BOWLING GREEN - Deborah Kay Lanphear, 49, of Bowling Green died at 8:25 a.m., Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. He was born in Fort Eustis, Va., to Worley Edward Gentry Sr. and Alice Marian Westerfield Ward. She was a homemaker, a member of West End Church of Christ and a Sunday school teacher at the church. She was preceded in death by a son, Adam Lanphear; and her father, Worley Edward Gentry Sr.

Survivors include her husband, David Lanphear of Bowling Green; two sons, Kyle Lanphear of Raleigh, N.C., and Colin Lanphear of Bowling Green; her mother, Alice Gentry Ward of Owensboro; her stepfather, Don Ward of Owensboro; two brothers, W. Edward Gentry Jr. and wife Lisa and Scott Gentry and wife Tracey, all of Owensboro; a sister, Lori White and husband Eddie of Elizabethtown; and seven nieces and three nephews.

Services are at 11 a.m. today at J.C. Kirby & Sons Funeral Home, Lovers Lane Chapel, in Bowling Green. Burial will take place in Bowling Green Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to American Heart Association, Kentucky Region, 333 Guthrie St., Suite 207, Louisville, KY 40202.

Sue Reynolds

Mrs. Sue Reynolds, 74, of 1145 Avondale Road, Owensboro went home to be with Jesus on Friday, July 23, 2004, at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born April 27, 1930, to Jewell Lee and Lila Womack McGee in Richmond, Ind. She was an instructor at the Adult Learning Center as well as a homemaker. She had attended Parrish Avenue Baptist and Good Shepherd churches and was presently a member of Word and Spirit Church. Sue loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed music and singing.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Becky Reynolds, who died June 19, 1999.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Thomas R. Reynolds of Owensboro; one daughter, Nancy Parker and her husband Bobby of Owensboro; two grandchildren, Christi Hatfield and her husband, Josh, of Beaver Dam and Aaron Parker and his wife, Cherokee of Philpot; three great-grandchildren; her mother, Lila "Molly" McGee of Holiday, Fla.; one brother, Edwin McGee and his wife Barbara of New Port Richey, Fla.; also several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, July 26, 2004, at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wendell Foster Center, P.O. Box 1668, Owensboro, KY 42302.

Jennifer Leigh 'Jenni' Evans

FAIRVIEW, Tenn. - Jennifer Leigh "Jenni" Evans, 39, of Fernvale Road, Fairview, formerly of Owensboro, died Wednesday, July 14, 2004, at 6 p.m. at Centennial Hospital in Nashville. She was a member of The Cathedral of the Incarnation Catholic Church in Nashville. She was employed as an operating room nurse at Centennial Hospital for the last 14 years. She was a 1983 graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School and a 1988 graduate of Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.

She is survived by her parents, Margaret Anne Evans of Crestwood, Deales Evans of Whitesville and Charles Thurman of Paducah; her grandmother, Annie Thurman of Paducah; her fiancé, Don Ward and his son, Levi, of Fairview; a brother, Chris Evans of Owensboro; a sister, Lisa Evans of Murfreesboro; a brother, Mark Evans and his wife, Diane, of Paducah; a nephew, Blake Evans of Murfreesboro; a niece, Kristen Evans and nephew, Mitchell Evans, both of Paducah; an aunt and uncle, Nancy and Max Etchason of Decatur, Ill.; a cousin, Clifford Etchason of Chicago; her uncle and aunt, Jessie Willard Mitchell Jr. and Ann Mitchell of Paducah; and cousins, Jessie Willard Mitchell III, Brian Mitchell, Cliff Mitchell, Kathy Carothers, Kelly Sikes, Tina Claypool, Annie Swope and Nancy Mitchell.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday, July 19, at Immaculate Catholic Church in Owensboro. Burial will be in Cates cemetery in Whitesville. Visitation is from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at James H. Davis Funeral Home in Owensboro, where the rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Owensboro Catholic High School, 1524 W. Parrish Ave., Owensboro, KY 42301.

William 'Bill' Katterjohn

William "Bill" Katterjohn, 58, of Owensboro died Sunday July 4, 2004, at his home.

Survivors include a sister, Anne Gibbs; and a brother, John Katterjohn.

Graveside services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fernwood cemetery. There will be no visitation. Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Norman Robert Fildes Sr.

HARDINSBURG - Norman Robert Fildes Sr., 84, of Hardinsburg died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was an Army veteran of 30 years and a member of Hites Run Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary D. Hawkins Fildes; a son, Norman Robert (Bob) Fildes Jr.; two daughters, Vickie Lee Plunkett and Jackie Blanchard; and a sister, Barbara Sutherland.

Services: 10 a.m. today at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home in Hardinsburg. Burial: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lebanon National cemetery. Visitation: From 9 to 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.

Dora Forest Drake

BELTON - Dora Forest Drake, 88, of P.O. Box 38, Belton died at 12:20 a.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Maple Manor Health Care in Greenville. She was born May 27, 1916, in Logan County and was a homemaker. She was a member of Forest Oak Baptist Church in Belton. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Drake; and a son, Doyle Drake.

Survivors include two sons, Argle Drake of Owensboro and Ronnie Drake of Belton; four daughters, Lenora Link of Griffith, Ind., Ausalene Pendley of Belton, Sue Beliles of Drakesboro and Shirley Dukes of Beechmont; 22 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Elmer Link of Griffith.

Services are at 11 a.m. Monday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Dukes officiating and assisted by the Rev. Gene McGehee. Burial will be in Mud River Union cemetery in Belton. Visitation is after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Irene Riley

TELL CITY, Ind. - Irene Riley, 79, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at CORE Nursing & Rehabilitation in Huntingburg, Ind. She was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Perry County to the late Robert and Margaret (Sweat) Beck. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Albert Riley, in 1980; a sister, Elsie Gogel; a brother, Wayne Beck; and a grandson, Gary Riley. Irene formerly worked at Lipp's Furniture Store and Ken-Rad. She was of the Catholic faith, a graduate of Tell City High School and enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing.

Irene is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife, Velma Riley, of Hawesville and Ron and his wife, Lee Ann Riley, of Tell City; a daughter, Sharon and her husband, Raymond Merkley, of Owensboro; eight grandchildren, Angela Merkley Howell, Karen Merkley Taber, Tim R. Merkley, Charles, Randy, Brenda, Nathan and Cassi Riley; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, with burial in Greenwood cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Friday at Huber Funeral Home, 1139 12th St., Tell City, Ind. The Rev. Carl Deitchman, OSB, will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the CORE Nursing & Rehabilitation Activity Fund.

Patsy Sue Walker Bivins

LEWISBURG - Patsy Sue Walker Bivins, 55, of 16243 Lewisburg Road, Lewisburg, died Monday morning, July 12, 2004, in an automobile accident on Highway 181 South in Greenville. She was born in Greenville, the daughter of James Walker and Ruthell Lear Walker. She attended Landmark Church in Weir. She was a retired factory worker who worked at Flynn, Dana and also at Emerson Electric.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 14, at 10 a.m. from Gary's Funeral Home by the Rev. Charles Anthony Knight. Burial will be in Landmark cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Freddy Junior Bivins of Lewisburg; her father and mother, James Walker and Ruthell Lear Walker of Greenville; three sons, Johnny (Tammy) Bivins and Dennis Bivins, all of Lewisburg, and Michael (Heather) Bivins of Central City; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Renee Bivins, Erica Leann Bivins and Devon Austin Bivins; a brother, William Franklin Walker of Greenville; and a sister, Betsy Wells of Elkton.

Friends may call at the funeral home today, July 13, from 5 to 8 p.m.

Ruby Lee Gorham

BEECH CREEK - Ruby Lee Gorham, 89, of Beechmont died Monday, July 26, 2004, at Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. She was a homemaker and member of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Drakesboro.

Survivors include a son, Roger Gorham; two daughters, Iva Dell Knight and Lynda Henderson; and four sisters, Mildred Oglesby, Mazola Jackson, Iva Jean Mihelchic and Evelyn Yarbor.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home. Burial: Ebenezer Baptist Church cemetery in Drakesboro. Visitation: After 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Eula Mae Garrett

ENGLISH - Eula Mae Garrett went to reside with her Heavenly Father on July 15, 2004. Born to Marion and Eva Lena-Swafford-Griffith in English on Sept. 16, 1914, Eula Mae attended English School and English Baptist Church. She was a loving mother of three children who were raised in Mill Creek and Carrollton. She lived in Owensboro for 20 years and was a former resident of the Roosevelt House. She retired from Owensboro-Daviess County Hospital after 15 years of service and resided with her daughter for the past 16 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Lena Swafford; her father, Marion Griffith; her sister, Delma Willis; and her brother, William Griffith.

She is survived by her children, her sons, Johnny Marion Garrett and his wife Dottie of Campbellsburg, Robert E. Garrett and his wife, Bess, of Owensboro; her daughter, Lena A. Hanlon and her husband, James D. Hanlon, of Murfreesboro, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Deborah, Crystal and Kimberly Garrett of Carrollton, Mona Aud and Beverly Duncan of Owensboro, Dennis Couch of Louisville, John Edward Duncan of Murfreesboro, and Shannon Duggins of Campbellsburg; 10 great-grandchildren, Shannon Knowles of Orlando, Fla., Johnna Payne of Owensboro, Erica Dwyer of Lafayette, La., Angela Couch, Denise Bush and Dennis Couch II of Louisville, Josh, Caleb, Noah and Rachel Duggins of Campbellsburg; five great-great-grandchildren, Seth, Cade and Elizabeth Knowles of Orlando and Morgan and B.J. Payne of Owensboro.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Hospice, 1410 Donelson Pike, Suite No. B14, Nashville, TN 37217, 1-800-889-4673. Services to be held at Ransdell Funeral Home in Campbellsburg. Open for viewing at 5 p.m. Saturday, July 17, and funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 18, and interment at English cemetery.

Dustin Michael Church

WATERBURY, Conn. - Dustin Michael Church, 18, of Waterbury died Saturday, July 10, 2004, in Kent, Conn. Dustin was born Aug. 24, 1985, in New Haven, Conn. He was a student at the Marvelwood School and graduated in June 2004. He was most recently employed as a salesman for Polo. Dustin loved spending time with his family and friends, gymnastics, swimming, soccer, music and making people smile.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon Duncan Church of Waterbury; his father and stepmother, William S. and Colleen Church of Madison; his brother, Casey C. Church of Keene, N.H.; his grandparents, James Lloyd and Regina Duncan of Owensboro; John and Marjorie Church of Ohio; two uncles, Barry and Marie Duncan of Waterbury and Mike and Darlene Duncan of Whitesville; aunt, Dyanne and Levi Baker of Owensboro; first cousins, Jamie and Stephanie Duncan of Bowling Green and Stephanie Duncan Matthews, Shawn Duncan and Kelsea Matthews, all of Charlotte, N.C.; and other extended family in the Owensboro area.

Memorial services were held July 17 at First Congregational Church in Branford, Conn. Inurnment was in Center cemetery in Branford. W.S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home in Branford was in charge of arrangements.

The family requested in lieu of flowers and gifts, donations could be sent to: Casey Church, 55-5 Deerwood Lane, Waterbury, CT 06704 in honor and memory of Dustin.
