitesville Baptist Church and A.G. Hodges Masonic Lodge 297. His first wife, Mary N. Stockton, died April 23, 1981; and his second wife, Mamie Cundiff Stockton, died Jan. 12, 1999.

Survivors include several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Whitesville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Karns Grove cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville. Masonic services are at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Karns Grove cemetery.

Donna Jean Whitaker

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Donna Jean Whitaker, 70, of Port Charlotte, formerly of Owensboro, died there Friday, Jan. 19, 2001. The Owensboro native was a homemaker. She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary, Fleet Reserve auxiliary and Gold Star Wives. She was a former member of Hall Street Baptist Church and enjoyed bowling and ceramics. Her husband, Howard D. Whitaker, died in 1972.

Survivors include a daughter, Janet Lamar of Port Charlotte; three grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Bill Allen of Cleveland; and a sister, Catherine Crippen of Port Charlotte.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today and from noon to 1:40 p.m. Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Joe Franklin Whitmore

POOLE -- Joe Franklin Whitmore, 67, of Poole died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis of complications from heart surgery. He was an Army veteran and a Christian. He was a member of Poole Masonic Lodge 604 F&AM and Ermine Ford Chapter 9 of Order of the Eastern Star. He formerly worked at Haliburton and Scott Lumber.

Survivors include his wife, Joann Whitmore; two sons, Steve Whitmore of Jonesboro, Ark., and Billy Whitmore of Henderson; three daughters, Terri Whitmore Dalton of Dayton, Ohio, Tina Whitmore Myers of Poole and Karla Whitmore Wiles of Stanley; two stepsons, Stan Cook of Poole and Terry Cook of Henderson; 14 grandchildren; his mother, Naomi Whitmore of Henderson; two sisters, Hattie Harmon of Cairo and Dianna Henry of Collinsville, Okla.; and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Tapp Funeral Home in Henderson. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson with full military rites. Visitation is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Masonic services are at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Ermine Ford Chapter 9 of Order of the Eastern Star in Poole.

Eugene T. Devine

Eugene T. Devine, 56, of Maceo died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native was a plant manager at Specialty Container for eight years. He served in the Army and the National Guard and enjoyed NASCAR, football and farming.

Survivors include his wife of five years, Peggy Devine; two sons, Jeff Devine and Steve Devine, both of Owensboro; a stepson, David Pile of Owensboro; a stepdaughter, Renee Howard of Gastonia, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Eugene T. Devine Memorial Fund.

Harold G. 'Pat' Malone
28 January 2001

MOUNT STERLING -- Harold G. "Pat" Malone, 83, of Mount Sterling died there Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at Mary Chiles Hospital after a long illness. The Grayson County native was a retired dentist and past president of the Kentucky Dental Association's Blue Grass Dental Society. He was a retired Army Major and had served in World War II. He was an amateur artist and member of Ascension Episcopal Church in Mount Sterling.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Malone; two sons, James Malone of Paducah and David Malone of Owensboro; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Elizabeth Malone of Germany and Margaret Malone of Williamsburg, Va.

Services are pending. Herald & Stewart Home for Funerals in Mount Sterling is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Memorial Fund c/o Ascension Episcopal Church.

Ernest Melvin Miller

CENTRAL CITY -- Ernest Melvin Miller, 87, of Central City died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native retired as a miner after 63 years and was a member of Cleaton Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lucille Miller; three sons, Bobby Joe Miller of Hammond, Ind., Jimmy Miller of Central City and Jerry Miller of Bremen; two daughters, Shelby Jones of Central City and Carolyn Sue Moore of Hammond; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; eight stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Ezra Miller of Drakesboro; and three sisters, Minnie Welborn of Central City, Hazel Hunt of Drakesboro and Lottie May Beasley of Greenville.

Services are at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Katherine Blanc Mitchell
28 January 2001

Katherine Blanc Mitchell, 86, of 2600 South Griffith Avenue, Owensboro, died there Friday, Jan. 26, 2001, at her home. The Henderson County native retired from Kentucky Wesleyan College as professor emeritus after 27 years of teaching French and Spanish. She was a member of Wesleyan Heights Methodist Church, Owensboro Woman's Club and the Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of the Itineris Club and volunteered at the Owensboro Area Museum. Her husband, Jack U. Mitchell, died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Joseph B. Mitchell of Bakersfield, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Ann Mitchell of Fort Worth, Texas; and five grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Kentucky Wesleyan College.
