Illeana Searcy Buchanan, 73, of Owensboro died there Sunday, May 13, 2001. The McLean County native was former owner of Buchanan's Grocery in Livermore, was a member of Livermore United Methodist Church and enjoyed reading and playing cards.

Survivors include a son, Nick Buchanan of Livermore; a daughter, Susanne Nevitt of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeane Kuykenball of Frankfort.

Services are at 3 p.m. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Genevieve 'Genney' Sharpton

DEWEY, Okla. -- Genevieve 'Genney' Sharpton, 72, of Dewey died Saturday, April 28, 2001, at Jane Phillips Medical Center. The Knottsville native was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Bartlesville, Okla., the American Goat and Dairy Association and was active in showing and teaching others about goats at the Washington County Fair. She was a seamstress and enjoyed gardening, tending to her goats and making quilts.

Survivors include her husband, Donald Sharpton, three sons, Joseph Henry Sharpton, James Michael Sharpton and George Sharpton, all of Dewey; a daughter, Mary Whitney of Tulsa, Okla., 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Thomas E. Coomes of Owensboro; three sisters, Teresa Rose Obereitis of Medina, Ohio, Bernadette Howard of Owensboro and Cecilia Farrell of Holland, Mich.; a half sister, Catherine Waltrude Higdon of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services were held at St. John's Catholic Church in Bartlesville, Okla. Burial was in Dewey cemetery. Walker-Brown Funeral Home in Bartlesville was in charge of arrangements.

Ann Leonard Miller
11 May 2001

Ann Leonard Miller of 1530 Avon Place, Owensboro, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Springfield, Ill., native was a Presbyterian.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Frank Miller Jr.; a son, Frank Chris Miller III of Owensboro; two granddaughters; a brother, Dr. J. Lee Leonard of Lafayette, La.; two sisters, Sue Leonard of Parker, Colo., and Kay Jorgensen of Louisville; and several nephews and nieces.

There will be no services. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301 or Ronald McDonald House, 550 S. First St., Louisville, KY 40202.

Inetta Mae Beasley

CENTERTOWN -- Inetta Mae Beasley, 62, of Centertown died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Ohio County Hospital. The Ohio County native was a member of Lone Star General Baptist Church and worked as a janitor at Centertown Elementary and Western schools before retiring from Ohio County Board of Education.

Survivors include two daughters, Kelley Jones and Pam Crowder, both of Centertown; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are at 2 p.m. Thursday at Duke-Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Centertown. Burial will be in Lone Star cemetery near Centertown. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Marion Emma Williams

CENTRAL CITY -- Marion Emma Williams, 79, of Central City died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native was a member of Martwick Baptist Church. Her husband, Marvin Williams, died in 1992.

Survivors include three daughters, Peggy Williams of Central City, Sandra Sigers of Owensboro and Suzanne Dillihay of Bowling Green; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Jimmie Sheffield of Louisville; and two sisters, June Gross of Evansville and Rita Mayhugh of Central City.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Muhlenberg County Opportunity Center.

Keaton Ray Payne

Keaton Ray Payne, 7, of 2641 Wisteria Gardens, Owensboro, formerly of Knottsville, died Friday, May 4, 2001, at his home. The Daviess County native attended St. Williams Catholic Church and preschool at Highland and Country Heights elementary schools. He enjoyed tractors, cows and walking with his grandpa.

Survivors include his parents, Kevin G. Payne of Knottsville and Jacinta "Cindy" Payne of Owensboro; paternal grandmother, Joan Payne of Knottsville; maternal grandparents, Charles and Thelma Mattingly of Knottsville; paternal great-grandparents, Jim and Helen Payne of Knottsville; maternal great-grandmother, Charlesetta Pence of Knottsville; and several uncles, aunts and cousins.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Williams Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Williams cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after noon Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Battens Disease Support & Research Association, 120 Humphries Drive, Suite 2, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068.

James W. 'Jakie' Cauley

HENDERSON -- James W. "Jakie" Cauley, 56, of Henderson died there Monday, May 7, 2001, at Methodist Hospital. The Daviess County native was a boilermaker for Local 83 and an Army veteran. He enjoyed working on cars and doing mechanic work.

Survivors include a son, James M. Cauley of Henderson; a daughter, Susan Cauley of Bakersfield, Calif.; six grandchildren; two brothers, Billy Cauley of Owensboro and Eldred Cauley of Fordsville; and a sister, Martha Rolfzen of Omaha, Neb.

Memorial services are at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Visitation is after 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

E.D. Braden Sr.

CAIRO -- E.D. Braden Sr., 80, of Cairo, formerly of Owensboro, died Thursday, May 10, 2001, at Methodist Hospital in Henderson. The Owensboro native was a member of Cairo United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school. He was a member of Breckinridge County Masonic Lodge and had retired from the ASC office as a soil conservation technician. His wife, Clara Louise Braden, died Nov. 27, 1995.

Survivors include three sons, Donnie Braden of Sebree, Larry Braden of Bardstown and Mike Braden of Houston; a daughter, Beverly Bailey of Cairo; seven grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cairo United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home in Henderson and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Cairo United Methodist Church Building Fund or St. Anthony's Hospice.

Kenneth Levenhagen

DALE, Ind. -- Kenneth Levenhagen, 85, of Dale died Thursday, May 3, 2001, at Jasper Memorial Hospital. He was a LaPorte, Ind., native.

There are no survivors.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Fuller Funeral Home and Crematory, Dale chapel. Burial will be in Dale cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

Charles T. Bowers

LYNWOOD, Ill. -- Charles T. Bowers, 81, of Lynwood died there Tuesday, May 8, 2001. The Muhlenberg County native was a Pilgrim in the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was former president and member of Local 41 of the International Union of Hod Carriers in Hammond, Ind. His first wife, Mary Agnes Bowers, died in 1981.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Bowers; a son, Roger Bowers of San Diego; two stepdaughters, Darlene Nuno and Bonnie Arnold, both of Lynwood; two grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at New Cypress cemetery. Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville is handling arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Heart Association.

Elizabeth Louise Moore

LOUISVILLE -- Elizabeth Louise Moore, 87, of Louisville, formerly of Owensboro, died Wednesday, May 16, 2001, at Suburban Hospital in Louisville. The Owensboro native retired as a bank proofing department supervisor in Owensboro after 35 years and was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church in Louisville.

Survivors include six nephews and a niece.

Services are at 10 a.m. EST Saturday at St. Denis Catholic Church in Louisville. Entombment will be in Resurrection Catholic cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4:30 to 9 p.m. Friday at J.B. Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home in Louisville.

H. Steven Blevins

HENDERSON -- H. Steven Blevins, 49, of Henderson died there Thursday, May 10, 2001, at his home. The Owensboro native worked for the city of Henderson in the gas measurement distribution and was a Shriner. He enjoyed Indiana University sports, fishing, motorcycle riding, gardening and family time.

Survivors include his companion, Katie Butts; a son, Scott Blevins of Henderson; his father, Harry Blevins of Bedford, Ind.; two brothers, Harry Steven Blevins of Henderson and Mark L. Blevins of Franklin, Tenn.; and a sister, Valerie Hanks of Orleans, Ind.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Brushy Fork cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Shriner's Hospitals.
