BEAVER DAM - Clyde Neal Baggarly, 67, of Beaver Dam died Sunday, March 17, 2002, at his home. The Ohio County native retired from Peabody Graham Hill Coal Mine and was a member of Pond Run Baptist Church near Echols.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Faye Williams Baggarly; a son, James Neal Baggarly of Echols; three stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; his mother, Alder Baggarly of Echols; three brothers, Lendon Baggarly of Echols, Billy Baggarly of Bardstown and James L. Baggarly of Owensboro; and a sister, Shirley Dowell of Beaver Dam.

Services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at William L. Danks Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will be in Pond Run cemetery in Echols. Visitation is from 3 to 9 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Richard A. 'Sarge' Hagan

HAHIRA, Ga. - Richard A. "Sarge" Hagan, 69, of Hahira, formerly of Daviess County, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002, at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. The Reed native retired from the Air Force and was a Baptist.

Survivors include a son, Richard Hagan of Dublin, Ga.; four daughters, Debbie Rowe of Hahira, Margie Clements of Ray City, Ga., Susan May of Valdosta, Ga., and Brenda Hagan of Vine Grove; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Odie Hagan of Glendale, N.Y., Paul Hagan of Newburgh, Ind., and Bob Hagan of Baskett; and a sister, Anna Huff of Bowling Green.

Graveside services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Georgia. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Carson McLane Funeral Home in Valdosta. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Pearlman Comprehensive Cancer Center at South Georgia Medical Center.

Barbara M. Murray Dillow

ELIDA, Ohio - Barbara M. Murray Dillow, 55, of Elida died Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. The Owensboro native was office manager at Northwest Ohio Towing. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Aimee Dillow.

Survivors include two daughters, Alecia Hayes and Andrea Pritchard; four grandchildren; a sister, Marylin Grace; and two nieces.

Services are at 3 p.m. EDT Tuesday at DiCicco & Sons Funeral Home in Cleveland. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Olive cemetery in Chattanooga, Tenn. Visitation is after 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 1422 Euclid Ave., Cleveland, OH 44115.

Virginia Robbins Hagerman

STEPHENSPORT - Virginia Robbins Hagerman, 74, of Stephensport died Wednesday, March 20, 2002, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital in Hardinsburg. The Breckinridge County native retired from retail stores as a sales clerk, was a member of Stephensport Baptist Church and enjoyed reading, quilting and crafts.

Survivors include her mother, Louise Robbins of Stephensport; two brothers, Alvin Robbins Jr. of Hardinsburg and Waymond Robbins of Stephensport; two sisters, Mary Jo Vincent of Owensboro and Sue Swope of Philpot; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial will be in New Bethel cemetery in Hardinsburg. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Karl Kreisle
29 March 2002

HAWESVILLE - Karl Kreisle, 76, of Hawesville died Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City, Ind. The Hawesville native was a member and former trustee of Hawesville Baptist Church and a former club champion at Windward Heights Country Club. He was a brick mason and an Air Corps veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Hazel Parker Kreisle; two daughters, Judy Kreisle Vornholt of Sellersburg, Ind., and Karla Kreisle Hahus of Tell City; three grandchildren; a brother, Donald Kreisle of Cannelton, Ind.; four sisters, Evelyn DeLong of Stow, Ohio, Barbara Unser of Illinois, Mary Buck of Hawesville and Sandra Johnson of Louisville; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawesville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Hawesville. Visitation is after 2 p.m. today and until 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Gibson & Son Funeral Home in Hawesville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Indiana or Hawesville Baptist Church.

Rena Mae Daugherty
31 March 2002

CENTERTOWN - Rena Mae Daugherty, 79, of Centertown died Friday, March 29, 2002, at Ohio County Hospital. The McLean County native attended Lonestar General Baptist Church. Her husband, Woodford Fay Daugherty, died in 1995.

Survivors include three sons, Marlin James Daugherty and Alex Roger Daugherty, both of Centertown, and Charles Edward Daugherty of Beaver Dam; a daughter, Catherine Louise Woods of Centertown; 12 grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Simpson of Junction City and Hubert Simpson of Lebanon; a sister, Dora Williams of Centertown; and several nephews and nieces.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Duke-Bevil Brothers Funeral Home in Centertown. Burial will be in Daugherty Family cemetery near Centertown. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Lester D. Pettit Jr.

CHRISNEY, Ind. - Lester D. Pettit Jr., 36, of Chrisney died Saturday, March 23, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. The Owensboro native was an equipment operator and a member of Landmark Apostolic Bible Church in Rockport, Ind.

Survivors include his wife of 3 years, Neva Pettit; his parents, Lester D. Pettit and Margaret L. Hutchinson, both of Rockport; four brothers, Glendon R. Hutchison of Rockport, Marty Hutchison of Londonberry, Ohio, Daniel R. Hutchison of Tell City, Ind., and Michael A. Pettit of Owensboro; and five sisters, Katherine A. Murry of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Flossie E. Hutchison and Opal M. Pettit, both of Rockport, Margaret A. Hutchison of Londonberry and Debbie K. Pate of Newtonville, Ind.

Services are at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Boultinghouse Funeral Home in Rockport. Burial will be in New Hope cemetery in Newtonville. Visitation is from 1 to 8 p.m. today and after 8 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Pettit Family for funeral expenses, P.O. Mary Jo Gregory

POWDERLY - Mary Jo Gregory, 62, of Powderly died Monday, March 25, 2002, at her home. The Muhlenberg County native was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Thomas Gregory; four sons, David Edward Buckles of Rineyville, Steven Randall Buckles of Gastonia, N.C., Billy Daniel Buckles of White Mills and Michael Ray Buckles of Murray; a daughter, Brenda Lee Goode of Lexington; two stepdaughters, Donna Gregory of Powderly and Karen Terry of Central City; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Virgil Ray Lee of Greenville; and two sisters, June Key of Petersburg, Va., and Anna Belle Myers of Lexington Park, Md.

Graveside services are at 2 p.m. today at Nebo cemetery. Tucker Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of arrangements.

David E. Dixon

EVANSVILLE - David E. Dixon, 71, of Evansville, formerly of Cannelton, Ind., died Thursday, March 14, 2002, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville. The Cannelton native retired in 1988 from Alcoa after 22 years, was a veteran of the Army and Air Force and a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1114 in Evansville, Harry G. Myers American Legion Post 142 in Cannelton and First United Methodist Church in Cannelton. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ingle Dixon; and a son, David Earl Dixon Jr.

Survivors include a son, Todd Dixon of Tell City; a stepson, Dan Stillwell of Tell City, Ind.; a stepdaughter, Sharon Eble of Boonville, Ind.; two grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Marion Dixon of Newburgh, Ind.; and a sister, Marjorie Zellers of Cannelton.

Services are at noon EST Saturday at Huber Funeral Home-Tell City chapel. Burial will be in New Cliff cemetery in Cannelton. Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Emily Murphy Pruitt

GREENVILLE - Emily Murphy Pruitt, 65, of Greenville died there Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital. The Robertson County, Tenn., native retired from Greenville Housing Authority as executive director and was a member of First Christian Church in Greenville.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Pruitt; three sons, Bruce Murphy of Manassas, Va., Mike Murphy of Central City and Matt Murphy of Indianapolis; a daughter, Leslie Scruggs of Clarksville, Tenn.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services are at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Greenville. Burial will be in Old Liberty cemetery in Greenville. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. today and after 11 a.m. Saturday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. The body will lie in state after noon Saturday at the church. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Sara Murphy Scholarship Fund at Second Baptist Church in Greenville.

Elias Evans

CALHOUN - Elias Evans, 88, of Calhoun died Monday, April 1, 2002, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The McHenry native was a retired farmer and member of Calhoun Holiness Church. He was an Army veteran of the World War II South Pacific Theater, served as a heavy machine gunner for more than four years and was a member of McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 5415 in Calhoun.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elsie Carter Evans; two sons, Ronnie Evans of Calhoun and Eddie Evans of Webster County; four daughters, Brenda Redfern and Myrtle Rickard, both of Sacramento, and Golda Evans and Nancy Butler, both of Calhoun; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services are at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in Calhoun cemetery with military honors conducted by McLean County VFW Memorial Post 5415. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Wendell Lee Griffith Sr.

Wendell Lee Griffith Sr., 63, of 1200 W. 1st St., Owensboro, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Daviess County native retired from Wendell Griffith Construction Co. as a self-employed contractor and was a member of Church of God. He was an evangelist and pastor at Way Truth and Life Mission and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Josie Griffith; a son, Wendell Lee Griffith Jr. of Franklin; two daughters, Patricia Ann Pate and Mary Jacquline Snodgrass, both of Owensboro; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Griffith, Larry Griffith and Darryl Griffith, all of Owensboro; and two sisters, Betty Mills of Owensboro and Peggy Gohl of Sanger, Texas.

Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at James H. Davis Funeral Home chapel in Owensboro. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery in Sorgho. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Drive, Owensboro, KY 42301.
