Jewell McGehee 71, of Semiway, Kentucky. Died Saturday July 19, 2003 at his home in Semiway. Flemons Jewell McGehee was born June 26, 1932 in McLean County, Kentucky to the late Alfred & Neva Lorene Davis McGehee. He was a retired farmer, and attended the Knobbs Church of God of Prophecy. He was an Army Veteran and also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife Jane Wood McGehee died July 29, 1998.

Survivors include a sister & her husband Effie Lee “Dop” & Walter Earl Conrad of Calhoun. Several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Baize officiating. Burial will be in the New Cypress cemetery in McLean County. Friends may visit with the McGehee Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun. J. David Boyken 80, of Livermore, Kentucky. Died Monday July 28, 2003 at Wellington Parc of Owensboro. J. David Boyken was born August 7, 1922 in Livermore, Kentucky to the late Oscar & Cordie Carman Boyken, and was a 1940 Graduate of Livermore High School. He was married to the former Hellen Thomas on December 24, 1940. David later received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from Western State Teacher’s College in Bowling Green, and retired as Assistant Superintendent from McLean County School System. He was a member of the Livermore United Methodist Church, and was an Army Veteran of World War II, where he served as a infantryman in both Germany and Paris. During the War, David was also held as a Prisoner of War in Germany. He also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and gardening. His wife of 61 years, Hellen Thomas Boyken died October 18, 2002. He was also preceded in death by two brothers William H. “Mutt” Boyken and Sherman Boyken; and by a great grandson, Wesley Blankenship.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law Hubert & Alice Boyken of Livermore. Two daughters and a son-in-law Jayne & Bill Ross of Hodgenville, and Jeneath Faith Ray of Sapulpa, Oklahoma. 12 grandchildren. 28 great grandchildren. And a sister Sue Nelson of Livermore.

Funeral services will held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Livermore United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit with the Boyken Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Livermore United Methodist Church, Building Fund; P.O. Box 115; Livermore, Kentucky 42352. Jimmie Lee Howard 73, of Island, Kentucky. Died Tuesday July 29, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro. Jimmie Lee Howard was born November 14, 1929 in McLean County to John W. and Marie Gunterman Howard and married the former Sue Carol Weightman February 25, 1949 in Island, Kentucky. He was retired as a heavy equipment operator from the T.V.A. Paradise Plant and was a member of Local 181. Jimmie was a member of the Island Baptist Church and the Island Lodge #743 F. & A.M. He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Howard.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Sue. Two sons and their wives James Richey & Pam Howard of Livermore, and Kerry & Vicky Howard of Island. His mother Marie Howard of Island. Four grandchildren Kim West of Madisonville, Rodney Howard, Jessica Graham both of Calhoun, and Christy Burden of Rumsey. 4 great grandchildren. A sister Loretta Kittinger of Calhoun. And a niece Maya Kittinger of Calhoun.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 P.M. Thursday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Rev. John Galyen officiating. Burial will be in the Island Community cemetery. Friends may visit with the Howard Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Thursday at Musters in Calhoun. Masonic services conducted by Island Lodge #743 F. & A.M. for Mr. Howard will be at 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home. Sandra Rightmyer Quisenberry 64, of 2505 Ford Avenue; Owensboro, Kentucky; formerly of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Saturday March 15, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro. She was born in Calhoun, and was a retired teacher from the McLean County School System. She was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church in Owensboro, and was a former member of the Calhoun Baptist Church. She also enjoyed reading and her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband W.E. Quisenberry, Sr. Three sons Daniel L. Russell of Owensboro, Gary S. Russell of Madisonville, and Anthony Paul Russell of Lexington. A daughter Jill R. Taylor of Newport News, Virginia. A step son W.E. Quisenberry, Jr of Calhoun. Two step daughters Betty Q. Edwards of Paducah, and Becky Q. Stansberry of Savannah, Georgia. 13 grandchildren. 2 great grandchildren. Three brothers Hugh Rightmyer of Calhoun, Larry Rightmyer of Elizabethtown, and Bobby Rightmyer of Danville. And a sister Eppie R. Lanham of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday at the Calhoun Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Glenville Baptist cemetery in Daviess County. Visitation is from 2:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Sunday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. R.T. Tichenor, Jr 79, of 1200 East Byers Avenue; Owensboro, Kentucky formerly of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Monday March 24, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems. He was born in McLean County and was co-owner & operator of Tichenor Brother’s General Store of Guffie & Calhoun. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Owensboro and was formerly a member of the St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Calhoun. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, was a second generation Director of the former Citizens Deposit Bank in Calhoun, and was currently serving as a Board Member for B.B. & T. Bank. He was a past officer of the McLean County Fish & Game, was a member of the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415, and was a member of the Calhoun Lions Club. He was a graduate of St. Bernard’s School of Cullman, Alabama, and attended college in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Jo Rudd Tichenor. Two sons Stephen Thomas Tichenor of Bowling Green, and James Eugene Tichenor of Maysville, Kentucky. 5 grandchildren. A brother Bill Tichenor of Owensboro. And a sister Jacinta Garringer of Owensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the St. Sebastian Catholic Church in Calhoun. Burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the McLean County Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5415. Visitation is from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday and from 8:00 A.M. until 9:30 A.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. Prayers will be said at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Building Fund; 180 Kentucky 136 West; Calhoun, Kentucky 42327. John Jerone Hughes

John Jerone Hughes 52, of Highway 81 South; Sacramento, Kentucky. Died in February of 2003 at his home in Sacramento. John was born September 22, 1950 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Daniel H. “Buster” Hughes & Lillian E. Rose Hughes. He was self employed in commercial / residential electronics, electrical and general repair. Mr. Hughes was home schooled receiving additional training and accreditation from Henderson County High School, White’s Institute, and University of Evansville. He loved a good joke, tinkering, fixin’ the unfixable, and ‘Just Bein’ John.’

Survivors include his son John Jr. His estranged wife. Two step sons. His mother, Lillian Evelyn Hughes of Evansville. An only brother, D.H. Hughes, Jr of Owensboro. Step grandchildren, nephews, and nieces.

Private family funeral services and burial will be held Wednesday at the Elmwood cemetery in Springfield, Tennessee. There will be no visitation. Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel is in charge of the funeral arrangements. The Hughes Family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the donor’s local ‘Just Say No To Drugs Organization.’

Louis Jones

Richard Louis Jones, 90, a respected member of the Buel Community, passed away Friday, September 19, 2003. He was born April 12, 1913 in Norene, Tennessee to the late Richard Morgan and Elsie Jane Jones. Louis was married to the former Helen Hancock for 62 years, until her death February 14, 1997. He was a lifelong farmer, a cabinetmaker, and built several houses. Louis worked for nineteen years for the Kentucky Department of Highways and retired as foreman of District Bridge Crew #226. Mr. Jones was a highly regarded member of Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church and was a Bible scholar. He served on the Board of Trustees for several terms helping oversee and build three major building projects as well as other smaller improvements in the Church and parsonage. He received recognition with a plaque given him by the Church in December 1994. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jeff Jones, who died in 1995.

Survivors include two sons, Richard and his wife Lavonda Jones, Calhoun; Tony and his wife Larkin Jones, Calhoun; three daughters, Judy and her husband Bobby Ayer, Calhoun; Pat Allen, Fort Myers, FL; and Betsy and her husband John Woosley, Calhoun. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, Rick Jones, Robert Ayer, Anne Stenberg, Marty Mize, Andy Jones, Danny Woosley, Beth Atherton, Tommy Woosley, Amy Woosley, Jonathan Ayer, Amanda Brooks, Jennifer Jones, Stephen Ayer, Kim Jones, David Jones and twenty-four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank Jones, Calhoun, and Luther Jones, Vincennes, IN and a sister, Nina Jo Qualls, Slaughters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at the Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Hampton and Rev. Steve Dame officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hope cemetery. Friends may visit with the Jones Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the Jones family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Pleasant Hope General Baptist Church Building Fund, 178 Pleasant Hope Church Road, Calhoun, Kentucky 42327 or Green River Hospice, 109 South 2nd Street, Central City, Kentucky 42330. Daniel L. Cardwell 26, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Friday, September 19, 2003 at the Owensboro Mercy Health Systems in Owensboro. Daniel was born April 20, 1977 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was currently working on his Master’s Degree in Sociology at Murray State University, where he was also a Graduate Assistant for the History Department. He was baptized at the Cottontown Baptist Church in Tennessee and enjoyed video games, collecting comic books, and everything that had to do with politics or history.

Survivors include his father Ronnie L. Cardwell of Calhoun. His mother and step father Janice & Frankie Miller of Falls of the Rough. His grandparents Robert E. & Marie French of Waverly, Tennessee. Two brothers Joshua L. Cardwell of Murray and Joseph L. Cardwell of Owensboro. Several aunts, a uncle, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel Dr. Richard Sams officiating. Burial will be in the Mitchelville cemetery in Mitchelville, Tennessee. Friends may visit with the Cardwell Family from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Sunday and from 8:00 A.M. until time of services Monday at Musters in Calhoun. The Cardwell family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Daniel L. Cardwell Scholarship Fund at McLean County High School; C/O Muster Funeral Homes; P.O. Joseph Charles Hudson 64, of Amherstdale, West Virginia; formerly of Livermore. Died Wednesday September 24, 2003 at the Logan Regional Medical Center in Logan, West Virginia. Joseph Charles was born March 2, 1939 in Daviess County, Kentucky and was a mechanic for ARCH Coal Mining of West Virginia. He was a member of the Old Buck Creek Baptist Church, was a member of the Local Operating Engineers Union #181, and was a member of the District #17 United Mine Workers Association. He was also a member of the National Rifleman’s Association and also enjoyed hunting & trot line fishing. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Hudson died in 1971 and a grandson, Christopher Kirtley Hudson died May 28, 1994.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Hudson. Three sons Chris Hudson of Owensville, Indiana, Ben Hudson of Livermore, and Clayton Sexton of Amherstdale. A daughter Elizabeth Ann Sexton of Amherstdale. Three grandchildren Cheyenne Hudson, Kayde Hudson, and Alex Hudson. His mother Alma Hudson Gore of Owensboro. A brother Billy Hudson of Apopka, Florida. And three sisters Regina Vanover of Uitca, Terry Shocklee, and Cheryl Stinogle both of Livermore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday at Muster Funeral Homes, Livermore Chapel with the Rev. Gary Shockley officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery in Livermore. Friends may visit with the Hudson Family from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday and from 9:00 A.M. until time of services Sunday at Musters in Livermore. Camilis “Bill” Caraway 71, of Calhoun, Kentucky. Died Monday September 29, 2003 at his home in Calhoun. Bill was born August 8, 1932 in Calhoun to the late Guilford & Anna Mae Caraway and married the former Betty Sue Epley in 1965. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of the Calhoun Christian Church, where he had served as a Church Deacon for several years. He enjoyed his grandkids and working with horses.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Betty. Two sons and their wives, Clay & Linda Durbin and Scott & Marie Caraway all of Calhoun. A daughter, Cindy Caraway Taylor of Calhoun. Six grandchildren Annie Durbin, Abi Durbin, Aaron Durbin, Isaac Caraway, Cathryn Taylor, and Leah Mae Taylor. And two brothers Lemuel Caraway, and John Caraway both of Calhoun.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Muster Funeral Homes, Calhoun Chapel with Brother Joe Bill Caraway officiating. Private family burial will be in the Calhoun cemetery. Friends may visit with the Caraway Family from 5:00 P.M. until time of services Wednesday at Musters in Calhoun. The Caraway Family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Green River Hospice; 109 South Second Street; Central City, Kentucky 42330. Memorial contribution envelopes will be available at Musters in Calhoun.
