The Rev. Lester Lee Nash

DANVILLE -- The Rev. Lester Lee Nash, 72, of Danville died Friday, Nov. 30, 2001, at Ephrim McDowell Hospital. The Maceo native was a Baptist minister for 47 years and retired from Airline Baptist Church in Henderson in 1991. He graduated from Bosse High School and attended Tennessee Temple Seminary in Chattanooga, Tenn. He had served on the executive board of the Southern Baptist Convention and of the Kentucky Baptist Convention.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Idella Jennings Nash; a son, Jeffrey Nash of Somerset; four daughters, Threasha Hendricks and Belinda Jo Birdsey, both of Norfolk, Va., Deanna Whittamore of Estero, Fla., and Gina Melton of Danville; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Clarence Nash of Columbus, Ohio; and three sisters, Kathrine Crawford and Virginia Miller, both of Owensboro, and Sidney Wedding of St. Louis.

Services are at 1 p.m. EST Monday at First Baptist Church in Danville. Burial will be private. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home in Danville and from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Robert H. 'Bob' Baxter

CENTRAL CITY -- Robert H. "Bob" Baxter, 66, of Central City died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Muhlenberg County native retired from Peabody as an electrician and was a member of Martwick Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Anna Kirby Bratcher Baxter; three sons, Jon Baxter, Sam Baxter and Mark Bratcher, all of Central City; two daughters, Mary Pat Shemwell of Central City and Belinda Goff of Browder; eight grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Bernard Baxter of Lexington Park, Md.; and three sisters, Anita Anderson of Central City, Virginia Cummins of South Carrollton and Marion Werner of Bethlehem, Pa.

Services are at 1 p.m. Friday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Wilma Hayden Terry
3 December 2001

Wilma Hayden Terry, 88, of 2501 Old Hartford Road, Owensboro, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at her home. The Daviess County native was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting and needlework. She was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella and Golden Care. Her husband, Roy Lee "Jack" Terry, died in 1988.

Survivors include two sons, Hubert Terry and Robert Eugene Terry, both of Owensboro; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Hamilton of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Mother Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Mater Dolorosa cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to H.O.S.A., c/o Owensboro Technical College, 1510 Frederica St., Owensboro, KY 42301.

Brian Jason 'B.J.' Husk

Brian Jason "B.J." Husk, 25, of 1820 Churchill Drive, Owensboro, died Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2001, at his home. The Owensboro native enjoyed gardening, traveling and working on his computer.

Survivors include his companion, Kevin Andrew Rice of Owensboro; his parents, Roger Dale and Wanda Husk of Lewisport; paternal grandmother, Mary Shannon of Owensboro; two brothers, Roger Dale Husk II and Kenneth Wayne Husk, both of Owensboro; a sister, Sherry Gail Calcaterra of Owensboro; and several nephews and nieces.

Memorial services are at 6 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Visitation is after 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association Inc., Memorial Fund, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301-9979.

Vernon Franklin Stilwell
1 December 2001

HARDINSBURG -- Vernon F. Stilwell, 51, of Hardinsburg died there Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Breckinridge County Memorial Hospital. The Illinois native was a civil service employee.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Bagby Stilwell; a son, Gary Stilwell of Hardinsburg; a daughter, Laura Stilwell of Hardinsburg; two grandchildren; and his mother, Mary Stilwell of Hardinsburg.

Services are at 2 p.m. Sunday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in Durham-Stilwell cemetery in Hardinsburg. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Gordon Lee Bronson

GRAHAM -- Gordon Lee Bronson, 63, of Graham died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. The Holland, Mich., native was a laborer with Kentucky Department of Highways.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be in Graham cemetery. Visitation is after 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Joseph L. Lauzon
26 November 2001

Joseph L. Lauzon, 79, of 2031 Westview Drive, Owensboro, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at his home. The Gladstone, Mich., native retired from General Electric Co. after 35 years and was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He was a life member of Knights of Columbus, a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and enjoyed parish work, woodworking, family gatherings and volunteering at the Daniel Pitino Shelter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Baumgarten Lauzon, on May 14, 1994; a son, the Rev. Peter Lauzon, on Aug. 11, 1995; and a daughter, Harriett "Happy" Lauzon, on April 28, 1997.

Survivors include a son, Dr. John Lauzon of Owensboro; two daughters, Susie Masters and Anne O'Bryan, both of Owensboro; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a brother, Edward Lauzon of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; and three sisters, Eva Tubbs of Glendale, Ariz., and Marie Novack and Rita Porath, both of Gladstone.

Services are at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from 2 to 7 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. Joseph 'Joe' Warren Schnepp
3 December 2001

Joseph "Joe" Warren Schnepp, 77, of 2830 Daviess St., Owensboro, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at his home. The Sangamon, Ill., native retired from Kentucky state parks as executive chef and was a Catholic. He was an Air Force pilot veteran of World War II and enjoyed hunting, fishing and wood working.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Shirlie Dunn Schnepp; two sons, Dennis Schnepp and Marc Schnepp, both of Owensboro; a daughter, Cindy Bond of Owensboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, James Schnepp of Missouri.

Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery in Owensboro. Visitation is from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mary Roberta Morris

Mary Roberta Morris, 82, of 2743 Wimsatt Court, Owensboro, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Leisure Years Nursing Home in Owensboro. The Lewisport native retired as a teacher after 25 years and taught at Philpot Elementary and Hickman County schools. She was a member of Dawson Baptist Church and the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association and graduated from Murray State University. She enjoyed reading, floral gardening and receiving visitors at her home. Her husband, James Merritt Morris, died in 1982.

Survivors include a son, James E. "Jim" Morris of Owensboro; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Rosehill cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Kentucky Baptist Children's Home.

Paul Eli Ferry

HARNED -- Paul Eli Ferry, 77, of Harned died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2001, at his home. The McDaniels native was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Stilwell Ferry; three sons, Paul Edward Ferry of Falls of Rough, Denver Ferry of Westview and Ben Ferry of Harned; two daughters, Barbara Mattingly of Harned and Shirley Huffines of McQuady; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four brothers, Roy Ferry, Foy Ferry and Joe Ferry, all of Hardinsburg, and Leonard Ferry of Illinois; and three sisters, Charlotte Lucas of SeRee, Vitula Bradley of Wisconsin and Dora Ann Wright of Cloverport.

Services are at 1 p.m. Thursday at Corinth Baptist Church in Breckinridge County. Burial will be in McDaniels cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 8:30 a.m. Thursday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Zella L. East Deom
28 November 2001

TELL CITY, Ind. -- Zella L. East Deom, 88, of Tell City died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001, at her home. The Sulphur, Ind., native was a homemaker and former nursing assistant at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening, quilting and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Henry Earl East in 1964 and Cletus Deom in 1987.

Survivors include a son, Robert Earl East of Santa Claus, Ind.; two grandsons; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 10 a.m. EST Thursday at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City, Ind. Burial will be in Jefferies cemetery in Oriole, Ind. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Huber Funeral Home, Tell City chapel. Prayers will be said at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Paul Catholic Church, Jefferies cemetery or Visiting Nurse Association Hospice.

Mark R. Reed
8 December 2001

NEWMAN -- Mark R. Reed, 69, of Newman died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at his home. The Hancock County native retired from Owensboro Municipal Utilities after 27 years of service and was a Baptist. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of Masonic Lodge 130 and Ancient Arabic Order Nobles of the Mystic Shrine and a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Survivors include a son, Mark R. Reed Jr. of Owensboro; a daughter, Penny Wathen of Newman; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro. Burial will be in Roseville cemetery in Hancock County. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today, from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 8:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
