Ted Davis 82, of Island, Kentucky. Died Monday June 9, 2003 at his home in Island. He was born September 5, 1920 in Island, Kentucky to the late William & Birchie Bolton Davis. Ted retired from T.V.A. Paradise Plant in 1983, and was a member of the Island United Methodist Church. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, and later married the former Dorothy Alice Huckleberry on October 2, 1948 in Island. He enjoyed University of Kentucky Basketball, working in his yard, and spending time with his friends & family.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Dorothy. Four daughters Alice Oakley, Peggy Penrod, Teddy K. Case all of Island, and Faye Cunningham of Utica. 5 grandchildren. 5 great grandchildren. A brother Oscar Davis of Calhoun. And a sister Sallie Eaton of Island.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Burial will be in the Island Community cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Calhoun. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Island Community cemetery Fund; C/O J.D. Hardison; P.O. Box 162; Island, Kentucky 42350. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Ella Lee Ashton McLaughlin 83, of 404 Bell Road; Rumsey, Kentucky. Died Monday June 2, 2003 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville. Ella Lee was born November 20, 1919 in Rumsey, to the late Lee & Grace Bivens Ashton. She was raised in Ashbyburg in Hopkins County, and was a member of the Jewell City Holiness Church. The former Ella Lee Ashton was married September 9, 1939 to Arthur Gordon McLaughlin in Sacramento, Kentucky. She was a homemaker, and enjoyed camping, gardening, and crafts. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Carlotta Barnett on August 6, 2001.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Gordon. A son Arthur Lee McLaughlin of Sacramento. Two daughters Dorothy Pinkston of Calhoun, and Sheila Dailey of Rumsey. 7 grandchildren. 7 great grandchildren. And a brother Robert Ashton of Calhoun.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Carl Sparks officiating. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Poplar Grove cemetery Fund; C/O Jerry Baggett; 5007 Pack Church Road; Rumsey, Kentucky 42371. James Ray “Jamie” Cook 34, of Livermore, Kentucky. Died Tuesday July 1, 2003 at his home. James Ray “Jamie” Cook was born August 16, 1968 in Owensboro, Kentucky to Carrol Ray & Sherlene Daniels Cook. He attended the Livermore United Methodist Church, and was a 1987 Graduate of McLean County High School. Jamie also enjoyed art, drawing, painting, and music.

Survivors include a son James Evan Cook of Livermore. A daughter Eden Kathleen Cook of Livermore. His parents Carrol Ray & Sherlene Daniels Cook of Livermore. A brother and his wife Robert Carrol & Wendy Cook of Owensboro. A sister and her husband Dawna & Keith Price of Livermore. Three nephews Josh Rickard, Derek Young, and Jon Price. Three nieces Cortnee Cook, Jenna Price, and Gracie Price. A great nephew Colt Rickard. Three aunts Laura Johnson, Linda Bowden, and Muriel Clements. And two uncles Harold Cook, and Bradley Cook.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with Rev. Halqua Wilson and Rev. Jesse Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Baptist cemetery in McLean County. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Livermore. William L. Haynes 81, of Calhoun.Died Friday July 11, 2003 at Owensboro Mercy Health Systems.He was born June 29, 1922 in Calhoun. He retired from Calhoun High School and the Bowling Green Business University. He was a member of Calhoun United Methodist Church and retired as a bookkeeper from the Kentucky Department of Highways.

Survivors include his brother Howdon Haynes of Calhoun and a niece Valerie Haynes of Calhoun.

Funeral services will held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Ken Berggren officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday and 8:00 A.M. until time of services Monday at Musters in Calhoun. Darvin Kent Lowery 69, of 3900 Bordeaux Loop South; Owensboro, Kentucky. Died Wednesday July 2, 2003 at his home in Owensboro. Darvin Kent Lowery was born February 13, 1934 in Irvine, Kentucky to the late Earl and Lona Knox Lowery. He worked for 35 years in the Oil and Gas Industry in Oklahoma, Texas, Michigan, and Kentucky. Darvin was a member of the Karns Grove Baptist Church in Philpot where he had also served as a youth director, and as Chairman of the Budget Committee for the Church. He was a 1952 Graduate of Calhoun High School, was a member of the American Bonanza Society, a member of the Aircraft Owners Pilots Association, and a member of the Michigan Oil & Gas Association. Darvin enjoyed flying his Bonanza Airplane and watching football, baseball, and NASCAR. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher F. Borgeling.

Survivors include his loving wife of 29 years Sandra K. Lowery. A son John M. Fallon of Gaylord, Michigan. Two daughters Kathleen M. (Michael) Purple of Fountain, Michigan, and Maureen M. Brigham of Ludington, Michigan. Seven grandchildren Sierra M. Britton, Travis R. Britton, Alexandra M. Brigham all of Ludington, Michigan, Megan K. Borgeling, Alex K. Borgeling, Ashlee Purple, and Sean M. Purple all of Fountain, Michigan. A brother Odean (Anita) Lowery of Calhoun. And two sisters Geneva (Calvin) Easter of Paoli, Indiana, and Noretta (Charles) Thompson of Owensboro.

Funeral services will held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Robert G. Hester officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery. Friends may visit with the Lowery Family from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Friday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Calhoun. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to either the Karns Grove Baptist Church, Building Fund; 6371 Karns Grove Road; Philpot, Kentucky 42366 or the Hospice Association, Inc; 723 Harvard Drive; Owensboro, Kentucky 42301. Charles Wesley Hicklin 69, of 213 Cambridge Station Road; Louisville, Kentucky. Died Wednesday July 2, 2003 at his home in Louisville. He was born December 28, 1933 in Anton, Kentucky to the late Charles B. & Elsie Hicklin. Charles Wesley Hicklin married the former Beverly Jean Davis on December 22, 1961 in Calhoun, Kentucky. He was a Graduate of Madisonville High School and Western Kentucky State Teachers College in Bowling Green. He taught at Owensboro High School, later retired from the General Electric Corporation and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Charles Wesley was a certified pilot, and enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting, and playing golf.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years Beverly. A daughter Polly H. Foreman of Elizabethtown. Three brothers William L. Hicklin, Sr of Pipersville, Pennsylvania, Joseph D. Hicklin and John M. Hicklin both of Madisonville. A step brother Tom Toombs of Louisville. Three sisters Wilma Brown of Dawson Springs, Pearl Quinn of Calhoun, and Mary Alice Davis of Anton. And three step sisters Anna Laura McGrew of Madisonville, Hilda Martin of Memphis, Tennessee, and Ginger Miles of Clarksville, Tennessee. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services will held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415. Friends may visit with the Hicklin Family from 12:30 P.M. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Calhoun. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Jessie “Jake” Vanover 91, of Panther, Kentucky. Died Tuesday July 8, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro. Jessie “Jake” Vanover was born August 11, 1911 to the late Robert & Cora Burdette Vanover in Daviess County. Jessie married the former Mary Elizabeth Wills on July 1, 1936. He was a retired coal miner, a farmer, and a member of the Little Flock Holiness Church. Jake enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary. Two sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth R. & Olina L. Vanover of Panther, and Larry Eugene & Frances J. Vanover of Jacksonville, Florida. Two daughters and a son-in-law Betty Sue & Roy Brown of Island, and Wanda J. Mauzy of Beech Grove. 12 grandchildren. And 27 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Harry Wilson and Rev. Jim Midkiff officiating. Burial will be in the Brushy Fork cemetery in Daviess County. Friends may visit with the Vanover Family from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Calhoun. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Brushy Fork cemetery Fund. Frank H. Long 90, of Livermore, Kentucky. Died Saturday July 12, 2003 at the Maple Manor Healthcare Center in Greenville. He was a farmer, and a member of the Livermore Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a son Willard Long on 09-02-1976.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Helen Long. A daughter Savannah Garrett of Central City. 7 grandchildren: David Boyken, Roger Boyken, Kathy Boyken, Mark Boyken, Keith Long, Denise Aubrey, and Scott Long. And 2 Step Grandchildren Karen Garrett and Chris Garrett. 16 great grandchildren. 4 great great grandchildren. And 2 sisters Sydney Troutman of Elkton and Virginia Troutman of Calhoun.

Funeral services will held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Gary Shockley officiating. Burial will be in the Richland Baptist cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Long Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Monday at Musters in Livermore. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Richland Baptist cemetery Fund or the Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children. Modella T. “Granny” Dame 89, of Sacramento. Died Friday July 18, 2003 at her home in Sacramento. She was born December 25, 1913 in McLean County. She was a member of Cypress Primitive Baptist Church and enjoyed quilting and cooking. Her husband Clarence Dame died May 30, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her parents Sam & Dell Turley, her brothers Melvin Turley, Graydon Turley, and Thurman Turley. And by a sister Magdalene Barnett.

Survivors include 2 step-children Gladys Dame Revlett and Charles “Buddy” Dame both of Sacramento. 10 Grandchildren, 2 of whom she raised C.U. Revlett of Cedar Hill, TN and Judy Revlett Miller of Bremen. 18 great-grandchildren. And 29 great great grandchildren. A sister-in-law Kathleen Turley of Sacramento. And several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will beheld at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Cypress Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Poplar Grove cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Family from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Monday at Cypress Primitive Baptist Church. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Cypress Primitive Baptist Church. Brenda Kaye Hudson, 56 of Utica, Kentucky. Died Wednesday July 23, 2003 at the Riverside Manor Health Care Center in Calhoun. She was born March 6, 1947 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Guy & Louise Henton Hudson. She was a Graduate of Daviess County High School, a member of McLean Church of Christ in Calhoun, and was employed by Hudson Farms of Utica for several years.

Survivors include two brothers and their wives Joe B. & Sandra Hudson and Jerry R. & Mary Etta Hudson both of Utica. And a sister Bonnie Hudson of Utica.

Funeral services will held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Rev. Harry Wislon officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hope cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the Hudson Family from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Saturday at Musters in Calhoun.
