LEITCHFIELD -- Mary E. Fletcher, 84, of Leitchfield died Saturday, May 5, 2001, at the Leitchfield Health Care Manor. The Grayson County native was a member of Christ Temple Apostolic Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Douglass Fletcher.

Survivors include five sons, Omar T. Bruce of Oakland, Calif., James A. Fletcher Sr. of Indianapolis, Henry V. Fletcher, Herbert M. Fletcher Sr. and Russell W. Fletcher, all of Louisville; four daughters, Hattie Drummond of Leitchfield, Freddie Mae Fletcher of French Lick, Ind., Catherine Fletcher Morton of Louisville and Denice Fletcher Roach of Lewisport; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank E. Bruce, Everett Ward Bruce and Carl R. Bruce, all of Louisville; and three sisters, Hattie Goff, Edmond Goff and Verna Kennedy, all of Louisville.

Services are at 1 p.m. today at Christ Temple Apostolic Church in Leitchfield. Burial will be in Leitchfield Memory Gardens. Visitation is after 10 a.m. today at the church. Watson & Hunt Funeral Directors in Leitchfield is in charge of arrangements.

Noble A. Wall

HENDERSON -- Noble A. Wall, 61, of Henderson died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Jenny Stuart Medical Center in Hopkinsville. The Daviess County native retired from Whirlpool Co. as a forklift operator, attended Holy Name Catholic Church and was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Wall; a son, Tim Wall of Burns, Tenn.; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Wall and Carl Wall, both of Owensboro; and three sisters, Mary Morris, Helen Carter and Virginia Bowlds, all of Owensboro.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Graveside services are at 3 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Gardens cemetery in Dickson, Tenn. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Willard G. Crowe

Willard G. Crowe, 58, of 2018 Oak Ave., Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native retired from National Linen Service Co. after 17 years and enjoyed fishing and billiards. His son, Charley Crowe, died in 1965.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Myrtle Crowe; a son, Mark Crowe of Owensboro; two grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Baptist Church cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Heart Association, 318 St. Elizabeth Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.

William C. 'Bill' Park

RICHLAND, Ind. -- William C. "Bill" Park, 78, of Richland died Monday, May 14, 2001, at Miller's Merry Manor in Rockport, Ind. The Narrows native was a cement mason with Local Union 566 and attended Richland United Methodist Church. His son, Fred Park, died in 1992.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Helen Park; a son, Joe Park of Franklin, Ind.; two sisters, Eunice Mitchell and Ruth Leach, both of Owensboro; and three grandsons.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Burial will be in Mount Zion cemetery in Richland, Ind. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Nora Mae Webb McCrady

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Nora Mae Webb McCrady, 68, of Memphis died there Monday, May 7, 2001. The Sweden, Ky., native was saved at Sweden Missionary Baptist Church in November 1949 and joined Owensboro First United Baptist Church on Oct. 24, 1965. She worked at Malco Theaters in Memphis and enjoyed doing things for her children. Her husband of 34 years, Herbert E. McCrady, died Sept. 17, 1987.

Survivors include two sons, Herbert Edwin McCrady Jr. of Hanson and Walter Frederick McCrady of Philpot; a daughter, Deborah Gaye McCrady of Memphis; and two grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Owensboro First United Baptist Church. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Owensboro First United Baptist Church, 4729 Becker Drive, Owensboro KY 42303.

Joseph A. 'Buck' Mattingly
10 May 2001

Joseph A. "Buck" Mattingly, 87, of Sorgho died Tuesday, May 8, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native retired as a real estate broker in Phoenix, was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and was a World War II Army veteran of the European theater. He was a member of VFW, American Legion and was a Kentucky Colonel. He enjoyed garage sales, Shoney's, friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Mattingly.

Survivors include a brother, George P. "G.P." Mattingly of Owensboro; two sisters, Lois Knott of Sorgho and Thelma Massie of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Sorgho. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 7232 Kentucky 56, Owensboro KY 42301.

Margaret Nance

MADISONVILLE -- Margaret Melissa Nance, 94, of Madisonville died Wednesday, May 2, 2001, in Florissant, Mo., at her granddaughter's home. The Muhlenberg County native was a member of Pentecostals of Lonestar Church in Madisonville. She was a homemaker and licensed minister of the United Pentecostal Church International in St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Enos James Nance, in 1975; and a son, James Douglas Nance, in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Charles E. Nance of Horse Branch; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Praise Temple Apostolic Church in Madisonville. Burial will be in Odd Fellows cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville and after 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Alzheimer's Association or Praise Temple Apostolic Church, 725 W. Noel Ave., Madisonville, KY 42431.

Darrick Ray Lindsey

Darrick Ray Lindsey, 23, of Owensboro died there Sunday, May 13, 2001. The Daviess County native worked as a service technician for Ken's Beverage, attended Glenville Baptist Church and was a 1996 graduate of Apollo High School. He was an Army veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, served in Haiti and enjoyed auto racing, hunting, sports and home renovation. He was a certified open water diver.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Ronald and Susan Lindsey of Owensboro; his mother, Sandra Knight Lindsey of Owensboro; paternal grandmother, Zella Quinn of Sturgis; maternal grandmother, Marjorie Fulkerson of Sacramento; two sisters, Margie Baylis of Owensboro and Kimberly Merwine of Tower City, Pa.; several uncles and aunts; and two nephews.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 Thursday at the funeral home.

Linda Mae Dukes

DRAKESBORO -- Linda Mae Dukes, 73, of Hammond, Ind., formerly of Drakesboro, died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at St. Margaret's Hospital in Hammond. The Muhlenberg County native was an associate with our Lady of Perpetual Help Church of Hammond.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, E.J. Dukes; three sons, James Dukes, Tommy Dukes and Bobby Jo Dukes, all of Hammond; two daughters, Carolyn Stewart of Manchester and Theresa Garner of Asheboro, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Raydan Alexander of Drakesboro; three sisters, Geneva Blackwell of Central City, Dorothy Vincent of Owensboro and Loyella Booth of Bremen; and a niece.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Peanut Community cemetery in Drakesboro. Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the family.

Marlene E. Heerdink

EVANSVILLE -- Marlene E. Heerdink, 67, of Evansville died Monday, May 7, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital. The Detroit native was a member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church, St. Ann's Altar Society at St. Joseph Catholic Church, VFW Post 1114 Ladies Auxiliary and Ladies Owls. She graduated from Bosse High School, volunteered at Food Pantry and Mesker Park Zoo and had worked at Anchor Industries.

Survivors include three sons, Delbert Heerdink of Evansville, Thomas Alford of Chandler, Ariz., and Joseph Alford of Pahrump, Nev.; three daughters, Kim Gilliam of Evansville, Tamara Starnes of Lancaster, S.C., and Teresa Davis of California; 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Donna Foreman of Reynolds Station.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller & Miller Colonial Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Doris Janis Patterson

AUBURN -- Doris Janis Patterson, 99, of Auburn, formerly of Greenville, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, in Auburn Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. The Athens, Ohio, native retired from State Hospital in Athens, attended Ohio University in Athens and was a member of First Baptist Church in Greenville. Her husband, Ralph Patterson, died in 1970.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Garvey of Uniontown, Ohio; a granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove cemetery in Depoy. There is no visitation.

Kathleen Basham Elliott

Kathleen Basham Elliott, 72, of 812 Stone Street, Owensboro, died Tuesday, May 1, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Breckinridge County native retired from the Daviess County Board of Education after 19 years as a custodian, was a member of Phillips Chapel Pentecostal Church and enjoyed bird watching and reading. Her husband, Lonnie Elliott Sr., died in 1996.

Survivors include five sons, Lonnie Elliott Jr. and James David Elliott, both of Owensboro, Ronnie Edward Elliott of Granite City, Ill., Ralph Doyle Elliott of Mayfield and Richard Lee Elliott of Sacramento; three daughters, Doris Jean Boutcher, Sharon Paulette Mattingly and Betty Sue Hall, all of Owensboro; 24 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two half brothers, James Emmett Chism of Bowling Green and Thomas Lee Chism of Vine Grove; a half sister, Nola Jean Heimler of Muskegon, Mich., and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Friday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro chapel. Burial will be in Horsley Chapel cemetery in Breckinridge County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Phillips Chapel Building Fund, 500 Orchard St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Noel T. Bilbro

HARTFORD -- Noel T. Bilbro, 85, of Hartford died Sunday, May 13, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native retired from Peabody Coal Co.'s Alston Mine in 1980, was former owner/operator of Hartford Motel and a retired farmer. He was a Baptist and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by two sons, J.T. Bilbro on Nov. 21, 1994, and Sammy T. Bilbro on March 23, 2000.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Morris Bilbro; a son, Noel Wilson "Billy" Bilbro of Hartford; four daughters, Dorothy Root of Eddyville, Suzanna Wallace of Hartford, Naomi Fuqua of Shepherdsville and Annette Carter of Portland, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Norman Bilbro of Leesburg, Fla.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery in Hartford. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
