Harry Eldridge Jones, 77, of 316 Hale Ave., Apt. 11A, Owensboro, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Evansville native was a painter, a Baptist and enjoyed fishing, camping and repairing lawn mowers. A son, George Thomas Jones Jr., died in 1973.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Betty Jean Jones; four daughters, Alice Self, Judy Wedding, Barbara Hagan and Martha Foster, all of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services are at noon Thursday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Inurnment will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dorothy G. Pulliam Cartwright Masturzo

AKRON, Ohio -- Dorothy G. Pulliam Cartwright Masturzo, 75, of Akron died Friday, Aug. 24, 2001. The Owensboro native was a homemaker, cooked and cared for ailing family members, cooked for many area bingo halls and enjoyed bingo.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Masturzo; a son, Jesse Cartwright; a daughter, Patricia Metcalf; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Kenny Pulliam, Raymond Pulliam and Tommy Pulliam; and a sister, Ruby Pulliam.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Church in Barberton, Ohio. Interment will be in Holy Cross cemetery in Barberton. Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dunn & Quigley, Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home in Akron. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Holy Trinity Church, c/o Dunn & Quigley, Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 811 Grant St., Akron, OH.

Edwina A. Carden
27 August 2001

Edwina A. Carden, 77, of 1116 Hickman Ave., Owensboro, died there Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001. The Owensboro native was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, where she played an active part in the Friendship House, and a volunteer for 28 years at the Daviess-McLean Baptist Center. Her husband, Shirley W. Carden, died Aug. 17, 2001.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosetta Guess of Panama City, Fla., Linda Carden of Louisville and Kathi Blanco of Owensboro; three grandchildren; and a brother, James Ziemer of Owensboro.

Services are at 3 p.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Daviess-McLean Baptist Center, 1003 Scherm Road, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Adam D. Jarvis
20 August 2001

Adam D. Jarvis, 19, of 2815 1/2 Veach Road, Owensboro, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System from cardiac arrest. The Owensboro native worked at OMHS as a grill cook, was a member of First Baptist Church and a 2000 graduate of Daviess County High School.

Survivors include his parents, Steve and Sue Jarvis of Owensboro; several uncles and aunts; and several cousins.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Vance D. Turner
7 August 2001

LEWISPORT -- Vance D. Turner, 59, of Lewisport died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at his home. The Owensboro native retired from Alumax Aluminum as a maintenance mechanic and enjoyed antique farm machinery and the outdoors.

Survivors include a son, Terry D. Turner of Vincennes, Ind.; two grandchildren; his father, Vance Lee Turner of Honolulu; and his mother, Myrtle Brown of Owensboro.

There are no services or visitation. Taylor-Raymond-Spear Funeral Home in Lewisport is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

Danny Joel 'Boone' Jackson
29 July 2001

Danny Joel "Boone" Jackson, 56, of Whitesville died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Hancock County native was an oil field worker and carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Jackson; two sons, Danny Jackson Jr. and David Allen Jackson, both of Fordsville; two daughters, Stacy Payne of Hartford and Teresa Jackson of Louisville; nine grandchildren; four brothers, Jewell Jackson, Gayle Jackson and Lendall Jackson, all of Owensboro, and Quinton Jackson of Bowling Green; and three sisters, Juanita McManaway of Boling Chapel, Arlene Jarboe of Hawesville and Remonda Pierce of McQuady.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville. Burial will be in Bethlehem cemetery in Hancock County. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Charles Hosie Graddy
29 July 2001

CENTRAL CITY -- Charles Hosie Graddy, 70, of Central City died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. The Hopkins County native was a mechanic at Shelby Wheel and Tire in Madisonville, a member of Mount Pisgah Church and a Korean War veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Nell Nelson Graddy; a son, Bruce Wayne Graddy of Central City; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Elisha Graddy of Baltimore, J.D. Graddy of Nortonville and Robert Graddy of Lanesville, Ind.; and seven sisters, Lucille Glaysbrook and Nora Dixon, both of Madisonville, Nan Morgan of South Bend, Ind., Elmira Ritter of Merritt Island, Fla., Catherine Pleasant of Goshen, Ind., Doshia Crump of Leitchfield and Mae Priar of Calhoun.

Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Loraine R. Dickman
29 July 2001

JASPER, Ind. -- Loraine R. Dickman, 80, of Jasper died Friday, July 27, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. The Tell City, Ind., native retired in 1988 from Kimball International after 40 years, previously worked at Tell City Furniture Co. and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was a World War II Army veteran, member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Knights of Columbus and Moose Lodge. He enjoyed cards, baseball and fishing. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Dilger Dickman.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemary Holman Dickman; a son, R. Edward Dickman of Tell City; a daughter, Darla J. Sallee of Bloomington, Ind.; a stepson, Michael Smith of Winslow, Ind.; two stepdaughters, Ardella Foster of Tupelo, Miss., and Deborah Mulzer of Tell City; nine grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert Dickman of Jasper and George Dickman of Noblesville, Ind.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City. Burial with military graveside rites will be in Fairview cemetery in Jasper. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City Chapel. Parish prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Moose Lodge memorial service will follow. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Paul or St. Joseph catholic churches.

Cordie Irene Christian

Cordie Irene Christian, 96, of Owensboro died Saturday, July 28, 2001, at Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro. The Owensboro native was a homemaker and member of Woodlawn Methodist Church. Her husband, Edwin Walter Christian, died June 19, 1975.

Survivors include a son, Robert Earl Christian of Owensboro; six granddaughters; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ann's Chapel at Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Entombment will be in Resurrection cemetery. There will be no visitation. Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville is handling arrangements.

Mildred Gideon Erwin

Mildred Gideon Erwin, 78, of 3709 Thruston Dermont Road, Owensboro, died Friday, July 6, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Owensboro native was a member of First Baptist Church, Philpot Homemakers and Service Sunday school class. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and spending time with family. Her husband, Edwin D. "Bud" Erwin, died Nov. 28, 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Edwin D. Erwin Jr. of Louisville, Larry Erwin of Clovis, N.M., and Mark L. Erwin of Atlanta; a daughter, Debra DeJarnette of Largo, Fla.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wanda Ballew of Owensboro.

Services are at 2:30 p.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 6 p.m. today and after noon Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children, 10200 Linn Station Road, Suite 200, Louisville, KY 40223-9964.

Marjorie L. Hankins
28 July 2001

Marjorie L. Hankins, 82, of 604 Elm St., Owensboro, died Thursday, July 26, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Owensboro native was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church, Willing Workers, Kentucky Colonels, Volunteers of Foreign Wars Auxiliary 696, Amaranth Chapter 46 Order of the Easter Star and Owensboro Homemakers. She was a retired beautician and loved to read, grow flowers, cook and make crafts. Her son Nathaniel C. Thompson died March 4, 2001.

Survivors include her husband, Jesse Hankins; a son, Monnie Hankins of Louisville; a daughter, Jean A. Coleman of Owensboro; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, William Watson of Owensboro; a sister, S. Wayne Kuykendall of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Monday at Fourth Street Baptist Church. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church. Order of Eastern Star services will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church. McFarland Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements.

Joe F. Troutman
28 July 2001

LIVERMORE -- Joe F. Troutman, 95, of Livermore died there Thursday, July 26, 2001, at his daughter's home. The McLean County native was a farmer and retired from the state highway department. He was a member and deacon of Old Buck Creek Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. His wife, Pearlie D. Troutman, died Oct. 10, 1974; his son, Kenneth E. Troutman, died Jan. 5, 1998; and his daughter, Beatrice Stallings, died Dec. 15, 1996.

Survivors include two daughters, Ann Mauzy and Pat Hyde, both of Livermore; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, A. Roy Troutman of Calhoun.

Services are at 3 p.m. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is after 4 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Joe F. Troutman's great-grandson, The Jacob Whitt Fund, c/o ABC Bank, P.O. Box 130; Calhoun, KY 42327.
