DRAKESBORO - Lois Wayne Hardison, 66, of Drakesboro died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He was a retired sawmill worker and member of Christ of Calvary Church in Cleaton.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jean (Bratcher) Hardison; a son, Kenny Lear; four daughters, Anna Pryor, Pamela Cople, Mary DeArmond and Polly Moore; two brothers, Harold Hardison and Eldon Hardison; and a sister, Dean McManaway.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial: Mud River Union cemetery in Belton. Visitation: After 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Alma Katherine Tichenor

CENTERTOWN - Alma Katherine Tichenor, 91, died Thursday, May 6, 2004, at Beaver Dam Health Care Manor. She was a homemaker. She was born in Ohio County and graduated from Livermore High School. She was a member of West Point Baptist Church for 78 years and was a member of Matanzas Homemakers. She was preceded in death by her sister, Thelma Taylor.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Edmon Tichenor. They were married on June 25, 1937. Other survivors include three sons, Bernard and Joanie Tichenor of Louisville, Darrel and Frances Tichenor of Hartford and Curtis and Kim Tichenor of St. Louis; a sister, Earnstine Render of Hartford; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bevil Bros. Funeral Home in Beaver Dam. Burial will follow in Centertown cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until funeral time on Saturday. The family requests that contributions, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Ohio County Middle School Family Resource Center, 1404 South Main, Hartford, KY 42348. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.

Frank Edward Keys

CENTRAL CITY - Frank Edward Keys, 76, of Central City died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. He retired from TVA, was a World War II veteran and a deacon of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Eula Bass Keys; four sons, Gregory Scott Keys, Michael D. Keys, Craig Franklin Keys and Carlos Demond Keys; two daughters, Linda Carol Snell and Brenda Dean Laird; and two sisters, Viola Brooks and Greek Mageline Nave.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ in Greenville. Burial: West End cemetery in Greenville. Visitation: From 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. Bibbs Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

Rosemary Tostich Snyder

DRAKESBORO - Rosemary Tostich Snyder, 78, died Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at 9:40 p.m. at her home on Corum Landing Road near Drakesboro following several weeks' illness. She was born in Monroe County, N.Y., on Nov. 19, 1925, the daughter of Emmett Tostich and Pearl Thompson Tostich. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Brockport, N.Y., and was a homemaker and housewife. She was preceded in death by her son, Marc Snyder, in 2000.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, May 10, at 2 p.m. from Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville by the Rev. Mike Chambers. Burial will be in Lake Side cemetery in New York, N.Y.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald L. Snyder of Drakesboro; a daughter, Elin Smith of Belton; three sons, Michael Snyder of North Charleston, S.C., William Snyder of Ankara, Turkey, and Stephan Snyder of Albian, N.Y.; four grandchildren; a sister, Phylis Schafer of Hammond, N.Y.; and a brother, Emmitt Tostich of Lexington.

Friends may call Sunday, May 9, from 6 to 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Monday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville.

Jan G. Kuegel

Jan D. Kuegel, 67, of 2260 South York St., Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Daviess County and was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday school teacher and was treasurer for many years. He was a member and past president of Daviess County Lions Club, former board member of Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home and was a farm consultant at Green River Rural Electric for five years. In 1964, he started the Southeast Daviess County Water District and later started the West District in 1968. He was still manager of both the Southeast and West districts at the time of his death. He was also a longtime member of the Travelers Protective Association and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a 1958 graduate of University of Kentucky with a bachelor of science degree in agriculture. He was in the Farm House fraternity. He was a licensed operator for the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Cabinet, Division of Water. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Higdon; a grandson, Michael Brandon Higdon in 1982; his parents, Martin and Cecil Crabtree Kuegel; two brothers, Robert and James Kuegel; and a sister-in-law, Carrie Newman Kuegel.

Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Mary Haley Kuegel; two daughters, Rebecca Kuegel Brown and her husband, Terry, of Chandler, Ind., and Alena Jo Kuegel Johnson of Richmond; former son-in-law William Higdon; three grandchildren, Jancee Marie Seib, Joseph August Seib and Jordan Donal Johnson; stepgrandchildren Chris, Jeremy and Tyler Brown; two brothers, William Kuegel and John Kuegel Sr., both of Owensboro; a sister, Rebecca Kuegel Newman of Philpot; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with entombment following in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today and after 9 a.m. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Palliative Care, c/o Central Baptist Hospital Foundation, 1740 Nicholasville Road, Lexington, KY 40503 or to the Building Fund, c/o Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 5664 Highway 56, Owensboro, KY 42301.

Herbert Wood

DUNMOR - Herbert Wood, 95, of Dunmor died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at Crestwood Health Care Center in Shelbyville. He was a laborer for TVA, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Mount Moriah Church of Christ.

Survivors include a daughter, JoAnn (Wood) Wilson.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, at Price Funeral Home in Lewisburg. Burial: Mount Moriah Church of Christ cemetery in Muhlenberg County. Visitation: From 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Reverend Elmer Ray Alvey

Rev. Elmer Ray Alvey, 80, of Owensboro, died Monday, January 7, 2002 at his residence. The Daviess County native was retired from Baskin-Robbins and had pastored the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church for over 40 years. He enjoyed gardening.

Surving is his wife of 61 years, Anna Gaddis Alvey; a daughter, Kathy Wilson of Calhoun; four sons, Rev. Bill Alvey, Charles Alvey, and Doug Alvey all of Owenbsoro, and Rev. Tim Alvey of Dale, IN; a brother, Rev. Bobby Alvey of Madisonville; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 6 nieces and 6 nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Patsy Roach in 2000.

Funeral services are 1 P.M. Thursday, January 10, 2002 at the Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Rosehill cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral from from 2-8 on Wednesday and after 9 A.M on Thursday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Association, 723 Harvard Dr., Owenbsoro, KY 42301.

Felix 'Rab' Ray

BREMEN - Felix "Rab" Ray, 93, of Bremen died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at Belle Meade Nursing Home in Greenville. He was a retired manager from Stewart's IGA Foodliner in Central City and a member of Mount Pisgah Baptist Church in Bremen. He was a veteran of World War II.

Services: 2 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home of Central City. Burial: Mount Pisgah cemetery in Bremen. Visitation: After 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Wallace Franklin Reed Sr.
05/11/04

CENTRAL CITY - Wallace Franklin Reed Sr., 70, of 624 Taylor Road, Central City, died Monday, May 10, 2004, at his home. He was born in Muhlenberg County and was a retired truck driver from A&G Egg Farm. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Agnes Nichols Reed; a son, Wallace Franklin Reed Jr. of Central City; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elizabeth Jean Armstrong of Central City, Mittie Aline Collins of Evansville, Ky., and Peggy Edwards of Central City.

There will be no services and no visitation. James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro is in charge of arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Green River Hospice, 109 S. Second St., Central City, KY 42330.

William Lee Irvie 'Jake' Crick

GREENVILLE - William Lee Irvie "Jake" Crick, 88, of 11 Nolen Lane in Greenville died Saturday, May 22, 2004, at 2 a.m. in the Maple Manor Health Care Center in Greenville. He was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Muhlenberg County, the son of Eura Crick and Allie Pearl Wells Crick. He attended Olive Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville. He retired in 1969 after 10 years as a Uke driver at Greenville Quarries. He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic, the Pacific and the Philippines. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Nell Crick, in 1994.

He is survived by one daughter, Linda Reynolds of Greenville; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lydia McIntosh of Greenville and Lizzie Deason of Greenville; two brothers, Clifford Crick of Greenville and Jewell Crick of Hopkinsville; and one nephew, Joe (Lisa) Snyder of Powderly.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2004, at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville by the Rev. Richard Day. Burial will be in the Cherry Grove cemetery in Weir with military rites. Friends may call today between 6 and 8 p.m. at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville.

Daniel George 'Danny' Curtis

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Daniel George "Danny" Curtis, 63, of Franklin died Wednesday, May 12, 2004, at 11:20 a.m. at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Danny was born on Jan. 15, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, son of George Earl and Kathryn Curtis. He was a member of Rockport Baptist Church, where he served as a trustee, and was currently attending Thompson's Station Church near Franklin. He owned and operated Curtis Paint & Body Shop in Central City for 40 years before retiring to Franklin, where he restored antique furniture as a hobby.

Survivors include his wife, Walteen Curtis of Franklin; two daughters, Danita Crivello of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Kim Stone of Franklin; five grandchildren, Daniella Crivello, Jordan Stone, Grayson Stone, Gabrielle Crivello and Joshua Stone; his mother, Kathryn Curtis of Central City; five sisters, Gwyneth Keeling of Hopkinsville, Maxine Waldygo of Washington, Pa., Linda Gossett of San Diego, Karen Fleming of Lilburn, Ga., and Sandra Cornette of Hattiesburg, Miss.; and a brother, Ronnie Curtis of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 15, at 1 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Visitation will begin this evening from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday morning after 8 a.m. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Jeff Gossett and the Rev. Greg Stone. Burial will follow in Rose Hill cemetery in Central City.

Preston Ray Sharp Jr.

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - Preston Ray Sharp Jr. of Kingsport died there Thursday, May 13, 2004. He was a member of Nelson Creek Baptist Church in Central City and Ceralvo F&AM Lodge #253 and was a graduate of Rockport High School. He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Doy Wright Sharp; and a brother, William Wright Sharp.

Survivors include a sister, Judy Carol Sharp Bond of Kingsport; three nephews, Billy Ray Sharp of Central City, Terry Bond of Kingsport and Aaron Bond of Kingsport; and two nieces, Lana Sharp Crowder of Nashville and Sherry Bond of Kingsport.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Rose Hill cemetery in Central City with the Rev. Donnie Wilkins officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City.
