MAYS LICK -- Mary Daugherty West Allison, 81, of Richmond, Va., died there Friday, June 29, 2001. The Mays Lick native was a Sunday school teacher and Woman's Missionary Leader in churches in Earlington, Sonora, Hopkinsville, Owensboro, Elizabethtown and New Market, Ohio. She graduated from Mays Lick High School and Bethel Women's College and taught elementary school in Minerva. Her son, Archie Wesley Allison Jr., died in 1966.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Archie W. Allison; a brother, Elmer S. West Jr. of Richmond, Va.; several nephews and nieces; and several cousins.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home in Mays Lick. Interment will be in Mays Lick cemetery. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Baptist Theological Seminary, 3400 Brook Road, Richmond, Va., 23227.

C. Thomas Craig

SHELBYVILLE -- C. Thomas Craig, 81, of Shelbyville died there Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Crestview Health Care Center. The Louisville native was an auctioneer and real estate broker, an elder and member of Shelbyville Church of Christ and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member and past president of Shelbyville Board of Realtors, member of the Louisville Board of Realtors and enjoyed golf and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy S. Craig; a son, Linzie T. Craig of Shelbyville; a daughter, Mollie Craig Herrick of Fairfield, Pa.; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen "Susie" Stout of Owensboro and Betty Craig Buckner of Roanoke, Va.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home in Shelbyville. Interment will be in Grove Hill cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation is from 1 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to C. Thomas Craig Academic Scholarship, Freed Hardeman University, 158 East Main St., Henderson, TN 38340.

Margaret Evelyn Clardy

BEECH CREEK -- Margaret Evelyn Clardy, 80, of Beech Creek died Tuesday, July 3, 2001, at her home. The Muhlenberg County native was a retired teacher from Hughes Kirk and Drakesboro schools, a member and Sunday school teacher at Hazel Creek Baptist Church for many years and a 27-year member of Order of the Eastern Star 489.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gail Clardy; a son, James Clardy of Beechmont; a daughter, Linda Brooks of Drakesboro; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Beechmont. Burial will be in Jackson cemetery in Beech Creek. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Eastern Star services are at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Agnes Keller

DIXON -- Agnes Keller, 84, of Dixon died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. The Webster County native was a housewife, treasurer of Slover Baptist Church for 35 years and enjoyed quilting.

Survivors include her husband, Noah Joe Keller; two sons, Jerry Keller of Owensboro and Eddie Keller of Dixon; a daughter, Jo Ann Scales of Evansville; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; two nephews; and three nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Slover Baptist Church in Dixon. Burial will be in Slover cemetery in Dixon. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon and after 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Beulah Mae McQuary

BRANDENBURG -- Beulah Mae McQuary, 89, of Brandenburg died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Hartford native had been a kindergarten teacher in Brandenburg, was a member of Brandenburg United Methodist Church and was active in United Methodist Women. She sang in the church choir for many years and was a member of Town & Country Homemakers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas R. McQuary, on May 4, 1986; and a daughter, Dianne Scott, in 1992.

Survivors include a son, Thomas M. McQuary of Irvington; a daughter, Janet McQuary Taylor of Philpot; six grandchildren; a brother, Charles Foster of Hartford; and two sisters, Gladys Heflin of Livermore and Marie Miller of Owensboro.

Services are at 11 a.m. EDT Wednesday at Brandenburg United Methodist Church. Graveside services are at 2:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday at Bells Run cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. EDT today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Bruington-Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home in Brandenburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Brandenburg United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Mary Louise Duncan
4 July 2001

PHILPOT -- Mary Louise Duncan, 68, of Philpot died Monday, July 2, 2001, at her home. The Owensboro native had been employed as an executive secretary to the general manager of Owensboro Municipal Utilities and a teacher's aide at Whitesville Elementary School. She was an active member of Dawson Baptist Church, served on many committees and as a pianist in the church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Glenn R. Duncan; two sons, Ed Duncan of Dallas and Tim Duncan of Mount Juliet, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Ed Sinclair of Owensboro and Robert L. Sinclair of Nashville.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Dawson Baptist Church, 5830 Kentucky 54, Philpot, KY 42366.

James Wendell Hardwick
4 July 2001

MARIETTA, Ga. -- James Wendell Hardwick, 84, of Marietta died there Monday, June 2, 2001, at Cobb Hospital. The Owensboro native retired as a major from the Air Force after 13 years, was an instructor in the Mathematics Department and a flight instructor at Southern Technical Institute for seven years, and a Baptist. He was an Army veteran and member of American Mathematical Society, Reserve Officers Association and Retired Officers Association.

There are no immediate survivors.

Graveside services are at 4 p.m. Friday at Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. There is no visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Pamela Ann Scott

HUDSON -- Pamela Ann Scott, 32, of Hudson died Saturday, July 21, 2001, at Hardin Memorial Hospital from injuries suffered in an automobile accident in Elizabethtown. The Hardinsburg native worked for Kentucky Corrections Cabinet and attended Hudson Community Church.

Survivors include her husband, Greg Scott; a son, Bryan G. Scott of Hudson; a daughter, Kelly Scott of Hudson; her mother and stepfather, Deborah and Joe Wilson of Hardinsburg; her father, David Brown of Vine Grove; her grandmother, Madeline Harper of Hardinsburg; two brothers, Trent Brown of Irvington and Craig Brown of Hawesville; two sisters, Laura Hines and Jennifer Woods, both of Hardinsburg; five half brothers and half sisters; several nephews and nieces; and several uncles and aunts.

Services are at noon Wednesday at Hudson Community Church. Burial will be in Hudson cemetery. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates.

Eula Goodall Wethington

Eula Goodall Wethington, 80, of 2425 South Cherokee Drive, Owensboro, died Monday, July 23, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Catholic Church. Her husband, Thomas D. Wethington Sr., died Nov. 28, 1980.

Survivors include two sons, Gerald E. Wethington of Mackinaw, Ill., and Thomas D. Wethington Jr. of Nashville; three daughters, Linda S. Rose of Argenta, Ill., Sandra M. Taylor of Winchester and Judith A. Phillips of Rockford, Ill.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Goodall and Neil Goodall, both of Owensboro; and two sisters, Eulema Goodall and Winnie Head, both of Owensboro.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Madge Atkinson Brown

ROCKPORT, Ind. -- Madge Atkinson Brown, 75, of Rockport died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at her home from natural causes. The Rockport native was a homemaker and member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport. She enjoyed gardening, animals and singing in the choir. Her husband, Jay R. Brown, died in 1990.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Atkinson and John Atkinson, both of Rockport, and David Atkinson of Owensboro; two daughters, Gretchen Adkisson of Rockport and Rachel Byrd of Owensboro; two stepdaughters, Laurel B. Montgomery and Kathryn B. Williams; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and a sister, Virginia Lutgring of St. Marks, Ind.

Services are pending at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport, Ind. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Bernard's School Scholarship Fund or any charity of choice.

Victor M. Evans Sr.

Victor M. Evans Sr., 52, of 2941 Greenhill Drive, Owensboro, died Sunday, July 22, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native worked for Frito Lay, Inc. in the sales department for 20 years and was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church. He graduated from Brescia College in 1974, coached baseball at Southern Little League for 17 years and enjoyed playing golf, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Margaret Kula Evans; three sons, Victor M. Evans Jr., Andy Evans and Nicholas Evans, all of Owensboro; four grandchildren; his father, Jordan H. Evans of Philpot; a brother, Melvyn Evans of Jasper, Ind.; and four sisters, Janice Pike, Donna McKinley, Majella Mills and Mary Boarman, all of Whitesville.

Services are at noon Wednesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Southern Little League, c/o Perry Higdon, President, 2900 Delaware Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Lucille Simpson Phelps

LEITCHFIELD -- Lucille Simpson Phelps, 85, of Leitchfield died there Sunday, July 1, 2001, at Grayson Manor Nursing Home. She was a housewife and attended Hopewell General Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by two sons, Wayne Phelps and William Simpson.

Survivors include four sons, Elmer Simpson of Beaver Dam, Joe Simpson of Horse Branch, Charles Simpson of Louisville and Warren Simpson of Greenville; four daughters, Eva Crawford of Louisville, Addie Renfrow of Horse Branch, Phyllis Mudd of Morgantown and Linda Ford of Caneyville; 32 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dermitt Funeral Home in Caneyville. Interment will be in Deweese cemetery in Caneyville. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
