FULDA, Ind. -- Bryan Gerlach, 24, of Fulda died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, in Troy, Ind., from injuries suffered in an auto accident. The Owensboro native graduated from Heritage Hills High School in 1995 and Nashville Automotive Diesel School in 1996. He was an auto mechanic at Cochenour Chrysler Plymouth Jeep Dealership in Tell City, Ind., and a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda and Knights of Columbus in St. Meinrad, Ind. He enjoyed professional wrestling.

Survivors include his parents, Paul and Sharon Gerlach of Fulda; grandmothers, Amy Gerlach of Tell City and Ethel Tate of Cannelton, Ind.; a brother, Nick Gerlach, at home; a sister, Stephanie Klem of St. Meinrad; a nephew and a niece; and several uncles and aunts.

Services are at 10 a.m. EST Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 9:15 a.m. at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Prayers and Knights of Columbus services are at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to a favorite charity.

Clarence 'Red' Hayes

Clarence "Red" Hayes, 49, of 6754 Lamplite Circle, Owensboro, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2001, at his home. The Grayson County native was former owner of Red's Auto Electric and retired from Tylers Auto Electric. He was a mechanic and a Baptist.

Survivors include three brothers, George Hayes of Louisville, and Lenard "Shorty" Hayes and Lonnie Johnson, both of Owensboro; two sisters, Loretta Hamilton of Owensboro and Darlene Berry of Maceo; a half sister, Birdy Stone of Grayson County; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Donna Bernice McDaniel
19 November 2001

Donna Bernice McDaniel, 92, of 2237 Hoop Junior Court, Owensboro, died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2001, at Hermitage Manor. She was a licensed practical nurse, a Catholic and enjoyed gardening, yard work and caring for others and animals. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norbert McDaniel.

Survivors include a half sister, Esther Gregory of Owensboro.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rosehill cemetery, Peace Chapel, in Owensboro. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro.

Joseph Wesley 'Bud' Gray

HAWESVILLE -- Joseph Wesley "Bud" Gray, 75, of Hawesville died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Hancock County native was a farmer, a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Hawesville, and he retired from Kentucky State Highway Department.

Survivors include a brother, Thomas Faught of Hawesville; four sisters, Nellie Powers of Hawesville, Henrietta Terres of Bemidji, Minn., Dorothy Beard of Evansville and Betty Patterson of Oskaloosa, Kan.; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hawesville. Burial will be in Mount Calvary cemetery in Hawesville. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Friday and until 10 a.m. Saturday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Building Fund.

Gladys L. Rogers

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Gladys. L. Rogers, 84, of Tell City died there Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001, at Oakwood Health Campus. The Tell City native was a member of First Baptist Church in Tell City and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Holbert Lee Rogers.

Survivors include two sons, Michael D. Rogers of Tell City and Owen L. Gordan of Evansville; a daughter, Barbara E. Wiram of Evansville; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a brother, Simpson Arnold Jr. of Tell City; and a sister, Hazel Howell of Tell City.

Services are at 1 p.m. EST Saturday at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery in Tell City. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Baptist Church.

Breeze Demarco Moorman
18 November 2001

Breeze Demarco Moorman, infant son of James Moorman and Tammy Roll of 27F Harry Smith Apartments, Owensboro, died Friday, Nov. 16, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.

Other survivors include paternal grandparents, Phillip and Joyce Moorman of Owensboro; maternal grandmother, Bonnie Embry of Owensboro; three brothers, Aaron James Brown of Owensboro and James Jamar Moorman and David Deron Moorman, both of Sacramento, Calif.; three sisters, Kansas Marie Brown of Owensboro, Jalai Marie Brown, at home, and Joyce Moorman of Sacramento; several uncles and aunts; and several cousins.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Margaret B. Stein
16 November 2001

KILLEEN, Texas -- Margaret B. Stein, 89, of Killeen died there Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001. The Utica native worked educating and providing for the mentally and physically disabled. She established the Shelter Workshop in the Owensboro Opportunity Center and at the Hugh Sandefur Training Center in Henderson. She was a member of The Woman's Society of Christian Service and Order of the Easter Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Stein.

Survivors include a son, William A. Stein of Newport Beach, Calif.; a daughter, Deva S. Drake of Killeen; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside memorial services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Rose Hill cemetery in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The Hugh Edward Sandefur Training Center, 1449 Corporate Court, Henderson, KY 42420. Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Killeen is handling arrangements.

Daisy Cole

HAWESVILLE -- Daisy Cole, 63, of Hawesville died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2001, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City, Ind. The Hancock County native was a member of Easton Community Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Cole.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Joe Cole; four sons, Frankie Cole, James Ray Cole and Dale Cole, all of Hawesville, and Leroy Cole of Tobinsport, Ind.; four daughters, Joann Sapp and Jeanette Conner, both of Lewisport, Debbie Cole of Pensacola, Fla., and Eva Patterson of Hawesville; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; four brothers, O.W. Tindle, Waldo Tindle and Reuben Tindle, all of Hawesville, and John Tindle of St. Augustine, Fla.; eight sisters, Mary Young, Dorothy Payne, Peggy Smith and Joann Decker, all of Hawesville, Genevie Knoops and Mattie Johnson, both of Louisville, Pauline Smith of Fordsville and Anna Hoarsley of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Burial will be in Mount Eden Baptist Church cemetery near Hawesville. Visitation is after 3 p.m. Tuesday and until 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mary N. Brasher
29 November 2001

Mary N. Brasher, 84, of Owensboro, formerly of Greenville, died Monday, Nov. 26, 2001, at her home after several months of illness. The Louisville native had worked at Western Kentucky University as a banquet supervisor and was a member of State Street United Methodist Church in Bowling Green. Her husband, Bill Brasher, died in March, 1944.

Survivors include a daughter, Billie Sue Maxwell of Owensboro; a sister, Edna Sparks of Marquand, Mo.; a nephew and a niece; and several cousins.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Pleasant Hill cemetery or Hospice Association Inc. of Owensboro.

Jessie H. Powell

BEECHMONT -- Jessie H. Powell, 86, of Beechmont died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Metzmier Nursing Home in Campbellsville. The Todd County native was a machinist at East Chicago Tool & Die. His wife, Lucy Orvetta Powell, died in 1995.

Survivors include a son, Curtis E. Powell of Belton; and 10 grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial will be in Forest Grove cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Visitation is after 8 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Charles W. Loyal
3 October 2001

UTICA -- Charles W. Loyal, 86, of Utica died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Ohio County native retired as Daviess County Soil and Water District conservationist after 31 years and was charter member and deacon of Lewis Lane Baptist Church. He was a founding member of Daviess County Lions Club, former member and deacon at Utica Baptist Church and an Army captain veteran of World War II. A son, William Taylor Loyal, died in 1992.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Bettie Howard Loyal; two sons, Stephen Howard Loyal of Owensboro and Charles Edward Loyal of Franklin, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Pruett of Greensboro, N.C.

Services are at 10 a.m. Friday at Lewis Lane Baptist Church in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Kentucky Baptist Children's Home, 10200 Linn Station Road, Suite 200, Louisville, KY 40223-9964.
